The food is ok for being a Chinese Buffet in a tiny Arizona town. Possibly Vomiting it up a 3 hours later, not quite so ok.

However, the older slots are sadly in disrepair. The lights indicating how much you can bet do not light up and it's hard to determine what the minimum and maximum bets are. The screens are dark and some have lines through them. It's as if they don't care about the older machines and they are just filling space until they can replace them with newer slot games. One slot machine where I sat was very confusing and was not functioning properly. I called an attendant over who called a second attendant that pushed a few buttons and shook the machine, then said, it's working now. They never said that they would have someone work on the machine. In my opinion, that machine should have been shut down for service. The players club card readers on the machines do not work well. Your card has to be inserted several times before it is read. At one point I went to the Players Club desk and got a new card thinking it was my card, but it was my card, but no it was the reader. With all that said, I did enjoy my visit at Cliff Castle Casino, although it was more work than I had anticipated. Between calling attendents, getting a new card, fighting with the card readers and making sure I played long enough to accumulate enough points for the free $10 play, it was a lot of work. Once you accumulated enough points you then had to go to the Players Club and give them $20 and they would load $30 on your card.. just not worth the time and trouble. I would go again if I had time to jump through all the hoops. Otherwise, I would move along to another casino either in Flagstaff or Phoenix. Okay how would you write your exper

There was an odor in the room, and the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned before we checked in. There was long dark hair strewn on the shower walls, hair all over the bathroom floor as well as dirt and other spots and stains. We reported it and asked to have the room cleaned-no luck. We asked to be moved to another room-no luck. We were simply told they would take note of it. The following day we asked to speak to a supervisor and guess what-there was no note of our complaint. They said there was nothing they could do and would notify the manager on duty and we would be contacted. We heard nothing from the hotel. This is not how I would run and business and I certainly won't give them my business again.

Here at COLT Grill I had The Filly, a salad the menu described as "romaine, walnuts, pears, cranberries, bleu cheese crumbles, cranberry vinaigrette". I opted for the "small" ($8.50) over the" large" ($13) and it was a beautiful salad both in presentation and taste. But the salad portion of the menu also said one could "add chicken or smoked turkey" ($4) or "add beef brisket" ($5) and I did. Did you just tell me I could get a perfect, tasty, ample salad with a separate, robust and delicious side of BBQ beef brisket for $13.50? I wasn't just ready to fly to Arizona; I was ready to move to Cottonwood. This meal was delicious. A "small platter of smoked brisket" ($14.50) was enjoyed equally by another at my table but, with my bowlful of brisket, I paid little attention to that other meal. My attention instead was aimed at a nearby table's indulgence in the smoked Mac-n-cheese ($4.75) and Cheesy Jalapeño Corn Bread ($4). Jealous I was, for I had no room for anything more. What a winner. COLT Grill might be half the reason I return to this area in the future.

The bland ramen broth tasted like they heat up water in the pan they used to cook broth, like no flavor. Then the "Korean ramen" bowl I ordered was 50% raw broccoli and carrots. My wife got the orange chicken which was pretty obviously the boxed frozen premade stuff you get in the freezer isle at Safeway. Then, they had twice as many servers working than they had customers and I still couldn't get a refill until the check was brought out. What a shame, this place use to be good.

This place is surprisingly decent, and in buffet land, that's basically a Michelin star. Breakfast? Solid. Dinner? Also solid. They're pulling double duty like a champ without breaking a sweat. The bread is fresh-baked and dangerously addictive (I may have committed carb crimes). The pasta station had me twirling happiness, and the omelette station was flipping out perfect custom creations without judgment. But let's be real: the true MVP was the soft serve. That creamy, dreamy swirl machine had me acting unwise. I went back for thirds and zero shame. Shoutout to the staff--they're genuinely nice and accommodating, like they actually enjoy their jobs. Rare as a perfectly cooked buffet egg. Whether you're fueling up before a day of whatever you do in this area or winding down with dinner, Fred Harvey delivers without the usual side of disappointment. Pro tip: Leave room for the soft serve. Trust me. I'm basically a professional now. Would return. Might marry the soft serve machine. 1 Star - Fred Harvey Gift Shop: Where the Souvenirs Are Fine, But the Racism Is Vintage I came for some overpriced keychains and maybe a magnet to remember my surprisingly decent meal at the attached Fred Harvey restaurant. What I got instead was a masterclass in selective hospitality from an old white-haired lady behind the counter who clearly moonlights as the neighborhood gatekeeper. First incident: Restaurant's closing, gift shop too. My son lags a few steps behind (you know, kid stuff), so we're casually browsing while waiting. Out comes the yell: "We're closed!" I politely explain we're just waiting for him. "You need to get out." Cool, cool. Right then, a white lady and her daughter stroll up. Same situation--waiting for hubby. Suddenly it's all "Oh ok dear, no problem! Take your time!" The contrast was so stark I nearly got whiplash. Round two, breakfast the next day. We actually wanted to buy stuff this time. Walk straight from the restaurant (it's connected!) into the shop. Another white lady enters from outside. "Darling, we're closed." She says she'll just grab a couple things--boom, "Ok that's fine!" Then my son swings around the corner and it's instant yelling: "WE ARE CLOSED! You can't buy anything!!" I jump in: "We came from the restaurant, we were already in here." Her response? A legendary "SO!" My white friend (who could pass for Latin) had to step in and point out the obvious double standard before she grudgingly let us shop. At that point? Zero desire to give her a single dollar. I wanted to vault the counter and test if that hair was a wig, but I'm a lady who respects her elders--even when they don't respect basic decency. For context: My kids are half Black, half Spanish. Beautiful, polite, and just trying to buy some tourist junk like everyone else. The racism was so blatant it ruined what should've been a harmless five-minute transaction. The shop itself? Meh souvenirs. The experience? 1 star and a lifetime of side-eye. Racism is alive and well in the gift shop, folks. Skip it unless you enjoy vintage prejudice with your postcards. Would not return. Might mail the manager a mirror instead. I would be giving the restaurant a 5 star review for the amazing service and pretty impressive buffet experience, but the gift shop ruined that guys. Most of the "hot" items were cold, tasted like they had been sitting out far too long, and seemed anything but fresh. The carving station was the worst part. The meat I was served was severely undercooked -- to the point it was inedible. I actually had to placed it on a napkin, and the waitress took it back to show her manager because of how bad it was. That alone should tell you everything. The service didn't improve the situation either. The check-in process was disorganized and unwelcoming, and overall the experience just felt poorly managed from start to finish. For the price you pay, this place is absolutely not worth it. There are far better options out there. I would not return and definitely would not recommend it to anyone. We paid 72.00 for this buffet which wasn't posted anywhere when you walk up or I would have not eaten here !
