We have been coming here for years now and still enjoy ourselves each time. We met a couple of friends here for dinner yesterday. As always, everyone was friendly. We sat at the bar waiting for the other couple and ordered a martini and a beer. Our bartender was Anna, whom we've known for quite some time who greeted us with a big smile and asked about how we've been while she poured out drinks. We were seated at our table and our server Maddie came to the table to greet us. She was also warm, all smiles and it felt very welcoming. Even the owner stopped to say hello. This is one of our favorite local spots. It can get busy so it's nice they allow reservations but it also never seems overcrowded or rushed. Try the burger, everything is good but these are the best burgers I've had up here. The view is great, staff is fantastic and well worth trying ! read more

So I took my family of three here tonight Nov 2025 and we sat down at 6pm. They came right out and brought our drinks and took our complete order for an appetizer and our dinner. We waited a little over a 45 min for them to come out and tell us they dropped our ticket and didn't put our order in. The manager Ronin bought us two drinks for the delay. We then waited another 45 min and the food still didn't come out AFTER Ronin told us we will get it out right away. Three other people sat down ordered and got their food before ours. We decided to get up and leave after an hour and a half. Then as we were leaving, I told Ronin that we waited over an hour and a half and he rolled his eyes and didn't say a word. Horrible service! It was our first time going there and DEFINITELY will be our last. We live in town and will let others know of our experience there. read more

I want to love this place so much. It's a good location, the staff there are incredibly nice, and the food is tasty and appropriately priced. My biggest quibble is with the amount of plastic involved in a meal. Do I like bread and butter or olive oil as a part of a dining experience? Sure! Do I want the butter and olive oil served in disposable, plastic solo small containers? Never. Who wants to be mashing their food into a small plastic cup before putting it into their bodies? I don't know. I understand it make things like pre-packing ketch and whatnot "easier" from the restaurant perspective, but it makes the dining experience less than what it should be (and there's probably not a health upside to this strategy for us as individuals or the planet). read more

Nice, weathered spot on the Marlboro main drag. Had the 8oz. burger with blue cheese and shrooms, side onion rings. The only critique is I would've melted the cheese on the burger while it cooked on the grill. Nice view of the surroundings from the dining room. Service was solid. Go check out the Raccoon Saloon in Marlboro NY. I did because of the 'hype' over their burgers. Now it's my turn to 'hype'. Everything I've heard is true! What a fantastic burger I had! Cooked perfectly, and tasted even better. Choose your add ons, and it's yours. And one of the cool things is their homemade ketchup with every burger. Awesome! (Commercial ketchup is available too). Great staff is right on top of things even when it's busy. Our waitress/server made me the best Appletini Martini! I had it while waiting for our food and half way through it I wanted to cancel the food and have a few more of those!lol It was so good that I thanked the bartender, and he didn't even make it (remember me?) All kidding aside, it's a great , casual atmosphere kicked up a little, with great food and great food choices. Sorry for only two pictures. Ambiance takes a lead in my review, is an old saloon old saloon old restaurant-saloon, the music was made for my 70s and 80s disco ears, the restaurant seats at the edge of the cliff overlooking a water fall right there with the Hudson River in the background. Do you need more information? I WILL GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION, our waitress Ana, was professional, elegant, you can tell she is a believer because she wears a beautiful little crucifix, that gave me comfort in this day an age, back to business: the mussels in white wine were delicious, the fresh Bread came with a little container of olive oil. The hamburger was great, the "odd couple" a name for a dish of shrimp and chicken with rice over vegetables is really good too. My husband's liver pâté was awesomeness and even the lemonade was so delicious. While we keep enjoying the view we are having coffee and dessert also writing this with that smile of satisfaction that comes from your tummy pass through your heart and gets to make you look like a good person. read more

so much good!!!! but some important feedback!! last time I was here was probably 15 years ago. the burger was great then; an it was great today. our servers was Claire, super nice, welcoming and a competent server. she's awesome! our view was beautiful too. we sat out on the small deck with distant views of the river. lovely. every condiment costs extra. (except the house ketchup, which I will get to later) they had a "garlic Mayo" as a $1.00 add on, sautéed onions $1.50, cheese, $1.00 the garlic Mayo was not garlic Mayo. it was not Mayo as a matter of fact. it was the cloyingly sweet disgusting miracle whip, that had no garlic flavor at all. it's sucks. back to the house ketchup- it was whst I remember the most vividly from my visit 15 years ago. It was a savory/sweet/bold spicy sauce. I remember it had a warm spice, like clove in it. whst we received today tasted like pure sugar. red saucy sugar. no flavor, no depth, no tanginess. it was awful and nothing like I remember... our burgers were thick juicy and flavorful with a wonderful crust. hand cut fries tasted more like frozen French fries to me; but they were decent. the burger meat ac tastes beefy and meaty- like how burgers used to taste. *please make a real garlic Mayo, and *please revamp your house ketchup. This place was okay, the view I would absolutely get 5 stars the food on the other hand despite what seems like a fairly simple menu honestly felt like cafeteria food. This was a random stop, as I had been in Marlboro and figured lunch would be great so based on reviews I decided why not. Walking in its an older looking place, by no means is this a high class spot, definitely the kind of place families have frequented for quite some time and continue to come over loyalty to a local hub. The hostess was the waitress and seated us. Took our drinks and showed us the actual sign board that had the specials on it. The menu was only 2 pages so not this huge thing to think about. Calamari was decided upon to start up lunch on this cold winter day followed up with a bowl of chili. and an open face turkey sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The calamari was good, the portion felt small compared to the price but it was well cooked, didn't taste of grease and was satisfying. Then as you can see in the pictures of the bowl of chili it was covered in melted cheese but flavor wise it was decent. Nothing I would order again, I covered it in hot sauce and added fries to the side as it was in need of bread/crackers/rice something. The open face turkey was a huge NO. it reminded me of middle school lunch, the turkey slices tasted of frozen to my palate so I was not impressed. All in all cost wise it was fair, if I ever go back I will order their famous burger and possibly amend this but for now, unless you have some fond memory of it, A-Ok is the best I can say, 3/5 Stars. read more

