In the midst of all the damage from the latest ice storm and black out, I had a very large tree branch sitting on my roof that was still dangling from the mature oak. And on top of it all, a new snow storm was coming! I called Brian in a bit of a panic, and he was able to pull a crew together and get the work done before the next storm hit. Amazing! His communication throughout the process was great. To speed things up he was able to provide an estimate from the photos I sent. He showed up when he said he would, and within a couple of hours all the debris surrounding my house was gone. As a bonus, I even got a few new logs for the firepit out of the deal! One of the things I particularly enjoyed was that while Brian can bring in a crane if needed, this job was a rope, climb, and saw operation. Two guys and a wood chipper got it all done. Brian's a busy guy. He's booked up for the next month, but he also spent some time to discuss the health of my large trees, and his thoughts on what should be done to get them shored up. The employees are so knowledgeable and their goals are for tree health, not cut down and remove. Although if there is a situation of a very unhealthy tree, the first step is discussing a plan on how to make it better. Removal is last resort, so when that is needed - they are professional, safe and clean. They provide info on native species to replace any tree if they were removed or if you want to add more trees. Always check with your city BEFORE removing trees, you usually need a permit and if you know ignore this rule and are caught later - the fines are HUGE. (This didn't happen to me, I have read this directly from my townships website.)

Last fall, I had some tree removal and pruning that I needed done and received multiple quotes from various companies. Several of the trees presented a danger to my home, and I knew at least one was going to be especially challenging as all the other companies said they'd need a crane to get to it. It was a large job, and the quote was over $5,000. Davey's certified arborist, Shannon, came by on *multiple occasions* to scope the job and said they could do it with a bucket truck and didn't need a crane. He gave me a quote that was extremely competitive, so we signed a contract to have them come do the work. On the day the work was scheduled to be done, Shannon showed up with his crew and his equipment, including the bucket truck. The members of the crew balked at the job and said they wouldn't do it without a crane. Shannon said he'd go back to the office and let me know when they could come again with the crane. Later that week, he called to tell me they couldn't do the job after all - even with a crane. Davey Tree Service left me in the lurch and cost me thousands of dollars trying to find a replacement company that could handle the task they said they could do but later admitted they weren't capable of doing. Not recommended at all. Find someone who'll honor their agreements.

They are the most professional company I've worked with (not just tree removal). I had a few concerns with removing the tree's: like damage to my new driveway, how close the large maple is to my house, and how close my backyard trees were to my neighbors garage. Brian (owner) came out a second time to take a look at my concerns and was confident they would have no issues. They even gave me their insurance policy with the quote so I could feel reassured that if something did happen, their insurance would take care of it. The crew was extremely friendly and professional and very helpful answering some questions I had this morning. They showed up exactly when they said they would. They have 6 guys working and got the four 20+ft spruce trees down, cut up, and chipped within 45 minutes! The largest tree in my front yard required the use of a Crane, and the entire jobs including clean up was about 4.5 hours. Overall I felt relieved and happy that this job was done well and we can move onto the next project. I will definitely use Spear's tree service again and would recommend them to anyone in need of tree removal.
