Throughout the process he was ARGUMENTATIVE, UNCOMMUNICATIVE and often blamed his workers for errors but made no effort to correct the errors unless we specifically asked for corrections. He WALKED OFF THE JOB in October, leaving a partially completed kitchen, and then demanded nearly full payment for a job he didn't finish. Every subsequent contractor we've had in to assess the remaining job has remarked on the POOR QUALITY of his workmanship. We are still finding mistakes that need to be fixed (electric outlet pulled out of the wall, toe kick board in wrong spot). If you want a well-done remodel, DO NOT HIRE.

Vince from Var came in and gave me an estimate and lickety-split they were making an appointment to fix my poor house's problems! Leaky roof is no longer leaking and my kitchen sink drains like a dream. They did a fantastic job on the plaster repair, which included putting up drywall and chairrailing and wainscoting (at least I think that is what it's called. . it's the square boxes made with thin wood pieces). Whatever it is called it looks awesome. The workers involved me in all decisions regarding the details so the final outcome would be exactly what I wanted. My only regret is that I decided to do the painting myself. For the time I spent on painting, I should have just had Var Construction do it for me (silly girl). They were prompt, NEAT, and very nice. The estimate included removing the flooring, installing new flooring, paint, brick work, etc. Months went by before we heard from them! We asked for a contract which was promised and eventually provided after many requests. After asking for some minor changes to the contract R. Volpe sent us a note saying his schedule was to busy and they could not start our job. That was on 3/12/2024, 16 months after sending the estimate! I try to be understanding, things don't always go as planned and there are many factors that contribute to a successful outcome but 16 months with hardly any communication is poor business practice. R. Volpe Builders may be good craftsman but their business communication and follow up is wholly inadequate! Thomas W.
