Thanks for ruining a major part of my honeymoon MS Dixie! We paid for a Dinner cruise for the first night of our honeymoon months in advance. Received the confirmation and everything. We drove 400 miles, skipping sites we wanted to see (like Yosemite) just so we could make it to our 6 pm cruise. We arrive and there is no one to be found. We asked the girls at the jet ski rental window if we would be able to check-in for our cruise there... the girls told us that the MS Dixie doesn't run on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. They also couldn't tell us how we could get a refund. They stated "we don't work for the MS Dixie and you aren't the first people to have this issue with them." What in the actual eff. Not to mention we were dressed up for the cruise. Apparently there is also no nice restaurants in the nearby area. How come we didn't get an email or phone call saying our reservation was cancelled? Will we get a refund of our $300? Who knows. read more

I'm sure the cruise would be worth the money, but I'm terribly angry with how they try to pull a fast one over on everyone. I rounded a few people up to make reservations to find out this is not the price. The embarrassment when a group of people look at me and said "so we have to pay double what you said". When I inquired about it on the phone, they said there was nothing they can do, it was an old flyer. However old the flyer is, they should be updating their flyer because that's the current brochure circulating in the heart of South Lake Tahoe to all the current tourist and it's false advertisement! read more

BEWARE!! This is a scam in half the cases. We booked the Brunch cruise a month in advance for a Tuesday at 11 AM. We planned out trip to SLT around this tour and the night before the tour got an email claiming we cancelled the tour but when we checked, they don't even offer tours on Tuesday. We still haven't heard back from customer service and no sign of a refund. The tour itself might be good, given the other positive reviews but this is some shady practice. I will be filing a claim with my credit company and also reporting them to better business bureau if I don't get ~$300 back which we spent on the tickets. read more

Booked this a week ago to secure our things to do in stateline/tahoe visit from Reno. So glad we did! We parked at Harrah's casino and picked up the bus/shuttle that took us to zephyr cove resort. Boarded the paddle boat and walked around to familiarize ourselves. Decided to get a drink at the bar, beer, wine, specialty drinks for $11, and a nice liquor selection. Shortly after we decided to get nachos and chicken tenders. Kind of expensive but it was decent food. Made our way to the gift shop and hubby bought a t shirt. Went up top as we were arriving into emerald bay and it is just gorgeous. The views are spectacular and the weather was great. Took lots of pictures and made our way to the back of the boat upon leaving emerald bay and stumbled on the designated smoking section. We are smokers and decided to have one but the folks sitting a row behind the sign in red were clearly not happy. Idk what to say. If it was no smoking, we wouldn't have smoked, all I can say is don't sit near the smoking section if you're going to sigh, roll your eyes, and cough like it's so bothersome to you. Save your a time and money - skip it. Dinner and a cruise on beautiful Lake Tahoe sounds great right? Sadly it falls short. Our experience start d with waiting on the dock in the hot sun for a half hour after getting dropped off by the tour bus. No place to sit and no shade. The food was bad and the "band" was two guys who were ok at best. Two stars instead of zero because of the beautiful scenery and helpful friendly staff. My wife and I enjoyed the scenic day tour on the MS Dixie II. It departs from Zephyr Cove where parking is a nightmare and it costs $8 to park. If you want to avoid this and are staying in town they'll pick you up for free. The closest pick-up for me was at Heavenly Village. The shuttle picks you up right on Lake Tahoe Blvd in front of the Gondolas. It then stopped at a few hotels on the way to Zephyr Cove to pick up more people. The cruise is 2.5 hours long and it goes across the lake to Emerald Bay before heading back. Reviews say it's "boring and overpriced" but my wife and I really enjoyed it... but, I admit I'm a boring guy and it doesn't take much to entertain me. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. There was snacks and drinks of both the alcoholic and non alcoholic kind for sale. The ship is multiple decks but I recommend you sit on the top deck which is open air. Just make sure you wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect from the sun. It's high elevation so you'll burn easy. They also have a dinner cruise but my wife and I just wanted to enjoy the scenery and eat at a restaurant when we got back. What's crazy is the Tahoe Queen was docked next to the MS Dixie II for repairs. The next day the Tahoe Queen burst into flames and caused major damage! read more

