This is not a good place to rent. It's managed by a corporate-level company that doesn't fit the charm of a small town and lacks any sense of accommodation. The rooms are poorly equipped, with inadequate bedding and missing appliances--you'd be lucky to even find a broom. Avoid staying here with this company. I wish I had looked up reviews first! They never emailed me about making my second payment and canceled my reservation without telling me. When I contacted them to request cancellation due to COVID they told me they couldn't refund me cause we changed dates (we hadn't) and they told me they'd canceled the trip already anyway. They were super rude and when I asked for proof of our changed dates and their attempt at receiving my second payment they never responded. Super scammy! read more

We stayed in Cabin 3 for a weekend trip with friends. Key pickup is at 4 pm (and no earlier!) and checkout was at 11 am. There is limited to zero cell service in the area, so there was a lot of pre-trip coordination. The rental company provides ok maps and general property descriptions, but it feels like renting in the 1990's. When we had issues, we called the main office on the landline. Biggest complaint: no recycling or compost at our cabin. We hauled everything home. Cabin 3 sleeps about 20 people (plus or minus), so the house was purpose-built for this kind of friends and family trip, meaning ample bedrooms and two gigantic picnic tables instead of dining tables. The kitchen was a jumble of things-you-need and oh-is-that-a-waffle-iron? They did not give us a pre-trip kitchen inventory, which would have helped. It was one of the better provisioned cabins we have stayed in, but still had a lousy low-pressure dishwasher and a tiny sink that wasn't up to the task of dinner cleanup. Needed a disposal. Cheap mattresses. The usual complaints. But it was otherwise tidy and comfortable enough for group hangouts in the kitchen and den. I'm glad that the company provides a lot of print outs and instructions. If they could encourage the owners to upgrade the kitchen a tiny bit it would be an amazing deal. As it is, we might look at other properties next time, just to see what other amenities they offer. read more

This review is for the management company and not the home, itself. A group of friends and I rented cabin #7. We shouldve first known how poorly this company operated based on the fact that check-in is at 4pm and their office closes at 5pm. Luckily, I arrived at the cabin at 4pm while my girl friend that made the reservation got the keys. Even though I could not enter the cabin, arriving before night fall allowed me to access the road AND access the condition of the cabin. Again, there were signs of mother nature's recent arrival - broken trees on the road, branches all over, etc. The cabin was not unkept but it did appear that it needed to be cleaned up from the winter storm. So when we saw that there was a broken deck rail and other maintenance issues, we didnt freakout. It appeared that someone (I assumed the property management company) did try to clean up the broken deck by piling all the wood rail pieces to the side and under the deck. Though the rental agreement states that you should immediately notify the property management company, there is no service (cell, internet or tv) at the cabin, and by the time we wouldve gotten to the office, it wouldve been closed.  Fast fwd to 2 days after our trip. The girl friend who reserved the cabin and put her CC down for security informs us that she was charged (without notification) ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. She attempted to contact the company, only to be repeatedly diverted to the Owner, who is never available because he is checking in on the rental properties. I find this reason acceptable but only if the available staff is competent and aware of all operations. If the Owner is NEVER available to call a customer or receive a calls, then why bother even having other staff. Speaking of the other staff - they will hang up on you and stop answering the phone. After a day, Owner informs my friend that the charge was for the damage that someone made on the rail on the deck. He said that he filed a police report and that a carpenter came by and said the damage was well over $1000. She asked how he knew it was from our party and he said it was monitored, so she asked if there were cameras and he said yes. She asked for a copy of the police report and the footage of this happening this past weekend, and he said he will provide it after the police review it. He said if we saw the video we would clearly know who it was that was kicking the railing. So here are the grave diggers: 1. Yes, the rental agreement states that the cabin is "monitored". However, you cannot legally video record anyone with out their consent. There was no indication that we would be recorded at any time (not on agreement or signs at cabin). 2. There was no cameras. Again, there is NO service of any sorts at this cabin. There is no hardwired CCTV. The only means of "monitoring" would've been human or via satellite. Neighboring home with straight view of aforementioned deck rail, is also a rental and not permanent resident.  3. The next morning, my friend called again to ask for the police report and footage. Nothing. So she called Whatcom County Sheriff and guess what, there was NO POLICE REPORT FILED.  So these incompetent and unprofessional scumbags made up a story to corner us into ignorantly pay $1500?! Did they think she wouldn't notice the charge on her credit card and ask why?! Did they think they could make up a story about a nonexistent camera to scare us into paying for something we didnt do?! Did they think they could THREATEN us with a false statement that they filed a police report?!  After all these revelations, my girl friend left a message to the Owner indicating all these facts to be THE TRUTH. And guess what, she magically receives an email receipt that reversed the $1500 charge. No explanation. No apology. Nothing.  Homeowners, please do not hire this company to represent and manage your home. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LYING, DECEITFUL, CONNIVING, MANIPULATIVE, UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY. read more

