I wasn't sure what to expect at first because when I looked through the previous reviews, some were very negative and from a couple years back or during covid so I felt that the experience may not be the same as before. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the actual experience was better than expected! I am giving 5 stars because of the location, the ambience, and the price. Considering that it's in the heart of town, has parking, and we don't need to drive, this worked perfectly for our 5-day stay. The Christmas decor was very cute and the whole building was warm inside. Previous reviews stated that the rooms would be too cold in the winter and that the noise was too distracting for other lodgers. But I found this not to be as extreme as people say! The outside temperature was between 26-35 degrees yet the comforter on the bed was more than enough (it actually got a bit too warm sometimes). We didn't even need to use any extra blankets but there were 3 in the room, provided by management. There were also earplugs provided which we didn't need to use at all. Granted, you can hear some people come in at night, going up the stairs but other than that, it was pretty quiet. I will say that the experience may be different per room. Ours had its own bathroom (not shared) so our stay was warm, comfy, cozy, and private! read more

We arrive on scene at 4pm (check-in) no one is there to help and someone else's is in the same situation. It's...ok. The building is old, the furniture is old, everything is old. It is clean, and it does grow on you after a while. It can be noisy, and you will hear it when anyone in the building walks anywhere. The stairs are ridiculously steep and very narrow. Getting up the stairs with luggage is a fitness challenge. And if you are of "generous proportions", forget the second floor. There is NO service at all. It's run like an air B&B, all on line. No desk clerk, no towels or sheets, no maids, nothing. We tried several times to call someone, never got through. Really annoying. The location is excellent though, quick walk to everywhere. I'll bet it's very noisy in the summer with the bar next door. At 500 a night, it was definitely not worth the money, but it was Christmas, and the town was pretty full. I don't think I would stay here again. read more

I strongly recommend not staying here. If you don't get your email with your room number and code to get the key there is no way to get help from the phone number they give for Help. 2 other couples along with us could not get into our rooms. Fortunately we all booked through our bank travel agents but it took 2 hours for each of us to finally get our codes with their help. Without them we would have never gotten in. Then our room had double doors opening to the balcony. It was too cold to go out but we checked to make sure it was locked. It had just a door knob lock and chain. The next morning we found the door open to the end of the chain letting in cold air and anyone could have come across the shared balcony abd come in our room. My partner is in construction and said the problem is the hinges connected to the door frame and there was nothing we could do about it. So our room was not secured the whole visit and there is no one around or to call for help. No one ever answers the phone number posted everywhere for help. It's also an old building so showers are hot the cold as people flush toilets or use water in the other rooms. We talked to several other guests who had that issue along with heat not being on often and when it was on it was cold in some rooms and toasting in others.​ read more

After calls and emails I was finally able to contact someone. I cancelled my booking, but later found out I was still charged. Nice place to stay but, as the others have also stated, no A/C. Windows do not open but we had a fan and put it in the doorway to cool the room before we went to bed. Every allergists nightmare! This building is very old with very thin walls. When you arrive there's no one there to greet you or help you with anything. The room looked fine at first but then my allergies were going crazy! The mattress is very uncomfortable as are the pillows. Lying on the bed for 30 mins I broke out into hives! The room was SO hot even with the vent closed. We slept with the fan on but it didn't do much. We also heard the ppl next door as if we were in the same room. This person was snoring so loud I've never heard anything like this in my life. I didn't get any sleep that night. read more

This was the worst night sleep I've ever had at a hotel. Bed was hard, room was hot, smelled like dog pee, and the walls were extremely thin. Couldn't sleep until two am. You could hear every conversation, music playing, and beds rocking. We also had an extremely hard time with self check in. We spent almost an hour waiting to get in. They didn't send us the email instructions and the customer service phone line was awful. They kept saying they'd send us the instructions and they didn't. I stayed in room #2 on 7/5/21. Room was small, spartan, clean. Sink in main room. Toilet and shower in a very small closet-like space. No AC. external window is sealed shut and a door opens onto the street, so there is no way to have external air flow. There is a pedestal fan that you can point directly at the bed for airflow on a hot night. Mattress was fine. Pillows were solid foam. There were no other amenities worth noting about the room or the lodging. There is a thin internal door that accesses the adjacent room. The unattended dog in the adjacent room barked everytime I made any noise. COVID Contactless checkin: There are no on-site humans. I was assigned a parking space, but another car occupied the space. I called and texted the phone number provided in the welcome email. No response after multiple tries. The voice mail says "in an emergency, send us a text" -- the lack of response does not give a guest comfort. read more

