When my family visits the Bellingham area, we love staying here. It's a charming boutique hotel in a great central location with clean rooms, friendly staff, and a pleasant ambience. We enjoy sitting on the deck to relax, being able to walk in the cute Fairhaven downtown area, browsing through the books at nearby Village Books, and grabbing a bite to eat at the Colophon Cafe. If you enjoy walking trails, the inn is a short walk to the Interurban Trail northern trailhead. read more

I was the winning bidder of the "Fairhaven package" at the CRMO Seattle Children's Hospital Guild fundraiser. The package included a one-night stay at the Fairhaven Village Inn plus lots of other gift certificates for shops in Fairhaven. When I made our reservations, I spoke to Journey (who was fabulous and went above & beyond). Upon check-in, the same treatment continued. The owners do an excellent job hiring the right people for the inn. Everyone went above and beyond in absolutely every area. It was sparkling clean EVERYWHERE (including the parking lot). They had wonderful products in the bathroom. I didn't ask if they sold the products...if they don't they should! We plan to be back to stay again (hopefully before the end of the year) and many more times after that. This hotel is gorgeous and truly one of the greatest hotels I've ever stayed in. It's in a perfect location with a view of the ocean on one side and the town square on the other side. There's regular weekly activities in the town square so one night I got to watch a rock music festival from the bedroom and enjoy the show. There's a beautiful bookstore across the street and the downstairs cocktail lounge is beautiful as well. Meghan at the desk was such a sweet and kind person who helped answer our questions and added to the hospitality of the hotel immensely. Can't recommend the hotel enough! read more

Sweet hotel in the middle of a perfect part of town. The view from the balcony was great. You could see the bay but over the tops of the buildings next door. Still. It was great. And a short walk to the board walk. Downstairs Fairhaven never disappoints. Such a cool area. The room was well appointed. A little traditional. The library downstairs was perfect as was the breakfast and coffee they served there. I loved the deck and we brought our coffee and muffins there to enjoy the morning. Downside: micro fiber sheets. We love staying at Fairhaven Village Inn. The Inn is conveniently located near the Village Green, fantastic restaurants and shopping. It is connected to Galloway's cocktail bar so you can go down and have a craft cocktail and delicious snacks during your visit. The hotel also offers a happy hour in the evenings, and pastries and fruit served in the morning off of the lobby. Rooms have views of the bay or the Village green. There is a trail to the boardwalk close by so you can also go for a stroll over to Boulevard Park to grab a coffee and enjoy the views. The staff is always friendly and informative. I always feel welcome. We live in the area but like to visit for a local retreat and always leave feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the weeks ahead. We booked a suite and it was big and nice but there were issues: 1. You have to request room service before 11am or it doesn't happened. We weren't told that when we checked in but it was noted in a document given to us. Was able to call the front desk and get towels, toilet paper deliver and the trash taken out. 2. The bathroom is a bit funky. The tub is in a room completely separate from the shower (which has no door to seal it from the rest of the bathroom) and the room that houses the tub has see-through curtains. Very weird and inappropriate. 3. We found a 1/2 empty Gatorade bottle when we got into the room. Not sure if it was from the cleaning staff or the previous person who had the room. The decor was nice and the room was basically clean. It is located in the Fairhaven District which is the jewel of Bellingham but given the price there was some disappointment. read more

Very comfortable rooms with comfy beds. Excellent wifi. Quiet. We've stayed here twice and chose the side with a view of the harbor, which is amazing at night. Note that this is a working harbor. It's noisy day and night, and we are experiencing headaches from the strong smell of resins, paints, and solvents. Breakfast is included, but it's along the lines of what you would expect in a lower end motel (juice, cereal, coffee, tea, waffles). Easy walk to the charming Fairhaven shops and restaurants. Quite expensive. You are paying for the location and the views. No microwave or fridge. read more

Beautiful, historic, top-rated Inn right off Exit 250. We stayed one night here, and it was memorable indeed. The vintage looking library on the first floor provided hours of entertainment and comfort. The rooms were simple and tasteful, the beds and pillows very comfortable, and the electric fireplace in room was a nice touch. The icing on the cake would have been a big Jacuzzi bathtub- the tubs/showers were clean and nice but very small. The concierge were all friendly, and really made you feel like you were staying in their home as an honored guest. Nice complimentary spread of continental breakfast items and GREAT coffee in the morning. Take your coffee to go in the paper cup and go for a morning stroll after your breakfast, there is a walking trail that starts right at the Inn's main entrance. Located right across from the Green, and a prime location for a day of shopping and taking in the views of Fairhaven. I will return for sure. read more

