Had a fantastic stay at the Moxy Asheville! The location is absolutely unbeatable--super walkable to restaurants, breweries, shops, and everything downtown Asheville has to offer. Having an on-site parking garage was also a huge plus and made coming and going incredibly easy. The hotel itself was spotless. The gym was surprisingly well-equipped and very clean, and the pool area was a great place to relax after a day of exploring. One of my favorite touches was checking in at the bar--it immediately set the fun, laid-back vibe that Moxy is known for. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and I loved the miscellaneous closet stocked with helpful items guests might need. The only two drawbacks, according to my travel companion, were the lack of a refrigerator and a coffee maker in the room. Neither was a dealbreaker, but they would have made the stay even better. Other observations: our room is also kinda narrow. The setup, if two queen beds facing one another with a Tetris-style couch in between. There is very little counter space anywhere, unless you use the couch as a nightstand. A little odd to have a folding table (found hanging), but glad it existed. These fancy hangers kept falling off the holders. A typical hanger would have stayed put better (maybe). Also, there is no closet, so one has to hang clothes against a wall. So overall, for them, storage was an issue. If you are there only a couple of days, not a biggie, but for an extended stay, this setup would be very impractical. Great location, easy to walk or drive to plenty of places. If you park in the garage they'll give you a pass to easily get in and out for $17 a day. They give you a bottle cap drink token when you check in. The drink was tasty! The elevators are interesting - you pick your floor and use your room card and it tells you which elevator to get on. There are no buttons in the elevator to select floors. The room was fine, but a few things could be improved. The shower floor was super slippery, the sink was so shallow and water was always all over the place, and lighting could be brighter near the mirrors. The room did not have a fridge but they did have bags of ice that you could get from a freezer in the gym. They had a closet near the elevators that had some essentials and extra blankets and pillows. I really liked that concept! read more

TL;DR We booked to spend half of weekend by pool to arrive and find out it is closed. Even though heated pool is only open May - October. Staff incredibly sweet and lovely. Bed and pillows uncomfortable. Otherwise room super cute and clean. Pool - The literal entire reason I chose this hotel was for the rooftop pool. At check in I asked which floor it was on since it was heated I couldn't wait to pop in. The person checking me in was lovely but was sad to inform me that the pool is closed for the season. It's 75 degrees out. I was in Salt Lake City in March and swam in their rooftop pool with it being in the 60s outside. No where on their website, amenities etc does it list that it is a seasonal pool. I don't really have words for how frustrating and misleading half my trip was planned to be sitting out by pool reading and swimming. Bathroom - I loved the layout. If spouse is using restroom I can still get ready as the sink and mirror are in the entry hallway. This was brilliant and I love it. Water pressure is great. Liked the body wash. Bed - all springs. I toss and turn. At home we have a memory foam mattress. Here my spouse said every move I made moved his side of the bed versus absorbing it. Woke up sore from bed and pillows everyday. Pillow I needed way more as they are too thin. Spouse loves a flat pillow but these were too flat and unfortunately 2 were too thick. TV - worked great able to easily log into Netflix and watch some comedy specials in bed. Great size to watch and chill at the end of the day. When I received an email about check out there was a charge for F&B we did not grab and go nor did we go to the bar. I called and spoke with the front desk and they reviewed it, confirmed a few details and resolved. Any interaction with staff was very lovely, helpful and kind. They've a great team. read more

