if you're already on yelp and not here to write a review, consider yourself lucky! do not come here expecting the Mr. Chows Kanye west ordered while using his one call at jail back in 2008. Sadly this place has diminished since then. I am all for quality food and can easily justify paying high for good food. so please understand when i say $875 for 5 people is not ok for this restaurant to charge. Especially when i can order authentic Chinese for $75 going all out. im not even here to compare to other places. we ordered the menu pre fix of $98 per person. The food on its own is offensive, the service is uncomfortable. something about an empty restaurant is daunting but we reasoned it with being a week night. The second we got seated, 4 staff members stood in front of us. The. whole. time. At that point they should've gotten themselves chairs and joined our conversation. Food: 4.5/5 I am obsessed with the food at Mr.Chow. Their food is extremely authentic and delicious. My favorites are the crispy beef, sweet and sour pork, dumplings, and chicken satay. The chicken satay is made with the best sauce and cooked perfectly. The dumplings have the most tasty and soft wontons around the filling. The crispy beef and sweet and sour pork and elevated and more fresh versions of your favorite take out classics. My only complaint is the extremely small portions and high prices but in my opinion it's totally worth it! Service: 5/5 Mr. Chow is AMAZING service. These servers literally cater to your every need and can answer any question. So I'm late to the party as this was my 1st time at Mr. Chow. I read some of the reviews after my visit and have to agree, but don't think this restaurant deserves less than 4 stars. Going in, I knew the place was going to be Chinese food done over the top, however I didn't expect the service to be 5 stars over the top! The greetings with eye contact, pulling out the chair and placing the cloth over my lap made the experience even more personalized. I will say while eating it was a bit much, as I kinda wanted to be left alone between bites. Ordering was a bit confusing. I guess I fell for the trick where they have a selected menu already, whereas I was planning to order what I wanted a La carte. I did get a little bit of everything. I ordered the shrimp with walnuts which was delicious, lettuce wraps, bok choy, vegetable fried rice, soft shell crab ,duck and Mr. Chow noodles. For beverages I had a glass of champagne and a mojito. My friend ordered those basic lettuce wraps as I don't know why he ordered that as I can make those at home! The duck was not my favorite and tasted a bit over cooked. I wish I would have gotten the fiery beef instead. The Mr chow noodles were delicious and I ordered them after seeing how they are made on YouTube. I did enjoy the integrity of the noodles and the nice bite. The crab was mixed with egg white and was meh. Seemed like filler. I'd prefer if they found another way to prepare and present this menu item but I guess they do that so you may add to the rice perhaps?!! All items were plated elegantly and quite tasty however once the bill came I did walk away hungry still and with a $204 tab after splitting it with my friend . This place is quite pricey and I think is more so a service based experience. I have had much better Chinese for around $50. I hate to say that but I'm being honest. The "it" factor is the service and each item being nicely plated on silver serving trays. Will I be back, yes! As our party walked down the long runwayed aisle of Miami's Mr Chow Restaurant, the flashy white grins of at least twelve servers and staff greeted us with warm "good evenings" and "welcomes." Once seated and smiling, I made the mistake of saying out loud, "I don't even care if the food tastes good." I was kidding. Of course I was there for what I thought would be one of the best meals of my life. But in retrospect, my reaction to the pomp and circumstance of our arrival is exactly what I believe is the reason the famed eatery remains open. Let this be your warning. Do not chow at Chow. I could elaborate. The noodles? Lifeless. Dumplings? Bland. Chicken? Rubbery. Filet? Inedible. Rice? Rice. The portion size? Scant. The pricetag? I'm embarrassed to say. So why, can someone please explain, are people willing to dish out their hard earned dough for sub-par menu items? Do we believe that the ability to pay the absurd price gives us special brag status in our instagrammed world? Perhaps our egos and desire to appear to have taste prevents us from speaking up when we've been served tiny portions with absolutely no taste. I dined here on Mother's Day. Our reservation was for 6PM and we were a party of 3. We valeted because South Beach parking...LOL. We checked in and were immediately seated at our table. The dining room was adorned with beautiful arrangements of all white orchids and hydrangeas and the floral scent filled the room. Our server and his assistant were extremely attentive, almost to a fault. The dining room was fairly empty when we first arrived therefore the staff wasn't busy. As the dining room filled up they were tending to other tables yet still available to us when needed. There was a Mother's Day special which we ordered from. The food was delicious! My favorite dishes were the lobster vermicelli and the duck. Pricey but worth the occasion! Babe made another reservation to dine with his friends in a couple of weeks. read more

