Waited 45-60 minutes without any service or as much as a hello. Waitress, one of many just standing behind the bar, said she just got there and had no clue what we were talking about although she was there the entire we were. When we asked if she could finally take our order she said "I'll go ahead and tell you right now food is taking a really long time to come out". We ended up leaving. For a restaurant 1/3rd full we couldn't for the life of us figure out why the service was so poor. I had family in town and am embarrassed now taking them here. Won't be returning. I can see now why this place has an average 3 star review. Do better! read more

The bathrooms and other facilities are FALLING APART. There is no way this place can possibly clean properly with the bathroom tile crumbling in this way. It's so disgusting. Is this place the Miami University Alumni meeting hall? Because it seriously seems like everyone in the place is a Miami grad desperately trying to relive their Oxford bar experience. This is your basic, neighborhood bar, and not even a really great one at that. If listening to sorority sisters squeal in their squealy girl voices and fraternity brothers hoot and hollar with their beers lofted high in the air is your thing, well you might dig it. MLT has got to be one of my favorite places to go on a Friday/Saturday night. It's nothing special, no bells and whistles but I always have an absolute blast. On the weekends it's always packed with mid 20 somethings, sometimes they have a band and people start dancing which is always fun. When the weather is nice they open their back patio (which has heaters if it's a bit chilly) and back bar. I go to this place once every six years or so.. no matter how much time passes, it's still a lame bar. I can't figure out their demographic but I think I've narrowed it down to blondes with fake IDs, guys who own lots of visors and some folks trying desperately to hold on to their youth. The beer selection is lame, unless you like Bud Light. The mixed drinks are watered down. They always have cover bands, which I usually don't mind, except when the band sucks and the sound system is terrible. This is a quote from an actual MLT charmer, 'I just became single, can I buy you a beer?'. So, if you like that sort of pickup line, this place is for you. Okay, see, I feel a little bad giving this place two stars, because I know what it is when I go there, and I go there anyway. It's basically a dumpy dive bar for college kids, or those who have recently graduated from college. It has all the ambiance and charm of a place where people puke all over the bathroom floor or in a corner and try to hide it. I go here, however, because CSL gives away a pitcher of beer here after my kickball game, and my devotion to free beer is stronger than my dislike of a place where I'd encounter a pukey pre-frat boy. The staff is normally pretty decent, and the food's okay, so it's definitely not without its redeeming qualities. Actually, the back porch is not bad either when it's warm enough to be out there and it's not packed to the gills. I actually had some fun there on St. Patrick's Day later in the evening. From what I remember, there are sometimes good bands playing inside, but it gets crowded quickly on weeknights, even though they charge a cover, which to me, is kind of unforgiveable- charging a cover to get into a dive bar. The ladies' bathroom is by far the absolute worst part of this place. Whoever designed this restroom fails at architecture. The hand dryer is on the wall right next to the door, which will open and hit you while you are trying to dry your hands. God forbid that this is all going on and someone is trying to get out of the first stall because both the person opening the door and the person trying to get out of the stall will smash you. Monday nights are MLT's Trivia nights (be careful, even though you're not allowed to use smart phones, etc...people cheat, which is why i don't play there anymore!)! It's all you can eat wings @ $7.99 and the staff is pretty cool. Try their black bean burger cause it's pretty awesome. The homemade potatoe chips are pretty sweet too. Ask for a side of BBQ sauce and ranch...it's highly recommended! Also for Sunday Football for the Bengals is a pretty cool place to attend. Sundays are all you can eat wings too! Trivia nights here are Monday nights at 8pm. Indoor and outdoor seating provide ample room for the relatively large group that gathers here weekly. The crowd is a steady mix of young 20's college coeds and those in their mid 20's. If there's a Reds game, you're sure to see it on the big screen. Enjoy a few cold brewskis during the game and trivia questions but do NOT order the wine. They come from those dinky plastic mini bottles and taste like someone poured it out of a shoe! Yikes! Funny story - I lived in the area