I stayed here during Jan. for a job search interview and since it was off-season, this place was desolate. There wasn't much to do in winter here and I woke up early in the morning to the sounds of seagull calling. On this first day, this was refreshing but after a few days, you really wish the birds could tone it down a bit (nice way of putting it). I was also so bored that I ended up feeding the seagulls as entertainment. Now for the hotel itself. I think this place is a bit pricey for what you get. The internet is spotty and there is no water fountain! You either have to drink from the sink faucet OR buy bottled water from the vending machine. The nice part of this hotel is that it's rustic (having a library with fireplace), if you are about this stuff, and that it's clean. However, that's not saying much since you'd expect any hotel costing over $150 a night to be clean. read more

We are sitting here in our nice room on the "Harborside" laughing at the sounds coming from outside our room. How in the world are we going to get any sleep tonight. Let's see... which sound to choose from... the horns from the constantly running trains, the cars loading and unloading from the ferry coming in from Alaska, or people getting in and out of their cars from the hotel parking lot below. They make the "Harborside" seem very scenic and romantic, but in reality, your view is of a mini industrial district where railroad, boats and car traffic all come together. They need to rename it "Industrial Port Side" It seems to be quite a bit noisier than the last time we were here... Oh that's right, we stayed on the "Parkside". Much quieter.. read more

We spent 8 nights on the road. Of those, I had my best night's sleep at Fairhaven Village Inn. That should count for something, and it does. We had trouble finding a place to stay in Bellingham. We had called every B&B we could find. There were no vacancies. So we had to widen our search. I felt like we might be overpaying at Fairhaven Village Inn, but our backs were against the wall. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. She figured out a way to find us a small discount on our room, and she made some solid restaurant recommendations. The included WIFI was fast and reliable. The room was large, clean and comfortable, as was the bed. Like I said, I got my best night's sleep here. Breakfast was a serve yourself continental breakfast affair. They had pretty much everything you might want, including a make your own waffle maker. If I ever spend another night in Bellingham, I'd probably try the B&Bs again. But if they were full, I'd be comforted by knowing that Fairhaven Village Inn likely has an available comfy bed waiting for me, just in case. read more

One of the best hotels I've stayed. The lobby has a large reading room with 24-hr coffee and a lot of books. Classical decoration. The room was spacious and the pillow was firm enough for me. TV was small and in the closet but I usually do not watch it anyway. Breakfast was OK and the hotel staff was kindly enough to make a waffle for me each morning. Coffee was good too though I am not a regular coffee guy. Across street there is a wonderful bookstore! Very close to bay front! Hopefully I can go back again! read more

Our room was really pretty with a nice size to it-- I had to get my steps in late at night and there was pacing room :). Toiletries good, there's bathrobes if you like that sort of thing. We checked in a little late so it looks like we missed cookies, but in the morning there's coffee/tea service and pastries and some fresh fruit; there's a creperie about two doors down we are going to try for breakfast. Good pillows/bed, temperature was a little tricky to get right but that happens everywhere. Parking around the back (get a pass when you check in) and free WiFi; if you need a gym they give you a use pass for the Bellingham Training and Tennis Club two blocks away. Fairhaven is really pretty and we are looking forward to that breakfast and peering into shops; we're glad we stayed here. read more

My husband and I spent a weekend here in March 2008. It was our first time in the Bellingham area. The inn is in Fairhaven, a cute town with lots of shops and restaurants. We loved the room we stayed in, and had a chance to check out their master suite (which had a full size jetted tub in the bathroom) and was all-around a SWEET room - we vowed we'd come back and stay there next time. As for our room, it was cozy (literally) as we chilled by the fireplace. We had a patio where we brought up our breakfast and enjoyed our water view. My parents stayed here when I was a student at WWU. Now that I'm a grown up and living far away, I stayed there with my husband. It's perfect for a little getaway. The bed was the most comfortable I've had at a hotel- its that memory foam style that molds to your body. I took a nap immediately! The parking was safe, and the little balcony was perfect for sunbathing. The tv is oddly too far away to see from the bed, though. For sure get a bayside room, as the view makes it worth it. A suggestion for the breakfast is omelets; would have made it just right. (I'm not really a waffle person). I do love the coffee-always available in a little study. One of my favorite weekend trips. We stayed at the Inn for a getaway weekend and found everything to be excellent. The room was super comfortable, attractive, and homey, and the cost includes WiFi, a continental breakfast bar, and an appetizer plate at the bar next door. With the lovely library room and patio with beautiful view, plus a choice between a room with a view of the park or one with a view of the harbor, we were delighted with our stay and can't wait to return. This is definitely the kind of hotel to put your parents up in when they're in town. With that said I have stayed here a few times and I have to say it is very nice. The actual hotel and the rooms are very clean and the bed is super comfortable. They also have a sitting room with a fireplace, comfortable couches, with books and games for your liking. Some of the best service I have ever experienced. Such a lovely room and a FANTASTIC view but the service is what really shinned. After checking out, my boyfriend and I went down to our car to find that the battery had died. I went back to the front desk to see if there was anything they could do and Jeff was quick to assist us! He was able to jump our car and get us back on the road in less than 10 minutes. We couldn't be more appreciative. We will definitely be back! One last thing: the sheets on the bed are insanely soft! It was such a luxurious sleep!! read more

