I want to start off by saying the food was amazing. We got the half shell oysters and the Japanese black cod to start ordered a bottle of wine and for dinner I got the Chilean Seabass and my husband got the butter basted scallops. Food was all cooked perfectly so no complaints on that and highly recommend those. The chef was absolutely ON POINT and really the only reason I rated so high. However, the service was horrible. We came to Sedona to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. It was a big deal so we wanted to have a really nice dinner to celebrate. Made reservations at 7:15 about 2 weeks before we arrived. In those we let them know we were celebrating and we asked for a nice view if possible. We arrived for dinner at 7:12 and it was packed. We had to stand by the door waiting for a table for about 30 mins which I know it's busy so we were willing to be patient but that was just the start to the awful hospitality. Once they finally did sit us down, they gave us a table in the back of the restaurant next to the bathroom so quite literally the worst view but again, we were willing to be forgiving. (I've been in the industry for 8 years so I get how it is and I try my best to be aware of the situation.) Waiter comes over to say a quick/not very warm hello and says what do you want. We order the apps and ask sweet wine recommendations to pair with the oysters. He had no idea, and had to look at the menu and basically read to us what we could read for ourselves. Didn't seem like he really knows the menu that well. We wait a bit for the drinks and he brings the bottle of wine over without an ice bucket. He lets my husband taste it (kind of ignored me and didn't let me taste it too which was weird) and we just kept the bottle bc we knew service was being slow and we didn't want to wait for another. We asked him for an ice bucket and he never brings it over, we ended up having to ask the manager to bring it over finally so our white wine doesn't get warm. While we were waiting for apps for some reason the manager randomly took our plates and silverware from the table so when the apps came we had to ask another worker (not our server or the manager) if we could have those back. The server did check in on us but we felt so rushed the whole time. Asked us while we were eating apps twice if we were ready to order dinner and we just wanted to enjoy our night. The third time he asks us what we want (we were still eating apps) I was literally looking at the menu to decide and he was like "are you ready now?". Sir I am literally reading the menu right now. So I rushed my order and thank god the food was amazing or else I would have been livid. Finally the dinner comes out and we start enjoying that glorious/lifesaving food. While my husband had finished eating and they cleared his plate, I was still eating and the server comes over and asks if we want desert. We say no (woulda said yes if the service was better) and then he immediately says "ready for the check then?". Note I am STILL EATING and we have half a bottle of wine left. We just felt so rushed it was awful. And they didn't mention anything about our anniversary, which just shows awful hospitality. We had to ask him for the specials because he "forgot to tell us". Like we are spending a lot of money for great food but also great service and ambiance of a restaurant. It just seemed like operations weren't coherent and everyone seemed stressed. Again I had been a server for 8 years, I know how it goes. But that is no excuse for rushing us. And it's not like we were taking a long time. They just don't know how to take reservations, have hospitality, or handle a rush properly. I just wanted to feel special since we were having a special day. Most places offer free dessert or something or at least a note or at least a server with some personality. He was very abrasive and we didn't feel very welcome or like he appreciated our business at all. read more

This place has such a modern, stylish vibe the moment you walk in. The bar is super cute--on the smaller side--but it adds to the overall charm. We ended up sitting outside, and I loved that the patio was covered and equipped with heaters, which made it cozy even with the weather acting up a bit. It was lightly sprinkling, and we did get a few drops here and there, but honestly, it didn't take away from the experience. Now let's talk about the food--absolutely delicious. The deviled eggs were generously stuffed and beautifully presented, which made them just as enjoyable to look at as they were to eat. We shared the filet mignon, served with mushroom risotto, and wow... it was completely out of this world. Perfectly cooked, rich, and full of flavor. We paired it with the honey garlic carrots, and they were the perfect balance of sweet and savory--definitely a standout side. I also ordered a smoked blueberry sour cocktail, and it was so good--unique, refreshing, and well-crafted. Service was solid and consistent throughout the meal. This is a little hidden gem just past the intersection of 89 on the 179. Their main sign wasn't lit up and it's easy to