We had the most exhilarating trip to Tahoe & this cabin was one of the best parts! Close to town, but not in town. Super clean, incredibly peaceful & quiet. The staff was very helpful & friendly. Scenery was stunning & we had the most amazing time. We enjoyed short walks to the beach each morning & they have a little store, ice cream shop, coffee shop & restaurant. You can also rent all the fun water stuff like paddle boards, kayaks & boat trips. I've always wanted to stay at one of the cabins at Camp Richardson, we're so glad we decided to stay here! This was exactly what we were looking for. It was perfect. The lodge has a large sitting area with a lovely fireplace & leather couches. So rustic & serene. Can't wait to go back!

9/6/24 FYI, wild geese. Just like being back in Alameda, CA. lol.

Good to be back in the old neighborhood. We used to bike here from the house whenever we got a chance. All the kids used to love it, maybe because we always stopped and got ice cream. If you know, you know. And of course, my review is biased as we have SO many great memories here. Here are a few more websites to study: https://camprichardsonresort.com/ https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/ltbmu/recarea/?recid=11780 Quality/Quantity - This trip, we only made it to Pope beach. Yes, we are all getting older... Well some of us more than others since I still feel (and act) like I am in my twenties! Dining options - The Grove, general store, and of course, the ice cream parlor! Atmosphere - Amenities include: Public restrooms (don't expect much), marina, parasailing, boat rentals, jet ski rentals, kayak and paddle board rentals, lodging, entertainment, events, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, bike rentals (we have our own), swimming, etc. Service - N/A, always self-service. Well, the ice cream parlor is good, but there is usually a long line. Price - N/A. Owner Comments - Congrats on your success since 1875. 1967 - Thank you to the Richardson Family for converting this back to government land for all to enjoy.

We stayed at the RV Village in spot #40. We were here for a week, 4 nights in #40 and 3 in spot #16 and we absolutely loved it! We were here celebrating our anniversary since we were married in Lake Tahoe many years ago. Camp Richardson offered so many things with the general store, ice cream parlor, bike rentals, The Grove restaurant and marina! Thank you for such a great time, great campground and beautiful bike trails!

Had a mostly great camping experience. Decent bathrooms, water and shower for those that fancy showering while camping... I booked my reservation through reservation.gov I received my receipt and confirmation email which showed a check in time of 5p.m and a check out time of 5p.m the following day... because of that I showed up a little after 5p.m on 09/05/25. On 09/06 at 12:50p.m. I was asked if I extended my stay to which I replied, "no my confirmation for checkout says 5p.m" I packed up promptly and left by 12:55p.m. I went to the check in area to show staff my email confirmation and he stated he'd never seen that and suggested I go to the office. I went to the front office expecting some sort of resolution and nothing was done other than telling me I was welcome to hang out around town which obviously didn't need permission to do. Had I known check in was at noon, I would had arrived much earlier, especially if I knew I'd had to leave the campsite hours before what my confirmation showed. This reduced my stay by 9 hours. I showed my confirmation email to the front desk staff and a young gentleman took a photo of my screen. I was told by the front desk staff that there are multiple third parties that are use for booking, which I understand and I communicated they need to contact all third parties to ensure this doesn't happen again. Both staff members stated they'd never seen this before (incorrect check in and out hours). There should have been another resolution: a reduction in what I paid or a comped future stay. Unfortunately nothing was done... but I did receive a, "sorry the inconvenience" nice but it certainly could have been handled differently.

My wife and I could not do the hike to the Vikingsholm castle so we chartered the tour and cruise out their through Camp Richardson. Captain Jack was awesome and made the trip to and back enjoyable. the tour itself was awesome, and we were grateful to be able to tour one of California's historic treasures.

    Kris R.

We did the Vikingsholm cruise and tour! We simply couldn't make the walk up and down and thought the cost of a boat ride would be too expensive. I found this tour and was pleasantly surprised at the cost compared to other boat rides where you just toured the lake! This was reasonably priced and we weren't just a number on a boat full of people. Our boat had 8 people and the captain. Captain Jack! He was great!! Gave us wonderful info on the way to the bay and back, he was funny, courteous, and super knowledgeable! There was time to enjoy the bay (about an hour) walking around between drop off, tour, and pick up. If you cannot make that hike, do this boat ride!!

