Good but not the best, and slightly disappointed for the price of treatments. I came visiting from out of town so my bestie and I both booked spa treatments here. We drove thirty minutes to boulder and she had the alpine massage which she raved about and loved but I had the mountain lavender massage and it was average at best. We had called the day prior to reserve the crystal mat for me and when I arrived they didn't have it. The lady doing my massage went out from the room, went to talk to some people and then came back and told me it was "in use". She then said she'd add on hot stones at no charge. They also cut my massage short as a result of it and yes we were about 4-5 minutes late but they were a bit disorganized. I paid for a 50 minute and really only got about a 30-35 minute and it wasn't all my fault. My therapist was alright but flustered and didn't ask me about pressure etc. It felt very rushed and I wasn't relaxed so for the price I paid I was honestly was pretty unhappy about it. Facilities were nice though- there is a sauna and steam room and you do get to use the hotel jacuzzi and pool. Again, to that add however the facilities were being taken up by a large bridal shower group and they were using all of the two personal change rooms and get ready space. It was very inconvenient to say the least and for someone paying, it felt like I was overlooked and maybe even a little in the way. I wouldn't be back based on the experience, for such a high end price tag I really felt service and experience would have been better. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend either. read more

I observed three women seated at a table where food and drinks are placed and served who put their bare, dirty feet on the table for two to three hours. I reported it to a bartender and my friend reported it to a server. We were eating $20+ salads and $20 cocktails with that view (and smell) of black bottomed soles. An hour later, the women removed their feet. The manager came over and told us that if we wanted more formality we could dine at Jill's Bistro as "it was casual" and "children come in Pajamas." In other words, "if you don't like it leave." What a gem. I work in 5 star hotel hospitality and have been to HUNDREDS of 5-7 star hotels around the globe and never observed such a thing even in "non-first world countries" this would be a fine in Switzerland. Then we observed that THE TABLE WAS NEVER CLEANED, the server then served food and drink on the SAME UNCLEANED TABLE to the next unsuspecting guests. This is a health and safety violation that the GM is apparenty not aware of (I'm being generous, he is ignorant and proud the worst combination and he doesn't belong in hospitality, at all, I think he was fired from Brasserie 1010.) I have several photographs of all of this. What struck me the most is this GMs attitude. I tried to tell him years ago that waiting over 45 minutes for service or to pay a bill does not designate 4 star or 4 diamond status, there are actual standards. I am owed a thank you for reporting it, an apology for the GMs attitude to actually take the time to come over just to tell us we were in the wrong and to offer we pay him more money to dine at his other "less casual" establishments within the hotel. Let's see if the HEALTH DEPARTMENT and DIAMOND status designaters agree:) Cheers! While I am here I have been to the lobby at least a hundred times, the spa has awful service as well, constant walking in tight spaces with laundry, never a moment of privacy, never refilling snacks or beverages, rushed out an. hour before closing, was told I can't have a new robe because they'd have to wash it again, never OFFERED water or a chocolate (in fact they used to hoard them) all feedback goes to deaf and defensive ears, and yes 45 min wait for both service and paying your bill. One time I left but felt guilty so I went to Jills TO WAIT AGAIN to pay and -zero apology. read more

I paid $700 for a deep tissue massage and it was NOT WORTH IT. We discussed problem areas prior and he didn't even touch any of the knots I desperately needed help with. I don't get massages like ever and I was desperate for relief. I didn't get any. Go somewhere much cheaper if you want an actual deep tissue massage cause I feel cheated out of not only the relief I needed but $500 too. If I wanted to soft massage I woulda paid for the cheaper one. Very disappointed and still in pain. My facial was awesome though read more

Stayed at the St Julien a couple of weeks ago while visiting my daughter for her sorority's Mom's weekend. We absolutely LOVED our stay. Totally luxury. Staff was so friendly + helpful. Great food at Jills + if you like an espresso martini you must try theirs! Love the live music during the happy hour. Just a great scene. Also- silly me forgot to check the armoire before packing up my things and left a pair of shoes and 4 items of clothing. When I called about it, Donovan in housekeeping was SO helpful. Sent a pic of the things I left behind and shipped them back immediately (free of charge!). So grateful! The service is next level! Will definitely book St Julien again for my next visit to Boulder! read more

