I used Moving Buddies for moving my 1 BR house. They were very thorough from my inventory to wrapping all of my belongings in shrink wrap and blankets to protect them. I appreciated this very much since my items will be stored in storage. Two really nice guys and they were pretty efficient! The only challenge I have is that I was quoted for 2 hours for the number of items that I have. But I wasn't aware that all of the wrapping would take place which set us over the 2 hours, therefor charging me more. Overall, a good experience. read more

We were way behind and had greatly overestimated or own abilities in our recent move. We were desperate and decided to throw money at the problem and get movers even though we're were about half way done already. Moving Buddy was cheaper for the two hour minimum than Two Men And A Truck and could come the next day. They were amazing, fast professional, and careful with our belongings. They got all the rest of our move done within the two hour minimum. Professionals are so much faster and better than we and our friends. I had a very good experience with Moving Buddies. Jim was very helpful and professional to deal with from the office side, I was satisfied with the two movers who helped me, and am thrilled that all my stuff arrived at its destination with just two pieces damaged (see below). It was well worth the $200-something. Moving Buddies came highly recommended by a friend of mine who had used them summer 2014 to help her load relocubes for shipment through ABF/UPack. I was going to be making a similar cross country move using relocubes, so I called Moving Buddies for a quote. I talked to Jim and he was really helpful, offering tips on packing and using relocubes even though I had only called for an estimate. (Moving Buddies is one of the crews Tucson ABF hires out to when you purchase loading help from them) A few days later, I called Moving Buddies and arranged to have a crew of two arrive at my house the Saturday morning after the relocubes were delivered. After giving me a verbal estimate, I was emailed a receipt which unfortunately had the wrong estimate for what we had just discussed (it estimated more hours and a different discount). I called Jim right back, he apologized, and sent me a corrected estimate right back. I think this was a one off error and am only mentioning it to be thorough and show his responsiveness. I was concerned not all my things would fit into the two cubes I ordered and wanted to maximize the time I had with the movers (you have to pay a minimum of 2 hours), so I had disassembled, moved, and neatly organized all the boxes, drawers, and furniture I could into the garage (right next to the cubes), and into the living room by the front door. The two movers arrived almost right on time, friendly and professional, with a big truck, dollies, and plastic. However, they seemed very tired. Saturday at 8:30 AM might not be the best time to have movers arrive and is something I would consider if I were to use them again. For my move I tried to maximize my space by removing and packing all the furniture drawers, and fitting them back in the furniture just outside or in the relocubes (to cut down on how far the heavy furniture would have to be moved). This is the way I've moved in the past and has always worked well for me (I have great old, all wood furniture). However it seemed to throw off the movers who wanted to leave the drawers out of the furniture, which they had started wrapping in plastic before I realized it. That would completely defeat the purpose of packing stuff in drawers to maximize space and would be a complete mess since the drawers didn't have tops, so I insisted the drawers be placed in the furniture before loading. This then posed a problem because they normally tip the furniture vertical when packing. I don't know whether they were just tired or new to packing, but I got the sense that they had been trained to pack the cubes a certain way and were a bit stumped when I insisted on something else. There were a couple other things they did along the way that I questioned (such as not disassembling the hutch on my desk - which arrived at my destination with part of the wooden top and the latches broken). Without going into more detail, I thought they worked diligently and efficiently, were respectful of my wishes, and also were careful about wrapping all my furniture well in plastic (though on arrival some of it had torn a bit and one dresser top was marred - but I was very lucky to have just had that problem). All in all, I believe I got the most of the two hours they were with me. However, while they worked steadily, at times I didn't think they were very concerned with the fragile nature of some of the boxes and materials. In looking back, I am very happy with my decision to hire Moving Buddies. However, I would recommend that you carefully pack, plan, and organize before they arrive and participate in helping them load your items so as to make sure the fragile things are handled with care, and that things are packed/loaded well given the particulars of your stuff and situation. read more

Had these guys off load my moving truck. My wife and I drove across the country and to be honest I was skeptical about some of the moving companies. Some were very overpriced. From day 1 when I called they were very professional. On the day they arrived I was informed that someone didn't show up for work. The owner himself came. They worked hard and quickly, ensuring to be careful. There was still time on the 2 hours I paid for so they even put beds and furniture together. Well worth the money. Let me first say that the three guys who moved us were very helpful, friendly, courteous and patient! They worked very hard and due to starting early afternoon, they hustled until midnight to complete our move! That being said, unfortunately, there was some minor damage; a broken wheel off an office chair, broken garden decor, a missing shelf peg, a leg off a TV stand and a dented edge on a wood credenza from an over tight strap. While I know there are issues from a move, I was not please to see some of these items broken and was not notified right away....I had to find them myself. Overall, the work was done efficiently as possible, liked the guys and Jim was always pleasant and helpful when I talked to him. I thought the charge was very reasonable for the move. read more