An afternoon cruise was part of our travel package on our vacation, so I can't say what a typical ticket would cost. While we enjoyed the scenery and a cocktail, I think I would have enjoyed it more had it not been so crowded. We couldn't find a comfortable place on the top level so we went inside and found a table with some of our tour group. Most of the narration was interesting but then they ended with what looked like an old VHS tape about underwater explorations of the lake. It looked really dated and not the sharpest. We also skipped the photo opp when you board since we don't need to pay for a souvenir photo. It was a nice way to see the lake but I don't think I'd do this again. read more

This was our first time on the MS Dixie. We went on Friday, June 4. I was very surprised to see so many people aboard the ship. It was packed! Since we are emerging from a global pandemic, I thought this cruise would take more precautions to keep people safe. Lower the number of people aboard, separate tables in the dining areas, etc. Encourage mask wearing perhaps (even if Nevada's mask mandate is lifted)!? NOPE! The woman at the ticket counter said masks are not required. I have three kids, so my husband and I set a good example by wearing our masks. There were very few people wearing a mask when we were on the cruise. The ship was very full even indoors where food and drinks were served. Folks were not keeping distance and I could see if people are not vaccinated they could get Covid easily aboard the ship. The outdoor seats were all taken by the time we boarded the boat. My husband and I are fully vaccinated, but it concerns me to see so many people not taking precautions to stay safe and healthy. It would be interesting to see through contact tracing how many people got Covid aboard this cruise during the pandemic. Super spreader activity is an understatement. The folks running this cruise are only concerned about making money. *After reading previous Yelp reviews, it looks as though this has been going on for awhile! read more

Relaxing tour of lake tahoe and emerald bay. My family enjoyed the time we spent on the cruise

It's a great experience! The crew is great and food was delicious! We had a fantastic time out on the deck.

We have gone on the dinner dancing cruise for decades in my family. The price has increased significantly so we don't go yearly but these last 2 years we did since we had guests with us that had never been before. The employees were great! Allowed us to use a wheelchair for my 93 dad, assisted where they could and served us delicious food. The captain charted us through very high winds and waves that felt like we were in the ocean. Crew did a great job! First part of the evening was great! Then we went upstairs to the Shac and Mac duo and were expecting some great live dance music. We got more of them talking and stalling than we got music. We were there to dance not listen to them reminisce between themselves and play a concert with music we couldn't dance to? What happened to the dancing part of the evening? We were very disappointed in their dance music. It was anything but dance music. Sure end with "Tequila" and call it all good but check the dance floor. Maybe 3-4 songs were danceable. We won't be back for a while, hopefully they perform more danceable music for the crowd to engage in and not just a duo show to listen to themselves sing and play. Do they really need to do that if they've been playing together for decades? Just let us dance. read more

This is a last in class organization. Their reservation agent is a complete joke and grossly under qualified for the position she currently works. We booked a cruise to Emerald Bay for two. We showed up at Ski Run Marina as per her instructions, and we were 30 minutes early (12:40) for an expected departure at 1:10. While we were waiting at the pier in the scorching sun, it comes to mind that the reservation agent NEVER told us we were going to take a bus / shuttle at 1:10... So while we were looking for a boat at 1.10, the BUS / Shuttle came and left with out us while we were frying on the pier. By the way, there are zero signs or personnel to represent ZephyrCove at any point while we were walking to the pier. What a complete joke of an organization. Add to the fact there is ZERO reference a bus / shuttle departing at 1:10 on the confirmation email. Clearly, there is too much "stupid" employed by this company to trust them with my life on a boat. Of course, when we called at 1:30...asking the same booking agent, "where is the boat that we were told to arrive and board at 1:10 ? The POS reservation agent said, "you were supposed to take the bus." And by the way, she said, "we are not refunding your money". So buyer beware.... Beautiful experience but way too crowded for covid. I was under the impression that it was reduced capacity. Not sure exactly how reduced... Views and experience and dining and history and everything is great. I just wish there had been fewer passengers and a chance to physically distance. WOW! Just wow. This was a spur of the moment idea. Wanted to kill some time and what better way to do that than taking a cruise on the lake on a beautiful day. The kids had a blast and thought the boat was super cool. There is plenty of seats inside or on the upper deck to take in all the gorgeous sights. This was during winter right after a storm so there was lots of snow on the mountain tops. About 30 minutes into the cruise we decided to head down stairs to check out their lunch menu. We ended up with fish and chips and the kids got A cheese burger and PB&J. The food was sooo good everything was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was super nice and the food didn't take long at all. They do have a gift shop on board if you want to buy a souvenir of your cruise. We ended up with a Dixie cruise magnet which was super cute Cruise lasted about 2 hrs which was perfect during the cruise there is a recording about the boat and some Tahoe history surrounding the lake. we will definitely be back. We want to try this during the summer Oh and if you have AAA you get a discount on your tickets to board which is awesome read more

