My inspector referred me to Mr. Rekey and I am extremely disappointed in their lack of communication and follow through! I typically refrain from posting negative experiences as I understand things sometimes happen. But this was our 2nd attempt with them. Mr. Rekey didn't even schedule us the first time we called and that was my "understanding" occurrence. We scheduled rekey service for a 2nd time, on a specific day, bc we are over an hour away from our new property. Took the day off, waited hours, just for them to no show! We were given a 2-4pm timeframe. We were told the locksmith would contact us a half hour before arriving to confirm. They never showed up, never called, texted, and never even apologized for not coming! We called at the end of our timeframe and were told that they would be there in 30-40 min. We waited an additional 2 hours. I called the next morning and was put on hold for 30 min. to just be told they couldn't get in contact with the locksmith that was assigned to us the day prior. Although they confirmed we had an appt and were scheduled. We spoke to a supervisor and they never explained what happened or even rectified the situation. They finally called me back 6 hours later after they had already sent someone out to the house without even communicating if we still wanted services or if we were at the property (which we weren't). I would go with another locksmith! They showed little regard to our time, the cost of taking off, the services they agreed to provide, or even our waiting 2 hours after the window THEY SCHEDULED. After this last lack of communication and service, I had to share my experience to hopefully help someone else do their due diligence before scheduling with them. read more

Being very conscientious of how a negative review can disproportionately impact a small business on Yelp...I have never left a review less than 4 stars on Yelp. It takes a pretty bad experience for me to drop my first 1 Star. Long story short, Mr. Rekey should be renamed Mr. Reschedule. Mr. Rekey requires a 4-hour service arrival window (even a utility company like Time Warner Cable, with their oligopolistic territorial rights, now provides an 1-hour arrival window). No one shows up during that scheduled 4-hour window. Then 2 hours past the 4-hour window, somebody from Mr. Rekey calls to say they will need to reschedule...in the words of Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time for that." read more

Had Rekey come out to our rental property in January and had the locks replaced. The house was sitting empty until our renters moved in March and got locked out due to the lock. Rekey botched the first job and then charge us twice to fix the problem. Would definitely not recommend. read more

I scheduled an appointment and took a day off from work to accommodate their 4 hrs time slot. I also requested a confirmation email detailing the appointment time and date. It was a no show. I then just decided to do it my self which was super easy to do ( thanks to the great staff at Home Depot). The only reason I gave them 2 stars is that approximately 1 week later, I received multiple calls and voicemails when they realized they messed up and they did attempt to make things right. read more

Did not tell us the price upfront, did not know what we had ordered, made us go to the hardware store and buy some of our own hardware, tried to match the remaining hardware to what he had in his truck, he still had to run to the hardware store himself again, I had to ask him repeatedly what this was all going to cost and he could not tell me until it was over, hardware STILL DOES NOT MATCH, cost over $300 to replace two locksets with deadbolts and one door with a locking handle, took ALL DAY to accomplish this, and only after he left did we discover that some of the keys worked and some did not. The Property Manager of my home set up service with this company to come and Rekey our locks. I talked to a Rekey representative who told me they would be at my house TODAY between 8-noon. No show and no call. Waste of my time. My property manager called them, since I have no control over who is being hired to perform services, and MR Rekey sent me a text as if I were a new client trying to setup service; nevermind that you no showed today. After trying several times to call the number, which by the way, doesn't exactly work since I was disconnected twice and put on hold for 15 minutes only to be sent to a voicemail, I still have no new locks and have no idea when they will actually provide service. I can't wait to waste another 4 hours of my day "wondering" if they will show up. I would not recommend this company, nor will I use them for any service. read more

My home warranty company (HWC) referred me them to get our home rekeyed. Initially, I was told they would call and schedule with me within 4 hours (that was last week). I called HWC today they called this vendor, tgey stated they'd call by 5:00 pm. Still no call. I called this vendor directly and spent 30 minutes trying to schedule but the person answering the phones clearly didn't know what to do, after a fourth attempt, I finally got scheduled 5 days after initial contact. After all the screw-ups, I still have to wait for a four hour window appointment time. Very unprofessional! read more

Update: After my review I was contacted and our issue was addressed and corrected by a different technician who was extremely friendly and professional. I was connected to Mr. Rekey via my home warranty company. Once they finally called us to set up the appointment, the locksmith came out today rekey my new home. I was assured that all locks were in working order at the end of my visit. The next day, I recked two of my exterior locks which were not working. I immediate called them and was never able to get through after being on hold for 45 minutes. I then called my home warranty company and was given a direct number to their dispatch which went straight to voicemail, during their normal business hours. I also sent a message directly to the locksmith who did the work and have not heard back. It has been over 24 hours and I still have not heard anything back. It is unfortunate that we are unable to feel safely locked in our home due to this mistake, and I would think that if this were their own home, they would consider this an emergency. Be sure to walk with the locksmith and check every piece of work they completed before they leave your home. read more

Beware! Absolutely incompetent!!! My home warranty sent this company to rekey our doors and the service technician Mr Rekey sent had no idea what he was doing. We had several different door locks, and pretty much every time he said "I have never seen a lock like this before" (which in hindsight I should have told them to send someone else!!!). He couldn't rekey our front door at all, he said the cylinder isn't coming out. And he messed up a handle from another door that cannot be tightened anymore because he broke the screw that's stuck in the lever (eventually the handle will fall off after use) so I have to get another door handle. Funny thing, I called another rekey company later and the technician they sent was able to rekey our front door within 2 minutes. There was nothing wrong with it (which Mr Rekey claimed). read more

