Korea Town - Bulgogi & duck. So yummy.

Dining at Korea House was definitely a mixed bag of experiences…read more First off the service, which was excellent. The staff and their taking care of their customers could not have been in any way better, attentive, quick to respond and serve. The food was a whole different experience. My wife & I ordered the beef Bibimbap for each of us. While the dish in itself was decent, the total rip off on the beef was surprising for a CHF40 dish. There were a few shreds of shaved beef hidden under a fried egg. This was the case in both servings, hence clearly not an error but a tourism rip off gig. While I had a cup of their rice wine, We also asked for 2 cups of tap water & were charged per cup of tap water. The lack of beef on a beef dish and the charging for tap eliminated all feel good from the meal & left us with a feeling that their enterprise was an unmitigated money grab. Despite the good service I would not recommend this place nor will I return for food or drink.

I saw a picture of the bibimbap and couldn't resist. Given the location, I'm going with a 4 star…read more The service was prompt, clean, and comfortable to eat in. Also seems popular with the locals. As for the banchan, it was better than expected. The hot pot came out not not as hot as expected, so I couldn't get a good crust on my rice. I know, a bit picky, but bibimbap lovers will understand. I'm glad I found Korea Town, but expect the normal Swiss pricing if you go.

Also, not sure why some people keep calling this Chinese food? It's definitely Korean! I ordered the gochujang beef, bulgogi, and some rice wine, and everything was flavorful and authentic. The dishes had that deep, comforting Korean taste you hope for. Prices are on the expensive side, but hey, it's Switzerland, so that's pretty much expected. If you're craving Korean food with excellent service, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

We needed a break from the European food and found a highly rated Korean restaurant in Interlaken…read more It seemed really promising on TripAdvisor and Google with some reviews from Koreans stating that it tasted authentic. So we made reservations online for our large group and was really looking forward to something familiar after a long day of hiking. Let's start off with the service. Overall, it wasn't terrible but there were definitely some awkward or tense moments when it felt like they were giving us attitude. I mean, I could attribute this to our large group orders or maybe because of the language barrier. But at the end, the owner, a Korean man, came out and started talking to us and was pretty friendly. Also, because a storm was rolling in, they were very accommodating and moved our large group indoors. The meal was very expensive, unlike most restaurants in Switzerland, but we had something to compare to back home. Like the amount you pay here is more than what you would pay at an AYCE KBBQ restaurant in the US. One order of the pork belly BBQ comes with only two slabs and you have to order at least two. Same thing with the bulgolgi...you have to order two orders minimum. And you can't mix and match. It has to be two orders minimum of the same type of BBQ meat. There also isn't any free tap water here. The BBQ was decent...I don't know if I would've described it as authentic but maybe it's a style from a region in Korea that I'm not familiar with. It wasn't bad tasting...just different. The bulgolgi pieces were kind of small, very shredded. There weren't a lot of very sizeable pieces. They also got part of our order wrong when we asked for one order of spicy and another non-spicy. The Tteok-bokki and Kimchi Jjigae were pretty good though but also very expensive. Overall, we were full but felt a little unsatisfied because it didn't meet our expectations. They don't take American Express here!

We went to twinys looking for quick bite to eat under $20 and it was a hard search unfortunately (we were tired of quick meals at coop and migros). And twinys really came to our rescue. It's a food stand so everything there is to go and there is no where to sit. The staff was very friendly, one of my friends had a food allergy and they had no issues whatsoever adjusting his sandwich accordingly. I got the chicken sandwich, their staple sandwich and I was a big fan. Would recommend getting the twiny sauce and the garlic sauce as well. Was quite a flavorful sandwich and the staff even added extra pickles after I joked it. The bread is nice and crispy and the chicken came out hot. My friends loved their salami sandwich. I would note that the sandwiches can be a bit messy, we had a few bread crumbs and pieces of lettuce fall out while eating and the sauce does start to drip. We ended up coming back for more sandwiches later in our trip as our go to quick eat spot that is inexpensive. If you are looking for a bite without spending a fortune in Lucerne would recommend a visit!

The price tag is a little more consumer friendly than most places. It's a takeout window. Easy to order and food was ready quickly. I ordered the large chicken schnitzel with garlic sauce and a side of pommes for 20 CHF. Served on a baguette, the sandwich had multiple cutlets of schnitzel throughout. They go heavy on the sauce and Im here for it! The sandwich was filling but a little messy. The fries were good, nothing remarkable, but good old heated up precut frozen fries. We took our food down to the water and ate on a bench. It was great. In fact, we were so full from our sandwiches we decided to skip our sit down dinner a couple hours later.
