    Espresso martini
    Sara C.

Really awesome vibes for a buffs game day but the drinks could use some work. I was shocked when I ordered an espresso martini at their (very large & nice) bar and saw them pour a pre-mixed drink into a plastic cup.?! Like wtf !! Bizarre

No closet? No problem, hang on the wall in front of you.

Come play? Let's talk about this overpriced efficiency unit... To start, the staff downstairs is friendly and that's about it. I will say it's clean and "nice" I'm not sure what nice means to most, but I mean it's in a good neighborhood and I feel sa. That's about all I can say about this place. The beds aren't comfortable, the comforter is a burlap sack made to look like a Mexican blanket. The rooms are "minimalist" meaning no closet at all, and I have to hang my suit on the wall by the TV. There is no storage so if you want to unpack you have to put your clothing in drawers under the bed like we are in college. The A/C says 65° but I would bet everything that it's closer to 73°. I have legitimately had better experiences at motel 6 than this 300$ night hotel. I'm not sure if this is just a boulder thing, but I would rather take my chances with air b&b or comfort inn. Staff is the absolute only reason this place didn't get 1 star. Staff are very nice and accommodating and have chill vibes.

    Cucumber drink

I had a lovely experience at the Moxy bar. Came here for drinks one afternoon with a friend and everything was great. We got a cucumber drink with foam on top that was beautiful and delicious. The bartender Owen, was soo friendly and charismatic. We loved chatting with him. I also got a turkey sandwich to go before my flight which was yummy.

You can almost fit 6 beers in it!

I paid $206 for a 2 queen room during off-peak season (March). Upon walking into the room, I discovered that they don't have refrigerators in the rooms. Even small refrigerators in hotel rooms are standard these days. Given the price they ask per night and the fact that they are an upscale hotel, I didn't even bother to check before booking. Other posters have also commented on the lack of a microwave, coffee maker and closets. I didn't see an ironing board either. After calling the front desk about the refrigerator, they offered to bring one up, but after waiting 30 minutes, I had to call back. About an hour after check-in, they brought up something that I would better describe as a small, powered cooler (see pictures). In terms of room size, this hotel could have been designed for far fewer rooms to allow for some extra space and provide amenities that most hotels have (at least in the U.S.). These rooms are cramped and remind me of what you experience in Paris or London etc... (the kinds of rooms where you trip over the bed in the dark walking through the door). I replied to an email requesting a survey and expressed my disappointment. The manager responded with this: "The Moxy brand offers rooms that are efficient and minimalist and with this do not have a refrigerator, closet in hopes that this offers the guest the opportunity to explore the hotel spaces and the local area. This being said, I can completely understand how it would be frustrating to expect a refrigerator and not have one." You don't offer these things in hopes that I explore the local area?? Explore the area for a better place to stay next time? As long as that exploration doesn't involve bringing back any leftover food from one of the restaurants in town, because it will spoil. I doubt they have more than 20 of those little fridges. At least he bothered to contact me and that was on par with the rest of the staff as they all seemed pretty good in terms of kindness, so kudos to them. Other PROS: the location and the vibe of the place. CONS: rooms are way too small with not much to offer, especially given what you pay for. I didn't valet park, but as other posters have noted, that's another $40/night! I figured I'd post this just to make future guests aware.

There is nobody working the bar. Nobody.

I will point out a few positives about this hotel before I point out the reasons while this utterly fails. The location is ideal, literally in the middle of the hill and Campus. Perfect for student families visiting. The concept and design is well thought out. The rooms are small but stylish. No closets... interesting. Contemporary designs, architecture and indoor/outdoor layout make it a destination for every one in town. Okay, the whole operation is mismanaged. Friday evening and the there is garbage on the floor to the main entrance. Two teenage employees are glued to their cell phones, they don't care at all that guests are lugging suitcases in. There's a mop and bucket sitting in the lobby. Checkin is at the bar?? The bar is packed and has 2 people working. Nobody is getting served. The tables are full of dirty dishes and empty glasses. To charge guests $900 a night is implying you are a 5 start hotel. You need to fire who is ever in charge of this place before it completely falls apart. The St. Julian charges similar but provides the appropriate level of service

Yes, it is brand new and all the public spaces are not finished. I did not stay here but my husband and I had a nice happy hour with drinks and food. For all that we did and saw, though overall yet an incomplete experience, it was great. They opened late, construction and city caused delays and though they did not make the goal of CU graduation , the did make Memorial Day weekend and the Bolder Boulder. Probably the busiest Boulder ever gets. We were greeted by a full shift of staff at the main entrance that leads into the bar/ lobby. Beautiful decor and friendly professional staff. They could tell we had not been there before and asked if we were checking in. We told them we had come to sample the bar offerings and take a look around as we had spent the last 2 years watching the construction. We were given the lmenuscfir the current small offerings and we immediately say some good selections in food and drink. They have made an effort to offer some Boulder's more famous local beers. I appreciated the wine list a picked a rosé. We were both happy. We chose a small plate, dip trio, but it was not very small, but quite filling. Committed to trying more than one plate we also ordered the Pork and Peppers Flat, a nice take on carnitas and sport peppers on a crust. Also ample and tasty. The staff was friendly and happy to talk with us it was not busy. When we were done eating they showed us around a bit. There will eventually be a few small restaurants on the attached plaza, but given that this hotel and bar are on Boulder's University Hill, it is speedy packed with tons of options, all within about 3 blocks. There has been a significant cleanup on the Hill and renovation of some older places in anticipation of this new hotel. And for those familiar with contentious projects in Boulder, this is just what we neighbors wanted to restore our local business district. We had fun tonight and I know we will be back here again this summer , joined with some friends and neighbors. Amgen I have the opportunity to see or use a room here , I will update. The pictures attached illustrate well what we saw.

