The way the sections are set up and alphabetized is very confusing and makes no sense at all. There are piles of books stacked haphazardly around the store and even books on carts sitting in the aisles. There were CD's mixed in with books and even some vinyl were scattered about the store with no apparent designated place for them to be. I understand with customers coming and going, it can be hard to stay on top of these things, but as someone that has retail book experience, it looks as if this place isn't even trying. They do have a decent selection of recent publications, however you would have to spend the entire day in order to find them. The used book pricing is enticing, but not enough to waste one's time inside.

I love this store…read more Always tidy , well lit and inviting, and there's coffee too! We love the laid back vibe that the staff gives and they are quite knowledgeable too. You'll notice how eager they are to help you obtain the book that you're looking for, whether they have it in stock or not, they will hunt it down and get it for you. The person who seemed to be the owner was rude, arrogant, and clearly has no idea how to treat customers. Instead of being welcoming, he made the entire environment uncomfortable. There was even a family with kids in the store trying to enjoy themselves, and his behavior completely killed the vibe. It's honestly embarrassing to see someone run a business this way. After looking at other reviews, it's obvious this isn't a one-time thing--this seems to be a pattern. If this is how you treat people, don't be surprised when customers stop coming back. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place entirely. There are plenty of better shops out there that actually respect their customers.

So many books to do with my culture so many colorful books waiting to be explored wanting to be read by young and wise hands. I was welcomed with such a wonderful sight. fond and old memories started finding their way back to the surface and I could recall my first visit to the elementary library discovering words and pages for the first time. Shelves upon shelves stacked with knowledge to be rediscovered. Small and cozy. You'll have to search for it and like all good things its a hard find. But so worth it. Didn't know stockton held such Gem within its city. Mr Soto has an Awesome variety of Chicano/Mexican culture books from the pre-hispanic era to the Chicano movement and much much more!! A very knowledgeable man patient and willing to sit with you and share his life experiences. I truly was blessed to have spent 4 hours sharing stories, ideas and books with Mr Soto. Sad to leave but happy to come back for more books! And yes I got a membership so now I can take home and read all the books I want! Except for Mr Soto's collection those you'd have to read in the center!
