Classic steak sandwich. Hasn't changed in 50 years

New owners, same great food. Friendly service. I wish we didn't live so far away. That steak sandwich was the same excellent food that I had 46 years ago. Go go go!

Decent little Mom and Pop restaurant. Heads up it's cash only which is a major inconvenience. Seating is good, not some place I'd take someone on a first date. I have nothing negative to say about the food, just wish the sandwich wasn't so dry. It's worth giving it a try if you're in the area.

Laid back hole in the wall you shouldn't miss! Not a huge menu but great food at good price! Got big steak sandwich comes w fries and a soda for $14! Good flavor without sacrificing taste of beef. Steak pounded thin in fresh French roll. Fries hand cut hot and fresh. Definitely would come back next time I'm in the area.

This place makes some damn good sandwiches. It's a little hole in the wall type of place with a few tables inside, but most as I did, are doing takeout. It gets pretty busy inside but they take their sweet ass time making sure that the sandwiches are perfectly made. I ordered both their Shish Kabob and Steak Sandwich. Both were good in their own way but the Steak sandwich was my favorite. It was served with tomatoes and onions. The steak itself was thinly cut, very tender and perfectly seasoned. The shish kabob was also very tasty. This was also served with tomatoes. Both sandwiches were served with fires. The fries were freshly cut and also very delicious. This is a place I'll definitely be returning to. Their menu is simple and it all looks good. I'll probably try one of their burgers on my next visit.

Today I really had a taste for some meat. I haven't been here for a couple years, but had a craving for a steak sandwich as wanted to finally leave a review. Mr D's is situated on a busy street, with no parking, so you're better off finding parking on a side street just be careful for resident parking only. Be aware that it's cash only, no cards, so you will have to hit up an atm prior. It's a tiny place with only four 4-person tables. I typically order for carry out and eat at home. This is a family run place with a very simple menu. You will see the same people working there every time. The wife is the one taking orders and she's a sweetheart. They have the process down to a Tee, and you will get your food quickly. It's nothing fancy but it's damn good, what they do, they do well. Everything is char grilled, by far my favorites are the steak sandwich and the cheeseburger or the double cheeseburger. The shish kabob sandwich is pretty good too, just be aware it's pork even though it tastes more like beef but again I have a hard time steering away from the steak sandwich. What is a steak sandwich? A thin cut of steak that's been marinated beautifully and char grilled. It comes topped with only tomatoes and onions and wrapped by French bread. It's also covered by thick cut fries. All sandwiches come with fries by default which is cool. The fries are a bit greasy, but in a good way. Mr.D is a great place to pick up food if you need a quick bite and have a taste for some char grilled meats. Give it a try, the pricing is also very reasonable, the steak sandwich is under $12 with taxes. Probably why they only take cash, to keep the prices down.

The sandwich was really good. Got the Nashville with the hot spice level. Also got fries which were pretty good too. So why the 3 stars? Well, the individual that ordered AFTER me got their food before I did. And the employee that took my order was kind of cold(to be clear, i don't expect employees to be overly nice or even smile, but this individual was like not nice). Was it because I didn't leave a tip for a to-go order? Idk. Previous time I came in, similar thing happened but I wanted to give them another shot before leaving a review. In short, food is really good, but I'm not coming back.

To my delight, the food is still a five star experience. Juicy chicken, crispy batter, and the perfect hit of spice with the giardiniera on their Chicago Hot Chicken. Yum! It's a small building but there are plenty of seats outside. The staff was friendly. I'm pretty sure the menu is smaller than the suburban location but I could be wrong. They've got all of the important stuff here: chicken, chicken, and chicken. They aren't cheap, but this is definitely a case of getting what you pay for. I'm a southerner so this may be considered blasphemy, but they are better than Chick-fil-A. Yes, I said it, and I stand by it.