    Anniversary surprise!

If you're considering staying here just know there's no in-room coffee/tea maker and very low water pressure in the shower.

Does not give an upscale vibe - not crazy over design, but that is more of a personal preference. Everything about it is just ok. There is a yellow Smeg mini frig in the room that sticks out and I just do not get it. The strip lighting above the curtain window was falling down. The ballroom design does not work and the food was inedible. Getting a drink at the Lobby bar is a feat of patience. All the seating including rooms is not comfortable - again bad design choices. They do have complimentary cookies made on site near check in which was nice and tasty. Staff warned to grab because they go fast and apparently not restocked.

Lo and behold, Tab Benoit (a terrific blues singer and guitarist) was performing Saturday night! Although it appeared sold out, we lucked into 6th row, just off center (on the aisle). At just under $70/ticket it was reasonable. Tab and his bandmates (drummer and bassist) put on a nonstop 90 minute show that really highlighted Tab's extraordinary guitar playing. He also crooned a few ballads in his signature raspy voice (though not enough in our opinion)! In terms of living/performing blues artists, Tab is among the elite. Checkout the 3 video snippets for a glimpse at his versatility. The quaint venue is amazing. At over 125 years old, t's officially listed as historic. And, despite being 50+ feet high, it is made almost entirely of red wood. That yields really warm acoustics that never harshly echo. A quick glance at the calendar and it appears there's something going on 5-6 days/week. Lots of free parking, though you might have to walk a bit, and likely uphill. They sell snacks and drinks at the venue (no bringing in your own). All purses do get checked. The concession prices are high ($6-8 for a single can of beer or a vodka-seltzer) but consistent/average for concert venues. Seats are reasonably comfortable (old movie-house-style, fold up/down, lightly padded) with a nifty cupholder on the back of the seat in front of you. Restrooms are off premises - yep, you gotta exit the auditorium and walk about 75 feet to a small structure that houses the men's/women's bathrooms. Your wrist band that you should have received upon entry, gets you back into the auditorium (don't exit without it)! Oh and maybe don't forget your ear protection - I brought some decent small ones from home and was glad I did, seeing how close we were. Upon exiting the venue it is a little dark along the various walkways to your car and your phone can light the path. Things are congested for about 15-20 minutes but it all moves slowly/surely because it's not massive like an arena or stadium. I can see why so many big names come here!

I played in wind ensembles and symphony orchestras as a youngster, but definitely fall in the category of amateur, at best. I do love a good night out at the performing arts, though. The orchestra this summer, led by Maestro Peter Oundjian, is exceptional. I can't remember a symphonic performance that was more intricately perfect in ensemble and intonation than the three I have heard this summer. That each individual performer could be put into a large group and perform as one in such an exceptional way is truly awe-inspiring. I'm going to hear the Dvorak tonight, and simply can't wait! For those who don't know, the Colorado Symphony is now fortuitous in being led by Maestro Oundjian, and under his leadership, I can only imagine that the sky is the limit! That said, there is something very special about driving into the Boulder country/mountains to this little auditorium in Chautauqua Park, with exceptional acoustics and an orchestra composed of some of the best musicians from around the country. What an absolute treat! While the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is a national treasure for us in Colorado, I promise you won't miss the traffic and parking fees of downtown Denver!

The rooms are very ordinary, not as they appear when you are booking. It's also in a great location--very close to the University of Colorado Boulder and walkable to a lot of shops and restaurants. The lobby is definitely the highlight--absolutely beautiful with intricate details, a vintage glass ceiling, and a grand, elegant feel that gives you a sense of the building's history. Our room was clean, and the bathroom was also well-maintained. The surrounding area felt safe, which we appreciated. That said, the room itself was a bit dark, which seems pretty typical for many American hotels. The biggest downside for us was the required valet parking. It meant we never really had easy access to our car unless we wanted to go through the hassle of requesting it every time. Because of that, we ended up just using Uber the whole stay. Personally, I would much rather just pay to park and have direct access to my own vehicle. To be fair, the valet staff were always very friendly and welcoming whenever we came and went. We also ran into some minor inconveniences--there didn't seem to be enough robes, towels, or washcloths available during our stay. Overall, it was fine for a short visit. The lobby is stunning and the location is excellent, but the valet situation alone would make me choose somewhere else next time.