If you haven't gone here on your way through Marlboro NY, then you are missing out. This is an old favorite of mine from our motorcycle trips through the area. My girlfriend and I have just recently gone here while touring the wine trail and it is forever unchanged, quaint, and excellent! The building is historic, the food and staff are incredible, the views from the back balcony are beautiful, and location is perfect. A must go! It will become a stop you make whenever you are nearby. read more

Heard about this place from a little local winery so decided to stop in. It's on a pretty busy road (Rt. 9W) so, if you don't park right in front, use caution crossing the street. It's got decent decor and amazing views. I'm sure it looks even better when there's actual greenery on the trees. We'd been told to try the burgers, so we did. They were very good. Cooked to perfection and completely delicious. This is definitely worth visiting . We also ended up here again for dinner (that's a whole other story) but we got some ravioli dish in a cream sauce with shrimp. It was divine. I think that overall, this is a great place, not just for burgers but for any meal. read more

I liked the name and heard they made great burgers so since we were passing right by it at lunchtime my wife and I stopped in. Atmosphere is pleasant and the greeter and waitress were extremely nice. The view out the back window is pretty cool. The fries and onion rings were really good. The only problem was the burgers were well done and dry when we asked for medium. Onion rings were the kind that you bite into and only that bite of onion ring breaks off, not the kind where one bite and the whole onion is pulled out. Maybe the chef was overwhelmed because there were probably 10 burgers that came out within 5 minutes of each other. Wait was 30 minutes for burgers and fries and rings. read more

So i always assumed this place was a dive bar - which is fine bc i love that vibe. Finally checked it out without doing any prior research and it turns out to be a fairly nice restaurant.. the decor is kinda funky and doesnt really match the tone the menu puts out. Our waitress was kinda heavy handed and seemed annoyed about 90% of the time, but i guess they were short staffed. When food arrived it was great though! I had the ravioli with grilled chicken which was one of their specials. As an app i shared a crab cake which is listed under the app portion of the menu, but there was only one singular crab cake to an order.. kinda expected there to be two. It was fine though! We were tipped off to Raccoon Saloon by a local we met at a winery, and they didn't steer us wrong! We stopped in for lunch and a drink on a Saturday afternoon, and the Saloon was quiet. It really looked like a saloon, in an old building with a kind of honky-tonk vibe. We got a window table in the back room of the restaurant, overlooking a scenic waterfall into the Hudson River-- an awesome view! We each ordered an IPA and our meals. I got the smoked salmon on pumpernickel with a blue cheese dressed salad, and the other two in my group got a french dip and the crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. All were delicious, reasonably priced, and well portioned. Our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place to anyone passing through Marlboro and looking for a good meal! read more

