The tea and smoothie we ordered were good, but the language barrier resulted in getting sweetened tea when I asked if the sakura tea was unsweetened and tried to communicate several times that I did not want sweet. I got sweet. We were on a schedule so I didn't have time to ask for a different drink. We also asked several times if the smoothie drink is sealed but our cashier couldn't answer us. The manager (?) came to the rescue and said yes to the seal, but unfortunately even he gave me the wrong info about the Sakura tea. The stacks of boxes in the aisle leading to the restroom & walls lined with merch ads screamed "stereotypical asian tea shop" to me and I am not mad about it. For whatever reason, Newbury Street seems to be a hotspot for boba. That means plenty of competition... and I'd say this spot lands squarely in the middle. They have all the usual options and I went with the Taro Milk Tea with boba. Honestly, it was pretty average, nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either. That being said, the interior of the shop was fairly nice and modern and the location can't be beat, of course. If you're looking for a quick caffeine hit, this place will do the trick. No issues with the service, pretty standard for a tea place. Just don't expect anything overly unique or interesting. read more

Not overly sweet so although I got my drink full sweet it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It's tailored to Asian palette so not bad, although the boba was not as soft as the best places I've been to in California do it. Maybe I'm a boba snob idk. I tried the Caramel cake mlik tea 焦糖蛋糕奶茶 as it's one of the popular ones. It's interesting, I wish the caramelized sugar is less burnt and thicker. Also, the cream they put is on the top and it's hard to mix with the milk tea. The milk tea has little tea flavor. When I saw this new bubble tea spot when walking down Newbury, I couldn't help but try it. The inside was clean and nice - decent amount of sitting room which was nice to know. I grabbed my drink to go and was in and out within a few minutes - quick and easy. Service was fast and there were no issues. There are so many bubble tea spots in the area so I only recently got to try Mr. Tea. I was impressed by their menu which has a big variety of teas, smoothies, and toppings. I decided to try the soy milk cheese foam milk tea ($6). It had a very rich, creamy, almost savory flavor. The tea flavor was strong as well. Definitely not a watered down drink! Service was great. The staff were nice, and my drink was made very fast. The menu is kind of weird, I'm not sure why they have their "bubble milk tea" which is milk tea with boba priced more than if you get a "milk tea" and add boba. They rang me up for the pricier one :/ When I got the drink, the lid was cracked where it was put on. I guess it was slightly too small for the cup. That makes it not very secure, but it wasn't a problem for me since I didn't take it to go. The milk tea was oddly creamy and thick. Something felt off, and I got a headache ~half an hour after drinking it. Also the boba was a bit too chewy for my taste. I didn't have a good time, and I definitely won't be back. Sizes seem to be constrained to the drink itself, so regular milk teas are 500ml and some specialties are 700ml. Classic Bubble Milk Tea - it was interesting to see this being 5 cents more than a Classic Milk Tea with Boba added but I guess that's a convenience fee. Boba was tiny and undercooked, so firm with a small surface area, a bit strange. Milk tea was solid though, creamy with a good black tea after taste. Maybe a bit Hong Kong style as they play HK music but not a strong influence. Overall fair drink but boba was not good. read more

One of the worst boba places I have been to regarding both the drinks and the service. I got a rose oolong tea with lychee popping boba, which literally just tasted like water. The color of it did not look right at all. It was hard to like the boba either because the tea was so bad. When I told the employee that the drink tasted like water, she seemed annoyed. I ordered the caramel milk tea and my partner ordered the four seasons. The caramel milk tea was delightful and tasty! I did not expect the top to be caramelized like crème brûlée - that was definitely a nice touch. I ordered it with 25% sugar and that was perfect! My partner's drink was so refreshing and it came with fruit chunks that you can eat after. There's a 15% discount if you show your student, staff, or faculty ID. Of all the boba shops along the big and long Newbury Street, we decided to give Mr. Tea a try. When you walk in, it's almost like a dark academia library vibe with the dark wooden interior and LED fireplace. Right when you walk in, there will be a big poster board on the wall on the left with all of their drink items. Very helpful for people who usually struggle to see the TV screens at most boba shops. I had milk tea from Royal Tea earlier so I wanted something more refreshing this time. I decided to try the Blueberry Strawberry Smoothie with boba. Regardless of the long line of customers they had, the workers were very fast. They were calling out numbers as if they were counting regularly. Big shoutout and applaud to them! I got my drink fairly quickly for a blended drink, at most 3 minute wait. You could definitely taste the sourness of the blueberry and sweetness of the strawberry, as it's fresh fruit most likely blended with tea and ice. The texture of the boba is great, firm but chewy and it didn't taste like it was over soaked. I would have to try more variety here to give it 5 stars, but overall a great place to go! read more

As other reviews have stated, there's a good amount of seating and nice ambience with the music and lighting. I haven't historically enjoyed tiramisu milk teas at other boba shops but I enjoy the dessert so I decided to try Mr. Tea's version. We got the caramel tiramisu milk tea with boba, 50% sweet less ice. It was the perfect sweetness and the boba texture was good. I really liked the topping foam which had some sort of caramelized/maybe blowtorched texture on top. Not sure what it was but it was very tasty. I would definitely get this again.