Overall, I left feeling mediocre about the St Julien Spa. Honestly, for the price paid for a single massage, I really had very high expectations. The massage itself was really nice and relaxing. As far as the ammentities go for the spa, there's nothing to write home about. The space is very small, overcrowded and lacked the luxury feeling I'd expect from the St Julien. They kept running out of towels, cups and even seats in the relaxtion room. The relaxation room was less than relaxing. Do people not understand that's a room to "relax"? The amount of people in there speaking so loudly was quite disruptive. There was not even enough space for everyone to sit. Then it was pure chaos when the employees were searching for their people for services. No rhyme or reason for it. I didn't even attempt the pool - so crowded with hotel guests and loud kids. I also avoided the steam room and sauna because again, SO many people. After my massage, I took a shower and left. I won't return back because I simply cannot justify the cost for this massage given the experience I had. read more

The staff were professional and friendly. The ambiance is lacking in the lobby because it was rented out for a birthday party last night. Parties are meant for party rooms not acoustically challenging lobby space. This made us realize the Broadmoor for a getaway was more relaxing. read more

We recently stayed for our first overnight since our 2nd baby was born. I bought my husband and I an 80 min massage for Valentine's Day and so we decided to make it a whole day/night at the spa. We both booked massages. Mine was at 9a and his was at 12p. My massage therapist was not good at all - it felt like a neurotic massage - she was bouncing all over the place and didn't seem to understand focusing on problem areas. I was ready to tell the front desk upon checkout but they didn't ask...usually the first question is "how was everything?". Luckily my husband's massage therapist was switched at the last minute and he had someone different who he very much enjoyed. At this point I was annoyed because we were spending a fortune so I sent an email to spa@stjulien.com on 4/22 politely explaining my negative experience. It's now 4/26 and I haven't gotten so much as an acknowledgment of email. That really rubs me the wrong way. And as someone local, I'd really like to come back but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We will see. The actual hotel experience was excellent. read more

I went to the spa for the first time and had a wonderful massage therapist, Flore, the best I've ever had! Flore is ten star!!

