Mr. Rooter Plumbing - Above & Beyond Isn't Even the Half of It I had one of those "everything breaks at once" days--my hot water tank failed right as another company was leaving after repairing my furnace. Newton's Law in full effect. I was already overwhelmed when Mr. Rooter arrived, but what happened next honestly restored my faith in what customer service can look like. Their technician came out, assessed the situation, and gave me clear options. The tank they could supply was pricey, but instead of pushing it, he told me I could buy my own and they'd install it. That alone was appreciated. But here's where they went so far above and beyond that I was genuinely moved. The technician followed me to two different stores, helped me haul the tank back home, and installed it. When he suspected the tank I purchased might be defective, he didn't shrug it off or leave me to deal with it. He talked to his manager, and together they decided--without me asking, hinting, or even hoping--that he would come back the next morning, disconnect the defective tank, take it back to the store for me, and reinstall the replacement AT NO EXTRA COST. Let me be clear: they would have been completely justified in charging me again. Business is business. But instead, they chose compassion, humanity, and understanding of the bigger picture. Coming from a large company, that level of care honestly made me cry. My uncle, cousins, and friends are all licensed plumbers and offered to do the job for free, but the technician's willingness to follow me to the stores and transport everything is why I didn't mind paying. We contacted Mr. Rooter and Joe Preist came out and did an inspection to find our water leak, he gave us an estimate for opening our ceiling and when he found a leaking pipe he contacted the restoration team and they took photos of the damage and came up with a game plan for the repair. This isn't the greatest new that you want just days before Christmas but it is what it is, Joe did a great job and we feel that we got a quality repair for a fair price. Joe worked his butt off for 2 days and replaced all of the damaged pipes. I hope not to have anymore problems for a long time but if we do, we will definitely be calling Mr. Rooter for any problem. read more

We had some issues with relatively new hot water tanks putting our "rusty" water. Will came out and replaced our Anode rods, did an extensive flush of the tanks and got everything back to normal. First of all we have used Mr Rooter services off and on for the last 15 years. we actually had two issues this time. Recently our shower stall in bathroom #1 had a leak, and the floor had to be replaced we utilized a contractor our insurance company referred (the contractor was a nightmare) they installed the new floor tile and reinstalled the toilet, however, every time the toilet was flushed it would make an extremely loud prolonged noise. Bathroom #2 had a toilet that just generally needed replaced. We did not want the insurance company's contractor back in our house ever again, so we called Mr Rooter. Their tech John arrived assessed the situations with both the toilets and proceeded to repair the one making noise and replaced the other one. John was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, personable and most importantly got the job done in a reasonable time. read more

The technician was great, and the work was completed successfully. I contacted them to have a kitchen faucet replaced. I had bought the faucet and it just needed to be installed. They only thing that needed to be replaced were the 2 flex lines. I was shocked to be charges $438. I believe that is way too much. Not sure I will use their service in the future. read more

I needed a water valve replacement so that I could have a washing machine installed. Much to my surprise Paul Tomayko came out to my home on Saturday, November 10, to do the work. In addition he installed an emergency shut off valve for the washtub faucet, ball valves, supply lines and a new faucet. When I first did a review for Mr. Rooter, it was right after installation of my new hot water heater and water softener. My experience was positive. However, now I am not sure I would recommend anyone. Customer service and standing behind the work is important - something Mr. Rooter does not apparently do. I had an issue resulting from the installation work and had scheduled an appointment. No one showed up - no one even called. That is rude and shows total lack of concern for the customer. Wanna flush money down the toilet? Call these guys. After their first visit, I felt good about them. They came on a Friday evening and seemed very knowledgeable and professional. But after a few visits, I realized they were not. The original ask was to find the source of a leak and repair it. We spent more than $XXXX on fixing it. They referred us to their sister company, Rainbow Restoration, to remove the mold in the basement ceiling caused by the leak(s). The plumber noticed that the a leak got into the subflooring of one of our bathrooms and that it would need to get ripped out and replaced. That was something we needed insurance for, and we were directed to a Rainbow Restoration employee who was referred to a "pit bull" when it came to dealing with insurance. We tried repeatedly to connect him with the claims adjuster, and they never ended up speaking to each other--the pit bull didn't bark or even whimper. We had to choose not to repair that because the insurance adjuster never got a clear understanding of the claim--I don't speak plumbing--and denied it. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and there was still a leak, from the same place they repaired. We called them out and they charged us full price for fixing it--WTF. And then they had the nerve to tell us that they could do an entire bathroom renovation (for a ridiculous price). And their sister company, Rainbow Restoration, charged us a boatload just to set up a dehumidifier and a fan (I could have done that with my dehumidifier and fan myself); they didn't even replace the tiny little molded panel in the basement ceiling, they just attempted to dry it out. And with the bathroom still leaking, it got saturated again. They wouldn't even come out. read more

