From the outside this place doesn't look like much, but let me tell you, the food is really good and the portions are big! It's in a rundown looking strip mall and even inside, it's not much to look at, but in these Covid Pandemic times, I'm almost exclusively doing takeout anyway, so it's all about the food! Lol. The chicken is flavourful and I like that you get a combination of soft and juicy pieces and the slightly crunchy more grilled pieces. The Chicken Shawarma Platter is $14.99 and you get rice, potatoes, salad, vegetables and lots of chicken, and a pita. The salad and vegetables were fresh. The potatoes were good, slightly crispy on outside, soft on the inside. The rice was also good. Service was courteous and efficient. I just wish they had a smaller platter for cheaper. As a preface, I love shawarma and have it every week at the very least. Tried this place out because I had a course nearby. Staff wasted no energy on bothering to be pleasant and seemed a little annoyed that we had disturbed the otherwise empty restaurant. Wifi was dangled in our face with an all caps MR SHAWARMA but if you asked for the password, they were unwilling to share. The biggest issue though was the food itself... The chicken on the shawarma itself was so dry, not even garlic sauce could save it, and it gave off a disturbingly powdery texture. The flavour (using the word flavour is being generous) was overtly bland and I really didn't make it past 5 bites before putting down my sandwich and giving up. read more

I really like this place! Not sure why it's always empty when I go, but their food is very good! I've tried the mixed shawarma platter, and that was really yummy, and HUGE! I really like Shawarma Palace, but if you're looking to avoid the huge line-up at Shawarma Palace, and wanting to try another shawarma, definitely give this place a go! This location has improved over the years. I am most impressed by the fact that you can walk in late at night and the food is still fresh and the place is clean. Many shawarma places have cold and dry meat in the off hours. This one is open until at least midnight every night and the chicken is fresh and juicy. It is also pure white breast meat, so very little fatty bits to pick out. They have TWO kinds of rice, good potatoes, veggies and other sides. The plates are huge and ONE could feed two people. Even the "small" sandwich is a good size. The decor, ambiance and music are decent too, but the biggest improvement is staff attitude. Now highly recommended! read more

I have been here several times and each time the chicken has been fresh, juicy, and delicious. They are the most reasonably priced shawarma place in town, for example you get a family combo for around $25 with tax, which includes 4 sandwiches, 4 cans of pops, and a small bowl of garlic potatoes. Their garlic potatoes are best in town. It is a little tricky to get there if you are driving, you can only get there by driving west on Baseline due to a median in between the east and west bound lanes. I stopped in here for lunch the other when business brought me back to a neighbourhood that was close to home at one point. Life's journeys bringing you away from and back to familiar places. In this case I did get an enjoyable shawarma out of the journey. The beef was nicely marinated and the vegetable toppings were very fresh looking. The restaurant itself is spacious with ample seating and quiet. The price was $5.25 which is a little higher than some. I've only been three times, and each of those visits were for their chicken shawarma salad, but I've liked what I had each of those times. I will say the large chicken salad is a much better deal than the small (for a little less than twice the price, you get much more food for your money). As this location is in an old strip mall, finding a parking spot, especially in the winter, can be difficult (unless I've been unlucky both times I was there). All in all though, I'll go back as it seems to be one of the better ones in Ottawa's west end. read more