Disappointing, crowded, boring and overpriced. I was taking my mom to Lake Tahoe and decided to look on Viator for tours or other fun things to do. I figured that this day cruise would be perfect, since it would allow us to see parts of Emerald Bay that we can't get to by car. The ticket price was a little high ($55 each) but I figured it must be a really GREAT cruise for that price! The night before the cruise, I decided to check out Yelp to see past reviews. I got a little nervous when I saw the 1 and 2 star reviews, but figured maybe those reviewers were just too picky. After all, there were quite a few 4 and 5 star reviews, so it couldn't be THAT bad, right? We arrived to Zephyr Cove around 11:25am on Tuesday 9/27, paid $9 for parking, and then discovered the LONG line of people waiting to board. Could the boat even hold that many people? It was a pleasant day, so we got to enjoy the crisp, fresh air and admire the clear water as we slowly boarded the ship. I noticed that the majority of the boarders were senior citizens, but figured that'd be perfect for my mom! I knew we didn't want the top deck (too much sun and wind) so we quickly entered the first floor, where there were a bunch of tables and chairs. Little did I know that there was a 2nd floor with a similar setup, but seemed to have better air circulation. By the time I realized that, the 2nd floor was already full. My mom pointed out that the window glass is "blurry," but we figured it was probably double paned or something. Because the ship was so crowded, we could not change to other seats to hopefully get a clearer window. The first half hour, maybe hour, were enjoyable. You got to see beautiful views of blue water, tall trees, blue skies, wow! But it's impossible to take good pictures inside, due to the windows. But when we'd venture outside, it would get very crowded (and very cold and windy!). So the majority of the cruise was sitting at a very crowded table, staring at blue water. I know, there are worse problems in the world, but you'd think for $55 a ticket, it'd be a little more impressive! Occasionally a voice would come on the speakers to explain the history of Lake Tahoe, or how Emerald Bay got its name, but it was impossible to hear everything that was said because some people either didn't realize a presentation was going on (and kept talking loudly), or they just didn't care. So you'd hear a few words here and there, and then it'd be over. A few times I was tempted to shush the loud talkers, but then realized it was impossible that an entire crowded boat of people would immediately refrain from talking once a not-very-loud presentation started. A few kids running and screaming nearby didn't help either. So we continued to sit for the next two hours. Our entire table looked bored. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we came with some friends who we haven't seen in years. Then you could just talk and pass time. But then again, you could do that in a coffee shop for free. Couldn't reply to emails or Snapchat because reception was either shoddy or non-existent (you'd think they could put Wi-Fi on board in 2016, right?). Other tables ordered meals to pass the time (the french fries did look appealing). Eventually my mom pulled out her phone and started playing her Frozen FreeFall game, after commenting "Too boring." When we finally arrived back at Zephyr Cove (late, since they left late, due to SO MANY PEOPLE boarding), we couldn't wait to get off the boat. BUT, since you have three levels of people exiting ONE exit, it was SLOW. Cattle call. As we were slowly walking out, my mom asked me how much we paid for this boat ride. She figured maybe $15-20 tops. Even then, it'd still be a bit pricey. But to know that we paid $100 for the both of us (with a Viator coupon) for such a boring cruise was tough to swallow. Perhaps our experience would be vastly different if we had gone when there were less people. We might have been able to 1) Hear the intercom and information given, 2) Been able to walk around and sit at other tables with different views, and 3) Been able to go outside and enjoy the scenery without fighting crowds out there. But given how everyone was crammed in like sardines during our visit, it made for a pretty miserable trip. This cruise might be good for those who are immobile, but if you're not, you're better off driving to Vikingsholm, parking in the lot ($9-10 parking), and doing the 1-mile hike down to the castle and beach area. From there, you get the same great views AND you can actually go and touch the water! You can also take the optional $10 Vikingsholm tour (I'll write about that later). Never again. read more

