I now also have my youngest starting drum lessons and can't believe the smile that's plastered on his face at the end of each lesson. This is a kid who'd prefer to play video games more than anything so it's like he's a different person once he goes to his lessons. The instructors live and breathe music and you can always tell how much they enjoy sharing their love of music by the way they talk to you about lessons, music history, performances, etc. Many, if not all, have degrees related to music and come with years of experience performing and teaching. Some even continue performing locally and internationally throughout the year while teaching at TML. In other words, taking lessons here all but guarantees that the instructor is qualified educationally along with performance experience that backs up their instructional knowledge. The owners and admin staff are the nicest and most personable people you can interact with for a busy music studio. I've always appreciated their willingness to help whenever I need a schedule modification or with any other logistical issue I might have. These folks will treat you like family from day one and are always quick to respond kindly. They do provide a free trial lesson with zero pressure to sign up. My son did a trial piano lesson several years ago but it wasn't for him so we didn't push and TML understood that. They're not the type of business to convince you to take lessons if music or a specific instrument isn't for you (or your child). They're worth a try especially if you're on the fence about starting lessons.

Coren has been an outstanding guitar teacher. For decades, I nursed a dream of picking up the…read moreguitar. In my mid-40s Coren became my first instructor after he selflessly suggested what type of guitar to buy when I contacted him for that expertise alone. With regard to practicing, it took me a year and a half to find my groove. Which is to say other than cramming for an hour before our sessions I didn't practice. Week after week I felt self-conscious due to that lack on my part. On any given day Coren was always cool fielding me where I was at. Whether face to face or via Zoom, he is an attuned cat. Something clicked last month. I'm practicing a lot and there's been a significant improvement in my ability. I have gone from hiding that I play to ensuring the performance of a song or two centerpieces any family distanced call I'm in. It brings joy into my family's spaces near and far, and I know that is what drives Coren, continuing the awakening to the joy that comes from playing music. With Coren it is a challenging experience that develops confidence and interest, not frustration and boredom. He shares his thorough knowledge of music theory, such as modes and keys, which is good for those of us who don't want to just listen-and-repeat, but to understand the logic and structure behind music. But he only occasionally touches on music theory instead of going overboard with it. For me, the experience has been very balanced in terms of being challenged, not bored or overwhelmed, which I think is essential to development.

We were planning our wedding during the pandemic and things were constantly uncertain as to whether or not the wedding would be able go to on. Iman and DJ Kia had routine calls with us to check-in and offer advice. We knew we could trust their opinions and flexility during the uncertain times. On the day of the wedding, DJ Kia was so involved with every aspect of the ceremony and reception. He knew exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to make our wedding day an unforgettable experience. He literally orchestrated our ceremony processional and was making sure everything was running smoothly. Everyone felt at ease walking down the aisle because DJ Kia was there to send them off. We were lucky enough to have Iman MC our wedding, and believe us when we tell you he knows how to put on a show. The dance floor comes alive with Iman on stage and everyone was out of their seats and dancing the entire night. Our cocktail hour ended up going over schedule, which pushed back our reception. It was no worry though, because Iman was there to quickly restructure the timeline and ensure everything ran smoothly. Even with unexpected issues, we felt completely at ease knowing he had us covered. He is such a genuine person who truly cares about his client's happiness. We also used Night Owls for our video production and working with them was a truly pleasant experience. They captured every aspect of the wedding beautifully. In just a few short weeks, we had our trailer and wedding video created, both of which were edited to our liking. They were extremely patient with us throughout the process and the end result is videos we still can't stop watching! Thank you to Brandon and the team at Night Owls for all of their hard work.
