I stay about 20 min away from the restaurant. I ordered the combo lo mein WITHOUT shrimp; waitress repeated order twice. My fault I didn't check my plate before leaving to see there was shrimp all throughout it. And the fact that I had to drive all way back to get it fixed. No refund offered, just a keep the plate we messed up or take the new one. Terrible customer service & I wouldn't care to go back because the food is very bland. Taste like they just added hot water on noodles and meat, then packaged it for sell. I recommend highly 3 Delights. Same prices, waaay better food and customer service. read more

Did not have half of the food. The food that they did have was overcooked, over-salted, and barely heated up. The overall experience was unpleasant, and the fries, along over food, tasted stale. We arrived around little before 4pm and since the kitchen stopped cooking for the buffet they let us walk through and choose if we wanted to have what was left or just do table service. We chose table service and man the food was so hot and fresh I kept burning my mouth but man I could not stop eating it was so darn good. I was EXTREMELY hungry, and this was the nearest buffet I could find. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. First, the workers were VERY rude, and they didn't even bother to greet us. A rude lady walked up and told us the buffet was closed, and that we had to order off of the lousy menu. Who closes the buffet at lunch time???? HOW RUDE!! I haven't been in a while but no major complaints this time either. The fried foods were dry and the presentation was off; nothing looked appealing. My food (lo mein, garlic chicken, spicy shrimp, and chicken eggroll) was delicious. I do wish they replenished food more frequently because oftentimes you'll visit the bar and the food looks either overcooked, empty, or old. Was feeling especially carnivorous the other day so what better way to satisfy that state than with a Chinese buffet! Mr. Wang's was always a restaurant I would pass by whenever I go to Wal-Mart off of Lakeshore, but I realize now that those were several missed opportunities. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious inside with 2 and a half rows of hot foods and 1 row of desserts. Luckily, I was able to go when the food was hot and fresh (around 4:30), so I can say that I had a really great experience with the food! Several of their food options were delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at how many seafood options they had for their dinner buffet. They served fried scallops, fried crab legs, crawfish, steamed fish, etc. Definitely some more unique options that I've never had the chance of trying at a Chinese buffet! Another great thing about this location is that it felt and looked clean. I can't say that I've had the same experience at other buffets, but I didn't feel sticky or grimy after eating here. The restaurant feels homey and the owner seems to know many of his customers! The only bad thing I experienced here was that the waitress was not that attentive. This is one of the better Chinese buffets. The food is always fresh and flavorful. This is a favorite lunch spot during work group meetings. My co-workers from out of town really like this place. The service is fast and the waiters are generally friendly. The lady who is usually at the cash register during lunchtime could be a little more friendly. However it opened up for dinner in 90 minute at 4:30 PM. So we did a few more things and got to the place at 4:10 PM. They let us in, gave us a drink and asked if we could wait 10 minutes because all the food was coming out. This is the perfect time to get to Mr. Wang's. Every thing is fresh. Food: My son and I loved it. Not GREAT food but good food which exceeded our expectations. Sorry, I ate lots of dishes so saying one thing was better then the next is impossible. RUDE STAFF & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH UTTER DISRESPECT AND DISDAIN. I stopped by the restaurant tonight and it was near closing. I asked the man working the cash register how much was the buffet and he said $10 a pound. So I kept my box really light and went to the front to pay. He didn't even weigh the container. He looked at me and said $10.00. I only had a small scoop of noodles which is the only thing I wanted. I asked him was he going to weigh the container and he said no and that they charge by the box. He should have told me this from the start. I guess this was why the three guys in front of me were stocking their containers with so much food. They were actually filling their plates so quickly food was dropping on the floor and into different food containers. They were really nasty with it.. But back to the man at the register.. he was rude. He never greeted me when I walked in. He never smiled. He was not approachable. He looked as if he hated the job. His disposition was really sour. Most buffet restaurants charge their to go orders by the weight. This is the first one that will let you stuff the container apparently. So how was I suppose to know they did not weigh it? So I walked out. And this idiot took an attitude and muttered something in Chinese. What a coward. This was my first (AND LAST) time in this restaurant dealing with this moron. read more

Went there with wife and adult daughter - we used to go there a lot a few years ago and it was great. This past Sunday was bad. Only half of the steam trays were being used, so the selection was very small. Some of the food was dry and both my daughter and I got sick from the fried catfish (which tasted great by the way). This is probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. They have a sign up in their waiting area that says something similar to "it doesn't matter if you don't like it, if you put it on your plate, you still have to pay full price. It doesn't matter if you didn't eat it, if you put it in your plate, you still have to pay full price". At first I figured it was just because they may have had several people try to get over on them but no. I now am on the side of any customer saying that they did not like the food served here. I ordered take out (sesame chicken with fried rice + beef and broccoli with fried rice) and was so disappointed when I got home. The rice was stale, beef served in a soup like liquid and the sesame chicken was more like sweet and sour chicken. You couldn't pay me to eat here again. read more

Great food, great price! Prior to getting onto Yelp earlier this year (2014), I use to frequent this buffet whenever I was short on time. In short, this side of town has two main buffet restaurants, one is Mr Wang's and the other is U China Buffet. What sets Mr Wang apart is this simple fact that the owner is always present when I'm there and he's always in a great mood. In addition to this, his staff is constant and the food is great. Now I've read a few reviews where people complained about the service and food, which surprises me since its a Buffet (i.e. serve yourself). Additionally, this is not a 5 star fancy french restaurant, its a Buffet for $7-$9. If you're looking for a quick meal, low price and a nice variety, then this place is for you. We went in for lunch buffet on Sunday. While most buffet visitors are expecting like 90 entrees, Mr Wangs has about 40 for lunch. but I must say I would rather have 40ish FRESH entrees than 90 entrees that are flavorless or mushy. Lo Mein was nice and firm, not mush and had great flavor, every chicken entree was very tasty. Service is fabulous, drinks refilled immediately, very friendly and engaging owner. We didn't have a single item that was bland and that says a lot for a buffet. So the food is worth 3 -3.5 stars and the service and cleanliness is the rest. So my other half was craving some Chinese Buffet and this seem to be one of the only spots that has dinner buffet. Now first off, let me just say I have pretty high standards when it comes to Americanized Chinese cuisine as my dad use to have his own Chinese restaurant that he cooked for. With this in mind, I've yet to have any as good as what my dad cooked. There was a good variety to choose from. Casual setting and was seated quickly. The staff was friendly but not super interactive. The food was alright but it wasn't anything special. I didn't really like anything that had beef bc the beef was so thick and chewy. I did enjoy the noodles (lo mein). And the mushrooms from the garlic chicken were good. The chicken was okay but a little dry. Overall, it was okay! Good time at Mr. Wangs! Some guys I work with and myself were in the mood for some Chinese buffet, we have been to some places around, but wanted to try something new. Glad we stopped by. The restaurant was clean, everyone that worked there was busy, but friendly and helpful. The food was better than a typical buffet joint. Most of the trays were filled with food. The wonton soup didn't have any wontons in it, which was a bummer, by the silver lining is that it made me have the vegetable soup which was a pleasant spicy surprise. Not impressed. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken which is a staple of Americanized Chinese restaurants. The chicken was hard and dry. It also had pineapple in it. Who the heck puts pineapple in a Kung Pao dish. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour and needed seasoning. read more