This is a beautiful hotel with an excellent location, easy parking, and superb customer service. We've stayed here a few times this year will keep coming back. As noted, the location couldn't be better - close enough to the flatirons to offer a superior view while also being only a block from the Pearl Street mall and all that if offers. Also, Lolita's is practically right around the corner, so if you need a late night snack, you can get one. There are several businesses contained within this place - Jill's (a restaurant), T-Zero (a bar), and the spa - all are excellent. We've attended each of these components both independent from hotel stays and as a component of one and rarely have been disappointed. I say rarely because yes, mistakes have occasionally been made. However, St. Julien and it's associated businesses know how to make things right and this is key. If they make an error and you are respectful and courteous, they will own it. In my opinion, this is a hallmark of a quality establishment. What else does this place offer? The gym is nice for a hotel gym - bigger than normal and with a reasonable free weight selection to compliment the cardio machines. The pool and hot tub are beautiful, well-maintained, and relaxing. You can order food to be delivered poolside and there is also an attached outdoor seating area. Do take note that if you go outside to this area via the doors from the pool, you must bring your key with you as you will get locked out otherwise. Also, as of the time of this review, the wall clock in the pool area seems to have issues. I'm not sure if I'd trust it. The rooms are comfortable and well-furnished. Streaming services are offered which is wonderful. I have had some issues with volume control being problematic when watching streamers, so keep that in mind. A couple of other quirks are that the in-room coffee machines can be a little tricky to operate - I sometimes have to gently jiggle the water tank to get it to flow - so contact the front desk if you have issues. Also, note that the in room fridges are mini bars, so they are full. i.e. there will be no room for your leftovers. There is a very affordable parking garage below the hotel and an elevator that connects right to it. Couldn't be easier. Valet parking is available if you choose. So what about the associated businesses? T-Zero is staffed by skilled bartenders and the liquor selection is quite good. The Pearl is my favorite in-house specialty drink. Jill's is a quality restaurant. If you order room service, this is where it will come from. However, the restaurant itself is lovely, so I recommend a trip down. The hotel even has a small garden that produces seasonally appropriate fresh ingredients for Jill's which really is a step above. We like this place enough that we brought my family there to eat when they visited and they had a great time. The spa is superb, both in quality of services and amenities. The estheticians are skilled and the atmosphere is entirely pleasant. If you book an appointment, you get access to the spa for the entirety of that day. That means locker rooms, changing rooms, separate rest rooms, steam room, sauna, showers, and the lounge (complete with light snacks, tea, and seasonal fruit infused waters). You also get access to the pool, hot tub, and gym. It's fire, honestly. Just be sure to book in advance as it's a popular place and bookings fill up. You will spend more to come here, but the quality is evident and it's worth it, in my opinion. Staying here is a treat for us on special occasions. We live nearby enough that it's kind of the ultimate stay cation. We do treat the spa as a day spa and visit there more often (you can become a spa member which gives you a discount on services - we did that). Honestly, this place is just worth it. Staying at the St. Julien was a dream after getting married. We got the romance package and I had special requests for the room due to allergies that were all met. Turndown service was lovely with a historical background card about the hotel and locally-made chocolate. Staff were fantastic, pleasant, and helpful with our requests. I stayed at St Julien for the first time in the spring of 2023 for a retreat, then came back in July for a staycation to check out the spa and just relax. To say I am obsessed with the hotel would be an understatement. Having stayed at hotels all over Colorado, this had been on my list for quite some time and I enjoyed it just as much as I had imagined I would. The service here is unbeatable. From the moment you are greeted by valet, to the moment you check out. It is all hands on deck here and the opulence of the customer service shines through at every touchpoint in this hotel. They truly make you feel right at home. Never did I feel like a bother, which I loved. The rooms are beautiful and if you are lucky you will get a lovely view of the Flatirons. Having a balcony or a Juliet balcony that opens up to the backyard Terrace is my favorite. There is live music Wednesday - Saturday and you can hear it in your room if you open your days. Making for the best summer evening even from your bed. They have room service and better yet, you can even order drinks directly to the pool/hot tub as you relax. Their spa is unbeatable and has won many awards throughout the years. They also offer a spa membership for locals. Jil''s is located inside the hotel and is the best when it comes to a romantic dinner or brunch outside in the sunshine. You must try their burrata, Korean wings and yakasobi noodles. They have many vegan options on the menu and offer a vegan lunch buffet, once every first Friday of the month. It is unbeatable and has never disappointed. This hotel is pure elegance and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful, inviting and relaxing place to stay. It is truly the gem of Boulder. read more

The St Julien is definitely one of my favorite hotels to stay at for a weekend getaway, but this time I received a gift card for the spa services here and decided to give them a try for the first time. The overall hotel is very elegant, but we were a little surprised with the quality of the spa in comparison. It is a very small space, handful of lockers available to place your belongings in and change into your robes. My robe unfortunately had a hole in it and seemed very worn, not what we expected for quality. The steam room and sauna were excellent, however the sauna was also on the smaller side. We were fortunate to attend on a less busy day otherwise it could be difficult to find space to relax. The waiting room (not pictured) for the services was lackluster, with a self serve cart for tea or water. You cannot order any other food or drinks to enjoy within the spa, you must exit the spa and have that order in the Hotel Lobby. Having access to the spa also allows access to the pool and jacuzzi. which we were disappointed with as it is accessed by hotel guests as well and was full of children... which is fine on a regular basis but not cohesive with a relaxing spa experience. Besides some of these items, the actual spa representatives were attentive and very professional. Our services were excellent, and we left the spa feeling refreshed. read more

