What I saw on his ear after picking my dog up from boarding.
    Pauline Q.

I hesitated about writing this review because I was initially so pleased with Mr. Muggles when I started bringing my dog here last year. I was going out of town and nervous about needing to board him somewhere for the first time, but the staff made him feel very welcomed. While I was on my trip, they even sent me video and photos of him. It was great! Over the course of a couple months, I've noticed a change. When I would drop him off he'd resist so much which made me think something bad happened during his daycare visits. I would ask how he's doing, and the staff mentioned its because he doesn't come in often and the dogs operate in packs... probably excluded him, etc. Fine. Reasonable enough. Another time I boarded him he came back with kennel cough. What really upset me was when I picked him up recently from a weekend of boarding at Mr. Muggles. I asked how he did and got the typical "He was fine" which is okay too, I'm not expecting a long speech of how he did... but what isn't fine is when I go home and notice a big dried up scab at the end of my dog's ear that wasn't there when I dropped him off. I immediately called to find out what happened and was told they didn't know what happened. They mentioned that if someone noticed he was bleeding, they'd clean it up and place Kwik Stop powder on it to stop the bleeding. Listen, I know dogs wrestle and all that... but maybe you could've mentioned this when I picked him up instead of being surprised by it. My dog plays well with others when we walk him at parks/beaches/etc. It's never been a problem. So, I'm surprised to see a bite mark on his ear from playing too rough. But I guess he was fine, right?

"Zachary!, it's Zachary everybody" is the greeting that is often heard as we cross Harrison street and we are spotted through the open air windows of Mr. Muggles across the way. Passerby's may not notice the shoutouts, but the leash pulls harder and harder as we near the steps leading to the "open" sign hanging from an old fashion coat rack hanging in view from the street. He races up the steps, forgetting for a moment that I--his dear one--am holding the leash. Uncharacteristically we lose eye contact. He forgets to say goodbye. The excitement, joy, pleasure, anticipation and comfort of this moment--Mr. Muggles--overtakes him.

Thanks for the bandana Mr. Muggles! We love you pre- and post-renos! Milou

Love that they take only medium to small dogs! My pup is sooo happy and sooo tired after! Mission accomplished!

I could not more highly recommend Mr. Muggles. I used them for day boarding my young golden retriever when she was only 4 months old. She was a very large puppy, and basically acted like a bull in a China shop at all times. They were so patient and loving with her that from the first moment I brought her in I knew she would be in good hands. The gentleman who was there every day (I'm so sorry I don't remember his name) remembered Pip and was always able to tell me about what she was doing during the day, and they even had a whole nap schedule planned out for her since she was so young. They really care about the dogs that are with them and have a well thought out plan for walks, rest time, etc. The area is clean, and there's even adorable big plastic couches for the dogs to sit on and play with one another. I would definitely take her back if we needed boarding again.

Tobie and I absolutely love Muggles!! We have always had great experiences here. Over the last couple years he's become so sociable, and I love seeing how happy he is after a long day of playing. I really appreciate that the dogs are free range during the day and not in kennels, and there are always a couple staff members inside to keep the dogs entertained. Tobie loves the occasional treats and chasing balls across the room. We always look forward to drop off time, and we're not going anywhere!

Love the people there, they've always been very kind to our small, senior dog. Facility seems well maintained.

The reviews here get all the details - deeply caring for your beloved fuzzball, plant whispering, coming back to find the house cleaner than you left it, medication administration, the heartwarming and occasionally hilarious notes... The truth is that it's all been written over and over again; Elaine cares deeply for your pets and your home. Elaine has taken care of my cats since 2014 on more occasions than I can count, and I trust her implicitly. She has demonstrated a level of care for my cats, my plants, and my home that is unmatched by any pet-sitter I've ever known. She is overflowing with compassion and intellect, and she is organized and detail-oriented in a way that is dizzying to contemplate. I remember that, when I moved, she had a system for updating my records so the transition was flawless: new key, new alarm code, house preferences, new garbage night - because yes, she takes out and brings in the garbage! Perhaps one novel perspective I can offer is the deep confidence I have in her ability to figure things out if the unexpected arises. I have taken several long hikes where I am away from any cell coverage for up to three weeks at a time. Before the first of these hikes, Elaine and I discussed some contingencies and made arrangements, including a veterinary care directive and emergency plan. If veterinary care is required, Elaine will be able to address it and advocate for my pets the way that I would. This gave me a comfort that is beyond words when I was off in the wilderness. I know that, if I've forgotten some detail, Elaine will take care of it thoroughly and completely. I have recommended Elaine to everyone I know with a cat, and if you're at all on the fence, don't be - get in touch with her and save yourself and your pets from a "learning experience" elsewhere. Elaine is a true professional, a local small-business-owner who provides a service far superior to any corporation's, and she will impress and endear you in a way that exceeds expectations.

She put my trash bins out for me as part of her service, she took care of some feeder mice for my partner's snakes, she emptied litter, she fed wet and dry and kept the big boii from stealing the slower, pickier eater's food. She spent real time with the cats, she did not just enter and leave. She checked in and made sure that she did everything correctly. Elaine is a professional and did an outstanding job. I am a highly satisfied customer and intend to call on her services again when I need them. Cannot recommend enough for anyone in SF.

He was 13 at the time, and somewhat active, but definitely high needs. I grew up with him and always loved him, but taking care of an aging dog is a very big challenge. As you can imagine it was an emotional time for me, and Tricia helped me get my house better set up for Brunie, assured me I was doing a good job with him, and left me daily detailed notes on how he was adjusting to city life. She would txt me if there was a really bad day, so I would know what I was coming home to. She was able to stop by a few times on days I had to work a little later. and worked with me to get a schedule that worked best for Bruno. Each day is a little different with an old man and she was a great judge on if he just needed a little play in the yard, just a short walk, or maybe just some treats and petting. My roommate also has a very anxious cat, that used to throw up every day due to separation anxiety. Tricia would talk to Oliver thru the window daily, and the cat has never been better. There is so much more that Tricia helped me with, but the key take away is that she loves the animals she works with, and even the ones she just walks by. I lost my Brunie, but his last months as an official city dog were made better every day by having Tricia in his life.