Lovely hotel wonderful restaurant, the seventh floor has incredible views couldn't be happier. But, the two girls or should I say "sergeants" at the host stand were incredibly mean and unprofessional. When it was brought to the managers attention, nothing was done. I live in Asheville and will have trouble taking my guest there again. The food was very good as it should be for 2 people at $250. 00 not including wine. My guest and myself did not drink alcohol. Moxy will forever and always be my go to. It's the perfect balance of eclectic character with the classic amenities we all love. Asheville Moxy is our new favorite. It's centrally located downtown and includes little pieces of art from local artists. The rooms itself are decorated with a slight outdoorsy vibe and the staff is truly incredible. My wife and I are in town and decided to try the Moxy brand by Marriott for a few nights, since it's centrally located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, and The Biltmore isn't far away. At first glance, the hotel looks nice. We parked briefly in the loading zone out front and went inside. One immediate surprise was that there's no traditional front desk -- check-in is on the second floor. A sign near the elevator would be helpful, as it wasn't obvious where to go. When we reached the second floor, we found a lively setup: a bar on the left, Starbucks on the right, check-in in the middle, a pool table, and even a dog adoption area next to the check-in desk. This is definitely a very dog-friendly hotel -- there were a lot of dogs during our stay. The associate who checked us in was excellent. She thanked us for being Titanium Elite members, wished us a happy anniversary, and included two complimentary drinks at the bar, which was a nice touch. Parking is $14 per day, or $17 for in-and-out access. When we headed up to the room, there were no luggage carts available. As we exited the elevator, we could hear a dog barking in one of the rooms, and the noise echoed down the hallway. Once we reached our room, the barking was still noticeable. We went back downstairs to get a cart and mentioned the barking to the staff, and they said they would check on it. The room itself is on the small side and feels fairly tight -- definitely not as open as the Marriott Presidential Suite we stayed in the night before, but that's expected with this brand's concept. After unloading our luggage, we went back down to the bar to use our complimentary drinks. The bartender was very friendly and made excellent cocktails. The food coming out of the kitchen looked great, and other guests were saying it was very good as well. This was our first night at the Moxy, so we'll see how the rest of the stay goes, but overall it's a fun, modern hotel with a great location and friendly staff. read more

I was not familiar with this hotel brand, but it is shooting for something specific, and you'd think I might be the target audience. It is a downtown location, shoots for efficiency with tiny rooms, but offers a bit of style and an upscale vibe. I found checking in at the bar a bit odd, and the elevator where one orders one at a console and there are no buttons to call for your floor inside the elevator seemed needlessly complicated to me. The room was indeed tiny and did indeed look cool. However, the functionality wasn't what I'd hoped in all respects. A nasty metal lip awaits anyone stepping into the shower. There was no desk or table in my room, just a bed and a single chair. I did get a free upgrade to a mountain room based on my rewards status, which is nice. Internet was good and didn't require any effort to log in. There are a lot of hotels in Asheville, and I would consider trying some of the other ones but could see finding myself here again. read more

My first impression is small but unique .. very Manhattan style hotel design, micro but boutique. I like the design and colors. My room has a great view of the mountains. This review should be more like a 4.5 because they do excel at what their goal for this hotel is. Check in at the bar. Fast. Friendly. Small area to sit and visit by a fireplace. Board games are scattered throughout the hotel spaces. People love to gather in the evening, visit and drink. Food. Rooftop restaurant and bar with indoor and patio seating(opening in Feb 2025). Great views. Across a 2nd floor breezeway with the next door Marriott Aloft. At least a dozen coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Room. I am a mix. Love the shower design. Decent counter top for the sink space. The bed is comfy. The view is beautiful. The TV pulled out and pivoted from the wall. Coming for a short stay that is purely for sleep and relax and walk downtown Asheville, then you will enjoy your stay. I do not feel it is suited for longer visits due to lack of space to spread out and sit as well as very little clothes hanging options. There is no in room coffee maker, frig or ice bucket .. you have to go to the hotel front foyer for coffee. (UPDATE: Manager stated if I was here for a lengthy stay she can solve some of these.) Access: Little space on the street for ride share or friends to pull up and drop you off. I provided the Aloft Hotel address for pickup since it has a pick up and drop off area. Workspace: None in the rooms. However, the first floor and its loft have plenty of shared space to setup including power outlets. The Aloft has space as well. Others: They share a 3rd floor rooftop pool with Aloft. Cabanas, lounge chairs, bar tops, an outside bar and a great view of the mountains. The gym is spacious and has lots of options with a view of downtown Asheville. Enjoyed the complementary earbuds and ice bags. read more

Pretty Mid as the kids like to say. Small rooms which they are trying to compensate for with heavy design work. If the rooms were 15% bigger they could pull it off, but especially in a 2-queen room it is NYC apartment tight. Bar/check-in desk situation is rather confusing at first. As is the key card activated elevator- which prompts you to select a floor from the outside key pad. Pool is actually next door at the aloft (where I would stay next time). Overall I can appreciate the design work they did to compensate for the space but it doesn't quite work. With that said - the location of this hotel right in town, the plentiful parking, and nice (also shared with aloft) gym were the bright spots. read more

