Moving Ahead was easy to work with as they were very responsive and easy to work with providing quotes for loading services. They called the day before our move for confirmation and called several times when as they were scheduled to arrive. When Andre and Darian arrived they were pleasant and were careful with our things as they loaded up our truck. They made helpful suggestions on what we should do with some of our pieces of furniture, told us what we should do to stabilize the truck, and helped us unload some things for my family. We had a very good experience with this moving company for our long distance move from Cleveland to Kansas. They came to our place to pack the first day, loaded the truck on the second day, drove the third day, and unloaded us on the fourth day. They even hitched up our car (wheels up) behind our moving truck. We had three different teams of people come out for all these days and everyone was courteous, respectful, and easy-going. They were eager to please and listened to all my instructions about special items that needed to be packed more carefully, etc. Nothing got damaged during the move and we were very grateful for their services!! read more

Beware of this corrupt company. Do not be fooled by their claim to be veteran owned. In my experience I found their entire management team to be unethical, rude, condescending, and cold. Lots of damage to our home and we paid for the insurance to cover any damages. Instead of being honorable like you expect a veteran of the military to be, we have been badgered, told they will never do business with us again, and refused to fix all of the damage from their movers. Why are their reviews so high??? Because you can have others post multiple great reviews for every bad one they receive to raise their scores. They may be veteran owned, but they are operating under unethical leaders. I only speak the Truth based on a horrible experience. All of that damage could have been avoided if they used proper moving techniques and the correct equipment. No straps, no dollies, no gloves, no call-outs to one another when going down stairs, and rushing with heavy pieces. Don't blame your clients because of unstable pieces. Wow, there are so many positives to list; I don't know where to start. I really can't think of any negatives. Go Moving Ahead! First, Jeff gave me a fair quote very promptly. It was't a lot more than my recent move from NYC to Cincinnati, and the distance is much greater, so it seemed like a good deal. I mentioned my Angie's List discount, and they honored it, even when I later told them that I may have underestimated how many items I had. Wow, impressive. Integrity from the get-go. Then I was handed off to Spensir, who was really great (and patient) in so many ways. He was always super quick to respond to my emails, and we even chatted a few times on the phone. I probably drove him crazy with all my questions, but he always gave answers and good advice, often within a few hours! Once I even felt he was my temporary therapist. ha He alleviated much stress! Thanks for the moral AND logistical support, Spensir! I felt like the entire logistics/paperwork process was too easy to not be a scam. I had to be missing something. How could moving be this simple? I've been lucky with all my previous moves in the sense that all the guys have been ethical, polite, and hardworking, but this company (and moving guys) took it to another higher level. It's going to be hard to live up to my new standard, future moving companies! heh Allen (sp?) from the local department called several days before my move with a few questions and words of advice. Helpful chat. I spoke to him again briefly to give him/the movers instructions for parking at my apartment complex. I was able to get him immediately. I had Bob, Desmond, Ryan, and Joel in Cincinnati, with Joel being the guy who drove all the way to California. Joel came in a separate truck -- the one used to load up my stuff. Every single guy was a total pro, very likable. They seemed genuinely interested in what I was doing out in Los Angeles, too. They were super appreciative of the food goodies we left for them and post-load tips. They chose to take the stairs (I'm on the 3rd floor) instead of the elevator, because the elevator was so far away from my apartment. I couldn't believe how quick they were, especially with many heavy items and stairs! I don't think they even really took a break?!?! They moved over 125 boxes, plus quite a bit of heavy furniture and miscellaneous items in under 2 hours! I had a 2 bedroom, but more stuff than the average 2BR. I think they were the quickest movers I have ever had, but they were also very careful. Nice combo! They seemed to get along really well with each other, too, which always helps the teamwork. A+. Thanks, guys! You are awesome. I also wanted to add that I was worried that all items would fit in a 26-foot truck. They alleviated my worry as soon as they got there and told me that they would fit, with quite a bit of room to spare. Right again. They packed everything efficiently, and I still had a good 8 feet? of room? I'm still glad I chose the 26 foot truck, though, as the 16- footer could have been quite tricky, and I wanted the peace of mind and less stress on moving day. I reconnected with Joel in Hollywood and two other local guys. All of my stuff made it, and there really wasn't any damage! Again, Joel and the other two, Justin and Chris (and Moving Ahead dealt with finding local guys so I didn't have to worry about any of that), worked very hard and got everything moved in about an hour! Amazing. The two new guys were careful and polite, too. I had a nice chat with Joel after the move. I was actually sort of sad to see him go...he (along with everybody else) helped me out big time. He took care of all my belongings for many, many miles. He had a nice combination of professionalism (checked in with me to let me know how things were going -- all the reports were positive, he made perfect time...was always on track...) and laid-back ease. He seems like he could just roll with the punches and get the job done regardless of any potential obstacles, which is clearly a great quality to have as an employee of a company. Also, as a side note, great personality and hilarious! I have already had a few negative experiences in Los Angeles, but Moving Ahead sure made at least the moving part simple for me!! This review has been updated to have at least three stars at the request of the company: Our experience with Moving Ahead was mixed. It was easy to schedule the move and they were flexible with changing our moving dates when needed. Throughout the