Hands down the best shawarma in Ottawa. I have tried Shawarma Andalos, Shawarma Palace, Shawarma Prince, Shawarma King, everything! And Mr. Shawarma always comes out on top. The products are always fresh, they are always fully stocked and you can tell the chicken is fresh and not from the night before (like many places like to do). I come here every week and I have yet to be disappointed. And they fill the platter all the way to a point where they can't even close it! Its wonderful. Worth every penny. This is my favourite shawarma place in Ottawa, which is saying something as we are now according to CTV Canada's unofficial shawarma capital. I have been here on several occasions and have tried a good variety of the items on the menu. I love that their chicken is juicy and not fatty. They have fantastic hummus and garlic sauce. I especially like their spicy garlic. The staff serves up generous portions and are always friendly. Back in October, my husband and me and a couple of friends came into the restaurant fresh out of the Zombie Run for Humanity. We were still in our glorified zombie states, prosthetic makeup and all. Staff were impressed and asked if they could take our pictures. It was a true VIP experience ;) At that time we shared a dinner for four with chicken and beef. It was so good! My husband and one friend have huge appetites. Despite this, dinner for four clearly bested them. Came in on a late night.. around 11pm and after not having eaten all day, I was really looking forward to a big hefty portion of chicken shawarma. And boy did I get a hefty portion! Don't know if it was due to the starving wolf look that I was giving off, but my plastic tray was overflowing with goodness. The guy started by packing on rice and by the way it filled up the tray, I was starting to worry that there wouldn't be any room for chicken. They also have 2 different kinds of rice (the typical brown one and a yellow looking one) and different kinds of garlic sauce. Both rice were delicious but I only got the regular garlic sauce. It also came with 2 different sides of salads - the regular lettuce kind and tabouleh with hot peppers. Despite the late hour, I had the freshest salad I ever tasted! The taste of their food is good but there's a lot of downside like the servers hitting on young girls (Thursday, Friday and Saturday night)..also they often never change their gloves so you see them answering the phone, scratching their heads, cleaning and oh yeah making your sandwich. "Fantastic shawarma, except for the garlic" I had been advised to try this as an alternative to the popular Shawarma Palace. It seemed unlikely that I would find a better shawarma in Ottawa, but the hunt must always continue! This place doesn't look like anything special from the parking lot. It's packed in with a bunch of other businesses in a cramped parking lot. When you step inside, everything looks quite nice. The place is more spacious than you would think, and everything is in good shape. The cleanliness was quite good. The person serving us didn't speak English very well, but we had no problems placing our order. I had a beef sandwich, she had chicken, and we split a side of potatoes with garlic. It was quite cheap - less than $20 for both of us. The service was fast, though the restaurant wasn't very busy. The highlight of the food there is the meat. Both the chicken and the beef were so delicious and juicy. In fact, I would have to say that the meat was considerably better than what I've had at Shawarma Palace, and I eat there fairly often. It was hot, flavorful, plentiful, and so juicy. I must tip my hat to these guys, it was very good. The pita was fresh, which is very important as anyone who has had shawarma in a slightly stale pita will attest to. The veggies all looked nice and fresh. The pickled turnip is shaved thin here, but complements the sandwich nicely. The potatoes were very good, also top notch for a shawarma side. Unfortunately, the thing that holds this restaurant back is the garlic sauce. I can't quite identify what the problem is, but the garlic seems to be too sweet and not strong enough. A real shame, because otherwise this place would be at the top of my list. If the owners are reading this: fix your garlic sauce! You've nailed everything else; go all the way! Until the garlic is fixed, I recommend Shawarma Palace as the best (that I've found so far) in Ottawa. read more

This has to be the most disorganized shawarma place in the city. I've never seen so many disgruntled customers get poor service in my life. One after another, after another the crew managed to screw up every order. There was no communication whatsoever. With 3 people on the line, you would expect some sort of prep. order or at least some talking between the line so customers wouldn't have to answer the same questions over and over again from all 3 people. Finally, once the food makes it to the cash, the young woman at the counter somehow blames the customer for the poor service and lack of communication, before charging you extra for garlic you didn't already know was in the bag after you clearly stated that you didn't know it was already in the bag. We eat a lot of Shawarma- our office orders is for lunches all the time. Mr. Shawarma is OK, but the chicken is very fatty, and they don't even have pickled TURNIPS, they use cabbage. It's no where near the same. I don't know if it's because cabbage is so much cheaper, but it's not even close to turnips. They do give you big portions and the staff is VERY friendly and curteous. But really not the best pieces of chicken and pink colored cabbaage - no quality. :-( read more