The restaurant seems to be in the middle of an identity crisis. The menu aims to be a high class fine Chinese dining experience, but that atmosphere is nothing but generic. As an example, the tableware doesn't include chopsticks. When you ask for chopsticks, they walk out with run of the mill to-go chopsticks on a silver platter. I would expect more from a restaurant that charges as much as it does. The food is decent Chinese food, but definitely not authentic as claimed nor worth the exorbitant about it costs. If you're looking for a high class Chinese/Asian-fusion experience, I would recommend the one in the Fontainebleau over this one. Perhaps a little more expensive but more worth it. The *one* good thing I will say about Mr. Chow's is that the service was good. And thus it has earned 2 stars. read more

Back to Mr Chow after some time. The place looks the same but still keeps that touch of elegance; far from the most Miami modern style. Service was excellent, a little over the top . There are a lot of people working there but definitely Need a little of coordination. Five servers at the same time welcoming at the table and saying good evening was weird. We asked for the cocktail menu and still they bring a cart offering champagne. We order already dessert from the menu and still they bring us the dessert cart. We paid the bill and still were asking if we wanted coffee. But overall the service was excellent. But more importantly the food was totally average, good but forgettable. The service and the food was good but it was our anniversary and they sat us next to a table that had a dog that was obviously peeing on the carpet next to us so we had to eat our dinner with our toddler sleeping urine the whole time! Mind you we spent about $400 for dinner and when the maneger came he didn't even start with a sorry he just said we can not do anything we have to accept dogs which we understand but he could of at least offered us something for the inconvenience or at least a honest apology which was so odd for a high end restaurant! The restaurant is visually spectacular and the staff caring and professional, if a bit overbearing. The food is your neighborhood Chinese restaurant food served with a bit more flare. The prices are offensive! Look at the menu before you order and think twice as we didn't. We couldn't imagine what we'd get when we ordered as we figured at those prices it would have to be special. It wasn't special and we'd have been smarter to call in an order to our neighborhood Chinese restaurant which would have been waiting for us when we got home. **AVOID** I don't even know where to start here..but I'll start with don't come here. It was my mistake of not first yelping this establishment, so I'm going to take the very expensive loss. There is a prefix menu that they push you to choose which is about 112-128pp.. The noodles was the first to come out and it had no flavor..0/10. Next up the chicken satay...not bad 7/10. The fiery beef and the sweet and sour chicken were both average as well. Portions were overall small and it was just a very mediocre meal. When the bill came I see why they push you to do the prefix because they charged us EACH for everything we got..example chicken satay is $16 on the menu..thats only the price for ONE lmao.... I've been to some of the best dining establishments in top cities so price is never the issue. My issue is that the experience here overall was tacky as the menu doesn't honestly reflect the end charges. If I could give this place zero stars I could. I've been to Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, Las Vegas and Miami. All three restaurant experiences have been extremely consistent with the food quality being identical. During our visit we ordered the red dragon dumplings (a favorite), the salt and pepper shrimp, Fiery Beef and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Everything was served hot and was amazing. But a great restaurant also has great service. Jose Torres, the Manager / Maitre D' was amazing. He stopped by our table several times to ensure everything was in order. He even sent some deserts to our table as we are frequent diners at Mr. Chow. Mr. Chow is an outstanding experience with both food and service highly rated. This IS a fine dining restaurant, and you should expect to pay for that level or service and cuisine. Mr. Chow holds a lot of memories for me so my love for this restaurant runs deep. Mr. Chow in NYC is where my husband asked me to marry him over 13 years ago. So we've been enjoying this restaurant together in New York and Miami for many, many years. Five Stars? Yes. Still, there are a couple things to take note of that some may find negative... - The cost -- Mr. Chow is not a restaurant to go to if you're on a budget. It's a high end restaurant where you should expect to spend over $250 plus a 20% tip that will not be added automatically. Our bill is usually $300 to $400 for two people. - The mild flavors -- Try not to compare these flavors to the typical Asian flavors we are served in America. These flavors are understated and mild, which is one of the things I love. However some may prefer or be used to bolder, in-your-face flavors. Why I love it... It's fancy and I love a fancy, adult night out -- However, you can get dressed up or wear more casual attire (not too casual, ok?). Still, keep it fly because it is Mr. Chow. Good for kids? Maybe, if your kids are older and well-behaved and enjoy fine dining. I personally would not choose this place for a family night out. My kids would take away from the chill, grown up experience. You feel like a celebrity, taken care of at the highest level -- Customer service is so important and this establishment treats its patrons well. Everyone greets you, and in the 20+ years I've been a customer, I've never had bad service or felt like they thought I shouldn't be dining there. Good service