We went there 30 minutes before close on a Thursday night. We were actually not expecting the food to be that good being it was about to close and buffets usually have food sitting and getting old. Surprisingly the food was really good, had lots of flavor and I can't comment on freshness because it's our fault showing up with 30 min till close. The staff was great they even made me some almond chicken fresh and she brought me a Togo box with rice and told me to fill it if I'd like. Wow what great customer service and so kind to actually put in the extra effort and so that right with 5-7 min till closing at this point. She even offered to make me anything else I'd like but we were stuffed at this point and had to go food to boot! Will definitely be back and can't wait to try it when it's actually during a busy time when goods getting swapped out more. Don't get me wrong it was great and there were a lot of people given the time but excited to go back now. And their egg rolls were soooo good like the old ones we used to get. I operate Caveman Canine, a petsitting service in Clarkdale. With the parent's permission I always let pups try tiny bites of certain foods. BEST ORANGE CHICKEN and others. I've lived here for years and never tried Golden Dragon. Just didn't have high hopes. They literally have the best orange chicken and Mongolian chicken I've ever had (including PF CHANGS). If there was a no stars option, I would've definitely chosen that option. This restaurant I heard was a great restaurant back in the day! Recommended by family members, we decided to eat there this past Wednesday after two games of baseball at Camp Verde MS. BUT OMG! We saw mice in the hallway on our way to the restrooms, by the time we had eaten most of our food (we were seated in the back room). We immediately informed the lady who seated us and the Chinese lady who was the hostess/cashier, we left our table mortified after seeing the rodents and complaining to the restaurant staff. They were surprised, but did not look too astounded/shocked, like they had known about the rodent problem already! The cashier told one of the men workers to chase it out or kill it, he hit it with a broom and the rodent was struggling to run, and the worker kicked it out of the back door. I should've taken a picture, but I didn't have my phone when they were trying to find and catch the mouse! However, the cashier just knocked off one buffet charge as we were a party of 7 people and still paid $102. We just wanted to leave asap, and we left nauseous! I let her know that this was our first time eating at their establishment, and that we will NEVER return, and she was apologetic and told us it might've been because they had the door opened in the back and the rodents came in through there, also informing us that they did use a rodent/pest control. We told her that they need to have another round of rodent control done! They need to be reported. That is a serious health and sanitation violation for a restaurant! read more

If you're visiting cottonwood or Camp Verde then this buffet is the spot to go to. Great customer service is offered by the servers. If you need anything they got you! I'm a vegetarian and usually the options for me at Chinese restaurants are just noodles and desserts but this place had way more for me. Let me first say their egg rolls are amazing and yes they are vegetarian. The spring rolls were okay but nothing compared to the egg rolls. The sweet and sour sauce made both taste better. The French fries were crispy and good, ask for ketchup. The fried rice was different than what I'm used to but it was still good. The chow mein was decent. Ice cream tastes really good and so did all the different desserts they had. We will be coming back again when we visit again. read more

We are now frequent flyers at Golden Dragon. The colors and food flavors of food has improved greatly. We prefer and recommend ordering from the menu and not the buffet. The hot and sour soup is so delicious we frequently order it to go and same goes for their appetizer cream cheese crab-stuffed won tons. Their kung pao beef or chicken are my favorites. read more

During the week of July 23rd I spent several days touring the Verde Valley and the Red Rock Country. Having been there numerous times over the years, I've come to know many restaurants in the area. One I've long wondered about was the Golden Dragon. I always passed it up because I have to be in the mood for Chinese. On the 24th I was. I enjoyed a fantastic buffet. Big selection, everything hot, tasted good. Waitress and manager were both engaging and efficient. I so enjoyed the experience that three days later, after two days of subsisting on camp supplies, I returned for a parting visit. This experience measured up to the first. Fresh food was being brought out while I was there. I liked that. I've added the Golden Dragon to my dining options when up that way. read more