Marriott's boutique hotels leave a lot to be desired. At The Moxy, in Asheville , you have to enter into a crowded bar area to check in at the bar. With the elevator is directly behind you, there is guest confusion with a terrible layout where people are bumping into one another. Don't expect any assistance with your bags, there isn't any. For the absorbent price, this place is lacking more than I can begin to explain. Coming off the elevator is less than impressive- it looks like you're headed to a janitorial closet. The hallways are the whole experience is not a good one. The rooms are ridiculously small, double queen room has no desk, no chair, no side table. The sink is in the room so, if your partner gets up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, you get to hear them washing their hands. The beds are foot to foot against the wall so, your partner or you have to scoot over you cannot get out of the bed from one side. I wish I could say the beds were at least comfortable, but they're not. They are not up to Marriott standards, at all There's some ridiculous IKEA style plastic cushions on a platform with no back support so that cannot replace a couch or chair. It's like they really don't want you staying in the hotel room other than to possibly sleep. Even with my Marriott platinum status, I was unable to get an upgrade and could not get a room with any type of view whatsoever. Marriott needs to do better. This is awful. The artwork on the walls is cheap crap, the lighting fixtures are also cheap and limited. Everything is cheap looking but yet they get more than premium price for this hotel. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I would suggest finding somewhere else to stay. I dont see the "charm" or "vibe" at all! read more

Moxy is in a great location downtown and has a really cool vibe. The hotel is on the newer side compared to some of the other hotels in downtown. You check in at the bar and they give a drink ticket (a bottle cap) for a free drink, which I didn't use because the drink options are limited to just a few things and nothing that appealed to me. The rooms are small, and it was weird how the beds were situated. The bathroom was cool and I love the rain shower. The lights were the weirdest thing, one switch seemed to control all the lights and that switch was by the one bed, so you had to climb over the bed to reach it. Maybe there was another way to do it, but it shouldn't be so complicated. And you should be able to turn off particular lights and not just everything at once. The game area on the upper lobby is cool. Parking was only $15 for overnight if you pay through the city. Great location, cool vibe overall. read more

Hands-down the worst Starwood/Marriott hotel we have ever stayed in (and that's saying a lot, considering my wife and I are Bonvoy members... My wife has been Titanium Elite for many years) We knew the rooms would be super small (with no real amenities, not even a closet) based on the reviews... But we didn't know there would be myriad other problems here: The parking situation is terrible. It is very poorly explained in their welcome email - it doesn't say you should park in the garage before even checking in (you are somehow just supposed to know that), and then you can't pull into it coming from the direction of the hotel! Once in the garage, signs are confusing or non-existent (for example, there is not exit sign anywhere... Lots of signs say "street" but you just have to keep driving where it says "parking" until eventually signs will say "Goodbye" You also have to lug your luggage up or down stairs from the parking garage, because there is no elevator from the garage entrance floor. The pool situation (next door at the Aloft) also sucks. We went down at 10 am and all seats were taken, and the tiny pool (like 15x25 ft) was teeming with children. There also appear to be no pool towels available They didn't honor an upgrade request (part of my wife's Titanium Elite perks), and then when my wife requested late checkout (a guarantee for Titanium Elite members), they said they would do it... But we were locked out of our room when we returned at noon. When they "updated our keycard' at the bar (aka the registration desk), it still didn't work. Meanwhile, we saw them hand a welcome bag of two bottled waters and a bag of potato chips to the guy next to us, and he explained to his kid it's because he's Titanium. Yet we were offered nothing, and there's no bottled water in the room. (The tap water is pretty terrible.) We got offered no such thing. This place SUCKS. read more

And then the hangers fell apart. so annoying when gowns and suits keep falling to the floor. sink is in the main room. King size bed room was fine but 2 queen beds - don't do it. absolutely NO room to move around. SO claustrophobically tiny. Hallway lights were blinding. If you have friends on other floors you cannot get to them - elevator key allows you to visit ONLY your own floor. Lights in the room are tied to ONE switch--so one person cannot have single bedside lamp on without entire room being lit. No coffee in the room and the free coffee in the lobby Is lukewarm and ends promptly at the early hour of 10am. If you are arriving after 11pm you will find zero food options. read more

WTH is this place? No drawers, no closet, a camping sink, I'm pretty sure the walkway in the bedroom isn't up to fire code. It's a foot wide in places with the bed wider than the width of the wall. This is like a hostel room, not a hotel room. The games in the lobby are fun, but the room is unacceptable. read more
