We came out here to visit Julie , this is the first time in a year b/c I was out of state for 7 months . It was the BESTEST when you get to see one of your favorite Lady ever ! We usually bring are own snackies but the owner Linda makes the best fudge which pairs well w/ the great wines at Mt. Vernon. We had the anniversary edition red & it was delightful. They have a wine tasting bar & it probably fits 20 people , it's simple but nice bar top . They have a beautiful outside garden w/ tables chairs & umbrellas & then you have the island which has a creek & picnic tables & benches & just wonderful vibe of being in an outside area of trees, flowers & a creek . Mark was our favorite! I only wished you weren't out of so many of your wines! Hubby and I had the best laugh over the "girly man". We both enjoy and appreciate the sport of bodybuilding, so seeing Arnold on these, we had to bring him home. There was another family tasting when we were in the room when we were there; they enhanced our experience. There are two other places outdoors that you're able to purchase wine and enjoy the scenery. They allow outside food, so pack a picnic and make a romantic day out of it. Check out their menu! We were there on a busy day, doing one of their wine club releases but was all good, we fit into the crowd and not only tasted a lot of wine but wound up joining their club. We used to come to this winery a few times a year, but after tonight, we will never return. We hurried to get here while participating in Holiday in the Hills. While we were waiting to go see the Grinch and get our final tasting, a woman walked up to our party and very rudely told us "you guys know you need to leave in a few minutes, right? We're having a private event" Yes, your private event was scheduled 30 minutes later. She didn't approach anyone else. Not to mention there are much much nicer ways to convey your message. It sure feels as though it's because my group had a darker skin tone than the rest of the customers. We'll never return to the venue and I'll be sure to tell every wine drinker that I know to stay far away, unless you enjoy being talked to rudely and disrespectfully. Mt Vernon is one of our favorite wineries in the area. So much so that we have been members for almost a year now! We don't care for white wine so whenever the releases come out they let us swap out any white wine for a red which a lot of places don't let you do. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and the winery is DOG FRIENDLY!! So many wineries around the area aren't so we are very thankful for that, another reason why we love this place so much! read more

Let's start off with saying how exceptional Stephanie was today!!! She is so personable, attentive, and charming. She made wine tasting here such a welcoming experience. A tasting is $15, if you buy a bottle they wave the cost. Which we did. Stephanie was on it too. Highly recommend just based on service. That being said, there are MANY great wine choices too!! The Cab Franc and Noir were my go too. Wine of course is a personal preference and all about your taste buds. Must try! read more

We've been members since the beginning. We Love their location , wines , their staff of wonderful wine servers. When I walk in I feel like Norm from the old tv show "Cheers". Everyone knows my name. They added weekend cater G-Pon who has added a nice addition of some delicious foods. He is a one man team of foodtastic yummy creations. You can only see him on weekends. This winery is beautiful. Lots to be seen. Two streams flow through the property which we were told salmon run though. The wine however, a complete miss. Never seen a cab franc for $35. And I've never tasted a can franc that was so terrible I poured it out. Normally not many wines land in the bucket most tolerable but this one did. I'm always meeting interesting people, from all over California, and beyond, who are also lucky enough to be enjoying the delicious, Placer County wines with me on any given tasting day! The location, tucked into the foothills, just off Hwy. 49 & Highway 80, couldn't be more convenient! The bubbles rosé is perfect for any special occasion. The Zinfandel that was just released is exquisite! My favorites, however, are the Barbera and the Cab Franc. The Wine Island (for wine club members only) is something to be experienced! Driving around we stumble to this winery. Although it's not high end by all means, they do have decent wine but great service, great environment and great pricing. First, their wine tasting is very inexpensive; $9.00 for 16 samples' can't beat that. Staff here are very friendly and their outdoor patio is real nice with tables and shades where you can sit and have lunch while enjoying their wine. As for us, we called and had pizza delivered for the kids while the grownups sampled the wine. Don't expect any expensive fine wine here but if you're looking for an everyday wine to go with your meal, get them here. read more

