It has been a while since eating here and nothing seems to have changed much. What was new to us was an announcement. Of no food or beverage can be brought in. Since i didn't see it, i had brought in my water, the server drew our attention to it. She permitted the drinks to staÿ out of the way, but any beverage was considered by the Health Dept as an unknown. Our order arrived quickly, my French onion Soup was as good as i remember for flavor, their broiler was down so the melty brownèd cheese was not available. So french fries with gravy is a stand-by. My hubbands spaghetti with meat sauce was excellent They gave him 4 meatballs. Fresh and he could only eat half, leaving the remaining half for the ñext day.He could not resist the bean soup. A bowl of steaming hot soup on cool dreary days ( his appetizér). Ŵe shared a salad. There is a bar on the street side and the rear entrance was the restaraunt. Plenty of free parking. We met friends for lunch at the Valley View Inn - always a great choice! Kristi took excellent care of us. The gals enjoyed crocks of their French Onion Soup. It was hot, loaded with onions, and topped with mozzarella cheese. My husband had an Ultimate Club sandwich on white toast with turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Our friend had one of the specials of the day - the Tuna Melt with Cole slaw and French Fries. Everything is freshly prepared to order and was delicious. read more

The food is good, the service is okay. The ambiance in the restaurant is welcoming, the ambiance in the bar is what you would expect it to be- average people having average food with average drinks, watching average sports and other shows on TV. I'm a local, so I'll return for some select dishes, but it could definitely use a upgrade. read more

This was our first visit. When Fall hits, I crave French Onion soup, & boy howdy this lovely place delivers! Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food (my husband thoroughly enjoyed his meatball sub & fries) & our waitress was very attentive & lovely. I also can't recommend the corn nuggets more: sweet, gooey inside & crispy outside with no excess grease. I have to tell you the ignorance of the staff and the owner on Mother's Day was unmatched. Imagine a member of your group orders a rare steak and when the food comes out, there is no identifying marker on the steak and the server has no idea which one it is. When asked,the server couldn't identify the rare steak, so she went back in the kitchen and returned with someone in charge. I dont know this was the owner or the kitchen manager. This person berated the person who ordered the rare steak (who is diasabled) by raising their voice and making a huge scene in front of a full restaurant. My group eats at this establishment at least once a month and is appalled by waht happened today. This demonstrates a lack of class and customer service. I would recommend a boycott of this place until that person is reprimanded or terminated. read more

Great place to get a delicious and very affordable meal. Owner & her staff were fantastic ! Plenty of menu options as well as specials to choose from. Brought our daughter and our 20 month old granddaughter there for her first ever dining experience in a restaurant and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. My first time trying Valley View Inn but I'll be back every time I'm up in that part of Maryland. Food was delicious! read more

A nice little spot tucked away on the corner. I have drove past for years and never knew what to expect. There are two areas, a bar and a dining area. When we walked in wasn't sure I would feel welcomed. But was put at ease, had several diners saying hi and making conversation. Was able to seat ourselves and was immediately greeted and served. Interesting place! Oddly brightly lit yet still felt like dive-bar with what seems to be alot of regulars. But not alot of smiles- staff was efficient but dour, patrons seemed to be somewhat down older folks sipping bottled beers. Smiles were had when I joked with folks a little, but overall mood was downer. No music playing either- made it oddly quiet. A few nice beers on tap, nothing too fancy - not a place for local IPAs, but a draft Yuengling hit the spot. Food wise - grilled prime rib was juice, tender, tasty. Mashed potatoes, gravy- tasty but clearly from box. Green beans with onion and bacon canned as well, but tasty. Wifey had fried shrimp, cole slaw, pickled beets - all good but all Sysco-type food service items. Prices were good - twenty bucks for prime rib, 15 for shrimp - so can't complain too much! All in all an adequate meal in a somewhat depressing setting! Think of decent quality retirement community food in a faded 80s fern bar. read more

Even after calling that morning to confirm our reservation and location of the table we wanted, they sat someone at the table we had requested. Not sure how they got this messed up? We had invited friends to come to Valley View Inn with us to experience the Sour Beef and Dumplings, which is a dish they love. Kelly and Juliana did the best they could to make sure we were happy after the reservation mishap. The restaurant was crowded and there was a large party close to us, so the service was slow. We got there at 6:00 PM and did not leave until 8:15 PM. My wife asked for the liver and onions with the gravy on the side, as well as a side salad and pickled beets. What she received was liver and onions covered in gravy. Kelly offered to take it back, but my wife did not want to hold up the rest of our dinner guests from eating. I ordered the shrimp salad platter that had coleslaw and potato salad, all of which was excellent. The problem was the Sour Beef and Dumplings: our friends tried to eat it, but then decided they could not. It had some spice that left a burning sensation in thier mouth. We also tasted it and could not identify what the spice was, but it was hot. My wife and I have enjoyed the Sour Beef and Dumplings on many occasions at the Valley View and these two offerings failed miserably. Kelly graciously took back our friends' orders and quickly replaced them with a Shrimp Salad Sandwich and French Onion Soup. We learned a lesson - from now on, we will ask to taste the Sour Beef and Dumplings and make sure it tastes okay before we order it. This is real Baltimore dining from servers and kitchen who know what they're doing. Not dressy, max local color, very nice seafood items, especially crab related. Fine burger. During Covid, call to discuss specials, they bring your order to car and take cash or card in the parking lot, makes a good car picnic. Really good quality and value. read more