I never actually got to use them. Their scheduling group overbooks (or incorrectly books) their locksmiths, so no one ends up showing up during their four hour window. Options given to me: rebook another four hour window, or allow rekeying when no one is home and they would hide the keys in the yard. I laughed at the second option thinking it was a joke. Sadly, they were serious. The one star is for booking. I am unable to rate the quality of work. I feel bad for the locksmith staff. The locksmith called me later and apologized. It's not his fault. This is really a poor way to treat the staff. Side note: if you really need a four hour window.....you likely aren't booking correctly. I called a competitor. read more

I came to use Mr. Rekey through my home warranty company. They contacted me very quickly to set up my appointment. My locksmith was Justin and he was awesome, very courteous, and got right to work. That would have been enough, but Justin also helped me with another issue in my home that I just mentioned on a whim. He saved me from having to put in another call to my warranty company to have an entirely different company come out. If all of the employees at Mr. Rekey are like Justin then 5 stars isn't enough. We called our home warranty company to get our new house rekeyed and they set us up with Mr. Rekey. The company called me within an hour of requesting the service to set up a time and they mentioned their limited weekend hours but were still able to schedule us in for a Saturday morning appointment. The locksmith gave us a call when he was en route. He rekeyed all three doors and even reprogrammed our garage in a timely manner. Would recommend! read more

If you need a lock re-keyed and want to know the price upfront, call these guys. No surprises, no added fees. The technician who came out was personable, knowledgeable, and quick. He advised me about replacing equipment, but didn't pressure me to do so. I had three doors with knob locks and deadbolts re-keyed, and two new doorknobs installed for less than $125.00. Set up this service through my home warranty. They were supposed to be here between 9 and 1 today, and 2 different people told me I would get a courtesy call 30 min before the locksmith was scheduled to be here. I get a text at 12:19 saying he's on the way, but by 1 there is still no one here. I figured he wasn't coming so went ahead and started getting ready for another event I had to leave for at 2. About 5 or 10 min after 1:00, dude starts banging on my door like he's the police. I got out of the shower, put a robe on and went to the door. He was gone and had left a business card on my porch. I waited FOUR HOURS for him and he couldn't wait 4 minutes?!?!?! He couldn't call or text me (my phone was in the bathroom and I had the ringer turned all the way up in case anyone called)? I called them back and the girl lied and said he was there 30 min ago and she called to let me know he was on his way. I have not missed any calls today. I hung up on her as she was saying "I'm sorry you feel that way" which is the most passive aggressive non-apology ever. Never again, jerks. read more

This company is by far one the absolute best we've had ever. From their levels of professionalism, to their customer service orientation, to the level of professionalism of their technicians even the appointment setting and the follow up. I just can't say enough about them. They sent two different technicians out to accommodate us because when we didn't have the lock we wanted to replace. Most often it's been our experience when we get a referral from our homeowners warranted they're not always the absolute best the qualified to do the job but that's where it starts and that's where it stops Mr. Rekey was just the opposite of that. You don't typically expect the level of service we received. My husband is not the typical one to try to call and leave commendations, even though he is a grateful person. He just doesn't take the time to do that. He made sure he picked up the phone and not only called, he had me to write this review and insisted. He mentioned the young man that came and followed up on the final visit was the absolute nicest, most accommodating, patient, knowledgeable and he went over and beyond and we really appreciated that. Since we did not have the keys to our home, he didn't know if he was going to be able to change both the bottom and the top locks. I made an appointment... a few days ...ahead of time to re-key a small commercial building. I told them it was a commercial building. I was quoted a price verbally on the phone. On the day of the appointment, as the company is on the way to the appointment, I receive an email stating I was "incorrectly" quoted at a residential special rate and more expensive commercial pricing will apply. Luckily, I read the email before the company did any work. I quickly replied to the email stating that I told them it was a commercial building before they quoted me and I expected them to honor their original quote. They reply "We apologize for the confusion, but this is and has been the commercial rekey pricing" insinuating that I'm the one that is confused. I ask them to verify that they will not honor their original quote to which they replied "we will not honor the quote". I then cancelled the rekey service. I tried to reach out to the purported owner of the franchise. No response. Luckily, I was able to avoid their last minute bait and switch tactics. Be aware of what they are doing. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Consider yourself lucky if you even get a hold of a real person. Multiple attempts on the phone, the whole press 0 and well call you back thing doesnt work. I had to schedule an appointment online thinking I would get some sort of communication through there. No confirmation or anything until 20 minutes before the technician was on his way to my home. I hadnt talked to anyone prior so I was going in blind as to the charges. Before he did any work at all, I asked for all the information on pricing for what I was having done. All he told me was the price of the lock he was to install. Cut to the time for me to pay and he said someone was going to contact me for payment. Later that day, I got a phone call from Mr Rekey saying my total was almost $70 more than what the technician had told me while he was here. I expressed to them my frustration but was told that they would send me my invoice (which I have had to call back 3 seperate times sitting on hold for more than 15 min each time) to have them send me the invoice, which to this day I have still not received. I am currently on hold for the fourth time to request an invoice yet again. I was given the direct line of an account manager who has failed to call me back after multiple attempts to get on the line with her. Very Very poor customer service, I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

They really have their act together and work like a well-oiled machine. They all act like this is their very favorite job and you are the only person calling in. They make time to listen to any requests or information, and help guide you with services and prices. They have rekey services that make my life so much easier, they have an inspection service that is second-to-none, and a cleaning service that will make your other cleaning vendors look like Pigpen from Charlie Brown.
