This store is freaking awesome!!! It's like taking a step back in time. There's so many awesome collections and there's a little bit here for everyone. Movies (VHS and DVD), Music (CDs, records, cassettes), Games (board games, video games & gaming systems), as well as trading cards, comic books and tons of groovy pop culture collectibles. You never know what you'll find! They offer extremely reasonable prices on a wide variety of unique memorabilia. Mr. Zero's is one of the most interesting stores in the Twin Cities. Absolutely awful service. The guy who helped us out today must not have any idea what we were asking for. We were looking for two GameCube extensions to which he grabbed for us and we didn't really even get to look at the product that he was selling us. just went in here and sure there is a lot of stuff to look at , but the man behind the counter is rude and very unwelcoming. Didn't bother to greet me or see if I need anything when I first arrived. After checking out the cool bird and complimenting him on his bird , with attitude asked what I was looking for. I told him my husband is a huge video gamer and he seemed like it was an inconvenience for us to be in his store. My husband want to buy a few things but the man behind the counter didn't even bother to help him . The store has many signs about how they have been robbed and please buy something and if not please leave a good review. Many signs that say don't touch and if you touch you buy. Store is messy and cluttered. Hard to find anything. Can't pick up certain items to even look at them. We had money to spend and didn't because it felt like we were a bother to the man behind the counter. With the attitude and the less than accommodating isles I would not recommend this place. Stopped in to check out their vinyl selection; prices are absolutely laughable. Found a soundtrack album for $9.03 (why do their prices end in .03?) that I bought earlier in the day at the Fetus for 99 cents. They do have a few interesting things, like some a bunch of Beatles stuff, but again, who is going to pay $54 for a copy of Let It Be? They have a copy of The Wall, only $47. Just how much do you think these records are worth? The place sort of reminds me of the Android's Dungeon. They have Star Wars figurines and crap like that. Cool place with plenty of old toys, records, and movies. There isn't a lot of space but he definitely packs the room he has with "stuff." The owner seems more than willing to tell you about items and the "mailing list." Items were a little bit pricey especially for the condition but definitely a great place to take a trip back to your youth and pick up a hard to find item. read more

Where else would you be able to go to get a quick "Blast From The Past" and enjoy hunting for such great items like toys, music, magazines, books, video games, and all kinds of memorabilia??? The staff is extremely knowledgable and super-friendly and they all have "years" of experience to be able to answer all your questions! They live, eat and breathe collectibles! This place may be cool for vintage video games and toys and such, but I don't know much about that stuff and went for the records. While the selection is pretty decent, the prices are on average double and up of what you will find at any other store in town for titles of comparable condition - even on pretty common titles. There were some 45's there too but most were in a drawer not in sleeves, so even if you find a title you like, it's probably not going to play well. There are also a bunch of budget and new arrival boxes lining the floor, but I was told by the owner to not bother since everyone looks for the same records and he already took the good stuff out... You may find something you can't find elsewhere here though, just be sure to know what it's worth. read more

I was looking at some used Gamecube or N64 consoles since the Gamestop doesn't sell them offline. I don't use customer service; I just roam the videogame section. I found some NES, Master System, SNES, Genesis, N64, Playstation, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, and Gamecube games, consoles and controllers. Master System, Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games are disappearing from my area with Toyriffic Maplewood store close. I didn't give 5 stars, because used dirty cartridges are full blown retail as if in new Cartridge in Box (CIB). There are also Comic books, Vinyl- lots of it, Old Lunch Boxes, Old School toys like Star Wars or Tron, Buttons, Pins, Ataris, 8-bit Video Games, Tapes, A- Tracks, Posters, T- shirts, anime, VHS, and DVD's.They Buy, Sell and Trade stuff, but the owner sees it in person. read more

Was rude when I was there and have heard similar stories. Place is small, but does have a bunch of stuff. Be mindful that it is fairly overpriced. Bought a vintage transformer from here which upon research turned out to be a fake. Brought it back less than 12 hours later, tried to explain the situation and owner did not care. After it was apparent I wasn't going to refund my money I even asked if I could exchange it for something else since it was a fake, nope wasn't having it. Vintage toy collectors beware. read more

