Pretty damn tasty. Fresh, flavorful, cheap, and filling.
I've been here a few times. I wouldn't say it's "the best" banh mi I've had, nor is it your typical "traditional" bahm mi. But it certainly hits the spot.
Atmosphere: Small interior, about 4 or 5 tables. It's really much more of a takeaway place but if you're like me and can't wait til you get home then there is plenty of seating available. They've recently redecorated with some new paintings on the wall, but personally I think they should deal with all the crumbs on the empty tables and strewn chairs first before adding decor. Despite the messy tables, it still seemed clean and hygienic. The two guys working there were very friendly and spoke English.
Food: They no longer only serve sandwiches! They've added a whole bunch of other items like soups, salads, noodles, and rice. They even have a phorrito (pho ingredients all wrapped up burrito style). They strongly advertise their combo menu option which is any sandwich plus fries for 129kc. I love their original bahn mi (99kc) and their tohm kha soup (50kc). The bahn mi was delicious. Perfect temperature and marriage of flavors. Bread was nice and toasty. Really big and filling. Served in a little basket that while looked nice, was a bit difficult since the food paper didn't fit and kept popping out. The tohm kha soup was pretty good. Actually it's the best I've had in Prague. Other Thai places I've tried seem to focus more on the coconut flavor and tend to be a bit plain tasting. This one got the broth just right! Great balance of lemongrass, coconut, and spice. The ingredients though could be improved, in my opinion. It was very tasty. However the finely shredded chicken was a strange texture for me in the soup, I prefer slices. Also the mushrooms were too thin so you couldn't really get a delightful chewy bite. But the overall flavor was excellent- I am just extremely picky about my tohm kha.
So if you're craving Vietnamese flavors- come to this little joint right off of Namesti Miru! Don't expect traditional bahn mis though, be open minded and enjoy the creative twists.