Thank you all for the hard labor on such a HOT day in Tucson! I am never moving in the summer here again. Overall this company has integrity and very good customer service. They stick to their word and ultimately they are good people. I had to move myself and our 2 animals with my fiancé away on a business trip, so we hired a crew of two from Jim. They arrived earlier than our scheduled time but waited for me to return from the "new place" to start working. We did run into some mis-communications about the estimation on the how long the job would take but I will explain and hopefully guide future customers to asking the right questions in order to have fair expectations of the job you will be paying for. Jim and I already spoke about this after the job was complete and he agreed to my feedback being supportive and valid in light of what we all experienced. To me a business owner that is receptive to feedback and the customer's needs is one that is successful at putting the customer first and empowering them to have a voice in their contract agreement. I attest to Jim and his movers being professional when all was said and done. My fiancé did a phone evaluation with owner Jim before leaving on his work trip which turned out to be a lowball estimate. My father was a contractor and I understand this method of getting clients however in this case I think it was more of a lack of awareness to how much we were moving and the distance the movers had to walk to and from the apartment. We were quoted 2 hours for a one bedroom (2nd floor) into a 2 bedroom (2nd floor) which now sounds TOTALLY CRAZY to think that would have ever been possible. The actuality of it was that it took us almost 2 hours to get the truck loaded. By that time I was slightly freaking out, realizing that our quote of $75 an hour for 2 hours was looking more like a 4 or 5 hour job (in my mind). My fiancé expressed his dissapoinment to Jim over the phone which started a bit of an uproar and Jim immediately halted his movers and the loaded truck to come down and talk to me directly. He was very respectful and apologetic and took responsibility for words exchanged with my fiancé over the phone. He looked at the truckload and paced out the path (in feet) that the guys took to load it up and estimated that with the distance and how much we stuff we had they were moving at a fair pace. To make it right with me and to help me get through this move without any more aggrevation, we made a deal to NOT exceed 4 hours of time on the overall move. He also told me that the guys were NOT going to be taxing me their break time (about 20 mins) which they had failed to mention. SO, just a note that the breaks will NOT be added up into the total time of your move. Had they told me that upfront, I would have felt less stress and would not have been watching the clock. Jim also took the time to make things right with my fiancé who was trying to look out for me from a distance and did NOT want me to be taken advantage of by movers. He was able to apologize and make my fiancé feel right with the situation which really helped us get through the day! I appreciate that he showed up on the job and like that he took the time to represent his own business. The movers were also very good under pressure and took it all with a grain of salt and did NOT loose their cool under the stress of our re-negotiations. On the other end, the guys picked up the pace a bit and we had everything into the "new place" in under an hour! Granted they were able to back in right under our stairs which helped tremendously! Jim held true to his word and only charged us for 3 hours of time, plus a $75 truck fee (which I am not sure was part of the original deal because my fiancé negotiated it)...but either way our total move came in at the price we shook on. I was really happy to have everything in my new place, no dents or bruises but VERY tired from hustling all day. I tipped the guys $10 each because they did a good job and they held it together when we complained. My tips for YOU!! -Pace out your path that the movers will have to walk to get from your front door to the truck and be VERY clear with Jim when you do your phone estimate. -Budget in an extra hour of time (set the money aside) to be ready if the move takes longer than planned. If you come in under the estimated time, use the money for things you will need in the "new place" -Pack your things well!! Use moving boxes or BIG tubs to fit lots in at once. Small things slow down the movers because they have to pack them up into large wardrobe boxes. DOnt worry about weight, they can handle that on the dollies. -Be aware that the heat will slow the move down (allow for breaks, that will NOT be on your time clock). Thanks Jim, Dakota and Terry. Moving buddies gave me an awesome service. Moving is usually very stressful and Small moving companies normally throw in extra prices. Not Moving Buddies! From the start they were honest and up front with everything. We moved into our first house and had Moving Buddies move us from our rental house and our storage unit that was across town. The storage unit has been sitting for 7 years and had a lot of dust and Jim and Anthony didn't complain once. I felt so bad. They unloaded everything and put everthing in its place and put it together for me. They handled all my boxes and furniture with care like it was their own. I used Moving Buddies/Elite Movers twice. The first time was great, but the second move which happened almost a week ago was the worst moving experience I have had. I work for the largest private employer in Tucson and move quite a bit for the role that I have. My first move was coordinated by Moving Buddies through the owner, Jim Boeher. He seems professional and helpful, and he sent two men who knew that time was money and that my quote officially given to me was for two hours. I had a one bedroom apartment with barely any furniture, since I travel light. I moved about 8 miles away and paid 87/hour plus another 87 for a traveling fee. In two hours my stuff was packed and moved to my new location, and I was very happy with the service. My most recent move however, was a completely different story. The movers assessed my belongings and said it would take an hour for them to pack up and head to my new place which was 5 miles away. The movers had given me the same exact quote I received on my first move, which made sense to me since I had only half of the same amount. My stuff fit in the tiniest UHAUL storage unit to give you a better indication of how little I had with me. I had the movers for 2 hours so with taxes included I would be at around $216. Well, an hour and a half into my 2 hours, I don't see any signs of my movers. I was at my apartment waiting and called. They had got stuck behind a funeral procession. When they finally got to my place, they decided they had to turn the truck around. Jim, the owner was now one of the movers. He brought along another gentleman who was GREAT. Jim however, was in no physical shape to be moving anything. He was also in no hurry to quickly move things and it was his employee who ended up doing most the work. At a certain point, I notice we are 3 hours in (my friend and I were also helping with the movers to save time). I see Jim taking his time just sweeping the truck and ask him to stop the time. I also told him that my quote was for 2 hours and that they took 3. He told me he wouldn't stop the time until I ran back to my apartment and brought down his employee and tore down boxes. I went and grabbed his employee and ask Jim again to stop the time. He says he will as soon as he turns the truck around. This made NO sense, since I have a one way entrance and exit out of my apartment complex, and the truck was already in the right direction to leave. I start telling him I think that is unnecessary to which he begins yelling at me and calling me manipulative. I pay for his 3 hours and gave no tips. I also told him that he should have quote his customers correctly and survey their belongings. I felt cheated that he told me 2 hours and that he did my first move in the same time. He told me he fired the movers who did my move the first time, and I told him that they were excellent. Bottom line: Jim has little understanding of customer satisfaction or respect. He also is physically out of shape and should be hiring people to do the moves , so that he doesn't have to. It takes him much longer to move the smallest things and he has no incentive or desire to hustle to help you out time wise. Go use another moving company, because I guarantee you your quote will be wrong and you will end up paying another 100-150 more. read more

