I've eaten here twice and it's growing on me. Really good food and cold beer was what I was looking for. They have about 20 beers on taps. Not as many Hazy IPA's as I would like but they had the Reingiist Truth which is real solid local beer that tastes even better on Tap. Wide variety of food options with leanings towards Greek food which I think I was told the two owners are Greek brothers. But they had all kinds of different option for lots of different pallets. At restaurants, I usually try to order one of their specialties. At J Taps, I ordered the Gyro and steak fries. It was probably the best Gyro I can remember having. The super sweet waitress was quick to bring out my order so it was hot a juicy. The gyro was generously sized and extremely tasty from the first to last bite. I almost couldn't finish it but it was so good. I have a rule not to eat until I'm stuffed, but it was so good, I broke my rule. The steak fries were hot and crispy and I received a generous proportion. My young waitress was very kind. My wife was out of town and not liking to cook for one, I was by myself. I spent 40 years traveling for business and have eaten out thousands of times by myself and I can't remember many wait staff going out of their way, even though they are busy, to talk to me more than to take the order. She went out of her way and even though I'm fine eating alone, it really was appreciated and reminded me that it's not what you say, it's how you make people feel that they remember. I will remember her out of the way kindness more than anything. There looked to be a lot of regular customers, mostly couples, who knew each other. It got pretty busy by the time I left at 6:25 or so. The facility was somewhat outdated and dark, but it worked. J-taps is worth a visit for lunch, dinner or a couple drinks. read more

We get the same thing everytime, gyro and black and blue burger. Wednesday is gyro special! Food is delicious and my burger is cooked perfectly, medium well like I like it. The Saratoga chips are the best over the waffle fries. The service is excellent! Reliable servers who check on you and make sure you always have something to drink. So many TVs so I am guessing that on big sports days, the vibes is fun and entertaining. read more

I've passed this up a hundred times as it's tucked away but wanted to try it out. The Big J burger is hand made and flavorful. Basic burger with no fancy toppings. Had a hankering for a gyro and this place has one of the best. Came around 1pm - catch a little football and have a late lunch. Sat at bar and ordered a tall Truth - informed by server they don't serve Truth in tall glasses. Whatever - no worries. Asked me if I wanted a menu and I nodded. Then after a period of about 20 minutes bartender shows her face again - this time looking pale in the face and proceeds to tell us all that she is sorry, but she is sick. I'm a little grossed out figuring it is the sniffles etc. - NO! She then proceeds to tell the regulars she was up with stomach pains and puking. They said prob just food poisoning- then she says no - I've been puking all day and no one will cover my shift. I quickly headed to the ATM - smallest amount they would let me withdraw was $20 (I wasn't going to allow her to touch my credit card/have to use her pen etc.). I put the $20 down and got out of there as quick as I could. Arguably the best burger on the west side. Handmade patty on a delicious bun cooked to order. I had no idea!....but I'm glad I know now. Complete with Saratoga chips this bar staple gets all the attention it deserves. I had been trying to convince my husband to try out J Taps for a long time. Someone had told me how great the food was so I waited forever to get him to oblige and he finally did a few weeks ago. My first impression was the size. As a west sider, I've driven passed J Taps about a million times, so it's not like I've never seen it, but I was surprised by how small it was on the inside. Maybe that wouldn't have struck me if we weren't in the middle of a pandemic, but I guess the close and confined space made me a little uneasy. I know that they also have outdoor seating, which probably opens the place up a ton during the warmer months. My second impression was of the beer selection; they've got a pretty wide variety, as well as a full bar, which is definitely nice. Nothing to complain about there. On to the food, which I was a little disappointed in. I got a chicken sandwich, which was okay, but nothing to write home about. The fries were pretty bland as well, but still okay. My husband got a jalapeño burger (the name escapes me currently) which he really enjoyed. He also really liked the fries, but he doesn't put salt on anything, ever, so I feel like they played to his taste more than mine, which is great for him, just not my taste. My cousin went with us and he also had a chicken sandwich with fried pickles on it, which he also said was just okay. The service was alright too. Nothing to write home about. All in all, I wouldn't write J Taps off and I plan to go again and try out something different. Maybe on a night when it's not so busy it will create a whole different experience. read more