He was very personable and knowledgeable about every wine he served us. The wine was very good and we ended up taking quite a few bottles home with us. 4/11 Update: Julie emailed my friend (who was in contact with her before the visit) and informed her that we were in fact on the reservation list and Mark did not look at it. She told us that the owner is aware and that she let Mark know. Julie apologized for our bad experience and encourages us to come back when she is working. I am happy that Mark was made aware of his error, but just like first impressions, it is difficult to come back from a bad first experience. Mark made our first experience at Mt. Vernon rememberable and not in the good way. He ruined this winery for me due to his rudeness and poor service. There are many other wineries in Auburn that I would prefer to go to and I encourage all of you Yelp reviewers to do the same and go to another winery! read more

I have read the negative reviews about Mt Vernon Winery and have experienced the exact opposite in this petite winery for over 20 years, I get it not everyone will like Mt Vernon wine but to leave a negative mark on Mt Vernon winery's wine in my option is nothing more than unjust slander. Mt Vernon has 1200 wine club members that enjoy many benefits from free tastings for two every day their open to special events, recently they have added food catering that is over the top Saturday and Sunday every week. I'm excited about the venue of music and special events in 2022. in My opinion don't believe everything you read, Mt Vernon is a gem in the Sierra foothills. read more

I've been going to Mt Vernon Winery since 2007 and let me tell you, it is hands-down the best wine in the Sierra Foothills. Not only is the wine fantastic, but the staff are incredibly friendly and will make you feel right at home. I've done several tastings with Ryan the wine maker and he an incredibly friendly and gracious host. You can't go wrong by visiting Mt Vernon. There was a steady flow of regulars coming through and people were enjoying the live music outside. I wouldn't go back for the wine. I dumped all of my tastings into the bucket. I really enjoy stopping by Mt Vernon when driving over the hill in either direction. It's a super cute little winery off the road. Wines are pretty darn good, and the prices of them aren't bad either. We bought 3 bottles on this visit, and they are YUMMY. In my opinion the wine club is a little on the pricey side at $95 4 times a year. I think it's 4, it could be 3. I don't remember the ladies name that helped us with our tasting, but she was great, you can tell she loves what she does. What a find this winery is-just up the road in a gorgeous setting. The wines are the best we have tasted in the region and the people who work there-including the owners- are very friendly and easy to talk with. The tasting room is bright and comfortable and there is a great outdoor picnic area. Their new Wine Garden Island is a real draw during the warmer months with live music and food prepared by their chef. This was one of our stops on the "Holiday in the Hills" Placer wine tour; our group of 17 women were there celebrating a friends birthday. *SIDE NOTE: there is a yelp check in so be sure to check in while you are there. This property was beautiful and inviting with an incredible old style house on property. It did take us some time to get service however they were incredibly busy with the rain. My high school best friend and I got together again and decided to check out this winery. So glad we did! We went on a Thursday so it wasn't crowded, and Jewels was behind the bar. From the moment we walked in, she was bubbly and energetic, and so knowledgeable about the property, the history, the grapes, and each of the wines tasted. It was a beautiful setting, and a good number of wines to taste. Definitely one of my favorite wineries ever visited in California, and much of that had to do with Jewels our server. Highly recommend to others and take your time here. It's worth it. read more

That's a great deal for tasting. All of the wines were excellent and we ended up with a bottle of their sparkling wine since we were celebrating our anniversary. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY CHILDREN Hello everyone, This place has great wine and a good atmosphere. My wife and I have been here several times and have had a good time but today we decided to bring our little ones. Not only did we get asked to go out to a different part of the winery with our kids but so did other couples next to us. I really mean it when I say that our kids ( 4 and 5yr olds) behaved well and all we got was staff following us around telling us we should pretty much leave. We are members and very disappointed with how we were treated. I know its not a playground for kids but come on, please just put up a sign that says kids not encouraged or something like that so we don't bring them. read more

It is my favorite winery in the world literally and I have been to many! Their wine is fantastic and always has been. I hate to give a bad review but this is mostly due to service although their wines are not that great either. We became members shortly after moving to Auburn and enjoyed going there for wine tasting. However, they never communicated when the quarterly wine releases were ready for pickup. The way I found out about new releases was when I saw the charge to my credit card. I cancelled my membership last October but was still charged on my credit card for the spring release. Sorry, these guys and girls don't seem to have their act together when it comes to communication and service. My wife and I recently joined Casque winery in Loomis and both the wine and service is so much better. It's nice to get an email describing the new releases and when they are ready for pickup. Not asking for much here but Mt Vernon was a big disappointment. read more
