My boyfriend loves all the Jibaritos but the Lechón Plate may be the best dish I've had anywhere in the city (and I have been to Michelin star and Top 50 Bars rated spots around Chicago). We split the Tacos Dorados De Pollo En Consomé as an app for the first time today and it was simply perfect. The lemonade is made super fresh. I have a feeling I may have to try everything on the menu. The energy is immaculate - maximalist mix of colorful tables and chairs, plants, original paintings, and a signed poster of Guy Fieri. The people who work here are so kind and helpful. The music is not so loud that you can't talk. There's an open-air indoor area and an outdoor section. I saw a foodie review/post them on ig and bookmarked this place about a year ago. I was in the area and decided to try them out. I got the steak sandwich on french bread. Service was 5 stars all day! The owner was ECCENTRIC! LOL We dined in. You place your order and he screams your name once it's ready. I wish I lived in Chicago and could go back next week. I had such an amazing experience at Omarcitos today. I stumbled across an IG reel of this food spot, and I immediately knew I had to check them out. The cafe has such an interesting set up. You order from what appears to be a food truck, and there is an outdoor (open concept) and indoor seating. We ordered the steak sandwich and ropa vieja plate. The steak sandwich was DELICIOUS. The bread was crispy, and the meat was flavorful and juicy. The sandwich also paired so well with their garlic side sauces. The Ropa vieja was also so insanely yummy. The beef was so juicy and savory. The garlic rice was also so yummy. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, but the plantains were actually pretty decent! Omar is the nicest guy, and I'm glad I stopped by this spot. The ropa vieja in my Jibarito was so flavorful, and I loved the garlic sauce. I didn't love the dough for the empanada, but you can't go wrong with guava and cream cheese. I also had to try the passionfruit parfait. The only thing that threw me off was all the seeds - I felt like my mouth was full of seeds the whole time. There is tons of outside seating, my food came out fast, and service was fantastic. Had a great lunch with friends here yesterday . The spot is a little confusing when you first walk in... there's a patio with a food truck and outdoor seating . You can sit outside or grab a menu and go inside . The inside has about 8 tables that fit 4 people each . Inside there is a table with utensils and water glasses as well for help yourself service . You order at the food truck window and grab a seat. They brought our food inside to us on a tray. We ordered the rope vieja, steak jibaritos, and flautas . Everything was very good but I especially loved the flautas with the consome. It was absolutely delicious and very unique, I drank the leftover consome because it was that good . Just poor everything in one big bowl . The flautas keep their crisp even when swimming in the broth . I liked the shredded Munster cheese on the jibarito and loved the green sauce . Sooo good!! The restaurant is byob and we brought mixes for bloody Mary's and some beers. It was nice to enjoy the meal and not feel rushed . We have been wanting to try this place since our daughter moved to Logan Square over 3 years ago. But the hours never matched up with our visits. She and her partner raved about it. We finally made it yesterday. The food was freakin AMAZING! There was a line but it moved quickly. Plenty of outdoor seating and some covered patio type seating. Agua fescas and ropa Viejo are highly recommended. Customer service was quick and very polite and helpful. The staff are all fun, lively and kind, and the experience of ordering up at the window is fun. There is a small amount of seating indoors but we didn't have an issue getting a spot. He started shouting at me in Spanish -- I don't speak Spanish fluently, but I understood enough to realize he was telling me to wait while he kept chatting with another customer, as if my time meant nothing. I hadn't even said a single word to him before he started yelling. His behavior was completely disrespectful and unacceptable. I don't know if he was drunk or high, but something was clearly off. Came on a Saturday for lunch bc I was told the weekends has a block party vibe and there were no lies told. I was worried about a long line but it wasn't too bad. The DJ was still setting up but you can already tell from the vibes this place was ittttt. I hear Omar calling people by name and checking on people and their food and asking if they need anything else. By the time I got up to the window to order, he asked me and my friend for our names and started talking to us by name. Sooo personable and so much thought and effort put into connecting with customers. We took a shot of hot Cuban coffee together and that was GOOD especially for the soul. I wanted a plate but wasn't sure which to get and Omar immediately recommended fish; I said say less. When I got my plate, someone in line said my dish looked good and asked what it was lol and when I ate it... oh my god. The fish was fried perfectly and it was so juicy and flavorful. I love the garlic and the spicy sauce. They warn everyone that a little can go a long way with the spice but it wasn't that bad to me, I actually emptied out the small container they gave me lol I was torn between a melon and sandia agua fresca but he recommended the melon and oh my god, hands down the best agua fresca I've ever had in my life!! It was ripe and sweet but you can taste this hint of sourness in there either from a lemon or lime and that was something I never realized I needed. I would order jugs of this to take home if I could! I wanted an empanada but was worried it would be too much food but Omar hooked it up and gave me a lechón empanada. I'm usually not that big of a fan of empanadas but this one was amazing. The meat was so tender and juicy and not dry at all, and it paired perfectly with the crispy outside layer. I also ordered a banana pudding bc a girl loves her desserts and that hit the spot too. Paying with card includes a fee but you can zelle or venmo him and that actually does more to support this amazing small local business. It was actually cute because the next door gym was celebrating their 1 year anniversary and Omar gave a sweet shoutout to the owner there, who also shouted out Omar. It's just a very community vibe here and I loved it so much! Also gym owner is very cuteeee if yall wanted to support even more small businesses lol 20/10 would recommend for the food and the service and just Omar being the heart and soul of this place! read more