miss. We didn't have reservations and had already been told at 3 different places that the wait time would be well over an hour. We put our names down at a place and I kept searching on yelp for something close by. This came up -- no wait. Blood Orange Mezcalita -- perfectly balanced. Super drinkable with a smoky mezcal that I really appreciated. I ordered the Carne Adovada -- Santa Fe style smoked pork shoulder. It was absolutely delicious and a very generous portion. More than 1/2 went back to the resort with us for breakfast the next day! My son ordered a burger and holy moly was it perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. What do you expect when it's fresh ground filet mignon? Hubby ordered Salmon Mignon -- a salmon medallion cooked medium rare. Absolutely divine. So grateful that this place wasn't hopping so we could easily get a table -- but also wondering why. The food was excellent and they have a remarkable wine selection too. Very elegantly appointed restaurant-- it would do well to dress up, but we saw people in shorts and flip flops equally comfortable. So go as you wish. read more

We started with appetizers: the hamachi and oysters. The hamachi was a bit too fishy for my taste which we didn't end up finishing, and the oysters were fine but nothing particularly memorable. For dinner, we ordered the pork chop and the filet with mushroom risotto. The pork chop was average, but the filet and the risotto were both quite good and definitely the highlight of the meal. All fresh and delicious! After going all in on the starters, we decided to share the two special entrees of the day: the cioppino and the halibut. Both were a good portion size and had amazing flavor. The cioppino had a fantastic broth I kept spooning over the fish, and it came with the perfect amount of garlic bread to sop it up with. One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. It has influence from Asian cuisine, Mexican cuisine, and American, and somehow they made a perfect blend. Every dish we had from the sushi to the burger was extremely fresh and tasted great. Everything had a lot of flavor and there was not a single complaint from anyone in our party. Even after asking to move inside after sitting outside, they made the transition easy. The waitstaff is incredibly on top of things and friendly, making the experience even better. Outside as well as inside creates an amazing low-lit environment. It was an enjoyable restaurant, including the music. On top of it all, the prices were incredibly reasonable. This modern American restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating. I was solo and grabbed a seat inside. Wanted something light so I thought I would try the balboa sushi roll. It was 20 dollars which seemed a bit high for the description but it made sense with how large it was when it came out. I was full from that one roll easily. I will say I personally like rolls that are smaller and easier to fit in your mouth all at once to get the full flavor profile. It being so large made certain components not fully balance. The sushi rice was also a little on the wet side. I loved they have the kizame style wasabi automatically come with the roll. Shorebird was by far our favorite meal in Sedona when we visited over the NY holiday! We snagged a reservation for evening of NYE and got there a little early. We were greeted by a friendly hostess along with the beautiful aroma of fresh seafood upon our arrival. Our server was super friendly and very attentive throughout our meal. We started with a half dozen of raw oysters. These are probably some of the best oysters we've had in a while, and I wish we had ordered more! My partner ordered the catch of the day, which was a delicious entree, but we agreed that my Chilean seabass was definitely the best entree we had, even when compared to many of our other meals in Sedona. We made a same-day reservation at Shorebird Coastal since it was conveniently close to our hotel and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with smiles and seated us on their patio, where we had a beautiful view of the sunset to start our evening. Our server was fantastic, he was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He recommended their catch of the day, the Restaurant Week menu, and even helped us choose drinks that matched our preferences (a small touch that goes a long way). To start, we ordered the Catalina Rolls, which were amazing, fresh, flavorful, and the perfect match for our cocktail and beer. My girlfriend went with the Restaurant Week deal, which included the halibut catch of the day, avocado fries (a must-try, especially with their dipping sauce), and finished with a warm brownie topped with walnut caramel ice cream. Everything was spot-on from start to finish. I went with the filet mignon, served over risotto and mushrooms in a rich sauce which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. We showed up here on a Saturday night with no reservations as it was right next-door to our hotel. It was also raining! We knew it would be a longshot, but we popped in anyway. The receptionist