process, the management was easily reachable, friendly, and attentive to our complaints about the movers. When the movers got lost on the way to our new place for over an hour and were not answering our calls, the management was able to contact them and rectify the situation. This company was also significantly cheaper than other moving companies. It would be ideal for college students or young people who do not have valuable or fragile items. If you go with this company, please make sure that you watch the movers very carefully when they are loading the van, as we got into a number of situations where furniture or valuables that were clearly marked would have been seriously damaged if we had not been there to protect them. Also, the movers arrived without any tools, so make sure you have the tools that they will need to disassemble or reassemble any furniture. After a stressful experience trying to protect our furniture throughout the move, the movers slammed our dining room table into the hallway wall of our new apartment building, creating a sizeable hole in the drywall. They did not let us know about this, so we found it out only after we had tipped them and they left. Luckily the administration at Moving Ahead was immediately available to hear our complaints and worked with both us and the management of our apartment building to ensure that the damage to the apartment property and our dining table was addressed. Just make sure you don't check the box for "least reimbursement offered" when the move begins, as our movers encouraged us to do, since if you have any valuable furniture that might be damaged during the process that will mean you will get the least possible reimbursement for it. But I can say overall that, given our complaints about the movers, the company was great in getting back to us in a timely manner and apologizing for the damage caused by the movers. read more

The deal I received was 2 guys, a 16 foot truck, for two hours...I figured it would take 3 hrs total, but they did it in 2.5 hrs. Absolutely everything went smoothly; nothing was damaged or broken. Contacted these folks to move my son's "over sized" one bedroom apartment near OSU to a local storage locker. The communications from start to finish was excellent, Two VERY nice young men showed up exactly when they were supposed to. Did an assessment of needed to moved and started at it. They were hard workers--Bob and Galvin. They refused to take a break even at our insistence. Whole job took less that 3 hours which was amazing to me. ZERO STARS PRE-MOVE With excellent Angie's List reviews. I spoke what appeared to be a Cincinnati office of Moving Ahead Services moving co, and agreed to book Sat June 3. At that time, we reviewed the layout of the apartment we were moving from: Two floor 3-BR apt with 1 car garage, many boxes from July 2016 move, garage with items and boxes. Specialty items: upright piano, freezer, armoires. During initial call, carefully gave our apt address, email address and phone number, and described the layout of the condo we were moving to: Two floor 3 BR condo with basement and 2 car garage. To benchmark our June 3 move, I described the 2016 move into our apt, with number of men & trips taken. The company representative suggested and I agreed two trucks would be best for our move. I understood their would be a mileage charge. Because Moving Ahead has a Cincinnati phone number, it appeared there is a Cincinnati office and would be sending Cincinnati drivers, and I was not told otherwise. I was told to expect the movers to arrive at 9:00am June 3. I heard nothing further from them, so I called and spoke with the Moving Ahead Services Cincinnati week prior to confirm move, which they did per our original phone conversation. MOVE DAY TRAVEL & ARRIVAL Movers called at 9:20am to say they had just 1 truck, three (not four+) movers, and had just left Columbus. They expected to arrive in Cincinnati around 10:30am. At about 10:40am, I called the movers, who said they were on their way to northern KY to a street with a similar name as ours. We gave them the corrected OH address and they turned back. They arrived 2.5 hours late at 11:30am. They parked squarely in front of the driveways of 2 of our neighbors, not understanding that would cause a problem. They actually did this for two of their three trips. The lead mover presented us the company liability options, not discussed during either phone call. They showed us the paperwork they received that listed both our misspelled street and email addresses. We asked them to wrap our white living room furniture to keep it clean, and not to carry out sofa or chair cushions unwrapped. One man started to carry a white upholstered chair out, and we saw he had created brown marks on it in the process. It will have to be professionally cleaned and hope the stains will come out. They had enough wrap for only some of the upholstered furniture. We happened to have extra large garbage bags, and used them for some of the pillows and cushions. If we hadn't provided these bags, our cushions would have been placed uncovered into the truck. Other upholstery did go into the truck without any protective covering. They did not have any wrap products for our mattresses or box springs, so they went into the dirty truck and came out dirty. In a post-move phone call with the company, they said mattress covers are an extra charge. We were never offered this option, which we would have taken. CONCLUSIONS We were told by phone to expect the final amount to be around $1800. Instead, it was $2500 + $250 insurance on damage. Also, while we understood their would be a mileage charge, the $300 mileage to/from Columbus instead of Cincinnati was a surprise. Our crew left their trash lying around throughout the day which we had to pick up. They asked us what we did for a living, and commented on how much we owned. One man spent a tremendous amount of time on his cell phone throughout the entire job. We provided Gatorade and bottled water. I don't know what they'd have done without it. They seemed to not want to move large items to the basement, saying they wouldn't fit. Based on previous owner's furniture, we knew our furniture would fit. The apt driveway has a small patch of blacktop that remains gooey. We put white powder on it as a visual reminder, and asked them to avoid stepping in it. They repeatedly walked through it. (What a contrast to our cable installer, who wore bootie covers to keep our floor clean.) One man told us this his first ever move job. If it wasn't bad enough that we were understaffed, we also had an inexperienced team. As the evening grew late, we felt we had to step and move items ourselves. Even with our help, the job ended at 1:15.AM This is unacceptable. We are now going to have hire another local company to move several large items, because the movers were exhausted and couldn't be counted on to move items upstairs or to the basement. In summary: It was an unprofessional move from a very late 11:30AM start to ridiculously late 1:15AM finish. We feel Moving Ahead misrepresented their company, the service they would provide us, and the charges. Moving Ahead staff were not professional. I called Moving Ahead 6-5-2017 to lodge our complaints, was assured I would hear back from them, and as of 6-10-2017 we have not received their response. read more