I called Mr. Rooter to flush my basement sewer lines. During the process I was told there was an obstruction and they needed to use a camera to evaluate the problem. After the evaluation I was told that I had a collapsed drainage pipe. The cost of the flush and camera evaluation was $963.89. The estimate for the repair of the collapse line was $4811.62. I ultimately completed the repair with another company. There was no collapsed pipe. It was entirely normal. This cost me in total $4928.09 for a problem diagnosed by Mr. Rooter which did not exist. HORRIBLY experience. I was in the process of remolding my bathroom the under floor was wet , there was leak . I call mr .rooter , they come out and there was Leak . They call Right restoration company, to try help dry it out . 7 days later nothing was dry . They came by took there equipment said claim was denied . we had already paid them 1,000 for claim to file with our home owners insurance company . Asbestos was found , this right restoration company did NOTHING. We call and said they could not refund us our money .What kind company will not even communicate on what do next or even give us a quote to fix without the insurance . My review: DO NOT USE!! I had a pipe freeze and called because my typical plumber could not come out. The pipe had not burst and rather than risk it I decided to pay a "professional" to come thaw it out for me. Neither toilet or shower would work. By the time they left I had a hole in my basement wall which they charged me $1800 for and left all the stone laying in my basement. They essentially created a window in my basement and made no attempt to block it when they left. The man said he couldn't figure out how the plumbing in my house was run and that he couldn't fix the shower or toilet. I tried to explain how it was connected (bathroom is right above kitchen and the plumbing lines connect. I know because of work with previous plumber) and he told me no I was wrong. He charged me $2000 for the call and told me to go stay with someone because he couldn't fix the problem. Two days later had a different company come out and they fixed the problem in less than an hour and charged me 350. When I explained what had happened with Mr.Rooter I was told that they work on commission and that I was taken advantage of by the employee. We have tried to reach out to the company for a refund but have not had success. DO NOT USE!! read more

We have used Mr Rooter for almost 10 years. I write this review with much conflict because I think the technicians that work at Mr Rooter are amazing and I have no complaint with them. My complaint is with the salesmen and the owner, who refused to hear me out when I asked to speak with her. Four years ago my husband and I bought our house only to find out that the main sewer line was failing. We paid $16,000 to Mr Rooter. They came, dug up our yard (which took almost 2 years to get put back together and properly graded) and "replaced the entire main sewer line". They wooed us with their "lifetime warranty". That job took our entire life savings but it had to be done. In our minds, our plumbing woes were over. Fast forward to now - we come home to find 3 inches of black sewage in our finished basement. Once again, we call Mr Rooter. They discover that the pipe protruding out of our house has bottomed out....we were shocked...how was their old pipe still remaining when they had already come out 4 years ago and replaced it? Because they had left several feet of old pipe....that's how. We asked for it to be covered under the "lifetime warranty". They said no. We ended up paying another $11,000 to Mr Rooter - money we do not have in this difficult pandemic. We used their financing which is at 24.99% interest. We will never give Mr Rooter our business again. As plumbing experts it was their duty to show integrity and do the job right the first time. We are not plumbing experts, we relied on their expertise. If they knew they were digging up a customers entire yard and that clay and cast iron pipes have a limited life - why would they not replace all of it? And as plumbing experts shouldn't they have known that disturbing the ground would cause the remaining clay pipe to fail? I think they did know that 4 years ago. I think they banked on this outcome. That is how you become a $30 million company. My advice - don't get romanced by the useless "lifetime warranty". Don't panic and don't use your lifetime savings on these crooks. read more