Awful customer service experience. Be aware that if you book a place in Glacier you will have to pick up keys in Maple Falls which may not be in your way if coming from Mount Baker to check in. This is not disclosed on their AirBnB property listings and you only find out after you book your non refundable stay. They acted as if we being unreasonable when we said that we did not want to drive an extra 30 minutes each day to check in and out, which we only learned we would have to do AFTER we reserved! After reading the other negative reviews, I see we're not alone in our disappointment with the rental agency. They failed to warn us of the broken clothes dryer and tried to shift the blame to our clothes! We called after checking out to inquire about an item left behind and to discuss the fact that several hundred dollars worth of clothes were ruined by the dryer. Small holes were found in many items due to them getting caught in the open gap between the spinning drum and the machine! There's not supposed to be a gap where clothes can get caught, ripped and stained while drying! The management company first said they'll let the owner know... and then said it may have been caused by an article of our clothing getting caught in there. Huh? They also said there would be a $25 charge to send us something back... plus postage. I hope the cabin owners find an alternative rental management company... or create one. They wouldn't last where I live with their attitude toward customer service. read more

I agree with others on the Management company being horrible. On top of that - our cabin was equally horrible. It was not at all like the pictures that are posted online. The photos show a large cleared area with nice wrap-around porch around the house - the reality - it's all over grown - to the point where we could hardly get our truck in the driveway. Inside the house - cobwebs everywhere - on the light hanging down over dinning table, up on the ceilings. The lighting was so horrible in the downstairs bedroom - we elected to stay upstairs. Also - the downstairs bedroom closet is FULL to the gills of clothing. I presume the owners of the cabin - there is not a single closet for guests to use. Overall the entire feeling staying in this place is that the owners bugged out for a weekend so we could rent it. It was completely uncomfortable due to all the personal stuff around - and all the Christmas decorations that are still out (in August!). Christmas lighting on the railing, snowman in the corner, christmas cards hanging, christmas bells hanging - just weird. Outside under the porch (it's a large area due to the slope of the yard, so there is a large area under the porch) it is full of bicycles, outdoor gardening stuff, etc. Again, more personal possessions. We ended up only spending one night out of four in this place. It was horrible. On top of that, the power was out (due to high winds). Power had been out all day. At 2:00 my husband went down and talked to the management company - of course they had power so they didn't care much. At 4:00 he went back up as we were still without power - and was yelled at when my husband declared our displeasure of the home and how it is maintained! That was it - he came back, we packed up and left. As others have noted - there is no cell service up there - of course, phones do no good when the power goes out and you are using phones that require power - so much for emergencies! And the cabin we were in had a TV - no dish like other places there - the TV was like a 13 inch TUBE tv! Where the heck do you even get one of those?! It would have been nice to have a REAL TV with some service to keep track of weather, etc. Never ever again. Horrible place, even worse management company!! read more

Dishonest management. Property had no emergency supplies for a power outage (lights, working lighter, generator, etc...). When we had a power outage, it was unsafe at the property. We were told we would get a refund, but when we checked out early the next day, they went back on their word and only gave us a partial refund. We would have done things differently if we had known we would only get a partial refund, but I think they knew that and are just trying to make money from a bad situation. read more

We went up to Mt. Baker for a weekend stay and booked a cabin at Snowline through MBL. Reservation online originally through AirBNB was easy and we paid in full. I called their office just a few days prior to our trip and spoke with Meaghan. She answered all my questions and was a pleasure to work with. We arrived before the 4pm check-in, and because I did give her a heads up that we would be there early, she had all our paperwork and keys ready. She was very thorough with the instructions and directions, and check-in was a breeze. Tip - read all the paperwork they email to you before your trip so the office staff does not have to read through the instructions with you and check-in will be quicker. The cabin was old and had a musty smell, but it was clean and appliances were fairly new. The check-out to-do list is a little more than most private properties we have rented through the years, but we didn't mind. However, it may seem excessive for some renters (strip the beds, start the laundry, gather the trash, turn thermostat down, close all windows, load and start dishwasher). read more

