This is the local spot for your McNeese college games. It has amazing Cajun food and a great local crowd. We just so happened to be there for the college championship game. Me and the family order a lot of different items on their menu. Everything came out fresh and delicious. If you want an off the beaten path restaurant that you can taste the authenticity this is it. To begin with the place is very busy. Especially when the tour buses stop to eat. But at the same time, the line goes fairly quick because of the two or three cashiers that they have working. The food is usually good, but I had the misfortune of ordering the crawfish étouffée. I didn't think that the size of the little Crawfish was legal. They were so small that you could barely see them in your rice. I mentioned it to the server and she brought me about a tablespoon of the little bitty Crawfish. Didn't help much. No doubt when I go back. I will not order that. They do have a lot of good food on the menu. read more

Alright now. I see you, Mr. bills, I see you. I grew up in Lake Charles, so you would've thought I had eaten here before, Maybe once, maybe twice, but I cannot recall. What I do know is that I will be visiting much more often. We arrived at 11:15 on a Saturday, and there was already a big baseball team there. Crawfish and shrimp had to boil, so we weren't able to be served until noon. But I was able to get a pistolette as an appetizer, which was amazing, and we went ahead and got the burger ahead of the rest. The burger was perfect!! Overall The food was incredible and I'm picky. The waitress was extremely friendly, and on point even though she was asked, swamped. Crawfish were at very decent size! The food was extremely reasonable. I like that the food tasted fresh. Definitely some love and care behind this little restaurant. I look forward to playing video poker next time. Nice little bar area also. This place is popping so make sure you plan advance. read more

Our most recent visit to Mr. Bill's was our first sample of crawfish for the season. The place was packed on a Friday evening but there was a very short wait to order at the counter. We ordered 10 pounds for $5.99/lb and a couple of corn and potatoes from the friendly staff and we went to get our drinks. The crawfish were ready by the time we got our drinks. The crawfish were small to medium size and were perfectly boiled, easy to peel, and seasoned perfectly. While we ate our piles of mud bugs, we saw some familiar friendly faces that were also enjoying the seafood here. With large portions of delicious food, the friendly staff, and a casual atmosphere where you can kick back, drink a beer, and chat with friends, Mr. Bill's Seafood Express is a great destination for a family meal. read more

The food is delicious, but they gave me the WRONG ORDER. I ordered half a dozen oysters on Waitr, and I got seven shrimp. If they were out of oysters, they should have called me. I'm not a huge shrimp fan, so I'm very disappointed that I didn't get what I ordered. read more

Bummer, I really wanted to like this place. My husband and I had dinner for $30. His fried oysters were the best part of the meal, though they were a bit cold inside. His meal came with a baked potato that was old, cold on the inside and burned on the side that rested on the grill. The salad was more of a garnish. The roll was good. My boiled shrimp were decent except that they were not deveined and the mud vein was soft and difficult to remove. The boiled potato was delivered about 15 minutes after the rest of our food. PmMy brother n law recommended this place We ordered the seafood platter in which the baked potato was Jason s Deli size with all the fixings , a crab cake a stuffed shrimp, a small lettuce tomato salad , I asked for grilled shrimp but they gave me fried , and they also served fried oysters, plus a stuffed crab and one catfish fillet oh yeah plus a biscuit. WHEW! A lot of food for $19.99 right?! The food was mediocre , the stuffed items were spicy and the fish was a fillet they said was cut in half but it actually seemed to have been cut into 4 little strips and my husbNd and I were each given a strip which probably left two.strips left over to serve to two more customers. Our normal stop when in Lake Charles is the famous Steamboat Bill's. However today we decided to find a local hole in the wall and boy did we stumble across a WINNER. The prices were fair considering the amount of food. The shrimp stuffed potato was amazing. I had the Shrimp etoufee which tasted like MaMa made it herself. I came to eat some crawfish but employee was very nice in explaining to an out of towner that due to the hot season the last crawfish were sold in May. He instead recommended some boiled shrimp and soft shell crab (which was a special order as they usually use only for po-boys etc, not typically sold alone). The both were delicious. Decided to promote the local talent here in a LC dawgggg haha and today was mr bills seafood emporium. I got my food (very quick) talked to a very nice sweet short guy with glasses and I sat down to enjoy today's meal. While eating I saw the shirts saying if the cook ain't fat I aint eating and I LOLED OUT LOUD SO HARD HAHAHA. As a morbidly obese person everyone looks skinny to me so that saying completely changed my entire life... I cried that day witnessing the pure genius on that shirt and made it my life's motto fate knocked on my door that day and my life was divinely intervened ... after 328 pounds lost I've finally been able to find people fatter than me and start eating again and guess what my first meal was since??? Awesome place! The food is some of the best seafood I've ever eaten. I get the grilled catfish alot because it's almost like a blackened flavor & super tasty. Looking at the place from the outside, you wouldn't really know it was a restaurant. It's very plain & tan with bars on the windows but that must be to keep all the flavor inside. My friends always rave about the shrimp poboy. Oh, their Poboy's are huge but they do offer a small size. Check it out when you don't feel like dressing fancy to get a good meal. I called in an order to pick up at around 5PM. While picking up my food at the drive through my vehicle died. Two employes helped me push my truck into a parking spot. I'm crippled, I have a handicapped hang tag on my rearview mirror, and had to leave my vehicle in the parking lot of Mr. Bill's. The next day I go to get my truck and Mr. Bill's had it towed costing me 188.45. Neither of the employes that pushed my truck into their parking lot, from the drive thru lane, informed me my truck would be towed if it was still there in the morning. There are no signs at Mr. Bill's stating your vehicle will be towed. If I had known it would be towed I would have had a family member or a neighbor help me get my vehicle home. I live a few blocks away from Mr. Bills. In my opinion this is a very poor way to treat a customer much less a crippled customer. I will NEVER do business with them again and I suggest anyone thinking of doing business with them to take this into consideration! Being I'm living on a fixed income, 188.45 plus what the meal cost me is too much to pay for some shrimp. Plus it's just an average tasting meal. read more

I ordered the seafood platter...way too much food for me! As a first-timer to LA, I'm very impressed with the state, and particularly this restaurant! I was looking for seafood and got what I wanted here. Note: apparently they run out of oysters often and all food is fried...at least from what I could tell. I would come back. OMG, it's so good. It's a hole in the wall, it's not the best looking place, but the staff is friendly and helpful. We didn't get the 2 lb burger. We did get the Shrimp, fish, oysters and a crab cake. The Shrimp was fresh, not frozen, fried golden but not hard. The fish was cooked lite, flaky and moist. The oysters were plump and tasty. The crab cake actually tasted like crab. These folks know how to cook! I wouldn't change a thing. read more