This place is the ginchiest! All things retro, wonderfully cheesy and most awesome are available here. I live for vintage finds, ask anyone who knows me, and Mr. Zero's is a place worth visiting--often. Rik, the owner, and I met filming a scene for a B&W, '50s-drive-in-style creature feature film by local director Christopher R. Mihm called "Attack of the Moon Zombies" (out in May 2011). Mr. Zeros is awesome. Have had so many good experiences here. I had a problem getting into the laser disk format. I found a player at a garage sale, and naturally I went to Mr zeros to expand my library. I got a few great looking laser disks, but when I got home, a couple had an issue with the sound quality. I talked to Mr. Zero about it and he allowed me to swap them out for different copies he had there at the store in order to help me trouble shoot. We found out the problem was with a setting on my player. And I was able to figure it out thanks to the great customer care and knowledgeable staff at Mr. Zeros. Thanks again! read more

I have wanted to like this store however after the owner being an absolute pompous douche bag every time I have tried to shop there, I simply decided to stop going there. the guy speaks to his customers like its a privilege for them to be there, he has customer service backwards. you literally cannot have a pleasant or even neutral interaction with this guy, so if interacting with someone with a chip on their shoulder talking down to you in an insulting tone is something you would like to avoid, then, from my personal experience, I would stay away from this place. read more

I'm ashamed to say that I won't be returning to this admittedly nice looking game store. I've been here two times, and both times were consistently... fishy to me. I went with my friends both times. The first time, one of my buddies asked about Gameboy Colors that they might've had for sale. The response we got was a 'no' along with a lecture about many game stores closing down which seemed odd. After we left, my buddy didn't feel good about being guilt tripped like that. I was optimistic with my second visit though. I asked to looked at a game I was considering buying. I ultimately said no because I didn't want to spent a lot of money since I was a struggling college graduate with not a ton of money. I felt like I was being judged and when my friend bought something, guess what? We got the same exact lecture about game stores closing! We were also told about a robbery that happened there and how they lost a lot of money's worth of inventory (even though the store still looked packed with stuff, but I digress). That sealed the deal for me that this place wants to guilt trip people into buying their stuff. I understand times are hard for us all during COVID, but when you "let out your stress" on me and my friends consistently enough throughout our visits there, that's when I say goodbye and good luck that you don't end up closed like the other stores you love to mention to us. read more

After years of looking for a rare ps2 game I talked with mr. zero and he was able to order the game into the store for me at the best price i have ever seen anywhere! It only took three days for him to get this game for me! The store has tons of awesome retro stuff from games to music to magic cards! I was finally in the neighborhood and made it to Mr. Zeros. This place is awesome! If you're into collecting vinyl records, well this is your heaven. Even though I'm not a record collector, they have tons of other stuff for everyone. Alot of collectibles, including toys, action figures, and vintage nintendo games... even 8-tracks! If Mr Zeros doesn't have it will order it for you or send you somewhere else that might .Prices are all researched for fair value . Often people can find lower price online , but not by much . Reality is this is a retail store not garage sale and expect good quality merchandise that is tested to work not broken . Extreme knowledge of products old and new . Knows every song artist band past present . Huge selection of records . Great selection of Nintento, Books and LP's!

They should consider charging a couple bucks admission to see "The State's Most Overpriced Records": I was struck dumb, flipping through almost every record in this place and rather quickly coming to the realization that nearly everything - other than some of the garbage records on the floor - was priced two, three, even four times higher than any other store in town. Eventually, I did find one desirable item that was listed, perhaps mistakenly, at a normal rate, so I snagged that and got the hell out. I left frustrated and it got me wondering how they could possibly survive. I've only come up with the provisional explanation that because it's more of a collectables store than a record store they can get away with pricing a bit higher and making up for lower volume with the occasional nostalgia driven purchase of a $10 copy of a $3 album. I get it. It's gross but I get it. Fundamentally, there are two things that really bother me when I think about my visit. First, was the greeting from the owner who, bizarrely, offered up a preemptive admission that everything was too expensive when I told him that I was just there to browse. He followed that up with a vaguely worded challenge to "find any of these records priced cheaper anywhere else". This was off-putting since I hadn't said anything to him about prices at all. Regardless, within a few minutes it became clear to me that I could cite specific examples of records priced at a fraction of what he was charging at other stores I'd visited that week. I didn't bother with any of that but it was certainly one of the stranger interactions I've had as a consumer. Secondly (remember I had two things), it was frustrating to look through what actually is a decent selection of vinyl and realize that it's mostly going to sit there. Please don't be the sucker that strolls in and shells out $25 for some record like Rumors* that you could probably find lying on the ground if you went for a walk around town. To be fair, I did glance at some of the other merchandise and it seemed to be priced in a high but not totally unreasonable manner - more in line with the way these sorts of stores typically operate. So this may very well be an ok place to shop for things other than records. *that example is made up but not too far from the truth. Don't believe me, stop in, flip through the Dylan records and marvel at the state's only $25 copy of Knocked Out Loaded. read more