Went on the 11 AM cruise in late Aug / early Sept, and for the most part I think this was a good experience. It's primarily a sightseeing cruise to Emerald Bay and back, total trip time is about 2 hours. Tickets for the cruise are $65, lunch or drinks are extra once you're on the boat (and seemed a little overpriced). There is an evening cruise as well, but the tickets are almost $100 per person. There's some kind of pre recorded narrative of the history of Lake Tahoe and other stuff, but I really didn't care much for that, I just enjoyed being on the water more. The line to get on the boat starts about 30 minutes PRIOR the boat taking off, but don't feel like you are missing out if you're not the first in the line, since I was on the back end of the line myself but still got all the pictures I wanted. If you're on the first ride (11AM), I recommend going to the LEFT side of the boat (when first boarding), since that side will be in the SHADE when going towards Emerald Bay. Someone in a previous review mentioned that they over pack the boat with people, however, on my tour it wasn't too bad (but still ALOT of people in general). My biggest tip is to not worry about missing out on pictures, especially on the ride towards Emerald Bay. The boat takes the EXACT same path to and from Emerald Bay (straight line there and back), and in my experience, everyone was running around crazy the whole first half of trip, trying to squeeze next to people and get pictures, but once we arrived at Emerald Bay, everyone just stopped caring and either sat down, went inside to eat, or get drinks at the bar. I do want to make a note that it's cool that you can see the water go from deep blue to greenish once you're at Emerald Bay. IMO, it's actually better taking pictures at the second half of the trip, since the back of the boat on the top deck is clear of any obstructions (like the loading path hanging in the front). However, I do feel like the tour should be updated so that the boat does take a DIFFERENT path back, just so that you get to see some other sights and maximize your time on the lake. The main negatives from me is the price, ESPECIALLY during the summer months when the mountains are all covered in smoke / haze. I don't know if they increase the ticket prices even more during the winter or spring months (which is when I'd recommend you doing this, just because of how beautiful the mountains would be with snow on them), but I'd feel good about paying $50 per ticket during those times, and right around $35 per ticket during the summer. Also, taking a different route back would be an update I'd like to see to the tour. Finally, the parking IS NOT free (smh, really...?). I understand "touristy" areas do this all the time, but come on, you should have a parking pass included WITH your ticket if you're going on the ride. I highly recommend wearing sun screen, and bring a light hoodie (or jacket, hat, and gloves in the winter time). All in all, since I enjoy being out on the water so much, I still had a great time. It's very relaxing, and you do get to see Lake Tahoe from a different vantage point than just driving around the lake in your car. read more

(Dinner Cruise Review for June) We had a lovely experience! It helped that I'd read reviews before hand and knew that it wasn't "dinner cruise" in the sense of a "Royal Caribbean dinner cruise" so we went into it with more realistic expectations. Here are a few tips: Get first dinner seating when you reserve, BRING A BLANKET AND/OR TAKE A COAT!, wear jeans and a long sleeve if you are prone to be chilly- most people are not super dressy, get there early around 5pm, get in line as soon as you check in (this way you'll be first-in and will get a window seat), the dinner is good but not exactly what you'd expect from a min expensive "fancy" dinner, drinks are strong, when you get into Emerald Bay there is a "castle" called Vikingsholm which is neat to see- read into the history before you go, once you go up to the second and third decks... wrap up in your blanket and move around to get different sights and views. You'll want to be at the back of the boat on the third or second deck when on the way home near 8:30ish for the sunset views. (We drove there and paid $15 for parking but it was nice to be able to zip out of there when the cruise was over rather than waiting for the shuttle. We didn't sit in the second floor deck room with the band but we could hear it from the third deck and they sounded great!) read more

