1st, the techs are personable and well-meaning, but their pricing is nothing short of bending over and grabbing the ankles cause they will f**k you if you aren't careful. Whatever the market rate for standard work, add a grand or two, and you will land on Mr. Sparky's pricing. What's terrible is I paid damn near $3K for a 75' cable run+ 50Amp circuit breaker install that took 2 of them (one an apprentice) ~5 hours to complete. My estimate is as follows: Material $900 (retail - high end) Labor ~$2100 2100/5 = $420 $420/2 = $210 per hour (for an apprentice - WTF!) The nominal rate for an electrician in Phoenix is $140/hr; the job they did should be 3-4 hours max. So, I paid ~$1,200 above the market rate. You see the math checks. They almost got me for more, but I started breaking down their quoted work while they were working and had enough. Even funnier was when I challenged the pricing for additional proposed work, the customer account manager stated, 'They only make 7% profit on their jobs.' I was stupid for a while. I would avoid this company. I had a light and fan that both stopped working in my bathroom. The technician (a supervisor) claimed I would need at least $2500 and probably over $8000 worth of work to fix my home's electrical issues. He used a lot of technical jargon and didn't explain the issue or its fix clearly. Because of the cost of the quote, I called another company (with better reviews). Their technician provided a clear explanation of what was wrong, and then fixed the issue (and two others) for $450. I am awarding Mr. Sparky a second star because everyone I spoke with was friendly and the technician came out quickly. read more

We broke a circuit breaker late afternoon and called emergency services for $300. Alex showed up an hour later took one look then needed give us a safety speech telling us our whole house could burn down unless we rewired the entire house for $33,000. This is an old house like many in the area built in the 60's. I assured him we would be ok please change the breaker. He went to his car for 30 minutes and listed 6 options for repair. We asked him to replace the breaker only. Cost another $350 for ten minutes of work. High pressure sales was not appreciated. Total cost $650 very expensive I can not recommend sparky. read more

They came out promptly, very courteous, but EXTREMELY overpriced. These guys are ripping people off. I read the many other reviews mentioning overpriced services, so I expected them to be high. To install 2 ceiling fans and replace 2 related switches, they wanted $1046!!! I immediately told them NO and found a reputable master electrician who did all the same work for $275. $275 is reasonable for this area. $1046 is just a plain ripoff. Despite the fact that they were very professional, responsive and well spoken, their employee purposefully misquoted my job and referenced work that was completely unnecessary. Their sales person (who introduced himself as a "safety officer") provided four service options ranging between $950 and $19,500 for an item that has material costs of $130 and requires less then 1 hour of labor. read more

It does not change the fact that they made the appointment (and gave us a time window) and we waited for 5 hours. Not so much as an apology. Horrible horrible business practice. I saw this company on 2 Fix It and thought i'd give them a try. I was charged $320.00 to replace a day/night photo sensor for our front lights. Here's the breakdown... $49.00 service call $89.00 diagnostic fee $199.00 no fuss price to replace the sensor (#3 on their Straightforward Pricing) They replaced the small recessed photo sensor with one that extrudes from the side of the house. Clearly it is not the same part. WTH?! I phoned Mr Sparky to log my complaint - they were very nice. As of now, the owner of the franchise will be calling me to discuss my options. I'll post an update on the results. I just believe that if you are paying over $300.00 for a little photo light sensor, you should get a similar part in return. Unbelievable. I needed to put in 400Amp service to my house, and tried these guys. Not only did they fail to contact APS, and told me they had, but then after two weeks, presented me a hastily scribed hand written note for 4x the price, and twice as long, of all the other electrical folks I presented the job to. They would not even let me keep the estimate they wanted to present to me-- I had to make a copy myself. Horrible presentation and worse, integrity is greatly lacking. I would stay very far away from these guys. On the other hand, I found GREAT SERVICE with All Amps Electric. Literally 1/4 the cost, and job done in less than 5 hours. read more

I would never use this service again, As the job was to replace the 100 amp service to a 200 amp service simple....I had to break out the concrete before he could start no big deal ,7ooo.oo dollars later, now when use my micro wave it pops the breaker ask if he could put a 20 amp breaker to replace the 15 amp. said no. then went into saying they could run a dedicated line and$$$ I said no. as I explained it was a 20 before did not matter $$ speech needless to say.. watch your tools and they snagged a 5 gal bucket full of copper and brass scraps I had saved over the year with my kid teaching him to recycle..He said dad I bet they the have a giant pile.....oh phoenix stay clear... read more

I had a stand by appointment for a certain day which gets you a cheaper trip charge. They did not show up that day and asked me to reschedule so I did. Now I understand why they charge a trip charge, it's because they are so overpriced that i'm sure that a lot of people send them away once they hear what they want to charge. It was about double what another company quoted me without charging me a trip charge. I had to pay $49 for the service guy to come to my house and show me their outrageous prices because they wouldnt give me a quote over the phone. Their price list is a no fuss one price only so I really don't understand why they couldn't give me a quote over the phone. The trucks are really nice looking though! Mr. Sparky is the first electric company that will pop up on google when looking for an electrician in the area. Keep, scrolling because this is the biggest rip off in the valley. They charge you 60 bucks just to come tell you what's wrong and then the labor on top of that. If you don't agree with the price, they still charge you the $60. It was over $200 just for them to fix my breaker, no re-wiring at all. Stupid. And the guy working spoke broken English, so there was no negotiating price. read more