I usually order from this place 2-3 times per week. Last night I called in a takeout order. I got there, I paid for my food. As I was waiting for my order the cashier was bagging food. She rubbed her nose with what I expect to be her dominant hand (right). Then she licks her fingers to get them nice and wet to separate the plastic bags. She never sanitized or wash her hands. She's opening food containers , placing ranch inside two of the containers. Using her right hand. After witnessing that. I pulled her to the side to not cause a scene, and I asked her to wash her hands. She went by the sink, I never saw her wash her hands, never saw her hands wet nor did I see her with a towel or paper towel. She asked another cashier to bag my food when it comes up. I told the lady why she asked her to bag my food. The dark haired, thin built intoxicated lady ( manager) asked me if she had on gloves and did those things what would I have said? I said, I would have asked her to change her gloves and sanitize her hands. The intoxicated manager stated , that is why people need to cook at home. At that point, I stated I would like a refund. They told me I couldn't get a refund because my food was already made. My food was not made. Then she stated if I had paid with a card she ( the cashier) could refund me. I continued asking for my money, the manager started shouting insults at me. I tried to call green township police but my watch would work without my phone. Some nice very handsome older man walked up and asked what was going on? After I explained to him, he asked if he could pay for my food. I told him, sir I already paid I just want my $14 back. He went into his pocket and gave me $15. The manager started shouting at him. Why did you giver her her money back. I left. I never wanted to cause a scene. I did everything in my power to remain respectful and professional. I hope the owner sees this. read more

This place was a nice enough hole in the wall type bar. I was greeted by a very friendly lady who I explained to her that I was doing the burger week Passport and told her what burger I wanted. She then asked me if I wanted it for here or to go. I was prepared to eat in seeing how on the passport take out available was not indicate it. I told her I would take it to go if that was OK. About five minutes later she informed me that they were making an exception and allowing me to take it to go to which I said thank you but I felt a little put off by the statement. anyway the burger was decent even though it was overcooked and they didn't ask me to what doneness I would've liked my burger. read more

This was my first visit to this bar. We stopped in late to get some chicken wings. The inside was dark with multiple tvs like most sports bars. There was live music that was nice. Our server was friendly and prompt with the drinks. The bar itself is very large and appeared to have most liquors. I only gave them four stars for the wings. I was born in Buffalo, NY and take my wings very seriously. A friend raved about the wings, so we gave them a chance. We ordered them extra crispy and they were cooked perfectly. My problem was the sauce. We ordered hot, Buffalo style. While the sauce was hot, the flavor more like BBQ than Buffalo and this was disappointing to me. read more

If you are a westsider that lives north of Price Hill, this place is the closest to Cheers that you are ever going to find. Maybe not everybody knows your name but rare is the occasion you don't run into somebody you know. The building is an old Pizza Hut from the 70s and I know this because I used to ride my bike to the A&P down the street. The food is pretty darn good for a bar and the staff knows you by sight if not by name. They are always looking for ways to improve without ruining the character and so far are successful. Recently they have added multiple taps to accommodate craft brews and a garage door to bring the outdoors in. This is my go to place. read more