My family dined here on a Sunday evening. It was $64 per person. There was live band on the second deck. The dinner is served on the first deck. For dinner, you can choose either steak, salmon, fried chicken or some vegetable pasta. Each entree comes with a salad, bread and dessert. I got the rib eye steak. It was just okay. It was drenched in brown gravy to mask the low quality meat. The salad was okay. The cheesecake is definitely a Costco type cake. After dinner, most people went up the third deck to see the nice view of Emerald Bay while some people stayed on the second deck for the live band. The band was quite good and the dance floor is full. The whole thing took 3 hours. They also charged us $10 for parking. You can take a shuttle if you are staying in one of the major hotels nearby. Went on the dinner cruise to emerald bay with the extended family while they were in town. We got the tickets about a week in advance and the tables are first come first serve in the dining room and you can save seats for larger families that sit together. Other sits fill up in the tables that sit about 10 total. The cruise goes from 6 to 9, but the boat starts lining up and loading up at 5:15. The parking is 10 dollars and not the best, and the shuttle is worse although free and took the people in our party over and hour to go just a few miles down the road from the casinos. An uber would have been a much easier option. Once you get seated they take the drink orders, coffee, tea and soft drinks are including and more drinks are available like wine, beer, rum runners etc. For August 2018 the salad was a small greens salad with White balsamic dressing and drizzle balsamic. It has 2 slices of tomatoes and 1 slice of mozzarella. They have butter rolls and wheat and I think potato rolls. For the main corse you have 4 options. Honey drizzled fried chicken that's 1 small breast, 1 leg, 1 wing, and a thigh, that comes with broccolini and mash potatoes with a white gravy. The chicken had no real honey taste but the people in our party liked it. The second option is a ribeye steak that was about 10oz. Although people mentioned it was only about 1/2 thick and hard to call a true ribeye, but the cook was good and the pepper corn gravy wasn't anything special but a nice touch. The sides were the broccolini again and a loaded potato gratin which was more like a chunky mash potatoes with a nice crunch cheesy crust. The third option was a salmon with butter lemon that was about 5oz that came out medium with an interesting polenta with some chunks of sweet peppers and some herbed oiled veggie medley. I got this but wished I went the forth option. It was slightly over cooked. The did let me get ranch to dip it in lol I am terrible I know. The forth option was a red wine tomato sauce pasta with tons of veggies. This looked sooo good and had a ton of veggies on it, no one at our table ordered it so I didn't get to take a picture :(. The desert was a lovely slice of rich creamy cheese cake that was probably the best part of the meal. I was quite surprised how good it was even though there was no gram cracker crust but had a nice little drizzle of raspberry sauce. The cruise it's self was pretty cool, there were a lot of people yet the boat didn't seem to crowed. There was two decks that you could view the emerald bay from. They tell you some nifty facts about the lake and the widows tea house that is in the middle of the bay. I love this beach area and often enjoy swimming about a mile each way to the island and climbing up to the tea house. They have kayaks you can rent during the day if you want to go to it as well and a small museum that also belonged to the widow. The bay also goes down about 800ft. I don't know if these facts were mentioned in the cruise, I just know them from going to this part of the lake for 25 plus years. They also had a band and take photos at the beginning of the cruise that you can buy in a cute little frames. Over all it's a pretty cool little cruise if you've never seen much of the lake. I think it's a little pricey at 100 bucks a head (and there is free champagne when you get on) The staff was quick and speedy at Brining out the dishes and clearing they flip the tables pretty quick. There is also a small gift shop with Lake Tahoe nicknacks and clothing for the ms Dixie swag. read more

Positives: The boat was awesome and the scenery was incredible. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly. The big negative: COVID mitigation was absolutely unenforced. A huge number of guests were unmasked, both inside and out. There were no signs telling people to wear masks and nobody enforcing it--I saw a man walk right up to the bartender and order/receive a drink without a mask on. Though the boat was certainly not booked, there was no regulation on where guests were standing/sitting. It was a beautiful Tahoe day, so I understand why everyone wanted to be outside, but 90 percent of the people were all on the top deck. No masks, no social distancing? Recipe for disaster. In normal times I would 100 percent recommend the M.S. Dixie, but our two hours in the time of COVID were spent on edge. read more

The cruise itself was amazing. Server was friendly, band was entertaining. I am pretty furious though that I spent 260 dollars on for what was like cafeteria style steak, potatoes and broccolini. Absolutely no flavor or seasoning, the steak itself was beyond overcooked. (I ordered medium rare as did my husband-- mind you I've worked food service for almost 15 years). Mine was soooo well done it made me queasy. The texture was horrendous. (The whole table actually ordered medium rare- 4 people and no one got a medium rare.) I asked for a remake and within literally 10 seconds they brought a "new one".... So apparently they just mass pre make the steaks, my guess is boil them, sear and then keep on a steamer tray, so no wonder the texture and quality was horrendous. I give it a try and cut into it.... Something I've never seen before happens. Half the steak is medium, the other half is well done AGAIN. Once again I attempt to just eat it and I just can't. The texture was enough to make me gag and give up. My husbands was blood rare and sitting in its juices almost over flowing the plate. The "peppercorn sauce" came out in different colors per plate. My husband even was sick from this later on. Long story short, do the cruise but not the dinner. read more

We had a great time. The views are just breathtaking. It can get kind of cold on the decks so bring a coat. There is lots of sitting areas on all three decks including in door seating with tables on the lower and middle decks. They have a bar on the second level inside where they also serve food. We had nachos and they were delicious. The food prices were really reasonable too. There's a gift shop on the second level by the bar. They take your picture before you board and will bring you the prints to purchase if you want to. Only complaint was that there were a lot of guests not wearing masks and I felt like the staff wasn't doing a good job at enforcing it. Also there tables were way to close for proper social distancing. The staff however were very friendly. read more