We stayed in room #2. Small room with tiny shower and toilet in closet with LOUD fan. I had to open shower door for room to shave leg. The room was hot and stuffy all day/night with just a small pedestal fan. First glance it appears clean. But everything above about 5ft is covered in thick dust. The table outside had what looked like dried BBQ sauce all over the top and chair paint is peeling and stuck to our clothes. We slept on top of bedding because when we turned it down there were dark smudges. The one power box by bed with USBs didn't work and looked broken. I mentioned all this to staff the next day when they were back to clean, and just got a blank stare in response. Smallest tv I've ever seen. The door to adjoining room has large gap on bottom(we covered with rolled blanket) and the walls are THIN. We could hear everything in rooms around us and the people above us obviously had young kids. We had showed up the day of checkin early (around 2:30pm) and called to see if room was ready and pay the early check in fee. Was told she'd check with onsite staff and call back... they never called back. We ended up driving around looking for parking and used gas station bathroom until check in. The big positive is the location. It was super convenient to everything downtown. And the room did have some cute decor. But unfortunately would not stay there again. read more

Although you get what you pay for, Mrs Anderson's more than disappoints. The room was SO hot there was no way to cool down enough to sleep comfortably. If that had been the only issue then it would try them again in cooler months. On top of the lack of air conditioning in our room the bed had a soft center that had my husband and I rolling into each other all night. I thought I was getting bit by mosquitos while asleep but it turned out to be flee bites. We were in a non pet room but obviously there has been cross contamination in their rooms. While taking a shower there was little wiggle room between a freezing cold shower and lukewarm one until towards the end of my shower when scalding hot water started pouring. There is just not much that can be done to come back from such a horrible experience. read more

First off, Yelp lists this as a Bed and Breakfast which it is decidedly NOT. We come to Leavenworth every year for my daughter's birthday and stay in a different place every year. I chose Mrs. Anderson's mostly because of the location, which is ideal. It's just a block from the center of all of the shops and restaurants downtown. We had stayed in a motel farther out last year and the long walk was not fun. We came to town early and decided to locate the motel and where to park. That was a trip in itself. If I hadn't read previous reviews I would never have found the spaces around back in the one way entry to the alley behind. This motel, or boarding house whatever you want to call it, has a check in procedure that is so impersonal it was a little unnerving to us. You receive an email with instructions on how to get your key out of a lockbox. If there are problems you can call a phone number but there is no one physically there to help you, which became a problem later when we discovered there was no remote to the TV (which the person on the other end of the helpline assured me they would look in to first thing in the morning - after we checked out). So we got the key and found our room. My daughter thought it was cute. I just saw a room with old un-refinished wood floors (which by the way gave me a sliver) and old linoleum on the bathroom floor. The room was very warm when we walked in from the cold and rain which was welcome then; not so much in the middle of the night. I was baking. Apparently they keep the temps at 72 degrees which is a good 8 or 10 degrees above what I'm used to and there was no way to lower the temperature. On the website I learned they supply fans to make it cooler (wow). There was no closet, only a clothes hangar system with flimsy but cute homemade hangars. There was a microwave and a refrigerator which incidentally made a buzzing noise all night and in the morning my food box leftover from our dinner was soaked from something leaking. The Keurig coffee maker malfunctioned making either a 1/4 cup of coffee or it overflowed the cup. I took a shower under a spray that was at first ice cold then later warmed up fine only to turn boiling hot when, I assume, someone in a nearby room turned on their cold water. The beds were hard as were the pillows and I heard every noise, from our neighbors next door to every car that drove by especially the snow plows that drove by at 6 a.m. Needless to say we will not be staying here next year. read more

Stayed here once, years ago, but looking at the photos on the website, I don't think much has changed. Mrs. Anderson's Lodging House is a quaint, simple B&B. I stayed with a group of women (there was 5 of us), so we had one of the larger rooms ("In The Trees"?) with a private bath and it was big and comfortable enough for all of us. Its an easy walk to the village area, but isn't on a main street so noise shouldn't bother you. All the rooms & common areas are carefully adorned by antiques. I remember there being a selection of board games to play, but it was so many years ago, I just cannot go into too much detail of what else the common rooms had to offer. There is also a yarn & fabric store on site. Breakfast is served every morning, and that is a nice touch, too. The only real down fall is no pool. Although I prefer a few other places in Leavenworth (that give off a more hotel feeling), I would stay at Mrs. Anderson's again for sure... ESPECIALLY if I needed a room with multiple beads, or I was staying alone. The prices for a lone traveler or (the opposite) a person needing many beds the prices cannot be beat! read more

Booked room for 3 nights a couple of weeks prior to s major snow storm that hit the area and closed the only two access roads between Seattle and Leavenworth, making it impossible to get there. I called hotel and they acknowledged road closures however said I was unable to cancel and only could reschedule. I was told that once rescheduled, I would be able to cancel booking as the system would not allow a cancellation. WHAT?! Anyways, I went along with it and tried calling back to cancel and was not allowed to modify any reservation without speaking to person who made reservation. WHAT?! Every time I called after this point I was unable to speak with that person, what a surprise. I was able to leave voicemails and send emails, but not once did I get response. The final time I called was when I voiced my frustrations to the front desk and they just mocked me and told me too bad, I should be more careful about making reservations. I will, and will never go there and warn others of doing the same. My advice, pay double if you have to but go somewhere else. read more

