Brought my six year old in today. I saw some blocks and asked how much they were but the store owner said he wants to sell them to a math teacher. Okay? So they're not for sale? Then he asked me how much I want to pay for them. Uhhh... now all of a sudden I have to price your items for you? I looked on eBay and they're $6 for 200 pieces and he wanted us to count. When I informed him of this, he wanted us to count the blocks. Every. Single. Block. Who does that? I rather buy them on eBay than at this store. Indecisive owner, wants others to price his items for him. A lot of these books are way overpriced. I much rather patronize other thrift stores in town that sell just as good literature for a fraction of the price.

Mr. Otto's book store is a great children's bookstore. I was able to find the "No, David!" children's book by David Shannon. There are also a lot of picture books, Dr. Seuss books, chapter books such as Harry Potter series (I recently saw today), goosebumps etc. There are lot of educational children's books as well for math and history. Mr. Otto also has a great sense of humor and is very helpful. You should definitely stop by and check it out, you might find a hidden gem in there!

Hunter got a new library! Thanks Mr.Otto for letting us rummage through your shop. He can't wait to read through all his new books.

So many books, you'll definitely get lost in here. You'll find quality, previously loved reading for your little ones. Mr. Otto is welcoming and friendly. The shop has a wide selection that is constantly being refreshed by teachers retiring and kids advancing in their reading skills. Definitely my new go to spot for buying children's books in town.

This is the best book store in stockton for classic children's books and even new age ones as well. I came in here expecting to look for some novels but quivkly turned into a 7 year old again with all my childhood favorite books. The owner is a groovy guy too! Hes extremely knowledgeable . He knows his shiet about a lot of books not just kid stuff. Remember support people like this and skip out on amazon and barnes and nobles.

What a great owner. So kind and entertained my son while helping us pick out some great classics.

We have loved Friends of the Stockton Public Library for years, and it never disappoints. There's…read moretruly nothing like a small bookstore like this anymore--it brings back such a sense of nostalgia and wonder every time we visit. They receive tons of book donations from the community, which makes each trip feel fresh since there's always something new in rotation. The prices are amazing too--I walked out with 4 books for under $20, which is such a steal. The staff is friendly, the bookstore is clean and well organized, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and calm. This place is a staple in Stockton, and we keep coming back again and again. Highly recommend supporting local!

The way the sections are set up and alphabetized is very confusing and makes no sense at all. There are piles of books stacked haphazardly around the store and even books on carts sitting in the aisles. There were CD's mixed in with books and even some vinyl were scattered about the store with no apparent designated place for them to be. I understand with customers coming and going, it can be hard to stay on top of these things, but as someone that has retail book experience, it looks as if this place isn't even trying. They do have a decent selection of recent publications, however you would have to spend the entire day in order to find them. The used book pricing is enticing, but not enough to waste one's time inside.

Just the off chance you're African American and is interested in looking for comics at this…read moreestablishment, I would kindly recommend you go to Al's Comic Book shop on Miracle Mile. When I entered the store, the person behind the counter immediately questioned me on why I was coming in the store today. I replied, by stating I wanted to browse. Honestly I see this comic shop a lot and never had the time to come by and I wanted to check it out while waiting for my order to be ready at Best Lumpia. The shop owner then asked what I was interested in, I told him my husband really likes American comics and then I was going to tell him that I am more into Anime/Manga, but I never got the chance. He stopped me in the middle of my statement when he noticed I had my purse on me (which was medium sized) and told me I would have to leave it on the front counter if I wanted to look inside his store. Now, when I say that I know he has the right to say that, (especially since it's off Thorton Rd. and in Stockton)... the whole thing just gave me the "ick". It was such a turn off. I responded by saying "okay" and then left. Going forward I plan to stick to Al's Comics, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

This place is craptastic…read more Everything is over-priced by a massive amount, the whole store is pretty messy and feels like a garage-sale, the employees are rude and overbearing, and they have the most poorly-run Magic (trading card game) tournaments I've ever seen. They have a selection of comic/game figurines that have been sitting in the store for years, untouched, because of how overpriced they are, same with their old used videogames. They charge $30 for $10 card, as an example. They have no bathroom, yet host 30~person 4 hour tournaments. Every other store I've gone to for tournaments allows food and drinks, yet the owner here will always tell you to take it outside, yet they sell snacks and drinks inside. What the fuck? Poorly organized, haphazard, unprofessional, and downright incompetent is how I would describe it all. Avoid it, you'll be so glad you did. Any online retailer or other local game store is about a million times better.