This place is a gem! Very friendly staff - huge shout out to Susan for her patience and good cheer! Large portions of very fresh food. If they tell you they have crab cakes (by themselves, not the sandwich) get one broiled. FABULOUS! Salads are delicious- we sampled several and all were really good. But all of this is just the lead up to dessert.they have a blackboard with a list of cakes. I wish I could have had everyone of them! We settled for sharing the Italian Lemon Cream and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Galaxy. O.M.G. The ta Ren is very close to the Morningside Home of Satyr Hill and is a great place to bring a family member for an outing. So glad we found it! read more

Sat. 4/29/23 6:20PM I waited approximately 15 minutes to place a carryout order and left with nothing. Two waitresses continually walked past me, seated new customers, handed out menus, took orders and delivered food. Even though one said she'd be with me in a minute, there was no interest to take an order for a simple hot turkey sandwich! While I was standing near the kitchen counter area, the lady with bleached blonde hair picked up 2 mozzarella sticks off the floor and instantly grabbed food dishes and served them. I approached and suggested she wash her hands since that's the most traffic area with germy shoes and she's in the food business. She replied, "Well that's not the worst thing." Sadly, these employees have no sense of food establishment hygiene practices. Never again! read more

So everyone in my neighborhood apparently knows about this place. I finally gave it a shot about two weeks ago and have already been back for my second trip and have planned a third! First trip was my almost-2-yr old and a friend. We both got the prime rib, and the baby got chicken tenders and fries. Everything was delicious and perfect. The baby wasn't on his best behavior, but everyone was kind about it. Second trip was my dad, my kid, and me. Dad got a generously poured drink from the bar, we both got the steak special (no substitutions) and the baby got the hot dog and fries - he loved them. Both times the meats were perfectly cooked to order, the sides were excellent, and the service was decent. Oh! I had the ceviche and my dad had the crab soup, and both were fantastic!! Crab soup was like homemade, and the ceviche was octopus and shrimp with mango, and out of this world! The place has a unique feel, and I'm looking forward to try them for breakfast next. read more

My husband and l have visited Valley View for years and l'm sure we would be considered regulars at this point. We've never had an issue, the food has always been good...its been our go to place to eat. Unfortunately, the last 5-6 visits have left us questioning if we want to return. The time we wait for food is getting longer and longer. We've always been understanding when take out orders were plentiful due to covid, but during each of these visits, there were maybe 2-3 take outs. Tonight there were 5 sat tables (3 had 2 customers, 1 had 3) and a group of possibly 6-8. The party was already seated and orders being taken, one table of 2 were eating and the other 3 - to include us, were having orders taken within a few moments. Deb and Susan were filling drinks, giving apologies for the delay, waiting for the food to come out. Our apps (soup and fish bites) took a bit of time to come out. We ordered a club sandwich and burger. We waited...like the other 2 tables waited...and waited. We started to talk about leaving after 40 mins passed, when the gentleman sitting behind us got up, obviously upset about the wait for their food, paid for their drinks and left. We arrived a little before 7 and our food came out close to 8:10. We never complain, but l have to say, after watching a woman standing, waiting for a stinking take out salad for over 30 minutes, a family leave because of the wait and our wait for a simple burger and club...it was a bit much for a quick weekday dinner out. Not a bad local joint at all. Burgers are quite bge and tasty. They have a restaurant and bar that are separated but you can order most anything at the bar. They do sour beef and dumplings one day a week and have liver and onions too! Beers are pretty much corporate lagers on draft. Several TVs. They let my 9 year old in and eat with me at the bar. Everyone got a kick out of him. read more

If you are looking for a local place with a "Cheers" type of atmosphere with great food, drinks and service this is the place for you to try! Tonight I had their MD Shrimp soup that was absolutely delicious (but I love every soup I have tried) and the Chicken Parmesan over pasta with garlic bread...amazing!!! The service was prompt, food came quickly and they even boxed my leftovers for me! Did I mention cold draft beer under $2.00? This is my favorite local restaurant to visit...always great food and service at a reasonable price...can't be beat!!! read more

I came today 6/16/22 for sour beef special i couldn't get bread or even pay for extra gravy. I don't understand why the owner is becoming so stingy with people buying extra gravy. I usually give a 50 percent tip for my carry out but with not getting bread or able to buy a 1/2 a cup of gravy and have to ask for plastic wear it makes that tip go away. read more