I happened to be all the way out in Western Hills area today and decided on J Taps Bar & Grill for lunch. J Taps is your typical sports bar with mostly high top seating and it is decked out in the standard Bengals, Reds, Bearcats, and Buckeyes signs, flags, and pictures. I was surprised to see it pretty empty (there were four other people when my friend and I got there, two when we left), but I imagine it gets pretty crowded later in the day with happy hour, daily specials, and all the games and UFC fights on TV. They have 12-15 medium and large televisions and surround sound, and while they will have all the football games playing this fall with their Sunday NFL Ticket package, I don't expect there to be many people there not wearing orange and black and chanting "Who Dey!" The J Taps menu isn't all that big, but there are plenty of options from appetizers, wings, and salads, to sandwiches, burgers, and their (apparently) well-known Grilled Salmon (and three other fish dishes). I went with the Grilled Chicken Gyro for $4.99, and that was really good. Plus, it came with very good--albeit a bit greasy--Saratoga chips, unlike many restaurants that now serve off-brand Ruffles-like potato chips that aren't too enjoyable. They also offer steak, Greek, Cajun, and Waffle Fries on the side ($2.25-$2.99 extra). My friend ordered a $6.99 Turkey Club which looked pretty decent, not to mention it was huge. The service was fairly good, although there was only one other table to wait on. It wasn't the quickest, but the waitress was very nice and did a pretty good job. J Taps often plays host to live music, while I also noticed a 21st century jukebox near the front door, which apparently plays 2,000 songs. I also noticed a few arcade-like games and a dart machine (as opposed to the standard dart board). Monday is 30-cent wings all day, while the rest of the workweek consists of a Ladies Night/well drink special on Tuesday, pitcher specials on Wednesday, College Night/draft special on Thursday, and a 3:00-8:00 happy hour on Friday (3-7 Monday through Thursday). J Taps Bar & Grill isn't by any means the best restaurant I have been to, but I did think it was pretty good and worth trying if you are in the Cheviot/Westwood area. They are open late seven nights a week and offer all the specials and have all the games on, so it's definitely something you might consider at night or on Sundays during the football season. read more

TERRIBLE. I've actually had their food before on a pick up. Thought I'd come in for the dining experience. It was INCREDIBLY slow. Spent more than an hour for some wings and fries. J-Taps can easily be driven past as you look for a place to have a drink and a meal, but my last visit will keep this place on my radar more often. I hope this review will direct some well-deserved business J-Taps way. This is a neighborhood sports bar and there are plenty in the area that are competing with J-Taps. Within a mile on Glenway you have Willies, BW3's, Champions, Poppy's and the list goes on. I came here expecting nothing special, but the grilled chicken sandwich I had that night was really good. Not to mention the service was great as well. Our beer came out cold, our food hot, and our bills split as we asked and quickly. This place has some great happy hour specials throughout the week. My personal favorite is $4 gyro night on Wednesday's. Another great deal they have going are during Bengals games where you can stop in for 5 beer buckets for $10. If domestics aren't your beer of choice, don't worry this place has definitely caught on that craft beer is taking over. They have a great selection and the prices were exactly in line with where I felt they should be. I've reviewed a few of the other places I mentioned above, but if I had my choice this is my #1 place to come for cheap beer, good food, and a fun time. read more

I like this place for happy hour. A group of us often goes there on a Friday early afternoon. At that time, the place is generally empty and you get great service, cheapish drinks and good bar food. It does bother me that there is usually at least one or two families there. I am not a big fan of the west side tradition of bringing your family to a bar. After a movie one Saturday evening, a friend and I were looking for a place to sit and chat. I suggested J-Taps with the memories of nice casual Friday afternoons there. BAD DECISION! This is apparently the Arnie's of the West Side on Saturday night. There was a DJ playing music to earsplitting level. People were actually (drunkenly) dancing on the "dance floor." The bar was 3 people deep and the bartenders were in no hurry to serve. The average age of the clientele was about 20, which is strange since they all had drinks in hand. This is a big claim to make, but unfortunately I knew some of the 20 year olds who were doing the drinking. Either they had fakes of the bar doesn't check IDs. If you are in the mood for a early 20-something party, head here on the weekend. If you are looking for a casual drink and snack, head here on an afternoon. read more

Excellent food and service. The Buffalo Chicken Salad is huge and very tasty with fresh lettuce and home made Bleu Cheese dressing.

Decent bar with a lot of room and a good parking lot. The night I went, there was trivia and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Our server was super on top of things and almost asked me too many times if I wanted another beer. I've been here on other nights and it can get really packed and filled with 20 and 30 somethings having a good time, if that's not your scene, at least I've given you a heads up.
