It is gorgeous, but dark, and the seating is spaced out enough to give you a bit of privacy. This is a great place to visit when you want to impress a date and ask them all of the awkward background questions about why their last relationship ended. And when you want to drink a fancy cocktail and don't mind paying $15-$20 for the privilege. The bartenders know what they are doing and are super professional, but probably are not trying to listen to your life story. You're also probably not going to meet new people here. It's not that kind of vibe. Basically, this is an upscale cocktail lounge, not Cheers (or Fraziers). And it is a very good one. There are high chairs at the bar for you to sit or you can sit at the table in the middle. There's enough space where you can bring your laptop and get some work done if you wanted. Then there's a booth like bench around the perimeter with little cocktail tables for you to place your drinks and food. We sat in the corner, and I also noticed that there were some books as part of the decor and the book lover in me was eating it up. The ambiance was very cozy and intimate. Perfect setting for catching up with friends or a date night with your love or even the first date to get to know someone. We were going to be going somewhere else to get something to eat so I just stuck with the drinks. I ordered the preserved peach smash and it's for sure top 5 drink I've had in my life. I mean wowwwwww. It was so good we had to call the bartender over and see if we could get some insight on how the drink is made. It's peaches steeped in an herbal cordial with bourbon, lime, and maple. I mean ten out of ten definitely recommend. It seems like their menu is seasonal. This was their winter menu. Was finally able to try out The Bluebird Cocktail room for my birthday, and definitely want to come back here! We had reservations and were seated quickly-- there was some bar seating and several tables that were open (probably because it was a Monday night). Our waiter was friendly and quick with our orders and drinks. We each tried different cocktails and while somewhat on the pricey side (I think they were each about $20), they were quite tasty! We also tried several of the appetizers (fries, white bean dip) prior to dinner, all were delicious. I personally got the burger for dinner, and it was seasoned and cooked well. The inside is really lovely, and I know there are other "rooms" or parts to the Bluebird that I want to try in the future! Back in 2019, the Blue Bird cocktail room was like the best place to go in Baltimore for cocktails. There's been a lot of changes obviously with Covid so I recently went back (stopping going for a bit) and was really surprised to see food on the menu. I forgot to take pictures, but we ordered the mushroom toast which was really good and their french fries which are kind of like the skinny fries. I feel like Blue Bird is back on the up and up and with the trying times we are living in 2025, cocktails are definitely coming back. I got their last word which is my favorite iteration of any cocktail and it was pretty good. Their vibes remain the same. It's a cool LIBRARY dark feeling bar, and the bartenders were really nice. My only issue is that the drinks and snacks we tried did not live up to the cocktail bar vibe (and prices). A good cocktail bar should have well balanced drink recipes on the menu, rather than throwing unusual ingredients together for the sake of being creative. I had a champagne cocktail off their winter menu, and the herbs de provence in their house made cordial gave a roast chicken feel to the sparkling wine, but would have been better with a stronger tasting spirit like gin or mezcal. We also shared the whipped ricotta and beets with honey. The beets were cut into large slippery chunks (larger than bite size) and piled in the center of the whipped ricotta, and roasted whole cloves of garlic were placed all over most of the ricotta along with the honey and olive oil, but the garlic/honey/beet combination just did not pair together well. The high points were that the service was good, the atmosphere was cute, and you get a nice 2nd story view of Hampden on the way in. read more

My wife enjoyed her burger and the fries were tasty shoestring type. With that, I was not a fan of my drink. Charging $15 for a non alcoholic beverage is just baffling. Their happy hour window is pretty limited (as is the menu), but we got there exactly at 5 to make the most of it. There were just a handful of people at that time, but started filling up quickly. Service was fantastic! Esthetic is on point (moody and cozy). Unfortunately, several drinks on the menu were not available on the day we visited due to seasonal change, and apparently they change their menu every 2 months! I tried their cocktail of the week, which had a coffee-absinthe flavor profile. $10. It was good, but I felt that all the ice diluted the flavor. My husband tried one of their regular menu drinks (forget the name now) but it was beautifully presented and a delight to drink! The shishito peppers are are awesome and would highly recommend. It's bright and pretty and I loved it immediately. But that faded quickly, with the very relaxed, borderline apathetic service. I was getting ready to leave when we finally saw a server. It wasn't busy, either. Additionally, the chairs are super uncomfortable in both bars. This is increasingly common across the industry and I'm not sure why restaurants hate us. We also visited during a time when the menu was a bit lackluster. Going through photos, I saw interesting, fun dishes in both reviews and the online menu, but those weren't available during our visit. I had a burger, which was good. Drinks were fine. We did enjoy our absinthe service. The Green Room was small and tightly packed. We ordered the white bean dip to go with our drinks and it was meh. This entire place is a disappointment. read more

Yesterday, I went with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised by the fried zucchini dish. It had a delicious crab medley underneath. Stopped here a little after 9 for a cocktail after another event. I climbed a flight of stairs and followed a dark hallway to the upper level (Cocktail Room). Apparently there is also a lower level (Green Room) with sandwiches and appetizers-next time. A long and inviting bar area that was lit brighter than the rest of the dining area. High top and regular tables were available. A good list of Cocktail options. I tried "Temporary Madness" and unfortunately didn't like it. Maybe there was just too much going on between the Garlic Oil, mushroom bitters and olive brine to name a few. That said, I'm sure I could find a cocktail from the list (regular rotation) that I would like. Ordered the Bluebird Cheeseburger to go and to try based on positive reviews. Lighting was very dim and your eyes will get used to it. But there are three floors the top floor the middle (green room) and the pub (bottom floor). I spent a bit of time at the top floor. There was a lot of people there and it was loud but a good vibe for sure. The pub had a speak easy vibe extremely dark and quiet. You can defiantly have a good convo down there. So this started my year off great. I wanna to come back and try the green room. One thing I will say is that if you order food from the pub they bring it just uncovered. The bar has eclectic music played over the speakers ranging from classic jazz to modern pop. The decor is cute and reminiscent of the study of a manor house with books piled around the seating area and a fireplace at one end of the room. I tried the fig & maple smash to drink, whipped ricotta and beets as a starter, and crispy tofu sandwich as a main. My drink was okay, but the vinegar was too strong for me. The whipped ricotta and beets were standard, but the focaccia that came with the dish was delicious. The tofu sandwich had a good flavor, but I would have preferred the tofu to be more firm after cooking. The fries were average and the sauces were nothing special. I love a good speakeasy so I was excited to try this place out when it popped up in a search. I saved the visit to take a friend who was visiting one day. The plan was to stop in for 1-3 drinks and bounce to another place. I thought this would be in a basement or lower level but it's the opposite, it's upstairs.
