This place has been opened for a long time and it's literally by Fina estampa which is the best pollo a la brasa restaurant in Chicago so they're doing something right to stay in business. I'd say their chicken is good, but nothing out of this world. It lacks a bit more flavor but it is definitely better than an average rotisserie chicken. This is supposed to be pollo a la brasa though which is supposed to be better than rotiseri chicken, Their sides are packed and they have amazing tostones. All of the prices have gone up and honestly unless you get the whole chicken, everything else is pretty pricey now. They also have a new credit card extra percentage charge which makes this place a lot more pricier. ​My family and I went to Mr. Pollo for dinner on 11/03/2023. After requesting the receipt, we discovered that an 18% gratuity had been added to the bill. The waitress said that it was the restaurant's policy when asked about the mandatory tipping. However, there are no laws that govern how much gratuity should be paid. The restaurant does not have a readable notice, except at the cash register. Apart from the cash register, which indicates that a gratuity is added to the bill without providing a percentage. I had to put on my reading glasses in order to read the little print on the sign. The manager claimed that Square was the one who enforced the required tip. She went on to say that the restaurant's policy is to tack on an 18% gratuity to the total charge. I informed her we were not refusing to pay the bill or leave a tip; we simply wouldn't be paying the 18% gratuity since gratuity is entirely voluntary. And that the customer's right to choose the quantity must be unrestricted. Restaurants don't have the right to deceive their customers, and any agreement must be fully transparent and readily understandable. She then removed the mandatory gratuity and demanded that we pay in cash. When questioned about her demand for cash, she replied that she was powerless to alter Square's required tip. Since I manage a small business and utilize Square for business transactions, I was aware that she was lying. Attempting to put an end to the unpleasant evening, I requested my brother to wait in the restaurant while I went to the nearest bank to get the cash. I asked her to write "Paid in Cash" someplace on the receipt when I returned. I was afraid the manager would call and lie to the police about getting paid. In addition, I gave her a $10.69 tip; given her great service, she should have earned a 20% tip, I thought the amount was more than appropriate given the difficult time they caused my family to experience. The food was delivered timely and the driver was very kind (it was a hellish cold that evening) as he called ahead to tell me he'd bring my food up to the door. Tell me why I ate 90% of my 1/4 chicken special before finding a stringy public hair in my rice... and then another one. recent complaint to add on....... EVERY TIME I ever call Mr. Pollo to place an order since the beginning, a female always answers the phone and says she "doesnt understand" (English) when you try to place in a simple order with words that your reading STRAIGHT off THEIR MENU. If you dont understand English, why are you always picking up the phone for people that WILL BE placing their orders in English since this is America and people speak English here. Why has management there never fixed this..... ever ?? Why does it always need to take 5 minutes to place a 15 second order?? I just want to place a simple quick order for food without being given a hard time each and every time......and sometimes due to this not understanding English problem, the order shows up wrong.....they really need someone answering the phone who understands English too from the start...... past compliment a 1/2 year ago ..... My husband, daughter and I ordered carry out today. We called ahead and the food was ready on time. It was our first trip to Mr. Pollo in 3 years. We live in the suburbs and it's a long drive to get there. The food was definitely worth the 45 minute drive! We ordered the Family Dinner, which includes a whole chicken and 3 side dishes. We ordered fries, Caesar salad, and yucca frita. We also ordered sweet plantains and chicken soup. The plantains were a little drier and less sweet then we are used to, but overall the food was excellent. Our bill was only $33 for all of that food and we still have enough leftovers for another meal for the 3 of us. Our daughter was disappointed that we didn't dine in, so the next time we come, we will eat there. We plan on coming back next month for the best pollo a la brasa in town! read more

I came here from a recommendation of a friend with my wife and i got to say thanks jesus you were right. Juicy tasty suckulient chicken. Served with big portions.and you get to pick your own side dishes. Very affordable prices for such big portions. Hot fresh good food.
