Mt. Washington Tavern has been a local favorite and staple in Baltimore since 1979, I'm so glad I finally got to check it out. I sat on the Skybar, which is a covered deck on the second level and enjoyed the breeze. I had amazing service from Jamar! He was insightful, helpful and checked on me frequently through dinner. It's lots of seating available on both first and second floor, even a room for events! The Chesapeake Rockfish is Parm-crusted and topped with jumbo lump crab, lemon beurre blanc sauce and is def a must try! I also really enjoyed the Tavern Wings and the Delmonico steak (though not cooked to my exact temp preference) it was still very tasty with their housemade steak sauce. For cocktails the Strawberry Rose Spritz was very light and refreshing, def recommend it. read more

Food was ok but they raised the prices so much it was NOT worth it! In addition to higher prices, a 22% mandatory tip automatically added to the bill AND 4% credit card fee added too. Both are excessively high. If I want to tip more than 20% it should be my prerogative. Rarely does anyone pay cash, so it's just a tacky way to raise prices instead of just changing the menu price. I'm so glad I didn't let the reviews steer me away from this place. I stopped by with a few friends on a Friday evening- we hoped to catch the oyster happy hour but were a few minutes too late. HORRIBLE- I came back to Mt. Washington Tavern to give this place another chance after already having a bad first experience, and somehow it was even worse this time. My girlfriend and I sat for over 15 minutes without even being given a menu while multiple tables around us were greeted and served. It became very obvious we were being ignored. The energy toward us felt cold, dismissive, and disrespectful the entire time. When I asked the host for the manager, she actually told me he "was not a good one," which was honestly shocking to hear from staff. At that point I asked who the owner was because it was clear nobody cared to resolve the situation. No customer should feel unwelcome the way we did. I've been to Mt. Washington Tavern a couple of times, most recently last week for a group dinner. The tavern is nice - cozy, comfortable, casual - and the service is very good. They have a broad variety of drinks (beer, wine, cocktails). I enjoyed their house dirty martini when I was there last week and found it to be a very good version. I think their food is just so-so. We shared several apps: Nachos Grande, Truffle Fries, Bavarian Pretzel Board, and chicken skewers. Definitely standard pub fare. The nachos were disappointment - lots of chips, not much in the way of toppings! Felt very dry and bland. It needed a lot more on it to make it work. It's not a bad place for a casual, pub-traditional meal, but I haven't really enjoyed their food on the occasions I've had it. It's in such a great spot, so I'm sure I'll be back - probably for drinks and a burger! read more

What an incredible night! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted at the door.... This started off a wonderful dining experience. Ace was just that! As a server she must be the Mount Washington Tavern's ace in the hole! She was absolutely incredible! had an amazing experience at Mt. Washington Tavern on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025. I stopped in specifically for their Wednesday special, but they had just run out. A little disappointing at first, so I switched gears and ordered the Tavern Wings and a salad. Both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly as good as wings and salad can get. But what truly won me over was the service. The manager came over personally to apologize for the special being sold out and surprised our table with a half slab of ribs and sides to share. Completely unexpected and incredibly thoughtful. The ribs were tender, delicious, and the gesture alone took the night from "good" to "outstanding." That kind of customer care is rare. Mt. Washington Tavern has definitely earned a loyal customer -- I'll be back again and again. Highly recommended! read more

I hadn't been to MWT in years, but when I found myself hungry after a party that was lacking in snacks, I ended up there. It was late on a Monday night, but the bar was open, so I hopped right up and homed in on some Monday night football. I ordered the chicken quesadillas which were just okay. The chicken tasted reheated, but the tortilla was nice and crunchy. Next, I tried the chicken nachos, which looked like a huge portion, but was deceiving because they come on top of a bottom plate and are surrounding two sauce bowls in the center. They were much better than the quesadillas, so I was content with that. Had a nice chat with the bartender, a very friendly guy who gave me some history of the place. Not sure I'll make a trip down to MWT anytime soon, but next time I'm in the area I might stop in for something other than the mediocre bar food. read more

Stopped here before an event. Hadn't been here in 15 years, love the rebuild after the fire. Great atmosphere with plenty of seating, but service was below average and the food was no better than average for a bar. We had a pretzel board to start, it was very good but took almost :30 min to come out. For meals we had smash burger tacos, prime rib quesadilla, and a rueben. Everyone loved their fries, but thought the rest of the meal was just ok. Sad part is it was hard to get refills on drinks because nobody seemed to want to work. read more