Campground is a short bike ride away from this view

I had never stayed at the lodge before, but several of my friends have and could not recommend it enough. We had a ground floor two-queen bed room. Everything about this hotel speaks luxury. The room was spacious and had all of the comforts you could ever want: soft, plush beds, a large bathroom with ample vanity space, large walk-in shower, and massive bathtub. The grounds of the hotel are absolutely breathtaking and we enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the beach watching the sunset over Lake Tahoe. I love that they offer fun activities such as board games and s'mores around the fire. They offer morning, yoga classes by the lake as well as lawn games like cornhole. The pool looked wonderful, although we did not partake. This is definitely a spot you would want to come if you were celebrating a wedding or an anniversary. The outside walk to the pool is the equivalent to those found in less expensive motels. The promise of a private beach for Landing guests is very misleading. Use of it required ticketed entry. But the hit of our stay was the restaurant. Their cuisine was as good as any restaurant we've been to. Their chef produced absolutely outstanding menu choices and presentations. The waiter crew were friendly and professional with special consideration to Clay who made our evening meal choices memorable. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. We want to thank everyone at The Landing for a perfect trip! We can't wait to do it again!

Between the many complimentary amenities and thoughtful touches, I felt the premium price was well worth it. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Alec at the front desk. He immediately offered us water, champagne, or apple juice, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He was kind, personable, and genuinely enthusiastic as he shared everything the Hyatt has to offer. His excitement was contagious, and he made a wonderful first impression. The bell service was also excellent. They quickly unloaded our luggage upon arrival and made both check-in and check-out seamless. It was another thoughtful convenience that helped set the tone for a relaxing stay. We chose a first-floor room with a patio that opened directly to the pool area, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made. It made going back and forth between the room and the pool incredibly easy, especially with children. Some of our favorite amenities and thoughtful touches included: The Hyatt provides cloth wristbands that serve as your room key, giving you access to your room, the pool, and other resort areas. This was one of our favorite features! We never had to worry about carrying a key card, and the wristbands stayed on comfortably throughout showers and swimming. Water refill stations are conveniently located throughout the resort. The casino is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Lockers stocked with towels are located outside of the hotel for easy access when leaving for the beach. There are a couple of beautiful beaches just across the street, only a 2-3 minute walk away. The concierge service was outstanding. I can't remember the young man's name, but he helped us on Tuesday, August 4. If management knows who was working that day, please extend our sincere thanks. He explained the complimentary kayaking, directed us to the beach, and arranged shuttle transportation. His customer service was exceptional. Although the Hyatt beach is temporarily closed for construction, the resort has arranged access to nearby private beaches for guests. They also run a shuttle every few minutes, making it very easy to get around. If you're looking for a livelier atmosphere, the public beach is only a short drive away. The pools were wonderful. The main pool is heated to approximately 80-85°F and features a fun cave area. There's also a kiddie pool, plus separate hot tubs for adults and children. Poolside service was an added bonus. Every evening from 5:00-10:00 p.m., the resort provides complimentary s'mores kits that can be enjoyed in a fire pit near the pool area. This was such a fun family activity and one of those little touches that made the stay feel extra special. The café opens at 6:30 a.m., and if you order regular brewed coffee, you receive complimentary refills until 10:00 p.m. that evening, a great perk for coffee lovers. The only area that fell short for us was the food. Most of what we ordered was fairly heavy and greasy. To be fair, there is a Cyclospora outbreak in the US, so we chose not to order fresh salads, fruits, or vegetables out of an abundance of caution, which limited our options. The main restaurant "cutthroat saloon" had live music which made dinner enjoyable. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby, however, and we didn't get the opportunity to try Osteria Sierra, which may have been a better dining choice. My only other criticism involves one interaction with room service. After providing my room number, I asked if I could order room service, and the employee replied, "Well, that's why you called, didn't you?" It came across as unnecessarily sarcastic and unwelcoming. It was an isolated interaction, but it stood out because every other staff member we encountered was warm, friendly, and professional. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The resort itself is beautiful, the amenities are outstanding, and the customer service especially from Alec at the front desk, the concierge, and the bell staff was exceptional. AVOID UNIT 3 MANAGED BY GRAND WELCOME. Walls and carpet are dirty, the oven and internet/wifi did not work upon arrival - it took two days to fix them and another two days to get bathmats. We made two contacts over four days about mice in the unit before help arrived. I spent too much of my vacation time cleaning what should have been done before we arrived. No one is maintaining this unit.
