I would give this place a 3.4. It is very pricey for the quality that you are getting. My wife and I love sushi, particularly, salmon sashimi, nigri, and rolls. The salmon here did not really have any taste to it. The sashimi slices were pathetically thin, unlike any I have ever seen. The sashimi was not very flavorful. The rolls are relatively small. The best hidden gem in Sedona that's not in Sedona! 20 minutes away in Cottonwood, AZ. We walked in during Happy Hour. We received kind, friendly service the second we walked in. We ordered Shrimp Tempura App and Rolls: Power Bomb, New Vegas, Spicy Blue Fin Tuna, Mountain Crunch, Sea Dragon Godzilla and Tokyo roll. EVERYTHING was PHENOMENAL! This is some of the freshest sushi I've ever tried in Arizona. For desert we had was a piece of Fresh Homemade Carrot Cake. Such a great hidden gem in AZ! Whelp...I've been relocated here almost three years and have been searching for sushi...found this place and read the reviews and decided to form my own opinion. Small and intimate...there were two other tables when I arrived and it seemed promising. I was given happy hour options which was great. I ordered the veggie spring rolls (frozen premade no veggies but cabbage really)...ordered a premium roll, which was pretty much the only non-raw option, and the shrimp was small, the roll small and lots of cream cheese. I also ordered the miso soup which for $5 was like a wtf. Beef base filled with tofu, not what I expected. The service was good, Ashley was my server, but food wise...nah. I'm still searching and Sedona may be the next visit sadly. I wish this was better. read more

We are locals and have eaten here a few times. It's nice to find a sushi place close to home. I like tempura shrimp in my sushi (I don't eat the raw stuff. They cook all the shrimp in the morning and it's wet and cold when it's rolled. Also the rolls are half the size they used to be, they look like a long cigar. Their "crunch" topping sucks Pretty expensive for what you get. We spent $35 per person and it's not worth it. Spend the gas and go to sedona. I think the sushi chefs aren't that great. Szechuan in Sedona is far superior. Actually I think the safeway sushi is better. read more

We enjoyed the food! It's nice to have sushi in Cottonwood. Our criticism is that the rolls are small for the price. We were still starving after eating one roll so bought the ramen and udon meals. The price was fine and they did fill us up however not a variety, just ramen, meat and spinach. Will probably return. read more

Diane and the crew at Ms Masaki have consistently been our go to for date night and now take home thru the summer. We love the Mtn Crunch roll. It's a must in the family. Other favorites run from Godzilla to Play Station and the Power Bomb. We love the pork dumplings too, the only bad part, they are gone too quickly with our crew. The ramen bowels have been fantastic, we always find our way back to sushi though. Some of the best blue fin nigiri we've found. So don't stop and something simple. This sushi spot was phenomenal. I ordered the honey almond tea with the salmon dinner entree. The glaze on the salmon was delicious! My partner ordered the mountain crunch and Tokyo roll. This place is closed more than it is open. How many time have I arranged meetings there only to arrive and it it closed with a handwritten sign on the door. This week they were open. The new waitress was totally over her head. She could not get our sodas, she could not get our order right. She was supposed to get the table cleaned...I gave up and went to the car for wipes. I ordered the same 2 sushi's I always get...one was completely different. The waitress was unhelpful to say the least, plus no wasabi, no ginger. I had asked to order one and then decide if I wanted to order another....basically she told me no. So I ordered 2...she brought them 15 minutes apart and told me I should have ordered them together....I did.the whole evening was "off" which was really sad because out of 4 tries this was the first time it was open. The sushi is good when they have all the ingredients, But every time i go they are out of at least 2 to 3 things to make the rolls. They have a small menu so when out of something it really limits the options on what to order. They whine about how the supplier will only let them order a small amout of different things and when i suggest finding a back up supplier they get offended. I go to Hiros in Sedona also for sushi and never once have they been out of anything on the menu. I was Ms Masakis an a Sunday night, they had 3 tables of customers 1 was a friend of thiers ( KAREN) who tried to offer her 2 cents into my conversation with the owner. Hands down the best sushi in Northern Arizona!! Diane, the owner is so accomodating and just a joy to see the passion she puts in her business. It's evident by the numerous Golden Plate awards on the wall that she takes great pride in providing the highest quality seafood around. Decided to give this play a try since the boyfriend was craving sushi. Ms Masaki is the only sushi joint in the verde valley unless you are willing to drive an hour plus to the bigger cities. We live in camp verde and wanted to try here since its local and reviews are fairly good. We went on a Saturday night and made sure to check the hours before we drove there since their business hours seem inconsistent. We were told they were open for dine in and takeout. Face masks are required to enter the establishment and we noticed at the front door a sign say "cash only" so we had to go to the atm and then return which was a bit annoying since the lady on the phone didn't mention anything. Ambiance of the restaurant is your typical hole in the wall type place and located in a strip mall. When we arrived we sat ourselves in a booth and right away the owner or manager handed us menus, silver wear, and waters. I decided to go with the Who Came First chicken ramen bowl and the boyfriend got miso soup, spider roll, vegas roll, and tuna sashimi. We also split a large sake and edamame. It took forever for our server to approach us and as it started getting busier service kept declining. It was only one server in the restaurant and restaurant isnt very large so I feel like she could've been faster. I work in the industry as a server myself so I get it. Several mins later we receive our edamame Its a good size and pretty tasty. Sake was good as well but water definitely tasted like it was tap. Next my ramen came out while my boyfriend never received his miso. We flagged her down again and she apologized and went to retrieve it and the rest of the rolls. Other patroms in the establisent also seemed annoyed at the lack of service. My ramen was good but nothing impressive. My boyfriend also disliked his tuna sashimi stating it tasted freezer burnt. He also said his rolls were pretty mediocre as well. Im from California and have tasted sushi from all over the states as well and can definitely tell you these aren't quality rolls and fish. Might give another chance in the future since prices are fair. Hopefully food and service will be a lot better because this place could have serious potential. read more

My husband and I ordered 3 rolls and they were all unique and delicious. They didn't have crab for our appetizer choice, but I'd rather not have any than have it not be fresh. The shirmp was very good instead. The one single waitress was dealing with a full house most of the time we were there but she was doing a bang-up job meeting everyone's needs. It was cool to see how the rest of the staff pitched in to help. The wine list is limited but the (more-than) decent pour was a delightful surprise. It's a small place so it's not surprising that they've (like many other local restaurants) have had staffing issues. We've been twice now and will be back again. As for the comments about the quality of the food, this is the desert, people. Not that many years ago, I wouldn't order any seafood in a local restaurant. I have never had such fresh food,other than my own kitchen. Everything is so wonderful. My hubby ordered the Godzilla, which he loved. But the spider roll- he raved about. We also tried the salmon and wow. It was so flakey and cooked perfectly. I don't usually enjoy miso, but the flavor of this miso was perfect. I had to save room for dessert and we split the Tempura fried banana split..... it is like nothing I have ever had. So fresh and delicious. Our waitress so so sweet and made sure our little one was well taken care of. The sushi chef creates masterpieces and I just cannot say enough nice things about this place. Simply no. This is a spot that could not survive in any major city. It's truly far removed from anything resembling quality sushi. The rice is prepared sloppily and the fish has been hacked. I'm really bummed out. I thought this would be a good place for teriyaki, since it's a Japanese restaurant. Let me tell you, this was terrible. First of all $15 for a chicken and rice bowl with broccoli a few scallions, and some bean sprouts. The sauce which contained sesame seeds was awful. The sauce tasted burnt. I was very disappointed.
