Good shawarma? Yes. Best in your life? No. Should you still try it? Absolutely! When I went, I tried both the shawarma wrap (chicken), and the shawarma platter (beef). I have to say, one of the most underrated aspects of the way they wrap shawarmas here is that they pre-mix all the toppings, sauces, and meat in a bowl prior to adding it to the bread, so that each bite you get a bit of everything. Overall, it tastes quite good and is very pleasant. In terms of taste, the plate was good too. However, I wasn't a fan of having to pay extra if I wanted some potatoes in place of some of the rice. Most places usually handle rice and potatoes interchangeably (and usually give you a portion of both to begin with). I was also definitely not a fan of a sectioned container rather than an open one, since that greatly reduces portion size, but this is something that a lot of places are doing now. Additionally, having the sauce come on the side in a half-filled container means you're getting a lot less than what you're getting at other places. All in all, food was definitely tasty and I would come back. I'd definitely opt for the wrap more than the plate, because the sheer cost of the plate really isn't justified by the amount of food you end up getting. There are a number of shawarma places I've been to recently, but I can honestly say that Mr. Zagros is the best in terms of freshness, menu options and taste. This location is fairly new and not too far from my office, so my colleagues and I often end up here for a quick lunch. I usually get the same thing every time I go, which is a Greek salad topped with chicken shawarma. I don't care for many salad dressings, so I only have the garlic sauce on top of my chicken. On my first visit there, I had asked for some hot sauce on my salad. Before I could stop her, the woman who was putting my salad together grabbed a bottle and squeezed it all over my chicken. It's important to note that there are two different types of hot sauce. One in a squeeze bottle and the other in a bin in the counter. I was looking at the one in the bin when I asked for hot sauce, as it looked really good. The one in the squeeze bottle is essentially just ketchup with chilies in it, and I absolutely HATE ketchup. So now I've got this disgusting mess all over my food. The manager offered to make me a new salad when I asked if it was ketchup in the bottle. Since that visit, I've been back many times and I've been more careful about how I order. Some of the staff are super friendly, especially the manager. He's always smiling and genuinely looks happy being there. Others not so much - one woman in particular looks like she's serving a prison sentence being there. Although I haven't tried the wraps yet, my friends have said they're really good. I like that they mix all the ingredients in a bowl first, then put it in the wrap. I'd probably have to share one, though, as they're HUGE. Plus, they make the wraps fresh with each order, so I can imagine that has a big impact on how it tastes. I highly recommend the baklava, too. I just ordered from here for the first time. The food was packaged beautifully. I like that they decided to go with bento-style plastic containers to keep things separate. I tried the chicken and beef shawarma plate which was a huge portion. It was on a bed of rice but they also included a wrap which was a nice surprise. Food came fast and fresh and the driver followed my instructions. Very happy with the service. Chicken and beef were tasty. The coleslaw is so good. Super excited to have this location open close to home. I've frequented the Cityview location often and was happy to not have to drive so far. So, we'll start with the good Portions are still big Area is spacious and clean Manager is a very welcoming, and friendly gentleman. The wrap is still good. The bad The plates at this location are just bad. It's a "big" portion that is 40% salad, 50% rice, and 10% meat. They also charge extra for hummus on the side of your plate (but you get it for free on wrap????). So if you spend less, and buy a wrap, you get the hummus for free. But if you spend more money and buy a plate, you have to pay extra for a dismal amount of hummus. The sauce provided with the plate comes in a small portion not suited for half the plate. They call the white sauce garlic (toum) but it's a watered down tzatiki. They're hot sauce is literally ketchup with pepper seeds in it, it was actually disgusting. There's one middle aged woman who prepares food that just has the most sour attitude. Did not want her to make my food at all. The wrap is not consistent. While I appreciate the fresh pita made, this leads to the pita not always being rolled properly. Sometimes the pitas are too big, and when wrapped you'll have areas where there is just thick pita in your shawarma. I've left a 2 star review for this location because I personally, will not be coming back here. If you decide to visit this location, do not spend more money opting for the plate. Go for the wrap. Although I'd recommend Euro shawarma down the street. for a less expensive, better food experience. read more