for 3 years in college and never went.... just went recently and man did I feel old. The crowd is early 20s (I got hit on by a pretty hot 21 year old so that totally made me feel good about myself hehe) They had a band playing which is cool (I didn't pay a cover... maybe because we got there really late?) The bar itself isn't anything to rave about - cheap drinks though. I like the patio (but it was cold so they should have had the heat lamps on - there's a bar on the patio too which gives this place a half a star bump) Anyway... I am also a big fan of Trivia Night at MLT's, even though I've yet to win (a word of warning: I'm convinced that there are teams that study up on Sundays to prepare for Monday night). On Mondays, all drafts are $1.50, too, so you can play trivia and get wasted for less than $20, which is perfect for poor college students. MLT's is usually packed every night of the week; Tuesdays and Wednesdays are slower, but they still have a good crowd. The bar attracts a good mix of young people: college students, young professionals, restaurant servers/bartenders, etc. The bartenders are always laid-back and usually remember your drink after you've been there a few times. Went in on a Tuesday night because I wanted to check it out as a possible future happy hour spot. This place is small and couldn't really accommodate our group of 30 during the winter months, but with the addition of their very nice patio in the summer it would be a great spot. Had their buffalo chicken salad- It was excellent and reasonably priced. Bartender was friendly and the drinks were good. There isn't really anything that makes this bar standout and I hear that the crowd is very young on the weekends, so that's why four starts. We got the Mt. Lookout Cheeseburger which was really good. It came with red onions, which I think it is better, not over powering. They grill their buns which really added great taste and texture. We ordered a side of tater tots & onion rings. The tater tots were good, smothered in cheese. I've always passed Mt. Lookout Tavern, but only recently stopped in for a drink with friends after work. They had an impressive beer selection that far exceeded my expectations upon walking in. We split a few appetizers (I recommend the fried pickles) and sat on the back porch. The porch was awesome; really spacious and welcoming. As a recent-graduate, I felt right at home with the college like atmosphere. It could definitely use some sprucing up, however. If you're looking for a chic spot with great decor, pass. If your crowd is more low key, this is the spot for you. read more

MLT's is just ok, nothing too spectacular about it. It was packed on Sunday of labor day weekend though. The inside isn't too terribly big, but they do have a big, nice outdoor patio, very good for the summer months! There is even a bar outside, so you don't have to go inside to get more drinks (it was far less busy, and much faster too). Not too expensive for beer, mixed drinks, I'm not sure. They did have a live DJ inside, but since we were outside, I didn't get to listen to him too much. They do have a cover charge, which kind of stinks. It doesn't too much strike me as a kind of place to charge one, and for paying one, I don't really feel like I've gotten my monies worth. My biggest pet peeve: the damn floor!!! Even with having nothing to drink, I still manage to trip on it every time I go in there! You would think they would put some caution tape on it or something... If you are in Mt Lookout and want to listen to a live band at a bar this is most likely your only option in Mt Lookout. I used to frequent this bar more often, as I have had a number of good friends bar tend here (and one that still does). Drinks are reasonably priced and often there are specials or happy hours going on. Another downfall is that often they charge a $5 cover. In my opinion no bar in Mt. Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. There was a single guy at a table and two guys at the bar. And us. Very quiet. There was good music playing over the radio and the bartender was nice. It was 100 degrees out, so I asked her to create a refreshing cocktail with juice, and she can up with a tasty beverage. I had the buffalo chicken quesadilla - what a messy item to order! But not bad. The buffalo sauce was actually spicy. I love that. It was, however, incredibly runny. No substance, just spice and water, methinks. My lunchdate had the all you can eat chicken wings. I had one, but I thought they were devoid of meat, teensy and pretty grisly. I guess that's the only way you can afford to stay in business if your clientele is a bunch of dudes and you offer all you can eat wings. But what do I know, he had two orders. I'm not sure what the bad reviews are about. People mention the goofballs that frequent this place at night. Dude, that's what