Hotel: 4 to 5 stars. Event: 3 stars maybe. The hotel is very nice. Friendly staff. Clean updated rooms! Hot water in the room comes out quick and hot! I enjoyed that part of the visit immensely. Wished they had more coffee in the room. The package for News Years Eve was interesting and somewhat disturbing and disappointing for the money spent. Requirement was vaccination card and masks. As the night wore in people stopped wearing masks. I watched an employee who was telling people to wear masks, later went to the bar had shots of some sort of alcohol (multiple times) and stopped telling people to wear their masks. There was a jazz band and someone, I do not know of it was a groupie or a part of the band, went around to everyone with a tip jar! What is that all about. At that point we left and went to our room. The band was very good. But what a disappointment. The food had flavor. Not amazing but had it. Mostly cold or somewhat warm. Great idea. The hotel did hear some of what we said and did not charge us champagne package. read more

This review is for the spa only. It's always a treat to get a massage at the St Julien, and it better be as it's quite pricey. The staff is professional and the space relaxing. About the massage, my therapist was perfect, applying the right amount of pressure and checking a few times to make sure it worked for me. I also love that the face cradle can be adjusted and the bed bends at the knee, which makes it very comfortable. I don't think I've seen that anywhere else. They are busy, so if you want a specific day and time, it's best to make a reservation a couple weeks in advance. Make sure you come a little early to take advantage of the pool area! read more

During our stay, we were treated to a weekend of relaxation & rejuvenation that left us with unforgettable memories. The St. Julien is a Forbes four-star & AAA four-diamond hotel. Check-in at the St. Julien Hotel was a seamless and welcoming experience - we felt immediately taken care of and attended to. As soon as we drove up to the hotel, we were greeted by the friendly and efficient valet staff. Within moments of our arrival, the valet had whisked our car away and guided us into the hotel's inviting lobby. The hotel was sophisticated and warm in design. The lobby had a gorgeous, translucent fireplace that gave us a peek into the outdoor gardens. The landscaping included lovely trees, plants, flowers, a large outdoor terrace & gazebo all complete with mountain views. The front desk staff greeted us with beaming smiles; they were attentive and provided a smooth and hassle free check-in. While our room keys were being prepared, the front desk gave us water bottles; this was a thoughtful gesture that was very much appreciated (we were thirsty after our drive). Every interaction during check-in left us feeling valued and cared for as hotel guests. We stayed in a King Mountain View room on the fourth floor of the hotel. The room was decorated in warm tones - chocolate browns, rich bronze, grained wood, & stone. We had an incredible view of Boulder's iconic Flatiron Mountain range; and let me tell you something, waking up to that view was something special. The St. Julien really understands the art of hospitality as evident from the thoughtful welcome treats in our room. A delightful assortment of cheeses, fruits, and sweets awaited us & set the tone for a weekend of indulgence. To our delight, a bottle of champagne was also provided & this really added a touch of sparkle to our stay. The King Mountain View room boasted a four post California King Bed with a custom plush euro top mattress with Italian linens. The bed was so comfortable and ensured a restful night's sleep that left us feeling recharged each morning. There was a fully stocked mini-bar with a Nespresso in room brewing system and an assortment of teas. The bathroom was oversized with slate stonework, an extra deep soaking tub, and separate stand-up shower. There were plush St. Julien Hotel bathrobes & slippers in the bathroom that we immediately put on. We visited the St. Julien's spa for massages. Each of us had a 50 minute St. Julien Classic Massage that incorporated medium pressure with long, smooth strokes and kneading to stimulate circulation. The massage table was heated and so comfortable. My massage therapist, Berkleigh had excellent hands that eased my sore muscles and reduced tension. Following our massages, we took full advantage of the beautiful lap pool & hot tub. The lap-pool was 50-feet and provided ample room for exercise and leisurely swimming. The whirlpool hot tub was deliciously hot with an infinity waterfall plunging into one side. For dinner we dined at the hotel's restaurant, Jill's Restaurant & Bistro. Would rate this hotel 3-4. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was beautiful. View was meh.... but no mountain view rooms were available. Location was perfect to be able to walk to mostly everything. We did uber to our hike trail heads. We stayed for a long weekend for our anniversary. They left us chocolates to celebrate. Our TV was broken, in our room. It was fixed after a few days. And there were many mornings we could hear drilling/construction in our room. We really wanted to enjoy the bar/lobby area in the evenings but it was always extremely crowded. We did enjoy using the hot tub in the evenings! the pool/hot tub area was very nice! read more