Was really looking forward to a Saturday afternoon lunch with my 6 bridesmaids. Picked this restaurant because it was close to one of the dress shops. We arrived at 1230pm. There were 4 people sitting at the bar and only 3 tables in restaurant. We were seated but with no menus. Had to go up and ask for menus. After 50 minutes we still had not received the drinks we ordered nor had our order been entered. During this time another table was seated and immediately got their drinks. Several of us kept asking the server (who was pleasant) for drinks and to place our order but to no avail. The bartender came out to serve the newly seated table and we asked her to assist our server in getting our drinks and order. She was downright rude and did nothing to help. After an hour with no drinks and no food we got up and left. Clearly they need better management and that day lost about $200. PLUS each of us will spread the word to our networks to never patronize them. If you actually want a drink and food do not go there! read more

I've been to Valley View many times. FOOD AND SERVICE ARE EXCELLENT. Sorry I could not give a 5 star rating but I have noticed that the dining room usually is full at lunch time, usually with seniors and/or those with canes or walkers. There are steps and two doors to the dining room entrance, making it very difficult for some customers. There is plenty of room in the rear to add a ramp to better accomodate the customers who need it. In addition, the ladies restroom is not handicap accessible. Sometimes that could be the reason we go somewhere else to eat. read more

This is your home cooked meal- not at home. We come here every so often when we dont feel like cooking at home and want a good meal and dont want to spend a fortune. It is ridiculously low priced, so you can order a fair amount and have plenty to take home. The restaurant reminds me of a dim "cheers" lounge, the waitresses have been there forever and are hilarious and kind, feels like you're visiting your favorite Aunt. I love that they change up their specials every day, including soups and appetizers- gives you something to look forward to each time. We have loved everything they've had so far....and there's still plenty to be explored. They make a lot of their food from scratch. I am a HUGE fan of their turkey and gravy platter. I try to order something new each time, but it is such a damn good comfort meal- I can't deviate too much. They roast the turkey themselves, make the gravy... and the mashed potatoes are actual buttery yukon golds, not a powder packet. The burgers are hand packed and huge. The crab dip is always on point and served in a bread bowl. All in all, we have never been disappointed in the quality nor quantity of food. We are so fortunate to have this little gem so close to us in Parkville. read more

Planned to grab dinner to deliver to my parents as they are shut ins due to Cov-19 and wanted to surprise my dad who loves liver and onions (mom wanted seafood) and most restaurants don't have. After googling best places in Balto County for it, I found Valley View Inn got good reviews and as I had to travel 95, 695 and 83 to get to them, VVI was an easy stop off the Beltway. To place an order, I was told to call 30 min before wanting to arrive and when I did a I was already driving, and was told an hour or more wait for food. Got to restaurant and was greeted by a friendly woman who took my info and said it would be another 10 min or so- no biggie. She brought my bill and handled payment at the car which was great and a 10/15 minutes later brought out my food. Arrived at my parents and unpacked dinners. Liver and onions (baked potato and broc), stuffed flounder (baked potato and slaw) and stuffed shrimp (baked potato and slaw). Everything ordered was in the bag. Good start. First, me and parents are picky on slaw- this was very good. Baked potatoes cooked perfect with a sea salt skin. Broccoli is broccoli. Dad LOVED the liver and onions and said very tasty- large portion. Moms stuffed flounder was a small piece of fish with a decent amount of crab imperial on top. Imperial was a little too loose (saucy liquid) but did have some nice chunks of crab. My mom loves shrimp so I gave her one of the 3 that came with my small portion dish. She took a bite, made a face and turned to spit it out in her napkin. I took a bite of mine and same reaction. Pulled out the third piece and discovered why. The shrimp were butterflied open and laying under the imperial and were RAW. Still that translucent grey color, crunch disgusting raw!!! That ruined my meal and could not eat the dish after that. That was just like throwing &20 hard earned cash in the trash!. I tried calling to let them know but phone just rang and no answer. Valley View Inn, PLEASE make sure your food is cooked thoroughly before serving to customers. I understand being busy but with people having more suppressed immunities and more susceptible to getting sick (especially the elderly) this is just dangerous to chance and serve uncooked food esp seafood! I love neighborhood restaurants and bar foods as these are usually hidden gem places to eat but this was a turn off and disappointment to say the least and sadder that couldn't even call establishment to let them know :-( read more

It's our 3 trip to the Valley View Inn. It maybe your last. As the busy boy brought our food out on a tray it stay there and got cold until our waitress finally got around to servicing us. The food was good but definitely not worth the $150.00 price tag. Drinks are very over priced, we made reservations but some how ended up in the bar area. Definitely not our best time there. Maybe we'll try the outdoor seating next time. read more
