    House salad with vinaigrette

Food was great! Limited menu & very pricey. Not affordable to take the kids. However, the steaks were cooked perfectly & excellent! Garlic potatoes were delicious. My house salad with a vinaigrette was delicious & fresh. My husband was not a fan of the ranch dressing. Everything seemed fresh. We would eat here again. Staff and atmosphere were just okay considering you're paying high end pricing.

We've been dining at the Red Onion for many years now. In fact we use to go their location when they were in Chester. A true mom and pops business as most nights you see the owners, a husband and wife, working behind the scenes. The food is always tasty, fresh and unique. The service is always good too even when they are really busy. Being able to sit across from the lake outdoors on their patio while eating dinner makes for some epic views while the sun goes down.

Went there this last weekend for a late dinner after driving up to Lake Almanor for a girls weekend. Their last seating was 8pm but we made it in plenty of time, and I'm so glad we did. This family ran restaurant had the nicest staff who were all very attentive too our drink and food orders. We had lemon drops to drink from the bar and a variety of food items, the beet salad (our favorite dish), mushroom ravioli, shrimp pesto pasta and the beef stew with gnocchi. Being Italian all of these items were familiar but they all had a different flair and flavor based on the owners family heritage and were excellent. The pesto pasta with shrimp was a little oily but had great flavor and nice sized shrimp, all of the other dishes were great. The restaurant and outdoor area are lit with small outdoor lights and cabin type lanterns around as well flickering. So glad we got to try something new and to have a great restaurant when we visit our lake home.

Food was tasty, good and was hot, service was alright, they have limited staff so it take a while to order and get it. Took time to get the check so we were there for about 2 hours.

Food: Steak frites was yummy. I had them modify the fries into Frings (fries and onion rings). I cannot believe I'm the first customer to make the Frings request! Woo Hoo!! The others in our party had the Shrimp Scampi which they all loved. Thai curry was tasty View: Filtered view of the lake. If the weather accommodates, ask for a table on the deck Service - Okay, Jodi was super cool. Nice light touch at service, not pushy and attentive. We especially loved you sharing your story. That really made our evening. A genuine person I like to make a point to note about really good service. NOTE to Management: Your staff will make or break you. Jodi is a keeper. Overall: This is a spot to visit when you are in the area. Check them out

My wife and I found this place accidentally while on a short vacation. We stopped and inquired…read moreabout returning for dinner that evening. The host said " not a problem. Plan on around 7:30, the crowds diminish, and the sunset is beautiful." He also said reservations are fine but not necessary. Cool, see you this evening. Returning to the B&B, I decided to research the restaurant. I found the website, and searched the menu and reservations. The website said closed, and no reservations available.I thought it odd that the information was in conflict, so I called. I received confirmation that the were open, and made a reservation. After arriving that evening, we were told we needed to wait awhile because the server was busy. We waited patiently for about twenty minutes to be seated. After finally being seated, we waited again to order. The place was very busy for a Wednesday evening. After all the waiting, I started to wonder it this would be worth it. Finally, the meals came. The food was very good as was the service. After the meal, the waitress coherced us into the cheesecake for desert. She said - if we liked - she could serve us on the patio. The sun was setting, and the weather was beautiful, so we took her up on it. What began as a question marked evolved into an exclamation mark. The cheesecake with blueberry compote was Devine. Was it worth the wait? Yes, for the cheesecake alone. If you are visiting the Mt. Lassen area, this place is a must. Barring the inaccuracies of the website, the experience was wonderful. I could rate the restaurant a four, for the error, but they get a six for the cheesecake, so five it is.
