Classic mountain dive bar! Nothing fancy, but it doesn't need to or feel like it's asking to be...! Plenty of good selections await just behind the bar and are enjoyed by a mixture of locals along with tourists in the area. There's one pool table and a number of smaller TV's showing the latest games. The bar is centrally located in the small downtown Graeagle amidst a number of boutiques and other small stores. Skip this place and go somewhere that actually wants your business! What a difference YELP MAKES! My friends and I went in to grab a beer while checking out this awesome little town. It's right next to a spot that serves food, so we thought "what the heck, why not?" There were two "locals" ( I assume , because they never looked at us once) were sitting it the bar already and were the only ones in there. The bartender / owner? Was soooo not interested in serving us. He was using short answers and pointing to reply to questions. The tap blew on a beer and he just left the room without serving the rest of us, not knowing at the time he was going to change it. When he came back we literally had to ask him to serve the rest of us. I was so irritated that I pulled out my phone and pulled up my yelp app to check in and leave this review... wow oh wow did his tune change in a hurry. After he saw I had yelp.... it was "what else can I get you? , how are you guys doing? .... bah bah bah. Too late MAN! The TVs were on LOUD the entire time then changed to the same show on all TVs a little later. The place was old and could defiantly use a fresh coat of paint and a NEW bartender! They were out of Stella (he informed us by pointing at the turned around beer bottle!)even though they had it turned around on the shelf of beers. The sierra Nevada ( beer we got ) was cold but not ice cold and refreshing. Served in average beer glasses, not chilled. That was disappointing. If they want a 5 star from me, they are going to have to do some revamping and def find a better attitude! Sorry , you guys will have to do better than that! read more

Great bar and a true place to sip the flavor of the town. If your as lucky as we were you'll meet local legend Garlic Greg. Although he made no claims he's somthing like the unofficial mayor of the area everyone seemed to know him and he helped me and my wife out to our car ( knee surgery and a couple margaritas). A true local hero! Rob the bartender was also great between the two of them we were able to learn so much more about this awesome small town. Best bar in town! Oh wait- there's only one other that it competes against. :) Friendly staff, great drinks and best of all the friendly people that live in this wonderful small town. My husband was charged $42 for an off sale six pack of beer on New Years Day. The bartender was rude. He pointed his finger towards the beer instead of answering where the offsite beer was located. A customer elbowed him in the back twice while walking by. Not an inviting atmosphere, rude service, price gauging & the message was clear that if you're not local you're not welcome. A shameful way to treat customers on New Year's Day. read more

Camping up at Gold Lake, there was a need to head down to civilization for ice to keep the camp beer cold. Wanting to do my part for the adult beverages I grabbed a few ladies and headed down the hill to Graeagle. Of course there is some mountain folk art show going on and the ladies want to peruse the goods, I spy the Knotty Pine Tavern to the left. "I'll be here, come get me when you're done" Walking in the place is hot. A swamp cooler does all it can, but it can't do enough. There are old pictures and memorabilia from years of biker rallies, old cigarette ads and other fun stuff all over the walls. Only Budweiser is on tap, but a few palatable beers are there as well at a cost of only $3 per! Dirt cheap to Bay Area standards. A few of the local fishermen offered me a seat at the bar and in 5 minutes we're sharing stories. The Olympics were on and so a bit of track and field was watched as well. Places like this remind me of those little places you find after snowboarding all weekend in some little town no one has heard of, great times with a nice slow pace. read more

We needed some grub for the road & randomly stopped here. $4.95 for store-quality toasted bagel (w/ small packet of cream cheese on the side). $3.75 for a small inedible biscuit. $2.75 for Folger's quality drip. They essentially up-charged a ridiculous amount for heating up food you could buy yourself at a convenience store or market (at a fraction of the price). Stopped here yesterday for a couple beers. Charlotte is the best bartender ever! Great mix of friendly locals and tourists. We love 'dive' bars and the Knotty Pine didn't disappoint. It was super clean and I imagine we will visit again before the weekend is over.. read more

One of my favorite things to do at the knotty is sip hot doctored up coffee on the front porch and watch the weather. This is a nice clean bar and is smack dab in the middle of greagle. Every time I've been here every one is very friendly. read more

You want to get into a bar fight with some random dude you've never talked to before? Knotty pine is the bar for you. Charlotte a legit bartender but I guess I her boyfriend is a regular and a random brawler (drunk) (he's always there). Was in there for a drink with my brother in law next thing I know charolotte was holding me down while her 60 year old boyfriend was swinging on a 21 year old (me) for NO reason. Been in plenty of bar fights before I grew up as a local but I've never been caught off guard by some old dude while his gf was holding me back like that. If it was a fair fight I would've never posted this and took it but apparently Charlotte's used to her bf doing this and will always defend him/kick you out of the bar/call the cops on you. I'd just go to Mohawks which is awesome or bank club which has cleaned up its reputation and become a respectable bar. read more

Do to my SUV breaking down I had to spend 8+ hours in town. The local gas station fixed my SUV. So at around 1:00pm I tried the Knotty Pine for a beer or two. Nice Bartender! She even let my dog in so he could crash because it was hot outside. Nice local dive! read more

A trip along 89 would not be complete without a stop at the Knotty Pine. Nothing special in the way of food or drink but I love the atmosphere. Good standard drinks and breakfast in a 1960's place with knotty pine interior (go figure). I like it. read more

An exceptional small town dive. Don't expect the bartender to greet you with a smile, but after a night of talking and good drinks he might just be a new best friend. We met so many nice locals in this bar. We ordered a Margarita, the bartender with out missing a beat said if the blender works you've got a deal! Perfect! All the drinks he made were amazing, we learned a lot about Graeagle history from the locals, could not ask for a better bar! read more