Very nice plan to stay the night. My company does a yearly function out of Fairhaven and they always put us up here for the weekend. The hotel is smaller, but the staff is very friendly. The building has an air of upscale-ness to it, without being stuffy. All the rooms are nicely appointed with very comfortable beds. While fairly expensive IMO, it would be a great place for a romantic weekend away. read more

Spent Valentines here with the Love Goddess. We used to live in B-ham, so we were looking forward to spending a little time hanging out in town, and we wanted it to be comfortable and centrally-located in Fairhaven. My first impression of the place was that it was clean and quiet. Fortunately, that didn't just apply to the lobby. The room was remarkably clean, and the only quieter place we've ever stayed was the incomparable Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop. The view off of our small balcony, part water and part industrial park, was not without interest. Decent flatscreen and ipod dock. The ladies who helped us at check-in were really nice, and accommodating. They gave us a $5 off coupon for the bookstore across the street. Their private parking lot was convenient, and breakfast was adequate (I like waffles and yogurt, but fresh fruit would be nice). Minor con: a bathroom fan would have been nice, and not just to suck up the wax smell from the floor in the bathroom. You should stay here if only to see the shiniest, waxiest bathroom floor in the world. The Goddess and I will come back here. read more

Out of town guests stayed here for two nights recently. They told us they arrived at about 10 p.m. due to a late-night flight arrival, and were "greeted" by a very grouchy old man who made them feel guilty for showing up. When we went to visit them there, we noticed the room was stuffy and didn't smell very good (musty?) - the smell was hard to identify but very unpleasant. The overall feel is very stodgy, stuffy and pretentious. We will definitely choose a different place to host out-of-town visitors next time! read more

The Fairhaven village inn is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. That being said, the management is TERRIBLE!!! please beware of their offers and over chargers. My family booked a total of FOUR rooms from this hotel for my wedding and one room didn't even have enough amenities for the three people in the room. When my dad called to book rooms the staff encouraged him to take pictures in the library and around the hotel. They would only charge a room rental free for the library IF we were to use the room at 3pm for the ceremony because 3pm is the check in time and they were at full capacity. (understandable) but we started pictures at 1pm and we were completely out of the hotel by 2:30pm. We asked several times if us being there was okay and no other guests were there. The staff was incredible nice, congratulatory, and assured us that our small wedding party was okay to be in the library and not to be charged. My dad has called and the manager fought with him and he is now forced to dispute the charge with his credit card company. read more

You know, when you pay $250 for a room you expect everything to be first class. This place missed the mark in a few key areas. The continental breakfast consisted of Hampton-Inn-quality waffles, corn Chex and Quaker instant oatmeal. The room was clean and had top quality bedding, but the decorations were a bit dated and the hot water took probably a minute to reach the sink. All in all a nice clean place to stay but overpriced in my opinion. read more

The staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel is right in the middle of the fairhaven district which is a really nice part of bellingham. Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Very nice place and the room was great. Very comfortable. Expensive. We paid extra for a "sea view room"...which did show the water in the distance, but mostly the rooftops of nearby industrial buildings. We had a vision of sitting on the balcony, drinking wine...uh, nope! Luckily, the hotel is located near everything you could want in Fairhaven, including wine. I couldn't decide between a 3 or 4 star rating. I decided on a 3 because of the bed. It was very hard, and for the price, I would expect something better. I had a harbor side room. It was nice, but the A/C was out, and when I booked online three days before arrival, nowhere did it mention they were working on the air. It's late May; I need air. I double-checked on the website after I left, and no, no mention of the air being fixed to warn customers. I wouldn't have booked there had I known. The view from the harbor side has an eyeful of industrial buildings. I could see the foothills of the Cascades and the water, so it wasn't a complete letdown. They forgot soap in my room, so I had to call and get that. At least they brought it up quickly. The decor in my room looks like two designers did it or that they wanted to replace the furniture for one half of the room but not the other. Elegant rustic meets classical/colonial. Wish they had a nicer coffee/tea service in the room than what they did. It's very Holiday Inn stye. It was a letdown for the price. The staff were very nice, the library and check-in areas are beautiful. The front porch is lovely, and the location to the shops is very good. read more