Spot on buffet catering to Americanized ideas of Chinese food at a very reasonable price. I often times call in an order and there is no uncomfortable issue with misunderstanding due to my Midwest accent. Believe it or not this used to be a great buffet...but that was back in the 90s. There were very few entree choices, most of which were hot or spicy. Usually, even on a bad Chinese buffet you can at least find one or two edible items...not this one. There wasn't a single item that was the least bit edible. When the hostess asked us if everything was okay as we left, we told her no, in fact everything was just awful. We told her it used to be great food back 30 years ago and she said it didn't make sense that they weren't still good; after all they still had the same chef. Maybe they wore him out? The booth we were put in had a pirate of the foam backing torn out, the seat had a big rip in it. while walking back to the bathrooms I saw 3 booths with men sleeping in them at 11:45 AM. Food was cold and chicken tasted like rubber. There were hot red peppers in the orange chicken. Asked for water for 2 and tea. Was brought one water and one coffee. Asked again and was brought one cup with tea. Won't go there again. Also first two big signs said price was 11.95 and they had a sign on the very top of a wall saying 13.95 so of course they charged 13.95. No apologies for having misleading signs. Hideous, absolutely every dish was horrible, overcooked, recooked and cooked again, dried out or left over I'm not sure which. My husband went the buffet while I ordered off the menu. How do you F up every dish in an Asian restaurant to the point that I wouldn't even take it home to feed to my dog ?! Even the desserts?! Cakes/cookies, while nicely displayed tasted like no sugar, no butter, no gluten, no taste. I left the entire meal on the table paid the bill and left, never to return. Took my wife to dinner tonight at the Golden Dragon. We both had the buffet. I had the shrimp with cocktail sauce, egg roll, teriyaki chicken stick, wonton soup, szechuan chicken, chicken with potato, a huge jalapeno pepper, spicy shrimp, and dessert. I really like their buffet. It is one of the best Chinese buffets I've ever had, and I love Chinese buffets. My favorite dish here is the szechuan chicken. They don't put the broccoli in the buffet version so if you have a chance to order just the dish then do that. Btw they also have a huge full menu to choose from. Some buffet dishes are not on the menu either. My wife was very impressed with the wonton soup and she especially liked that the wontons are separate from the soup so you can put as many as you want into your bowl of soup. Overall a great experience, friendly and attentive staff, and the owner is always super nice. We also enjoy ordering takeout from here, and what I'll do is order a few things from the menu theb add a few buffet treats as well. They charge by the pound for takeout buffet so it works out really well if you don't do like a salad or something inexpensive from the buffet. read more

I live in Cottonwood and have gone here quite a few times.It used to be my favorite ,food was always fresh,great service,plenty of choices.The last time i went will be my last.The service was fine but the food tasted like it was frozen and had been thawed out,So disappointing.I don't know if they hired new cooks that don't know what they're doing or if they started buying food from a different vendor. Giving them a 3 star because they're always so kind. Unfortunately I went in today and left dissatisfied with the service. Our server got us drinks but not a menu and was gone for 15-20 she sat another table during that period with menus. (Honest mistake) once I got I ordered something that sounded tasty. The food came out in a timely manner but was like warm. The whole dish was lacking in flavor so I had to put a generous amount of shout. A chicken chow mein dish with small scraps of chicken and an abundance of cabbage and noodles. I left feeling sick in my stomach all day. It's a hidden spot in Cottonwood. It doesn't look like much, but once you walk in, the atmosphere speaks for itself. I lived in the area for a couple months and was lucky to find this place. I heard about it from a family member. Now, I live in the valley and miss the place. The buffet was the reason I went in. The food was amazing! Also, the owner is a stand up guy. This place has good tasting food But the price gouging is Really getting out of hand...We used to go there frequently and enjoyed it, this was before the covid scene...Now that they have reopened the buffett, we thought ,great lets go and eat there again..Buffett prices that used to be 20-21 dollars are now 30-31 and thats before tip!
