The salon has nothing but nice people and a nice feel to it. I used to go to a salon in Georgetown, but the person who did my hair left and relocated. MOXee is the best salon. I have a friend who said she will always go there, even if she has to take an airplane to get there. I've been there I think at least four times now it's easily accessible by foot from Georgetown, Dupont Circle, West End, etc. It is a close walk from the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro and the whole George Washington University area. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. You will get expertise of service and a round of kindness from all you meet there I could not give this salon a better review. It's hard to do when they're the best. I go to Nathalie and she's wonderful. A friend of mine goes to Camille and she absolutely loves her, too. There are no weak links on the MOXee team. Camille is downright mean. I am a student and simply asked her about the price once and asked if there was something better she could do and she was incredibly rude to me. I went ahead and agreed with the treatment, Camille assured me the coloring would last 6-8 weeks, it didn't last more than 2 weeks. My hair yet again had the same golden streaks. I was coming here monthly for a spot treatment coloring of my bangs (get some grey hair there) and Camille always seemed nasty towards the fact that I didn't want my whole head done and wanted to get a good deal. When I called Camille almost started yelling at me on the phone, I simply asked if this was normal for the golden streaks to return so quickly. Eventually, Camille agreed to remediate the situation by refunding the $$. 2 weeks later, I still don't have the money back on my card. Seems like they are short on money. Using bad products that don't last and now not refunding me the money. Completely agree with earlier review that stated: "Don't bother with Camille, unless of course you enjoy getting upset and feeling sick after you leave her salon. Camille is not fit to color anyone's hair. Because of all the toxic products she put on my hair at once, I didn't feel well when I got home." I am not sure what I'll do about the $$, prob will contest it on my cc and go from there. Really unfortunate situation because I live across the street and this would have been such an easy place to go. Crazy how after going to Moxee monthly they find it ok to be so rude. Camille is an excellent stylist. I could not be happier with my haircut. I had long, dried-out hair that hadn't seen the gleam of a professional's shears in over two years, and today Camille restored my hair to what it should be -- full of pizazz, movement, and life! She's friendly, as well as serious about her craft. She fully understood my request for a long shag/long layered cut and did a fantastic job. Before coming in, I was worried that I would get a big poufy outdated cut -- my worries were silly, in the end. Honestly, a stylist who can carefully listen to her clients is gold, but I also appreciate a stylist who takes the time to give suggestions. Camille does both. I also appreciate that she didn't insist on chattering (I'm a total introvert) and just got down to business. As she applied her shears to my hair and I watched my locks fall to the ground, I thought about how much trust goes into literally placing your head in another person's hands. And I'm so glad I trusted Camille because she did a fantastic job. She styled my hair beautifully, too, and was very nice when I asked her about the products she used, taking time to explain how I should style my hair afterward to maximize the cut. The salon carries Verb haircare products, which I purchased and look forward to using. Additional thanks to Daisy, who shampooed, conditioned, and massaged my hair so well that I almost fell asleep. The online booking feature was convenient, and the salon followed up with me about additional openings via phone. Daisy did an excellent job washing my hair and the head massage she gave the exact relaxation I needed. Perry was super easy to talk to, and he listened to exactly what I wanted before and during the cut. The first time I went to the salon I ended up not being happy with how my hair turned out. I didn't have them dry it as I was putting it up for the day anyway so I didn't truly realize until I was home. I have my best friend's wedding in 3 days so I was pretty upset. I have never been one to speak up when I dislike something (I know it's not a great quality) but they sent a text asking about my experience. I was honest and the owner reached out right away. I explained to her what happened but with limited time to make it back into the salon, I didn't think there would be a solution. The owner got me a spot with the incredible stylist Israel. He did so much work to correct my hair, him and the owner stayed past closing to finish up, and were the kindest people! My hair now looks better than it EVER has! If there was a minus 10 It would be for Camille, the owner of Moxee Salon NW DC When I walked in and met Camille I told her what I wanted. She became nasty and haute. That is when I should have walked out of her salon. She put three color products on my hair at once. I had her do a single process and highlights, and instead of he highlights being at the scalp they were two inches above my hairline. It looked as if I had highlights 3 months ago. Because the lighting was not conducive to fully see what she did at her salon, I called her after I got home and asked her to redo my hair. She was incredibly nasty so I said you either fix my hair or give me back my money. She sent me a refund email, but never put down the credit card I used. Camille and Trish are very dishonest Camille is a lousey hairstylist and is nasty, rude. I called Trish her receptionist and she said it will take a month to get my money back. That is when I called the DCRA, a cosmetology regulatory agency. Don't bother with Camille, unless of course you enjoy getting upset and feeling sick after you leave her salon. I will start with the aspects of my experience at Moxee that earned starts: Everyone was very nice and professional. Daisy, the woman who shampooed my hair, did an excellent job! My hair stylist, Perry, was friendly and engaged. Perry seems very experienced and skilled, my cut is even, and my color is fine. However, despite having a consultation appointment prior to my appointment for a cut/highlights and bringing pictures that we looked at together, my haircut was nothing at all like we discussed. For example, I specifically requested that my hair in the front fall a few inches below my chin and the back be shorter than the front, as it was in the multiple photos I brought. I now have a bob that is at or shorter than chin length and looks the the same length all the way around (although it is slightly shorter in the back, but the difference is so minimal you can't really tell). Overall, I was left feeling very confused and disappointed with how off base my cut ended up. read more