is part of their DNA so if you don't get good service, politely bring that to the manager's attention because that is not the norm. The food is consistent, always -- We always order Chicken Satay with the creamy peanut sauce, the Squab (or chicken) Lettuce Wraps with the perfect plum sauce, and Ma Mignon, the melt-in-your moth filet. We'll add a few other items like the Beijing Chicken with walnuts - perfect flavor, and Shrimp Fried Rice is offered as a complimentary side dish - lacking flavor on its own but great with the other items. True to Asian cuisine, the food is ready quickly so you never feel like you're waiting too long to eat. The Ambiance -- Fancy, elegant yet cool, casual meets upscale, classic while still modern, sexy, just sexy. Great, strong drinks - I've always ordered martinis - Cosmos or Lemon Drops but the bar can make anything and make it well. As my bowels discharge with fury unseen since 80's in Miami; I can only think of how I regret every bite taken of this glorified road stop food. I'm not sure if I was served a chicken Satay or someone's lost cat covered in canned gravy. The "Chow's Noodles" reminds me of the cafeteria spaghetti... These watery and over cooked noodles topped with a greasy sloppy joe meets boloñese topping will haunt me longer than my middle school memories. I'm sweating at this point, I think my intestines are coming out. Dear lord, save me. Somehow, what now lies beneath me still looks better than the shredded "chicken" given to us for lettuce wraps. Mr. Chow is NOT social distancing. Our table was less than a foot away from the take next to us and we noticed they were about to seat as large group there. We brought this to the staffs attention to get something more socially distanced and were told other areas were worse...comforting. We asked that if anything better opened up to move us. My parents didn't want to leave but I was reallllllly annoyed. The thing is, Mr. Chow is Mr. Chow and clearly the mass amounts of negative reviews don't have an impact--the place was packed...literally. I hate to say I understand, but the food is really good! Everything was fresh and tasty. We had general reccomendations: crispy duck, pork dumpling, chicken lettuce wraps, sole, fried rice, candied walnut shrimp, etc. Everything was amazing. The service was like the social distancing, subpar. In addition to blatantly ignoring us and "getting the MD" To discuss social distancing we also had to hound the staff for things we ordered. So, we went here tonight because we were exhausted, and chose not to leave the hotel. I was surprised to see the white tablecloths and the white coated waiters when we entered. All the servers we passed welcomed us. We chose to sit outside as the weather is beautiful. The private booths (with white curtains & canopies is definitely the way to go. Inside was beautiful, but we were happy outside.) Our server and his many assistants (the bring the food, clear the table, check on us etc) were wonderful. The service was top notch, even outside. We chose 2 appetizers and 2 entrees per the waiter's recommendation (they serve family style, but it was just my husband and I). We chose: 1. Salt and pepper shrimp- this was fried with shells on (no heads). This is normally fried with shells, but these had a batter on them that was a bit heavy. Not my favorite (and I LOVE salt& pepper orawns) 2. Lobster shumai- these were wonderful. I'm don't normally like shumai (it's a mouth feel thing), but my husband always gets it. These were wonderful with a big chunk of lobster wrapped in the most delicate, thin noodle. I loved them. (So did hubby) 3. Nine seasons prawns - these were fried, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. We wouldn't have ordered them (after salt& pepper fried prawns) had we known. They were served with bamboo on the side. The flavor was good, if sweet. 4. Sea bass- was fantastic! We got 4 thick pieces of fish cooked PERFECTLY. We think it was in a ponzu ginger sauce which was so flavorful, and not too salty. Definitely order this! Fried rice- very light with mini shrimp and a few soybeans. Bland, but a good foil for the food. Mixed veggies- bok choy, snow pea pods, cauliflower and mushrooms. Bland, but good and perfect for the food. Service was great and our 2 non- fried dishes alone were worth the visit. Oh, bonus! For one, though I don't recall reading this on the Miami Spice page, they limit Miami Spice to groups of 2 or more. I have no problem paying for good food as my 1300+ reviews indicate but I do have an issue with quality. I'd been curious about this spot for awhile, and decided to take advantage of M.S. to sample my asian food fix. However, I was not impressed and think I will stick with my usual Asian spot (waterfront as well, on the other side of the causeway). My appetizer was a single skewer chicken satay with a peanut sauce. The sauce was slightly sweet (I liked!) And served with a side of spicy sauce. A little small for the price but OK. My main was their Beijing chicken. This was $38 for a small plate of essentially cubes of sweet and sour chicken, with no side garnishes. The taste was comparable with my neighborhood chinese joint, nothing spectacular. Speaking of sides, and since I'm allergic to shellfish, I was offered a vegetable rice with some eggs. What I was served was white rice with a few pieces of green onions. This had no eggs, no other vegetables, no soy sauce, none of anything. This was white rice even I could make. Oh and that Mr. Chow hot sauce served with my app? It disappeared when they cleaned out those plates. They offered dessert or coffee, but at that point I wasn't feeling anymore overpriced "chow".
