I couldn't wait to review the amazing experience I had yesterday with Arthur at Mr. Wellness LA. I deal with chronic stiff and sore muscles as well as neuropathy in one arm as a result of weight training and a pinched nerve. After finding Arthur's content on social media, I decided to book a 90 minute appointment. I am so glad I did. It was the most intense, intuitive, and effective sports massage I have ever had. Using what seemed to be a multitude of different techniques, Arthur was able to uncover and release parts of my body where I didn't even know I was holding tension. He has a unique ability to go deep within the tissue to encourage a release, yet somehow without causing pain. There was also a unique synergistic connection I felt with him that is difficult to articulate, but it is very clear that Arthur is uniquely gifted in his profession. At the end of the session, my muscles and joints were so relaxed I felt as if I was melting into the floor. It took me several minutes to come back from this deep and powerful experience. Arthur's studio is well-appointed, peaceful and serene. It is located within a group of businesses inside the new Salon Republic on Santa Monica boulevard. It was easy to find and parking was only 4 bucks for the 90 minutes I was there. I will be telling everyone I know about my experience and have already booked my next appointment. I met Arthur a couple of years ago via a mutual friend, and he seemed like a pretty good guy. When I found out he's a massage therapist and healer, I knew I had a problem: you see, I love to support the entrepreneurial endeavors of people I meet, but I'm also very loyal, and I already had my regular masseur from whom I get massages every few weeks. Fast forward to earlier this evening, and I'm so sore from standing on my hard tile kitchen floor baking Christmas cookies that I need a massage STAT and cannot wait until my appointment with my regular guy next week. Lo and behold, Arthur had just posted some availability on social media, and he also was promoting a new kind of massage he had just trained in, called FasciAshi massage. Now I already knew Arthur specializes in Sarga bodywork, but I'd never heard of FasciAshi. Arthur's website explains that while both Sarga and FasciAshi are similar barefoot myofascial massage techniques, Sarga bodywork utilizes fabric straps and leverage to provide a deep tissue massage, while FasciAshi includes very slow, firm strokes as well as a special focus along the para-spinal and lumbar regions to help open the inner-vertebral disc space and increase the space between the spinal discs to allow more room for the nerves to pass through without pinching. FasciAshi is short for "Myofascial Ashiatsu," which honestly is a bit of a mouthful -- I'll for sure take a cutesy nickname. A massage that will focus on my vertebrae and decompressing the spine?? SIGN ME UP!! The massage itself was like nothing I've ever experienced before -- the way Arthur applies his foot really gets in there, but it was never painful -- it almost felt like a tingling sensation when he kneaded the fascia. Other times, the combination of pressure, slow speed and course of the stroke made me feel warm, almost like a hot stone massage -- except it was his foot! Clearly FasciAshi massage is very good for promoting one's circulation! I only experienced one negative: my 90-minute massage was over far too soon! I felt like I was in heaven the whole time, and when I got up I felt looser and taller. Arthur is an incredibly talented massage therapist and healer, and I highly recommend trying his new FasciAshi massage, which isn't really being offered by anyone else in LA at the moment. Arthur also offers Swedish, Thai, Combination and other massage techniques, along with a Cupping add-on service, if that's more your thing.