was very kind and said they had no reservations, but we were welcome to eat at the bar and receive full service. We took her up on that offer. Felix was the bartender and our server. He was so friendly right from the start. He said "it looks like you signed up for dinner and a show." Per his recommendations, we had the Chilean Seabass and Duroc pork chop along with an old-fashioned. We did enjoy watching him make the drinks. The Italian Seabass was excellent and perfectly cooked. Sounds good, looks good, smells good... but you'd be just as well served making box mix at home. I imagine there is no actual "soufflé" process going on here. My guess would be they just whip in ricotta, making it dense with a slight chew instead of airy and fluffy... but call it a "soufflé" to sound fancy. There's lemon aroma, but no real lemon flavor once you get past the lemon zest. And for the lords sake, if I'm spending $20 on pancakes can I get some actual maple syrup and not cornsyrup? read more

Came here with my husband and kids. The lady at the front desk was absolutely disrespectful and rude. We came for brunch and it was empty only 1 family that had arrived same time as us. She did not ask them if they had a reservation but when we came up front she asked me if we had a reservation and was being hesitant about sitting us outside in the patio when it was empty. She said well I can sit you inside but if you want to be out in the patio I will have to sit you in the sun. So of course she sat us in the sun yet another party same size comes in after us and she sits then in the shade. We had gone there for dinner before and the food and service was spectacular but this girl at the front was rude made me feel uncomfortable definitely not a great host. I simply felt uncomfortable when there was only 4 other families in the entire restaurant for her to tell me I needed a reservation to sit out back yet not asking the party in front of me if they had a reservation for brunch to be able to sit out in the patio!!! We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated outside with a stunning view (heaters keep the outside area nice and cozy). We visited Shorebird for dinner on a Friday evening, having made a reservation in advance. The interior was elegant and modern, with a nice-looking bar. For drinks, they didn't have any mocktails listed but the server informed me that nearly any cocktail could be made non-alcoholic, so I chose a Non-Alc Paloma. It was pretty good, although the grapefruit flavor isn't normally my favorite. For food, I ordered a Catalina Roll for myself, as well as Crab Cakes and the Spicy Tuna Eggroll to share with my friend. We also ordered a dozen oysters to split as a table which tasted fresh (although very small in size). The Catalina Roll was easily my favorite item of the meal! The real crab went great with the yellowtail and avocado, and the pickled red fresno chili gave it some nice flavor. The Spicy Tuna Eggroll was fine, but the texture was off. I expected the egg roll to be crispy, but it was all just chewy. And finally, the Crab Cakes weren't bad, but far from the best I've had. Service was friendly and attentive. We had brunch at Shorebird Sedona in the early afternoon. It's a bit counterintuitive to go to a seafood restaurant here but it's good and the views are fantastic. My crab Benedict was excellent (except for overdone asparagus on the side) and my wife's egg white frittata was well prepared-but would have been much more interesting with the yolks. Service was fast and friendly. If you want a steakhouse for dinner or a nice brunch with a good view, I recommend it. If you are looking for something uniquely southwest, I'd keep looking. read more

Came after a hike at 11:30, it was during New Year's week so even though all tables weren't occupied it was felt hectic and short staffed, if took us 15 minutes of standing at the front before someone came to check our reservation and seat us. It also took awhile for someone to come by and take our order, by the time our food arrived we were already there for 40 minutes and hungry. Swordfish sandwich: In a very good way, reminded me of a fancy McD fillet o' fish, the brioche bun has a nice soft texture that made it easy to eat and the guacamole and napa cabbage complemented the grilled swordfish with a nice crunchy and soft combination with every bite. Chicken and Waffles: Very good, my wife ordered this but the whole family picked at it. Waffles were crispy on the outside and soft in the inside, much like the chicken. Whipped butter was fantastic and melted quickly in the waffles. Caeser Salad: So refreshing after not getting proper greens for a couple days. Overstuffed Deviled Eggs: Came with an insane amount of deviled yolk, more than double on top and more as a base to "glue" the halves into the plate. For entrees we had the special which was halibut (fish was ok, parts were dry), Chilean sea bass was the best thing we ordered very flavorful on top of a bed of risotto; Duroc pork chop was good but did not come with any sides,; angus short rib was very tender but could have used more flavor.