The only good thing about this place was its location. The room was gross, I cleaned up some spilled water from less than a square foot, and the towel came up disgusting. I put a towel over the door and it also was dirty. The water in the shower was finicky at best. There sounded like a clicking or dripping sound inside the wall. The walls were so thin we heard ALL of our neighbors' sounds. There shouldn't be mentioned quiet hours because nobody respects them and the owner doesn't care. I texted because of a late night party in the lobby and they didn't even reply. I thought the room was was on the cheaper side because of its age, I didn't realize I would be staying in a hostel. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for. If you're a college student looking for a budget room to come back to after drinking without high standards, this is your place. Otherwise, shell out the extra money and find somewhere you can actually get a decent night of rest. read more

What an amazing stay for our family of 8! Because of our family size we reserved the house that they have nearby. Rustic but really nice and very well equipped for a medium sized family like ours. Full sized fridge, dishwasher, full stove, microwave , kurig with k cups both decaf and regular, two bedrooms, pull out bed, couches, dining room with large family dinner table. Wifi speed very acceptable 97mbps. Very close to downtown, easy walk. If you book the house the parking available to you is very large (we drive a 15 passenger van). We were concerned because the details we were emailed the morning said "compact only" with available nearby paid parking (bummer). But once we arrived we saw that it was actually more of a small driveway...more than enough space. The spaces for the rest of the property were smallish, but i saw several suvs and midsize vehicles parked with no issue. I think they are just warning that it's snug and if you fit you'll be pleasantly surprised. There is a Safeway grocery nearby, so we bought groceries and came back and had a great family meal before heading downtown for the Christmas lights. Beautiful. Once my family entered the residence we immediately decided to make this an annual trip! Although the location was great the room was OK. Had central heat so you could not adjust your room temperature. They did provide free standing fan but the ones in our room wore so dirty that if we would have used them our allergies would have been bad. Prior to our arrival I tried to contact the hotel multiple times with no response. They could really have better communication with their guest. I decided I wanted to check out Leavenworth and called around to all kinds of places to discover it is VERY hard to get a room for the Christmas festivities. Mrs. Anderson's had a room I was able to book same day and they were incredibly accommodating of the fact that I wouldn't arrive until late at night. It was harder to get into the location than I expected. We arrived around midnight and it was freezing and icy. Even with the door code, it took a fair amount of time for me and my friend to figure out our way into the lobby. I also didn't realize the lockbox code was different than the door code, so we stood around for awhile testing all kinds of numbers on it. They offered a map in the box, which I thought was strange, but then came to realize that our room was not inside the house, but out on the porch. I attribute a lot of our confusion to working all day and driving 5 hours. I'm sure under normal circumstances, their directions are easy to follow. The room decor was very bed & breakfast style. Since they own a quilting shop, the bed had a nice quilt. We also ended up pulling out the extra blankets from the bureau. The wall adornments were dresses from the mid-1900s. I thought it was cute and unique. The bathroom is very long and thin, but didn't pose a problem. As others have mentioned, this is a religious hotel. There are a number of books in the room that are centered on prayer and spirituality. They also had some guides for Leavenworth. The location is unbeatable. It was one street back from the main street, which I thought was perfect. Easy to get to, but with much less foot traffic. If you decide to stay here, I'd recommend bringing your own pillow. I'd also skip the provided breakfast (bagels/toast/cereal). Overall, I'm happy with my decision to stay here. read more