I used James Boer and Moving Buddies in May to move my things from my home in Tucson. The plan was for 3 movers and one truck. Unfortunately, James sent two guys and couldn't get the right sized truck. It was too small. The plan was to take my things to ABF for transport to Colorado. It took all day and at the end James had to bring in another truck and a trailer. He totally underestimated how long or how many things I had. It cost me almost twice as much as the estimate. It was too late in the day to get my things to ABF, so I had to leave Tucson knowing that he was keeping my things overnight. When he finally shipped everything, he called and told me that he didn't ship my two outdoor lounge chairs because they wouldn't fit on the ABF truck and that they weren't in that great of a condition anyway. I asked him to ship them anyway and he said he would, but never did. In addition, he failed to ship one of my dining room chairs, the hardware for one of my beds and a piece that belonged to an antique table. I've attempted to resolve this with him, but he refuses to answer my emails. I've asked him for his insurance information so I can make a claim and he refuses to respond. DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY. IT'S BAD NEWS ALL AROUND. read more

I am going to take a chance on all those reviews and hire this company when the time comes (when my least is up here!). This company is the best!!!! I am a single middle-aged woman who cares for 3 very dependent family members. I desperately needed to move from a rental home to a newly purchased home. It was the final week of the month and I needed to avoid paying additional rent if it wasn't absolutely necessary. This company understood my needs, were compassionate and highly professional throughout the entire process. One of the bosses came to my home, evaluated my moving needs, on a Sunday, even!!! He submitted a VERY FAIR estimate of the costs required to move me and didn't exceed that estimate, although it turned out to be a challenging job since we couldn't pre-pack much for the job which lied ahead. These guys packed and moved us in to my new by the end of the next day. It was a three person moving team (Jim, David and Angel) and these guys are the BEST MOVERS I have ever hired!!! (And I should know, since I have been a military brat and a wife of a DOD civilian employee and have moved frequently throughout my life.) These guys were punctual, worked so hard (they said they took rest breaks but I didn't see any of them happen), they took excellent care of my belongings and also did all the little unanticipated extras that massive moving jobs often require...and with no complaints and a positive and cheerful attitude, despite the exhaustion. We used moving buddies at the end of April. We had received a quote from the owner, Jim at the beginning of April for our whole house. We ended up only moving all the furniture to save some money. jim's wife (I'm sorry, I forgot your name!) was very sweet and efficient. She called back for follow up and worked with our moving date and new plan for moving just the furniture. The movers called when they were on their way and arrived on time. They were very thorough in packing and loading into the van and again when they we unloading. We had a few snags (like furniture not actually fitting through the doors) and they were quick to acting on new solutions to getting everything inside. They wrapped everything to protect it which was so nice because every time we move things ourselves, things get messed up and cost me more money! They were professional, polite and efficient.