Entire experience was pretty much flawless. From my initial phone call till everything was complete was nothing less than a stellar performance by a team of obvious professionals. My early conversations with Liz provided me with not only the info I was looking for and budgetary pricing, but a level of patience and genuine concern that was nothing short of amazing. Each contact with her was equally professional - I always felt like I was the most important person she was dealing with each time. Excellent and critical, since she was creating my first impressions about the company. Matt was equally professional and obviously very knowledgeable and experienced about the moving process. He offered excellent advice and suggestions regarding our desire to store much of our furniture at the time of our move. His recommendations ultimately resulted in cost savings to us. Lastly, the team that came to move our belongings (Thomas, Johnny and David) were clearly NOT rookies, each exhibiting not just knowledge about what needed to be done and how to do it, but again, a level of care and concern for what we were going thru and our belongings that rivaled any/all previous moving experiences we've had before. True professionals who were polite, caring and worked their tails off to get the job done in the most efficient & timely manner possible. I did a Military relocation move and Moving Ahead Services did the loading of my household goods to move to VA. If you're not familiar with a military move, you have one company that does the packing, one company that loads up and moves your things, and one company that delivers and unloads/unpacks your things at your final destination. This is all coordinated by one major company - in my case, Stevens Worldwide. Fast forward to the day of the move - we were not given a time frame in which they would arrive - we were just told by the Military that someone had to be at the house with the movers from 8am - 5pm. We naturally assumed that they would be at the house at 8am. They were not. Many phone calls and several hours later, I finally decided to give up trying to contact my military liaison and Stevens Worldwide, and contacted Moving Ahead directly. Loooong story short, they finally arrived at 4:15pm (with only 2 loaders - 2 more showed up over an hour later) and got about 3/4 of the house loaded before a torrential downpour put the kabash on the rest of the loading. They came back the following morning and finished loading in a few hours. The reason why I'm still giving them 4 stars is because, despite my extreme frustration and stress, they took full ownership of everything, apologized profusely, and worked with us until 8:30pm to make everything right. You don't come across that kind of honesty from businesses these days - most are quick to cite some fine print somewhere that they know you will never read, make up some BS to try to cover their a$#, or blame the customer. These guys didn't, and to a frustrated customer already stressed out beyond belief due to the process of selling a house in Ohio and buying one in Virginia, that little bit of honesty and integrity went a very long way. And at the end of it all, our household goods got loaded up and off to VA. They offered us a discount, but since the military was paying for the move, a discount didn't really do us any good. Since they knew that we had just sold the house and were closing the very day they finished loading everything up, they paid a professional cleaning service to come out and clean the entire house for us. Moving Ahead Services came through for us in the end despite a rocky start, and I would recommend them not only for their workhorse loaders (they were beasts!) but also for their excellent customer service and issue resolution. read more

Quick response to a quote request. I chose not to go with them because of the price. I checked around and they gave me the highest quote of any company so far (have 6 other qutoes). I just wanted to give a heads up to people that are moving on a budget not to waste your time. This company is 2 hours at $360! Then $120 per hour! WOW. EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! UPDATE! I originally gave this company 2 stars but after the owners lecturing response, I changed it to 1 star. Your price is extremely high. I don't appreciate basically being called a liar. $120 per hour is outrageous. You were the highest priced hourly rate moving company that I contacted so don't lecture me! I don't care how great your employees or your service, your pricing is high! I left a review because I noticed that you don't advertise your rates here, on your website or anywhere which wastes time because most would never contact you! With your pricing, I completely understand why you don't post it on your website. I am so glad that I didn't choose your company not only because of pricing but you seriously need to learn how to handle some criticism without pulling a "Trump" and turning into a bully! ALSO, look up the definition of slander, my review was honest, not sure how you are considering it slander. ANOTHER UPDATE: They changed their wording on the response to make it more polite! One thing that I did miss in my original update is that they made the statement about a truck and trip fee, but they charge $120 for this on top of $120 per hour! Also the other companies I've contacted have all stated they charge in 15 minute or 30 minute increments. We used Moving Ahead Services to rearrange furniture in our home during our remodeling project. Jeremy was the lead mover both times they came out. He and the other movers were extremely polite, prompt, professional and conscientious. They took extreme care in handling our furniture and were very careful not to scratch our new hardwood floors. We have used many other movers when our children moved from college to jobs out of state, and these moves were not positive experiences. How we wish we had known about Moving Ahead Services!
