I used to love, Love, LOVE W&Z (both locations) but, have noticed a significant DECLINE in quality over the years. They imposed "shrinkflation" on patrons as soon as they got busy. Then, after multiple orders at W&Z Ramen, there were missing ingredients routinely (bean sprouts & tendon). Ambiance is nice in both restaurants but, IMHO, again there's a decline in service from wait staff and I've noticed a lot of workers at the main restaurant but, when you ask for help, the workers act like they don't understand and can't hear. Ultimately, I've started making my own broth and I order from Pho Cafe. With my own broth, I simply have to get Thai basil & bean sprouts from Sprouts & I'm much happier. read more

Disclaimer: rarely 5 stars...always room for improvement. That said, I spent the day in Prescott and have been searching for decent ramen since my usual place in VOC is never open. I arrived around 4 and there was one other party in the restaurant. Door dash and to-go orders seemed to be the "thing", but I prefer sitting down. I was greeted promptly and ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee. Wow! Reminds of Lee's Sandwiches coffee in California. Just the right amount of sweet cream and ice...super refreshing and a large serving for $5.99. Only complaint is that cup requires a longer straw because as the ice melts, the straw disappeared into the coffee depths. For food I ordered the tonkatsu ramen with pork belly. What I did like about this meal was the toppings it came with. I've had ramen places nickel and dime for the toppings and this came with bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, corn, soft boiled eggs, seaweed and fish cake which I didn't opt for. Additional toppings are about $1 each. Also you can order spicy for no additional charge which I loved. The presentation was nice, the serving was large, but first taste the broth was lukewarm, not even near hot. Eh..I wasn't going to send it back to be nuked so I dealt with it. The broth itself was a bit dull, definitely needed salt and I added extra chili oil. The noodles didn't taste homemade, I found them to be a tad chewy. The pork, while there was a lot, was chewier than I would've expected, but honestly not horrible. It just felt a little "old". Now I know this sounds doomed, but I will say the leftovers were really good. The flavors saturated and when heated up, everything seemed to meld together nicely. Would I give it another try? Maybe in a pinch...it wasn't horrible, nor was it anything to really write home about after all we are in Arizona and I tend to lower my expectations on food that isn't meat and potatoes. The restaurant itself is large and bright and well lit. Parking is ample (no need to deal with the parking atrocity at Trader Joe's). Service was competent. I was craving ramen and everything else in Prescott seemed to be closing around 8-8:30pm so when i stumbled upon this location, I was grateful that they took my order (even though it was 20 minutes before closing...) I'm not sure if that's a cultural thing up here but typically a restaurant will take orders until at least 10 minutes before closing time. The person seemed very reluctant to do it but ultimately decided to take my order because, well, that's money on the table you're essentially saying no to. I ordered: - tonkotsu ramen - California roll - medium poke bowl with salmon The tonkotsu ramen is delicious if you've never had real tonkotsu ramen before. I'd probably scale this as being better than your homemade instant noodles and definitely under the actual 16-hr slow-cooked broth you'd find at a real ramen shop. HOWEVER, I do love that the chashu pieces were BEYOND generous and thick. It was a 5/5 in that aspect. The rest of the toppings were fairly generous and in truth it wasn't terrible but for the price I paid for the bowl I could have gone to one in LA instead. The California roll tasted exactly as I expected it to but I felt they were very generous on the avocado which I loved. The poke bowl was alright. I actually think they forgot to give us our sauce unless they had mixed it in the bowl. The miso broth was very good & overall a hearty soup that warmed us up. The spicy tuna on the sushi was plentiful, I'd even say too much since I left some on the plate. If the spicy tuna was great tasting, it'd be a great roll. But the spicy tuna was so-so. I should have just ordered the ramen. Yes... A terrific place to grab a tasty bite to eat.. The service is very friendly & it's not uncommon to have the manager check in with you as well. They work hard to ensure your visit is enjoyable. Good flavors with plenty of options... The only reason this isn't a 5 review has to do with the chicken. It seems they use processed chicken meat, rather than preparing, cooking, and cutting fresh chicken on site.