I recently had the opportunity to check out Mount Washington Tavern for the first time when I went for my SIL's rehearsal dinner. The interior was very bar/pub atmosphere, but we were in the event space on the second floor which was more upscale. I checked the Yelp reviews before coming and was a little worried. The food was good, but not great. Nothing I ate was bad, but nothing blew me away either. I did get one of their drinks, the Charm City Punch, and that was fantastic. Our server was also pretty good and the manager that helped me with my allergies was also knowledgeable and helpful, which I appreciate. It was really loud in there and I do wish someone had closed the doors to our event room. I don't think I'd recommend them for event level food, but I'd come again for a night out with friends for good drinks and average food. read more

A long time ago, I lived in Mt Washington and would do time at the MWT only to have to stumble into flight up Sulgrave - I climbed so slowly So good to be back after many yrs to the new and improved MWT Met up with an old pal for dinner. We didn't get the prime rib special but, if you like prime rib, I suggest their Weds prime rib special night. Looked tasty & a lot of prime rib is served. I got the yummy prime rib quesadilla. Food: Meh. Service: What service? We were a party of two in a group of 20, plus more coming and going. A reservation. Early, on a not-so-busy Saturday night. In all fairness, the group number did ebb and flow, but it wasn't a "packed/hectic" scene. There would be an automatic 22% gratuity. We were seated at a table and we were told we had to order from the bar. So, I got our drinks, and a little later, ordered our meals. Later, my sandwich came, a reuben, delivered to the table by a kitchen staff who asked around the table to find out whose order it was. Same thing for the second meal--kitchen staff brought it to the table; asked around the table again. Now, multiply this by the number of people in our group. While others who ordered after me were served, my sandwich took a long time to come out of the kitchen. It was room temperature. Dry meat. Sparse house coleslaw. Hard toast. A mountain of strange, dark, hard waffle chips. Very disappointing. I bought more drinks at the bar. Over time, I cleared our area of our plates and glasses to the bar. Then, I went to settle the tab. Eric, behind the bar, was indicated on the bill. I'm angry that this gratuity went to one person. I think the automatic 22% gratuity is lopsided and unfair. Eric had dispensed 2 sodas and 3 draft beers. Other people served our food. I placed the food orders and bussed the table. Just downright shabby. Had I known going to The Mt. Washington Tavern meant "you place the orders, you get the drinks, you bus the tables, you pay a gratuity to someone who did almost nothing," I would not have gone. read more

Bond with your dog over a hearty brunch. Very wooden inside, like a log cabin. There were dogs walking around, saying hello to people, making their rounds, going upstairs. We actually didn't even realize there was an upstairs until we saw a dog stroll by and head on up. Our visit was over the weekend during brunch hours. Both the brunch and normal lunch menus were on the table, both figuratively and literally. It's nice having options. I went with an omelet platter that came with a salad of all things. Someone else went with twin crab cakes. Nothing is off limits. Live out your fantasy. Start with wings, end with jumbo lump crab hash. Wash it all down with bottomless mimosas (or Bloody Mary's if that's more your thing). Fluffy eggs, hot coffee, good company, bright sunny mornings. You get all that here on any given weekend, any given day on this old chunk of coal rocketing through space to the edge of eternity. There's a parking lot on the premises, which is always nice. And the overall atmosphere is inviting to boozy brunchers, quiet coffee drinkers, and piggish pups all the same. First time here as came with my sister for Saturday brunch. We got there about noon. There were already some ppl seated and eating. We came in on the side because my sister had to use the ramp for her walker. We were seating right away. There was a little wait on the food once we did order but didn't took that to mean it was made to order. Our waiter, sorry to forget his name was friendly and attentive when at our table. It started to get busy around 1:15 and we were kind of close to the walkway from the kitchen near the bar. So there was alot of traffic. A woman I assumed was the manager came over to ask if we were ok and needed some boxes. It was around that time I felt as if they were rushing us. We were in conversation but once we received our containers packed our food. Not long after that the waiter came with the bill and became more frequent than seeing if we were ready to pay. The food is just all mixed with other stuff that they are trying too hard it's missing the simple things like a caesar salad.