gives a place character! Apologies go out to those who go to a bar and expect NOT to be picked up on. I mean, you won't get hit on if you drink in a dark corner at home, I can guarantee that. Anyway... I'm not a regular, but I grew up in Cincy and remember hanging out in this area to hit up Zips. I recently visited my folks. My father and I now make it a tradition to go here for their wings. I LOVE their wings. I've been everywhere in this country, but theirs are the meatiest and the price is really cheap. My review is based completely on the few times I've visited and both times, my dad and I rave about their wings. And my dad use to own a restaurant, so he ONLY criticizes others' cuisine. I do remember coming here years ago to play pool and I enjoy it. The neighborhood is really cool too. The staffer that served us was also a hottie. A shoulder tat with an upbeat sweetness. I get that things get busy. I'm a nurse so I'm very understanding of that. But after waiting for more than 5 minutes for a bar tender to notice me and they choose to serve someone who just walked up and happened to be more attractive suddenly they were on the spot ready to server that person. When I voiced my unappreciation for it the male long blonde hair male serving this night of February 16th 2019 immediately instructed the other blonde female to not serve me. I asked for my card back. The blonde female tried to apologize but that guy already let me know I wasn't a priority. Which is a shame. Bcs as a nurse no one wants to feel like they or their family is not a priority. MLT's has a lot of negatives in my opinion, but still serves a purpose in Mt. Lookout. There are not many bar choices in the area so I have ended up there several times during a night of drinking. They often charge cover on the weekends, which is a big no-no for me. The atmosphere feels like a college sports bar at times, especially when all of the creepy guys hit on you non-stop. There are often bands playing but I have never been too impressed. They have a large patio in the back, complete with a separate bar, that is pretty cool. My last visit was on Monday night and I left annoyed. Trivia was already going on and looked like a lot of fun. When I went to order a beer I asked the bartender if they had any craft beers, he asked me what I meant. After giving him several examples (Stone, Rivertown, Left Hand), he said that I could get a Bud Select. Bud Select is not craft!!!!!! When I said no thanks, the guy next to me at the bar began to act rude to me and then the bartender joined in. This was after being hit on incessantly by the older men sitting at the bar. Yuck. I was quite annoyed by this point but happy when the bartender said they had bottles of Hudepohl Summer Ale. I told him I'd take 2. He handed me 1 Hudepohl Summer Ale and 1 Leinenkugel Summer Shandy (the bottles did not even look similar). I was so frustrated I didn't even care and took the incorrect beer, paid and left. It is such a shame to me that MLT's would hire someone who had no idea what they were doing, limited knowledge of their products, and thinks it's okay to gang up on a customer. But hey, it's a funny story now at least. If you're a beer snob like me, you may leave MLT's with a headache. If you just want a drink (nothing special) and to enjoy the weather on the patio, it may be worth your time. However, it's never worth the cover charge. read more

Ugh. I came with a group of 8 people, we all order drinks and mine gets spilt by a patron standing next to me right after we pay. It happens, whatever. I ask the bartender if he can make me a new one, he refused. Straight up just said no. Lo and behold, he is the AGM of the bar, and said, "Sorry, our owner is weird about that stuff." I've went here a few times for their trivia night on Mondays. Every time I've attended people are always cheating when playing the game, using their cell phones to find answers. I do applaud the people that run the trivia bc they will call you out if you are trying to cheat but it doesn't always stop people. What ever happened to people just being honest and especially since the reward is money it would be nice if people would keep the game fair. I come to this bar somewhat frequently - but I recently had their food for the first time. I did like the straight fries but the mozzarella sticks were just average - I don't think they fried them for long enough. The food to me was just bar food... Nothing bad, but nothing amazing. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because it is DIRTY. There is so much dust in the restrooms... It looks like it hasn't been cleaned for months (when people get very intoxicated there daily). Our service was also EXTREMELY slow... The waitress came back maybe every twenty minutes & everything was just very slow. I do really love their patio area - it is a fun time.
