We were planning to go to a different place on Monday night, but it was closed so we headed towards another restaurant in New Paltz. After we parked we saw Sideshow on the way and decided to check out the menu. It sounded very intriguing so we decided to go there instead. My only complaint is that I really wanted one of their specials, the Smoked Turkey Salad Sandwich, but they were sold out. I was very disappointed as I was really looking forward to the smoked Gouda, but I can't hold the fact that it was really popular against them. Instead I settled on the Golden Goddess Grilled Chicken Wrap and the Jalapeno Corn Chowder as a starter. I think the chowder was missing a little something flavor wise (not sure what), but it had a nice kick to it and I was satisfied with it overall. Loved the cornbread on the side. The sandwich was great and the crispy potato skin fries were hot, fresh and delicious. The rest of my family inhaled the smoked chicken wings with the Jalapeno Mango glaze as a starter. They must have been good as I barely got a taste. For a main course my other half had the Sliced Steak Sandwich and my kids chose the Sideshow Burger (with a side salad) and the Spicy Shrimp Orecchiette (pasta) special. My son wasn't crazy about the special sauce on the burger, but otherwise everyone was happy. Two of us had enough left overs for our lunch the next day. I was really happy with the size of the starters as they were a great addition to the meal, but not overly filling where you couldn't eat your main entree. The inside of the restaurant was smaller than I expected, but it had a pleasant atmosphere. I was happy about the fact that although they had TVs playing the World Cup in the background the TVs didn't overwhelm the space. We did notice the employees had to bring new supplies/food in through the front door to take to the kitchen repeatedly while we were there. They don't appear to have access directly into the kitchen from outside, which is a little odd. A limitation in the design I suppose. Our waitress was very friendly and pleasant. We ended our meal with a delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Strudel. We will definitely be back again. read more

This place is cute and has a dog friendly patio with a dog menu! The service we had was stellar. Our waiter was super kind and ensured we had a great experience. This is the kind of service that makes patrons return. The food was plentiful and actually really tasty. The drinks were strong and good as well. The potatoes were the star and the chopped brisket was more shredded but slapped! Thank you to our server I think your name started with a K and you had a chew can in your back pocket. The food was average, and while the restaurant was busy, the service was not the best. However, what happened afterward is the real issue. Our server, Grace O., as shown on our receipt, took our order and served us, but after we received our food, she never came back to check on us. We actually had to ask another server for drinks. She never returned to our table after that. My brother left a tip on the credit card receipt, and he ALSO left a $10 cash tip. After we left, the tip amount entered into the system was apparently changed without his knowledge, consent, or permission. On Sunday, my brother noticed the discrepancy while checking his bank account. He compared the bank transaction to the actual receipt he had kept and discovered that the amount did not match. We contacted the restaurant Monday morning. The woman who answered the phone told us the manager would not be in until later and that we would receive a call back. We never received that call. During the conversation, she also stated that sometimes waitresses make mistakes when entering tips. Given the circumstances, that explanation was extremely concerning to us, especially when the amount on the receipt and the amount ultimately charged were different. After informing her that we intended to file a police report, she then said she would personally contact the owner. At that point, we went to the Village Police Department and filed a report regarding the incident, and we also contacted our banks to make them aware of what happened. This wasn't simply a matter of a few extra dollars. Because the unauthorized additional amount was taken from my brother's account, it left his account short and caused his rent payment to be rejected. If you choose to dine here, PLEASE protect yourself. Check your receipt against your bank statement afterward. If you're leaving a cash tip, clearly indicate that on the receipt, or consider paying cash. I am sharing this so other customers are aware and take the time to check their transactions. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend being extremely cautious when dining here. This situation has been reported to the police and our banks, and we will allow them to handle the matter from here. read more

I have never been here and I'm so glad we came! We tried to go to bacchus but they were backed up in the kitchen for about 45 mins. This place wasn't open when I was a student so we wanted to check it out. The drinks were strong, prices fair, and the food was good! I had one of the salads which you could add mahi mahi too. Spacious and cool outdoor space and nice indoor area with a nice dark sports ambiance setting. Everything is new and clean. A lot of big TVs for sports viewing while eating. Staff and server were pleasant and welcoming. Smoked chicken wings were very good. Wish more fat was rendered off though. House fries were excellent. Fresh and tasty. Angus burger was very good but for the price a little undersized. Ribs were good and decent size. House salad was tiny. Cole slaw not that good, needs some work. Corn bread was excellent. The three house sauces were okay. Prices were a little high which is okay but portions could be larger. And some healthier options on the menu would be nice addition. BEWARE IF YOU HAVE A GLUTEN ALLERGY or CELIAC. The menu labels items as GF (e.g., potato skins, wings) but cooks them in a fryer which is also used for gluten-containing foods. I explained that while the ingredients might, in origin, be gluten free, once they are put into a non-GF dedicated fryer, that dish now contains gluten; therefore, their menu is both misleading and can result in people getting extremely sick (or if a life-threatening allergy, death). The restaurant had NO concept of cross-contamination so we went elsewhere. This lack of education regarding food preparation and medical conditions is both negligent and inexcusable. read more

The food was spectacular and unique, with a variety of flavors and sauces. The outside porch was a wonderful option, especially being dog friendly. The only thing that really was not spectacular was the speed of the service. I went to this restaurant three times in two weeks, always on the porch, with three different servers. Each time, I was left after the first round of drinks for 15-20 min. Was it because I was a table of one? One time, the restaurant was definitely busy with a party, but the other two times, there was hardly anyone there. That slow service will definitely impact whether I will return. read more

we've been to sideshow three times now and each time has been a hit! all of the food we've tried so far has been excellent (my favorite so far is probably the chicken tacos honestly) and the service is exceptional. we love the outdoor patio seating (which is dog friendly!) but the inside is nice as well. 10/10 recommend. read more

We come up from Long Island often and we were excited for this place to open. We went twice this weekend. Everything seemed fairly priced and the Cheetos cheese curds are freaking amazing. The main meals we very good and well prepared. Don't expect large portions. We didn't and it was fine. The 20 minute wait for seating was actually about 50 minutes. No explanation. We've been to this place twice. I like the decor and the outdoor patio area will be nice in the good weather. Our bartender, Bailey, was terrific. She's friendly, pleasant and observant. Great job! The price on beer is a bit much for New Paltz- $5.00 for a Coors light. I ordered brisket tacos and they were the greasiest tacos I've ever had. I think I went through 8 napkins.