Stayed here for a work trip and had the most lovely experience. My room had a beautiful view of the mountains. The soaking tub with the bath salts in the room was such a pleasant surprise. The water pressure in the shower was perfect. The towels are large and the washcloths are thick. The food we had catered in the conference center was all delicious, as was the dinner we ate in the restaurant (Jill's). We loved being able to sit outside in their patio area and order food and drinks from the restaurant. The location of this hotel is just steps away from great shopping and restaurants on Pearl Street. We even walked out the back of the hotel just across the street to a walking path that led us to a nice park along the Boulder Creek for a picnic lunch. We could not have asked for a better meeting venue. I will definitely put this hotel at the top of my list for my next trip to Boulder. read more

I had an excellent Espresso Mud Scrub this week and my therapist was lovely. The changing room is always clean and comfortable and the robes very plush. My reason for 2 stars is the spa lounge. For some incomprehensible reason they have installed single cubed seats with high sides that are very strange and not welcoming or relaxing at all. If you come to be with friends or a partner there is no way to chat or even see each other. I had nowhere to set my drink down and it is the most unwelcoming lounge I have ever been in. I hope they will soon return it to the lovely seating arrangement they had before. I found no where on the St. Julien Spa website to leave comments privately, so here we are. I have been a patron of the spa since they opened and have, in the past, enjoyed the lounge before and after my treatments. Please, please get rid of the cubes and make the lounge a welcoming and cosy retreat again. read more

The staff are quite good (5 stars) but the rooms are deteriorating. The A/C works in maybe half the rooms and suites. Which is a bummer in the middle of summer with windows facing the sun. You also get $0.02 vanity kits made in China. Exercise room has a single bench for weightlifting. Two people can't work out at same time. Best hotel in Boulder still. read more

We scored 4 facials in a 2 hour block on a Friday morning by calling ahead, and it was so worth the splurge... We used the workout room a bit before our appointments and if we'd had more time, we would have absolutely taken advantage of the pool and additional amenities. The facial experience itself was fabulous. My sister and I both had Shea as our esthetician and were super pleased. She was lovely and seemed to know exactly what we needed as far as products, exfoliation, and relaxation... Lucky for us, my brother picked up the tab as this place is not cheap, but if you are looking for a wonderful spa experience, plan ahead and give yourself some time to enjoy your experience at the St Julien! read more

I've been going to the St. Julien Spa for over a decade, treating myself a few times a year. The Pros: The facility is lovely with a great lounge area, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and they can deliver food to you while you have a spa day. The Colorado Bliss massage is always great and the deep-tissue massages are usually excellent. The Bad: I asked for a hydrating facial with extractions and it was recommended that I do an oxygen facial. However, the oxygen facial was barely a facial at all and they didn't do anything to help treat some of my skin concerns. I advised prior to starting what I was looking for and the clinician suggested that what was booked didn't have that and she wouldn't alter the service. I advised the front desk that I was disappointed about paying over $200 for a service that was beyond basic and she was like- oh- that's sad. She made absolutely no effort at offering me a different service or giving me a discount. She then rushed the checkout process to get me out of the spa so that no one knew I was upset and tried to take the receipt back before I was done signing it. There are much better facial clinics like Highline Aesthetics & Alchemy Face Bar so I'll never book a facial again with St. Julien and after being dismissed the way I was, I'm not confident that I'll return for a massage. I'd recommend getting a clear overview of what the service actually is instead of trusting their recommendation. I'm so disappointed that the St. Julien service is going downhill and that they apparently have no appreciation for long-time guests. read more
