Great food choices and customer service. Connected to sandman hotel so very convenient if you are staying there.

We came here because it was next to our hotel. We'd arrived after a long flight and didn't feel like driving. I ordered the short rib beef dip sandwich. Can't highly recommend it. The beef was sparse and a bit dry, which was curious since the bread was quite greasy. I upgraded my side to a "power greens" salad which I did actually enjoy. The greens were fresh and topped with a pleasant poppyseed dressing. Topping it were thick slices of strawberries and postage-stamp size asiago shavings. My wife ordered chicken tenders and fries which were pretty average. As they are at most places. A locally-brewed session IPA whose name I can't recall (Quidi Vidi was the brewery) was on tap and we thought that was quite tasty. Service was quick and personable. read more

A Disappointing First Visit to Moxie's Last night, my husband and I, accompanied by another couple, decided to try out Moxie's for the first time. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. Upon ordering an appetizer to share, we were surprised to find that plates and cutlery were not provided until a few minutes after the dish was delivered. This initial hiccup set the tone for the evening. While my husband and I enjoyed our meals, the other couple ordered steaks. The medium steak arrived well-done, and we were informed by the food runner that there had been an incident in the kitchen, resulting in the need for a remake. Unfortunately, this meant that three of us had nearly finished our meals by the time the last one was delivered. Throughout the dining experience, our waitress failed to inquire about the quality of our food after the appetizer, and she neglected to ask if we wanted refills. While she did take the initiative to discount the affected meal and remove a glass of wine from the bill, the overall service did not meet our expectations. Given the premium prices at Moxie's, we anticipated a higher standard of service. In the event of a mistake like the one with the steak, we would have expected a manager to visit our table and offer a sincere apology. Unfortunately, this level of customer service was lacking. While the food quality for two of us was satisfactory, the overall experience was marred by service shortcomings. We hope that Moxie's takes steps to improve their customer service to match the premium dining experience they aim to provide. First impression are so important and our was very disappointing, needless to say we won't be back. read more

My husband and I had dinner on our last night in St. John's this past week (July 2024). The restaurant looked cute, and it was not very busy, which made our experience head-scratching. We ordered drinks, which took a very long time to arrive even though there was only one customer at the bar. My red wine sangria was not very good (and had a weird "citrus slush" on top of only half of it, which was strange for various reasons), but my husband seemed to enjoy his margarita. Our food arrived literally one minute later and was also underwhelming. I had ordered the spicy habanero mango salmon, which was a summer special, and is served as a sandwich. I ordered it on a bed of lettuce instead, and was told this could be accommodated; however, when it arrived, it was on a lettuce bun, which I had specified to the server was NOT what I wanted... They offered to take it in the back and "re-do it," but I declined and just adjusted it on my end. The salmon was super salty, and was not particularly spicy, feedback of which I gave to the server, who offered to have them re-make it (I declined again). I also ordered the parmesan truffle fries, which were also not very good (too much parmesan, not enough truffle oil/flavor; btw, Gypsy Tavern on Water Street has amazing truffle fries!!). The bright spot in this experience (and the reason for it being 3 stars and not 2 stars) was the Churro ice cream sandwich. When it arrived, I had very low expectations, as I love churros and did not want to be disappointed. However, I took the first bite and it was surprisingly delicious! The churro had just the right amount of crunchiness on the outside and gooey-ness on the inside. The French Vanilla ice cream was fine, but the churros are what make the dish. My partner put it best when she said "if there were a restaurant between Jack Astor's on Harbour Drive it would be this". A bit fancy, but also super casual. We had hot wings to start, and while the sauce was really good, the wings were a little soggy/undercooked, could have used another minute. The steak was delicious, cooked exactly as I ordered, seasoned perfectly. My partner said her's was a bit under, but she still enjoyed it. Amazing place, great food and the best service consistently! I am impressed by everything from the food and ambiance of the restaurant to the host, server (thanks Chloe for the best service tonight!), chefs and management! I have been to moxies locations across the country but this is by far the best one and is better than any other restaurant I've been to so far within NL! The ramen is the best I've ever had, and I love the beef vindaloo, fish and chips, beef dip and all appetizers! read more

Haven't had dinner there yet, but the desserts are great! When everything else in St John's is shut down on a Sunday night, and you are in desperate need of sweets, Moxie's provides. Of note: the caramel pecan cheesecake and the dark chocolate cake. Perfect to satisfy a craving! read more

Great lunch environment. I've taken both clients and team members to lunch here with excellent service each time. The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is well suited for a classy yet comfortable environment. The blackened chicken burger was delicious as was "The Burger". Would recommend over most chain restaurants in the uptown area read more

Overpriced food, alright quality and the service was slow and the wait times were unbelievably an hour or more long. If you want wait times longer then Raymond's with food that is closely priced to Raymond's and a environment of Boston pizza if it was a art student.worse quality fries than a food truck. Best part was desert at least they can't mess up ice cream. The restaurant just needs to focus on lowering they're prices and working on expanding the kitchen because I know the chefs can't keep up with the orders but the people were nice at least. read more
