We visited on Christmas Eve. I love a good local dive bar. We had a Bloody Mary which was tasty! The owner of the bar (and the one who made our cocktails) was super friendly and welcoming. She even invited us to the Christmas potluck which was scheduled for Christmas Day. Worth a visit if you need a beer. read more

The best wine list in town and they have off sale so if you roll into town and are looking for beer and wine to bring to your cabin or camp then this is the place. Shelly has a great selection and the prices are better than the local store. Stop by and have one or two and then take a bottle or six pack to go. Thanks a heap Shelly for the hospitality! read more

I got out of town for a few days after all the holiday crowds and headed for the mountains. I come through her a couple of times a year. This place is a small town bar and they frequently collect for local causes. This time I walk in and there is a rifle mounted on the counter behind the bartender. While the 21 Club has one just for show, this one is for the customers. The bar is raffling a rifle for a scholarship fund. After (a few gin and tonics) I flip through the local community college course schedule, it all makes sense. The largest course offering is gun smithing. Things are different out of the city. Back to the bar. It's a friendly place with funny signs posted through out. It has a older crowd, while the party place in town is the bowling alley's bar, up the road. read more

After coming to Lake Almanor for every summer of our lives, we decided to finally check out Chester's watering holes. Mt Lassen Club was our first stop and it did not disappoint. Interesting crowd of course as we're from out of town but the service was top notch! We didn't catch her name but she was lovely and very attentive! Had to create a profile just because of this experience. Went to this bar on a Thursday night around 10 pm. I've never felt more unwanted in my life. Nearly every seat is filled at the bar but it's silent (awkward silence), minus one person at the end of the bar, the bartender's boyfriend, who is moaning about how he wants to leave. After ordering a drink and talking to a friend for a few minutes we decide to go outside to have a smoke. When we re enter the bar, apparently we missed "last call" at 10:30 with, still, almost every seat taken. The reason why last call happened: "me and my boyfriend want to get out of here and you guys came in way too late, I'm not serving you another drink". Right at this moment, another buddy shows up after driving 30 minutes to meet us and we ask again to have a drink since he came this way just to meet us. More attitude leads to this statement, "I'll give you one shot but you have to do it now, I'm not waiting for you to sit here and take your time to drink". Now you see 4-5 people leave the bar after seeing the tone of the bartender; hope the owners like to see easy money walk out the door like that. Even after this experience I attempt to pay (and tip) for the drinks but instead am met with "just give me 20 bucks and leave". We hope that 20 dollars made it to the register so the owners can make some money and find better staff. Worst bar experience ever. read more