The M.S. Dixie departs from Zephyr Cove and I was staying at the Marriott Timber Lodge. The shuttle to Zephyr Cove picked me up in front of the Patagonia store which is steps from Timber Lodge and made three stops before arriving at Zephyr Cove. If you choose to drive to Zephyr Cove, you'll be socked with a $8.00 fee for parking. The boat is a paddle boat and has three levels and can carry up to 400 passengers. I chose to stay on the upper deck for the fresh air, soaked up the sun and enjoyed the great views of the lake. The automated narration was interesting and educational about the history of Lake Tahoe and the M.S. Dixie II. The M.S. Dixie traveled to Emerald bay and took around two hours round trip. The cruise is a great way to see the lake and unwind for a few hours and recommend the M.S. Dixie II if you've never visited her. read more

I had reservations for 23 people to go on the MS Dixie dinner cruise for my wedding reception and I got a call saying they had to cancel me...when I asked why, the guy was unsure and told me that I'd get a call back the next day for an explanation but thought it could have to do with maintenance. I got a call today from the actual resort and they said someone else had called in and booked the entire ship and they needed to cancel my reservation because of that... I had sent out my wedding invitations already, booked a venue and multiple people from out of town had booked their rooms in Tahoe already for my wedding, and now I'm left with no reception and need to change my entire wedding. This is not right for people who had set reservations and paid already for someone else to just swoop it out from under me. That is HORRIBLE business. read more

Went on the dinner cruise on a Thursday evening which was very nice! The band was awesome & the view was breath taking (we even got to see a bear swimming in the lake!!!) We had the 7:30pm dinner- it was just mediocre food. The only thing is they should have had 2 upstairs bartenders because the one who was there was very slow but the drinks were good. Photos were taken while getting on the boat. Kinda expensive for 4 photos ($43) but we went for it because of the experience. I do recommend the boat ride if your looking for something to do while in Tahoe. read more

We were fortunate to be in South Lake Tahoe on one of the two remaining available sailings in October--at least according to the schedule published online! I scheduled online and ended up going through a third party--Viator. DON'T--phone directly to make your reservation. They never confirmed my reservation nor did they let the boat know we were coming. It all worked out, but caused stress. Boarding, we had a picture taken and received a complimentary glass of champagne. A gorgeous sunset, a glass of wine, and we set sail. Dinner was fantastic! I New York steak, potatoes au gratin, asparagus kicked off with a dinner salad and ended with a generous slice of chocolate mousse. After dinner, back upstairs for some delightful music and dancing. Went on the 2:30pm boat last Thursday. Air quality wasn't the best from the fires, and it was dark and rainy for portions. Not the clearest/most picturesque, but we still enjoyed our time! We were going to use the shuttle service but the pick up area seemed a little vague, so we drove. Parking was $12, there was a sign that said 'reserved parking only', but just show the person at the gate your confirmation for boat tickets and you can park there. We arrived around 1:20pm and checked in at the window, they just needed our last name. There were already about 30-40 people in line at this point. Boarding started at 2pm. We didn't have any trouble getting a seat on top, but I'd highly recommend getting there early so you don't have to stress! Cocktails were $10 and very tasty. We didn't have any food. Bring a jacket, it was hot when we left and very windy on the water. Many guests purchased sweatshirts and a lot of outside seating opened up quickly once we got going on the water. read more

The boat departs from Zephyr Cove in Nevada (a lovely spot in its own right) and makes its way to Emerald Bay -- one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places in the world! It then returns you to the point of departure. During the cruise, you can take in the sights and sounds of Lake Tahoe while listening to the captain offer some wonderful knowledge of the area. Meanwhile, you can enjoy refreshments from the restaurants or from the gift shop. If you've ever wanted to visit the Vikingsholm castle at Emerald Bay without taking the hike down to the lake level, then this is a great way to do it! The MS Dixie II takes passengers surprisingly close to the shore as well as the iconic ruins of the tea house located on the island in the bay. For such a nominal cost, this is a must-do trip! You won't regret it! It is one of the best ways to experience Lake Tahoe and, along with the Heavenly Gondola, something that every visitor should experience at least once. read more

I had a great great time, the view is awesome awesome, and they also have some instructions and explanation playing during the trip They have a on board restaurant and bar. The food is just ok, but it was still great that you can enjoy the food and the view at the same time I tried fish chip and chicken figure.
