Tip: Sign up for Mr Sub rewards. You get great deals, such as buying a large sub, and getting another one for free.
Last Friday, I got a sweet deal from Mr Sub. It was valid on the weekend only. If I bought one large sub, I could get a second one of equal or lesser value for free.
It was such a great deal. I had to take advantage of it.
On Saturday, I was in the Mississauga-Etobicoke area. I did a search and found this one on Islington Avenue, near the Four Points that I used to love staying at, but isn't open for guests anymore. It ended up being used for folks isolating themselves once they landed at Pearson during the pandemic.
I tried placing my order online, but the code for this offer wouldn't take. Instead, I brought my barcode for this deal to this Mr Sub.
This location is in a small plaza. There are a few parking spots designated for Mr Sub customers and a shawarma place. I found an available parking spot and backed into it. You do have to be careful, as you don't want to back into the cement wall!
There are some steps that you need to access to get to and from this Mr Sub. It's not wheelchair accessible from this end of the plaza. I don't know if the other end of it has a ramp.
I saw a man come out of Mr Sub with his order. He then opened the door next to it. He actually lived about this store. How convenient!
I walked in. Two customers were sitting at two different tables, chatting to each other.
I got a friendly young man who was great waiting for me to look at what I wanted to order.
I got the following large subs:
- Meatball
- Seafood
Both were on mozza cheddar bread. Both had lettuce, green peppers, and white cheese.
The meatball had marinara sauce by default. It was my first time ever having a seafood sub. I added tomatoes and light mayo.
The man saw my deal's barcode earlier. He said that he didn't need to scan it, which was nice if I wanted to do this deal again. I didn't, as it was Easter weekend and I had way too much food happening.
I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done.
He asked me if I wanted a bag. I declined. Each sub was in its own paper bag. i could carry them both to my car and put them in a reusable bag.
I thanked both men in this eatery. They were nice and wished me a great day. I happily walked out with my food. I put my items in an insulated bag and drove home.
There was a rather large pothole in this plaza. I managed to avoid it upon my exiting it.
I had half of each sub for dinner. I had the remaining halves the following day.
I was a bit concerned that my seafood sub didn't have any seafood when I first opened it up. Everything was stark white. The white cheese. The light mayo. The imitation white crab meat.
I took a bite of it. It was so good. I could taste the sweetness of the fake crab meat that was oddly satisfying in a sub. The light mayo with the white cheese and veggies made this sub yummy.
The meatball is one of my favourite subs at Mr Sub. I loved the meatballs with the marinara sauce. The white cheese melted nicely with the green peppers. It hit the spot.
The subs toasted up nicely the following day. I had the seafood sub for breakfast before I went into Easter dinner cooking mode.
I had the meatball sub for dinner. I started having turkey leftovers with it, which was a nice mix.
It's a decent Mr Sub. I'd return to get more subs when I'm in the area.