Please be wary of the management of Mt Baker Lodging, so that our jarring experience does not happen to you, too. My review is for the highly unprofessional co-owner of the managing agency - not for the accommodation itself, which was absolutely wonderful, beautifully appointed, stylish, comfortable and well maintained. My family of four (quiet, clean, attentive, fastidious, appreciative, highly responsible) was 9 days ago incomprehensibly and rudely blacklisted by the co-owner. She then abruptly canceled a second getaway for a special birthday celebration. Although I gave the staff highly complementary and appreciative verbal feedback to them on checkout from our stay in December (which was received warmly at the time), and despite my family of four all spending 90 mins carefully cleaning and undergoing all the requested checkout procedures, I was told "The reason is on one of your past stays you left the home very dirty and you did not do your check out procedures when you departed the home. On another stay you seemed to be very unhappy with your stay and left Mt. Baker Lodging a really bad review." Absolutely none of this is even remotely true. When I phoned multiple times to ask about what clearly seemed a case of mistaken identity, and to speak with the owner, the co-owner variously hung up on me, kept silent on the line for minutes at a time after I identified myself, and she later sent emails saying "After that we decided we do not want you for a guest so please do not respond to this email" and "You wanted a excuse you have one please leave us alone." Privately, knowing that cleaners of vacation homes are among frontline workers in a pandemic, I mentioned to the owner quietly that a previous occupant had left multiple items of dirty clothes under the beds, and that during our own cleaning we had spotted these (and dustballs, etc). I wanted to let him know that a quiet word with the cleaners would be in order. It's true that they are a private company and can make their own choices. But we are not even remotely ski party bums, dirty, unappreciative or anything else. We're a university professor and a filmmaker and our two quiet, nature-loving adult daughters. I'm a person who ALWAYS gives abundant credit where it's due. This is only #2 negative review anywhere, anytime in my lifetime, and I took 9 days (after reading some of the accompanying wary reviews) before deciding to write this one. My husband is speaking to a lawyer about this company's completely misdirected defamation . Instead, I would highly recommend Luxury Getaways in Glacier, which treated me with friendly professionalism, efficiency, immediate help and a small discount as a returning and appreciated guest. I am not sure what's actually going on with Mt Baker Lodging, but there seems to be a very unpleasant undercurrent which may or may not have anything really to do with us or indeed any other guest. The co-owner is honestly not suitable for any customer-facing service industry. Please be careful! read more

This was such a magical little cabin (#43) in the woods to live at! We, and our 7 year old pooch LOVED our weekend there! The kitchen was pretty modern, and very neat and tidy bedrooms. There is no cell phone reception, but there's a landline phone at the cabin and WiFi, so we did not miss being not connected to the world, and sometimes you just need to get away from the urban chaos....so this was perfect! The instructions in the email and in person by the management were crystal clear, so there was absolutely no confusion at all where to go, and how to go about things, especially during check out as well. We are definitely coming back again. read more

My husband and I stayed at cabin #16 and it was very cute and well maintained. It had pretty much everything we needed during our 4 night stay (the kitchen could use a couple of larger cutting boards and spatulas though). The hot tub and grill area is mostly private and we enjoyed those amenities the most! Perfect little spot for a couple wanting to get out into the wilderness. Finding the place was very easy thanks to the directions provided. No cell service or internet but there was a TV with a DVD player and a selection of movies and board games. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and would lodge with them again. read more

I am a big fan of small businesses which Mt. Baker Lodging clearly is. They were very accommodating with our late arrival and the house that we rented was perfect for a late fall mountain getaway. Everything about the accommodation itself was a "5" and it was clear that the owners took much pride in their property. Be forewarned, however, that if you have a problem, the customer service motto of the Mt Baker Lodging office seems to be "the customer is always wrong." While lip service for good customer service is provided, it is given grudgingly and with a clear implication that the stupidity of the customer is a burden to staff. read more

We really enjoyed this quiet and scenic cabin where I painted and my wife read books. Since we are older, we did not need mobile access nor did we try the DVDs, although it was an interesting collection. It would be nice to have the keys to the boats on the dock. I was interested in the architecture as I have seen the company advertise in Dwell. We had a close call since there was some mix-up in booking through Boutique Homes, but Dan was able to get the owners to leave and they cleaned the cabin very quickly while we enjoyed a free dinner and drinks up in Glacier (nothing open in Maple Falls). We were able to get in about 6:00, and it was fortunate that we got to the office early while they were still open. I am glad we did not have to retreat to Bellingham. I would say the management made the best of a possibly bad scene, and one of the housekeepers who has returning to service the hot tub saw us and led us into the remote location. The house itself was very clean and well-appointed. Unlike some others, we found the office staff very pleasant. We never left until our stay was over. I would go back if in that area again. read more