Do not even attempt to stay here! We booked through booking.com that was our first mistake. There booking system is online ONLY and you cannot speak to someone. I book a month in advance and has it all ready to go. I even checked it the morning we departed and it said booking confirmed and good to go. We drove 4 1/2 hours to get to Leavenworth. We finally got into town walked to the hotel and there was no one there to check in. No one would answer any of the numbers given to us. There was my husband and I as well as another family who were also having trouble with their booking and could not get ahold of anyone. We finally got ahold of someone through text and repeatedly asked for her to call me. She kept giving me excuses on not being able to call me yet. After an hour of waiting in the heat trying to figure out what happen to our booking. We were then told our room was booked by someone else now!!!! We still asked her to call and she wouldn't call me. After waiting for her and getting no help and calling around to other hotels majority of them are fully booked for the weekend. Thank goodness we found an amazing hotel with breakfast included and they deliver it to your room for the same price we were going to pay oh and the new hotel we ended up finding also has a pool and golf! I seriously have never been so upset over a place. This was supposed to be a long relaxing wedding anniversary weekend together. This hotel is trash and I will NEVER recommend to anyone. Two years ago we enjoyed this same room 9, a tiny room barely able to fit the queen bed, but nice little quiet honest spiritual focus alcove, well stocked, lively breakfast nook, and on site, attentive staff. The little room was under $100 the single night, and at 70+ we were in town center with little walking. We wanted to see the Fall Colors in Leavenworth so we found this had two nights at $300 and booked, assuming the same good experience. Nope. First we tried to cancel a week before as was the policy before, but met a silent stone wall instead of any response. We found a facbook page for the Mrs Anderson's and I sent a message about our need to cancel. Promptly a lady responded saying she had to sell the hotel due to her husband's passing a year earlier. So we came here. I was not aware of the new owners' closing the little spiritual alcove, closing the hotel guest community breakfast nook, and far worse, vacating the office if all staff!! The place is clean, but the steep stairs, shared bath upstairs, lack of common courtesy attendant - owner's wife was leaving when we arrived at 1 PM, and husband was golfing in the rain! - made us decide to look elsewhere on routine visits to Leavenworth. I think this place is great, honestly. If you want the softest bed in all the land, maybe it's not for you but it's not a big deal to sleep on a firm bed for a day or two. It's actually probably even good for your back. Quick lodging/stay summary: this place seems to hold some religious values, good on them if that's what they're into! There are bibles in the rooms and verses/passages painted on the walls. Can be a little awkwwward if you're not religious but it's not a total bonerkill. Clearly it's a family run lodging sitch, so it feels like home. Someone clearly likes quilting so it feels like you walk into a quilting store. That's not a bad thing. They treat it like home and invite you in to stay in what 'feels' like a home. That's what the German aesthetic is all about anyway, versus a motel 6. So prepare for that. The main entrance requires a punch-in code. So you're free to go about your night as you please and your room is awaiting you with no bother into the night. Quick room summary: my boyfriend and I stayed in room 9. This is what you get: a patio to sit in wooden chairs and drink coffee in the mornings with a view of the snow capped mountain *cute!* (no smoking allowed), a bathroom with a shower (no bath) -- the water pressure and warmth is great, tv with very minimal channels but an option to log into Netflix if you have an account, coffee/tea maker. The most important part about the room is that it feels cozy and homey, though it's a little small. However, It does not feel like a motel room and it requires you to be quite cozy with your lover as well :-) I feel like everything we got was worth the price and it was great. Thanks for the stay. Absolutely horrendous customer service. We were booked for 1 night and due to government mandate and military restrictions we needed to cancel. The only credit they would give us is to stay another night in 2020... their is 1 month left in 2020 and we're currently in lock down. Especially shocked when they wouldn't honor that 2 of our guests are military and wouldn't let us get a refund or at least book a night in January instead. It is what it is. It's clean, safe, and warm. It's also very old. Not the charming-historical type of old, just the tired-type of old. Showers were warm, not hot. Breakfast was cold, not warm. (Unless, you consider a bagel a warm breakfast). Indeed, there were mannequins in vintage dresses on the walls, of our room which seemed "ghostly". I guess I was expecting a cozier experience. In the winter, the town rolled up about 6:30pm during the week, so we spent much more time in the room than expected. Proprietors were friendly. Just don't expect the usual B&B experience. read more

Excellent stay! A very self-sufficient inn. Had a great room and balcony facing downtown. The room was the "Moose" room and had a fridge, a microwave, TV, bathroom, etc. Super, super comfortable bedding and quiet. The only thing that we could find fault with was the lack of AC (It was in the 90's during our visit). Mrs. Anderson's does provide a large fan with remote control so it was quite helpful. I can understand people who are older may have a tough time with the non-presence of staff and the entire electronic check-in, otherwise, we found it charming and a bargain! read more

Much what was said before, I agree with. No human contact. Information on website and what is reality don't mesh. Breakfast? No breakfast? Pets? No pets? You'll find out the answers to these questions when you arrive. Try to sleep with a residents barking dogs yapping from 9-12am as she went out and left them and no recourse because again, no human contact. This is basically a glorified hostel. Security was iffy with no one checking ID when you arrive, which on their email they said they did. When we left, the housekeeper just told us to leave the key in the door. I took a picture of it in the door just in case. When we went out to breakfast Sunday morning, the front door was ajar as someone didn't check to make sure it was closed properly. I should have realized that my attempts to have questions answered for the 10 days prior to arrival that went unheeded was a clue to cancel. Did I mention that the door to our room was so loose and warped that we could see the lights from the hallway and ditto on the Keurig not working properly. Leavenworth was OK but has transitioned into younger crowd and families who are walking around with their dogs and Mason jars full of beer. I was hoping for more of the quaint Bavarian Village I remembered. We survived and it was an experience to remember.