What can you say about a restaurant that flawlessly handles 64 people for a rehearsal dinner on a Friday night? We had 3 different hors d'ouvres, soup du jour or house salad, four different entrees (Flank Steak, Grilled Chicken Breast, Filet of Salmon and Bowtie Pasta) served with mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes and vegetable medley along with coffee or tea. An open bar was available for the entire dinner and we supplied the cake. A review of the bakery will follow soon. I believe I can say that a good time was had by all - and we definitely will come again (not all 64 of us). Many thanks to Ronan, JP, Neil and all of our servers. Had dinner here on Sunday 10-10-21 and the place was just awful !!!!!! It has been a number of years, but I have eaten here previously and always enjoyed it From the moment we walked in to the empty dinning area and were seated, the server had a attitude and was slow !!!! Never said "Hello" or offered us a glass of water. NO beer menu, she had to read it to us ???? After all of that, we finally received our food menu,,,, after deciding what we wanted from the main menu the "waitress" then came out with a white board which contained daily specials, WHOOPS ... At this time I had to request two glasses of water to go with our draft beers.. I had Belgium Mussels in a cream sauce and my lady had Salmon Balls which were also served in a cream sauce. The food was mediocre at best and was spilled on my date as well as the table. ... Had to ask for garlic bread (2 dollars) which took so long to arrive that both our meals were cold when it got there. What kind of restaurant does not serve bread with a cream sauce based ???? It called dunking for a reason !!!!!! I dine out three to five times a week and this is the first time in forty years that I did not leave a tip. I am no longer going to reward slow servers who are not pleasant or at least accommodating !!!!! I am also VERY tired of Corvid 19 being used for terrible service... NO at this point Corvid has nothing to do with lousy service, it has to do with poor management and lazy bastards posing as professionals.. By the way this is not a inexpensive place to eat. Raccoon Saloon prices rival many of the "better" or finer restaurants found throughout the beautiful Hudson Valley. I would certainly suggest you take your money to one of them instead. We've been here a couple times previously but it's probably been 10 years since the last visit...we were passing through on our way home from our grandkids track meet, so... We were fortunate to find a parking spot right outside the door and got a friendly greeting. It hadn't changed much and it ain't fancy, although that doesn't hurt our feelings! There were no immediate openings, but the server asked about the porch. It was a nice night so we took it...we were the only ones using it so lots of privacy. The view was great...cascading waterfall right below us and the mighty Hudson in the distance. Our waitperson Kaya was there quickly and took drink orders. There were several beers that sounded good so it was a hard choice. My wife asked about a martini menu but there was none...the only recommendation was a standard Cosmo. She asked about a pineapple cosmo...I was kind of surprised that in a bar that size there was no pineapple vodka or even pineapple juice...I even have it in my liquor cabinet. Thankfully that was the only glitch. I had the burger, which at 12 ounces was a plateful! I had cheese and an abundant amount of crispy, salty bacon! It came with plenty of hand cut fries. The taste of the burger still came through, though. I was a little disappointed in the the house made ketchup - it was really sweet with no vinegar discernable...ketchup is one of the few things that I like to have vinegar. My wife had the crab cake with mango salsa and sweet potato fries...all very good but maybe a little more seasoning. Kaya was attentive but not intrusive and we talked quite a bit...we enjoyed our conversation. All in all, we enjoyed our visit, were satisfied with our food and service. Price I thought was reasonable ($75 for 2 dinners, 2 drinks, an extra side and a dessert to go)...we will definitely be back. read more

When a restaurant advertises it is wheelchair accessible that does not mean you will need to back the wheelchair over a 5" threshold with no slopping wedge on either side. This was the direction we were given tonight by the owner. This of course was after we stood outside the fire exit to the lower dining room that three wait staff couldn't unlock. The manager is called to unlocks the door and we see the high threshold his suggestion of why don't you just back it up and over. Well sir it is not as easy as you think to do that. Luckily for us my brother who has severe CP was able to stand so we could help lift him up over the threshold. This is extremely difficult to do when your lower extremities are stiff and unable to bend. To be honest if it were just me and my brother I would have left when I saw the threshold but, we were there to celebrate my sister's birthday and I wanted to try and make the evening enjoyable. Sadly enough it was not the case for me. The food was good and our waiter was attentive but, when the owner walks up to our table in the middle of our dinner to ask how the food was and not have the decency to acknowledge the difficulties we faced just trying to get into his restaurant is mine boggling to say the least. If I can give you a suggestion on how to become wheelchair friendly. Go to Home Depot spend $20 bucks build a small slope on each side of your thresholds to make all your patrons feel welcome. read more

I don't know what to say about this place. I definitely enjoyed my meal; very good calamari and the burgers are pretty good. My favorite part of the meal was gazing out the window to admire the beautiful waterfall that was pouring down below us. Fyi: If you are very afraid of heights, DO NOT sit next to the window in the back room. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because there were"curried greens" underneath my fried calamari. I tried some of it, it was okay but I became extremely sick that night and stayed that way a few days afterward. I had visited RS a couple of times in the past and decided to grab lunch here today again. It was another wonderful visit., The host asked us if we would mind waiting to be seated a few extra minutes so that he could give us a window table which we did and that was a really nice bonus. The food (mussels, burger, meatloaf, red velvet cake) was very good and the service was attentive without being obtrusive and the bill was very reasonable. Raccoon Saloon is so much more than the name indicates. It is a fine dining establishment in the guise of a relaxed place of food and drink. How good is it? I am a french fry connoisseur and can say unequivocally that the fries here are the best I've had in years. They are served with a fruity house-made ketchup. The veggie burger was warm and gooey. Veggie lasagna was savory and filled with zucchini, carrots and mushrooms. Desserts are masterful with great attention to detail. Everything at Raccoon Saloon is distinctive, high-quality, local when possible and delicious. The staff was welcoming and personable (especially valuable to an out-of-towner like me). Stopped in with family for an early dinner (about 3 pm). Shame on me for not ordering a burger for my first time here, despite the rave reviews. The special of sausage and shrimp cappellini was very well done. Excellent flavors and perfectly al dente pasta. My mom's veggie burger got high marks from her as well, being handmade and packed thick with veggie goodness. Service was very friendly. I'd go five stars on this place if we didn't end up waiting over half an hour for our dishes from the time of order (3 dishes, not during lunch or dinner time). Could just be a fluke as far as timing goes. It definitely won't stop me from coming back to try the burgers. Cozy atmosphere and great views.
